Oh how I love Trader Joe's. The store wasn't to crowded but it was still a lot going on. It was clean inside and the staff was friendly!! They had lots of pumpkin flavored foods. The produce section has great options as well. My favorite sections are the seasonings and frozen foods. They have Korean, Italian, Indian, and more. The frozen desserts are so tempting I wanted them all. Lol. The prices were pretty reasonable, but still add up pretty quickly. I love the floral section. Prices for a small bouquet start at $3.99 which is awesome!!! I don't drink but the wine section had lots of options and good prices. If your having a party this is the place to get wine a charcuterie board items!!! There's so many other things I liked here. If you've never been to Trader Joe's, run don't walk to the nearest one. With how popular they are I wish they'd open more locations. In VA beach there's only one and it's always packed. Great healthy products. Any employee I ask for help from is always thorough and polite. They are happy to strike up a conversation at the register and make it feel like a community. It is an artsy, clean, and stylish store. Only dislike is one employee . He makes me uncomfortable generally, but mainly with how pushy he is. He always repeatedly requests I go to his register. This has happened 4 or 5 times and is only ever with him. Last time, I didn't, and he moved over to my register anyway to be a bagger and kept injecting himself into the conversation awkwardly. To be clear, I don't mind that he wears makeup or has long hair. I look non-conformative as well and have friends across communities. It's just weird that I need to feel any level of stress and put up boundaries with a cashier at my grocery store. read more

Love Trader Joe's; hate Short Pump. If TJ's offered grocery delivery, I would just hand them my paycheck each period. I get some severe anxiety in grocery stores, so I appreciate that this store is a manageable size and the layout is so easy to follow. I really like their frozen pizzas, french bread, babka (am I sensing a theme?), as well as their cheddar and horseradish pub cheese. There's a specialty grocer in Philly called DiBruno Bros that has a cheddar/horseradish spread that I miss with every fiber of my being....TJ's cheese holds me over. This store is well-stocked and well-curated with generally high-quality goods. I'll return whenever I work up the nerve to take the Short Pump exit off 64 next. read more

Who doesn't love Trader Joe's?! I swear I could spend all my time and money at this place it's a problem. The food (especially the TV dinners) is super affordable and good for you compared to other more popular brands. Anything I buy from here I instantly feel better about eating because the ingredients in the products are way more natural compared to your typical grocery store. The service is always top notch anytime I've visited. The employees really care about making sure each shopper has a pleasant experience. The ambiance is pretty earthy and just all around natural vibes. Nothing too crazy. Will most definitely be back to this specific Trader Joe's and any other one I can find! read more

If I can find a Trader Joe's no matter where I am at, I am happy camper!!! It was like a grocery store party in here!!!! There were a ton of folks all over the place, yet you did not feel like your were tripping over each other. If you've ever been in a TJ's the layout is the same so you should have no problems finding what you are looking for. I was overly excited to see that they had Brussel Sprouts on the vine which has become my ultimate veggie obsession lately. Do not let the crowd deter you. The lines move quickly even though they look long, they move rather fast. Staff was super attentive to all the customers in the store. Shout out to the gent staffer who had to use the restroom (which were clean) but let all the customers go first. Parking can be a puzzle as the lot is not nearly big enough to accommodate all the traffic that comes into the shopping center. You may have to circle a time or two before you find a park. read more

Management was incredibly kind and welcoming. I asked them if they had scissors to help me make a bouquet for my mom, and they not only gave me scissors, but they also set aside a space for me to make the bouquet and gave me rubber bands and tape. Love the staff and energy! read more

I go specifically for the flowers, frozen food, snacks and wine; I have to point they have amazing skincare including sunscreens, serums, and moisturizers that should not be overlooked. But they have a great selection of produce, diary and meats as well. The only downside of Trader Joe's is if you find something you like there's a good chance it won't be there the next time you return. read more

This store lives up to the hype. (We had been introduced to Trader Joe's decades ago when we lived in L.A., loved it... so glad it's made it's way to the east coast!) A well stocked, well maintained specialized grocery store with a thoughtful wine and cheese selection. Great prices and you'll find some wines with no sulfites. Fresh produce? Check! Gorgeous floral department? Check! Organic options? Double check? International foods? Check! Free range meats and eggs? Check! Baked goods? Check! Great customer service? Check! Yep! Trader Joe's checks soooo many boxes! People flock here from every direction to stock up on goods from this health conscious store. Yes, it may be crowded at times, but the quality is worth it! Trader Joe's is now only allowing 30 people at a time in their store. They are taking the CDC guidelines seriously. The sidewalk has tape where you stand to social distance yourself as you wait your turn to go in . Also the check out line. Taking your own bags in? They must be kept on bottom of cart. You will have to bag your groceries yourself. If you choose not to take your own bag they have bags for you when you check out. They seem to be stocked better than 3 weeks ago. You can get basic necessities and other things that may be on your list to buy. They do receive a truck everyday 1st thing in the morning. I really appreciate their efforts to stay open while trying to keep theirselves well and the customers best they can. Trader Joe's is #1 in my book. read more

As I was browsing through the skincare isle, I came upon a pumpkin enzyme mask that was very intriguing due to the organic ingredients that could help with acne or dryness. Upon putting this mask on my face, it led to multiple cystic pimples on my face and gave me redness and an allergic reaction. I am not allergic to any of the ingredients in the mask so having this reaction was very surprising and quite unexpected. Trader Joe's is my favorite grocery store in the Richmond area. While it is on the smaller side, it is filled with all kinds of unique and healthy options at wallet friendly prices. The best time to shop here is during the day on a weekday where you have the best chance at avoiding the crowds and finding what you need still in stock. I like to come on my days off so I have plenty of time to take in all the unique products without having to deal with the weekend crowds. Customer service is top notch here. All the associates are friendly and willing to help you find what you need. I love shopping here for fun snacks that I can't find anywhere else like ube ice cream and umami seasoning. Their personal care items are great too. I love the budget friendly moisturiser with SPF. They're taking CDC social distancing guidelines very seriously, which I appreciate. Be prepared to wait in line to get into the store and be aware that you will be asked to leave reusable bags in your car as they are not currently allowed to be used in the store. read more

Okay, I love TJ's on a good day. So much so that my coworkers often tease me about how I should be a spokesperson for them. (HEY TJ's! YOU WANT A DIETITIAN?) But during this pandemic? The staff are rockstars, their policies on social distancing, hand sanitizing, and cleaning carts puts their competitors (looking at you, Kroger) to shame. I know there was controversy when COVID first hit, but honestly, you would never know it by the way the staff behaved: professionally and with such dignity throughout this nightmare of a pandemic. I work at a hospital, so I understand the stress of having to work on-site because you are considered an essential employee. I have nothing but respect for these guys. They're doing EVERYTHING right and I have never once felt unsafe when going out to grocery shop at this TJs. I also have to say... the level of childishness of some adults when they're told they can't bring in reusable bags is embarrassing to watch. I saw a woman the other week have a temper tantrum in the parking lot when one of the employees politely told her she couldn't bring her bag in. Like full on shouting when she stormed away from him, flailing her arms and legs like some fish out of water. I feel for the employees, I really do. Please remember to be kind to them and to respect the rules which are set in place to not only protect them, but YOU as well. After coming here a few more times since my initial visit, I think it's about time to write a review. One thing that I like about and is immediately apparent with Trader Joe's is that the place has a neat, down to earth vibe coming from it. I suppose one could say it's a bit hippy, but it's a nice feeling. The employees are all chill people too and every time I've left with a warm feeling. My favorite part about coming here is just walking down the aisles and finding things that you just don't find other places. Or rather, things you normally have to look for is just among the other "normal" items. For example, there are Korean bibimbap bowls next to the fried rice. Or mochi mushroom dumplings next to the normal dumplings. Non Asian food aside, they have a lot of neat varieties of their other foods too. There are some really great natural snacks like puffs and chips that you won't find in other stores. Outside of chips, there are tons of nuts, trail mixes, and cracker type things as well. Another great thing is their fruit, vegetable, bakery, and meat items. They have a lot of good looking produce and going on from the previous paragraph, the variety is nice. The presentation of the items is top notch too. Trader Joe's carries almost all of their own brand of items, and the packaging is very aesthetically pleasing. Each of the price tags and signs are hand drawn and really makes the experience all that more enjoyable. I will admit that if you're looking for a certain item, the location might not be intuitive and you might have to peruse the aisles or ask someone about it, but it's not a large enough place to be a problem. To clarify this as well, many of the items they have are either Organic or more humanely raised (antibiotic free, sulfite free, etc). Given that, the prices all seem pretty fair. While some of the prepared items may be a bit more expensive than your typical Kraft or [insert main name brand], the quality is noticeably better and definitely worth the extra $0.50 or $1.00. All in all, I really like it here. You could probably get all of your grocery shopping done here, but my fiancee and I just stop by occasionally and get some of the more novelty items like mango mochi ice cream, organic snacks, and Asian frozen items. I haven't been to any other Trader Joe's so I'm not really sure if it differs than other ones, but I'm a huge fan of this one at least! Why haven't I reviewed Trader Joe's before now?! I grew up in Charleston, SC, and as an adult lived in Mt Pleasant. We had a Trader Joe's years ago, and I would swing by and buy sauces, produce, coffee and of course wine. It was on my regular rotation and moving to Richmond with no Trader Joe's or Whole Foods was a change. Luckily it was just a few years before both Trader Joe's and Whole Foods opened. I love Trader Joe's. They have so many good products at decent prices and their produce is good. The bagged salads are super, frozen meals are great and the cheese and wine sections are vast and reasonable. Almost forgot to mention how great the staff is. I go pretty much twice a month and have never encountered a surly person. read more

Only issue I have is the parking. Depending on the time and day, you can bet your butt that it'll be slammed and good luck finding a parking spot. Luckily, when I went on a Saturday late afternoon, there was plenty of parking in the front. I don't often drive out to Short Pump for my grocery, but I needed to buy a few things that were Whole 30 approved. I love their coconut water and almond butter here and needed to restock. In addition, I got myself some of their uncured bacon and coconut flakes to add onto my sweet potatoes. Overall, experience was nice, they have certain items that you can only get at Trader Joe's, and their stuff is good. Don't be surprise at checkout when you easily spend $30+ on a few things. It may be expensive, but it's worth it. Especially around fall time when everything is in Pumpkin Spice flavor, haha. read more

LOVE this place!! Cheap, yet decent quality wine (~$3-Charles Shaw has been ranted and raved about); amazing selection of high quality gourmet frozen foods; wide range of yummy spreads, like peanut butter, try cashew butter; almond butter; etc, and the BEST Cereal aisle EVER and for super cheap!! Never overcrowded, very well-organized, great prices. This is my go-to for great cereal and granola bars. When i was in school in C'ville, I used to stock it up on this stuff and always make a stop to re-up whenever I was home. Now that I'm in Miami, I always get like 5 boxes of cereal and 5 or 6 boxes of granola bars. They are the BEST. I put them up there with kashi bars (pumpkin and raspberry) because they are all my favs! So here's what I typically leave with, bare minimum. A bottle of white wine to cook with (Charles Shaw) A box or two of TJ's Vanilla Almond Granola cereal A box of Maple Pecan Granola cereal Two Boxes of Envirokids Peanut Butter Panda Puffs (sooo delish and just a hint of sweetness--doesnt taste like kids cereal at all). Sold in Winn Dixie in Miami in the Organic section for $4.99, while only half the price at TJ's. Gotta love it! In fact, a lot of TJ's cereals are only $2.99 or so. 3 boxes of the trail mix bars in the Green box 1 box of the Trek mix antioxidant (pinkish or purple box) 2 or 3 boxes of This Fig Walked into a Bar bars 2 boxes of This Apple Walked into a Bar bars 1 box of some other cereal to try During the holidays last year, they had a cranberry goat cheese roll that was to die for!!! I got a friend hooked on it!! I hope it's back again because it was aamaaazing! The cheese prices here are so reasonable. I miss that. I can never afford goat cheese in Miami :(. I've also noticed a killer selection of prepared, uncooked foods. Guys, you could totally make a wonderful dinner for your lady without having a real clue as to how to cook. I'm talking chicken cordon bleu, the works! Great cheese rolls as well ...saw one with mozzarella wrapped in prosciutto and basil. YUM! Good-looking dessert, too! Not many people in the aisles to answer questions, but the manager tends to roam around and help out customers and he's super nice and helpful Note: this is not a "get everything and go" store. It's small and always brings in new items (which means others are pushed out) in order to keep cost down. This is the, get my staples that are done best here, kind of store. Kroger is right across the street to get whatever is left on your list. Update: I tried the everything crackers and they are simply divine. I get it now. The secret is shopping at Trader Joe's Monday through Thursday. Avoid it like the plague on the weekend. I can't get enough of the pre-packaged fresh salads. My current favorite is the roasted butternut squash, red quinoa and wheatberry over baby arugula with cranberries, toasted almonds, goat cheese and honey sesame vinaigrette. Mmm! This is one of those catch 22 situations, I love this place so much, and know others that do, that I want it to stay in business, but I wish that the people that "still don't get it" or say it's "too crowded" or "weird" would just stay away and continue to shop in their safe and comfortable cookie cutter supermarkets, which would mean more iced tea, kettle corn and italian bread for me! : ) Their frozen prepared food have made me so much better a "cook" that my kids look forward to the meals I prepare now!! I also have more confidence that when it's my night to make a meal, it will actually taste good. Anything frozen with a side of their Biryani rice, no muss no fuss no bother.... I don't do a lot of wine, but my friends that do say that their wine selection rivals those at much more expensive shops, and when you buy their bananas at 19 cents EACH, it winds up being cheaper than getting a bunch at Food Lion and paying mostly for the peel. This location really stepped up to the plate amidst the chaos of COVID-19 and I am truly grateful for their efforts to provide a safe haven for our community. Of all the stores in Short Pump and the surrounding area, Trader Joe's provided the most amount of safety for both customers and employees. Guys, I really really really really love this place. Days when I need to grocery shop are an absolute treat; do you feel that way about grocery shopping? If you don't you need Trader Joe's in your life. Let's break this up. Flowers: THE BEST selection in all of Richmond. Honestly. Better than any florist I've visited. You can purchase a dozen roses for about six dollars, and they last for me about two weeks. Where else can you find such a good deal? Name one place here. I'll wait. They also have plants. Breathe. It's okay. Food: Affordable af. Are you single/only cooking for two? They have a wide variety of frozen meals, such as sweet potato gnocchi with brown butter and sage, orange chicken, naan/ butter chicken, regular gnocchi. I mean it's great. Are you a vegan? There's a lot of cool things in store for you. I found nutritional yeast and ghee here. Produce is always quality. They also have a bunch of frozen appetizers- perfect for parties you might be hosting. Can you invite me if you're serving their mini pot pies? Wine: What is this sorcery? Where else can you get quality Prosecco for a mere six dollars? Heck, I've found three dollar wines that are decent. I don't understand the pricing but I'm not complaining at all. This store is always stocked and super clean. The employees are friendly and help you find things you need with a smile. Prices are unbeatable also. I can get groceries for two people for around $85 every two weeks, and it's mostly healthy and/or organic. Their frozen meals are delicious and easy to make, making week night dinners a breeze. Much better than typical grocery store offerings. The only complaint I have is that during covid, while they are staggering entry, the store is too crowded for my liking. Even at peak when they first reopened the store was pretty packed. Overall though, my favorite place to shop! read more
