I like this Trader Joe's location more than Short Pump. The parking lot is more spacious, though it's just as busy as other locations. Visiting on a Monday is not a great idea but still doable. On a recent visit, I purchased nearly 50 items for $195, which is pretty impressive in today's economy. I especially like their egg whites, frozen section as a whole, premade salad kits, and snacks. Went in last night to grab some flowers and the majority of the flower bins were completely empty. We spoke to Adam as we remembered him from a previous T.J. location and he was kind as always-such a joy to see. Grabbed some great seasonal finds that were amazing. Trader Joe's is always a great spot to pick up something unique and delicious. Always my favorite store to hit up on a weekend. It's kind of my weekend store to go to along with a few others. My favorite is their selection of food, and their flowers. I pick up new flowers every two weeks to have a fresh bouquet on my kitchen table. It is much cheaper than a grocery store, or florist. The staff is always kind and extremely helpful. I love this Trader Joe's. It's literally my favorite one in this area. I will say that it gets crowded now due to TikTok and social media. But they still move rather quickly to get the lines down. The flowers here are so beautiful and are reasonably priced. They honestly last so long. I love the staff here most of all. They're just so friendly and are extremely helpful. I enjoy seeing some of my faves weekly like Amani and Phil (I call him my wine guy, he knows EVERYTHING). The store is clean, they have all the best stuff and the staff is just amazing. I have always heard about Trader Joe's but never lived close to one before until now. I enjoy going to this location at least once a week and trying something new every time. Their frozen section is great, I have getting the Indian foods and they are good especially with their naan bread. Recently I have been into trying their dips, sauces and dressings. I really started going there because of their plantain chips and am glad I tried other things. Staff there are pleasant and helpful. I am always asking where to find things and things to try, they are always willing to walk with me to show me different options and all. I think prices are reasonable. The only reason why I am giving 4 stars is because I feel like it is always crowded there. I decided to start going early, right after work at 8:30am but still crowded, which is not a bad thing, I guess I like to be in and out but usually I have to wait on others to finish looking at things so I can look. Also long lines but honestly I don't wait too too long in line, they are pretty fast. My co worker was telling me they don't go there due to the long lines but I think it has gotten better. Just wow! Does anyone remember Gelson's? This store reminded me of that grocery store in California! Everything was pristine, beautifully faced and stocked, the produce was incredibly fresh, and the staff was amazing! I was greeted by a congenial young man who offered me hand sanitizer and a disinfected cart upon entering. As my hubby and I meandered down the aisles, every time we needed to find something and asked an employee, they stopped what they were doing and walked us to the product! Now that's what a call great customer service. The store was immaculate and even checkout was a breeze. Sure, you may pay more here, but the quality of the food, the organic choices, and the service is well worth it! I'm definitely going back for their free range eggs and meats!! read more

I love having this Trader Joe's close to where I live! They have a really great selection of florals, produce & fun snacks. The staff are always so pleasant and even opened up a product for me to try. I didn't like it and they didn't make me pay for the opened box. As with all Trader Joe's, it can get really crowded during peak shopping times so try to go early in the morning or later at night to avoid the crowds. They are always fully stocked so no need to worry about that. They only reason I'm taking off one star is that they don't seem to have every product that the Short Pump store has and they only have one cart return so if you are parked on the opposite side, it's quite the trek to return it. Otherwise, this is a great alternative when you are looking to avoid the West end traffic! read more

My mother is an 82 year old woman who shops at this location several times a week. Today however she came out sobbing after the cashier by the name of Faith treated her with complete disrespect. She spoke so rude and condensing to her. There is absolutely no excuse for that at anytime! I know Trader Joe's as a whole trains their employees to be outstanding in their customer service. Faith failed at that today and has made my mother feel ill as she is already having heart issues. I am so disappointed and angry at how my mother was treated. I love this Trader Joe's location. Not only is it closer and more convenient than short pump, the experience is so much better. There is more space for parking and always seems way less crowded than the other location even when it's busy. As always the staff is so friendly and helpful. I haven't bought a thing that I haven't liked and it's nice to know that they've got you covered if you don't like something. My fave rotating item is the Kringle of course and they are always well stocked. I LOVE my neighborhood Trader Joe's! By far, my favorite place to grocery shop. I love the unique foods and snacks that they carry and the produce is always immaculate. You'll always find something new to try here between their new/specialty items and seasonal offerings. Pro Tip: if it's seasonal and you're thinking about getting it -- GET IT! Most items that are special/seasonal are limited and once they run out or that time of the year comes to an end (ex: fall item and fall turns to winter) you can no longer get the item. I always stock up on the products I love before they run out! Also, the staff at this location is so genuinely friendly and helpful -- don't be afraid to ask them for help because they are happy to provide it! They have many vegan options, gluten free options, etc. for those who have dietary restrictions or preferences, too. There's something for everyone here. But make sure you have a supplementary grocery store that you love as you will not be able to find EVERYTHING you need at Trader Joe's, mainly just the fun stuff! read more

I love a trader joe location! I will say that in this particular location there was not an abundance of employees that I could ask a question while I shopped. It was the first time I purchased the dark chocolate almond butter cups, which I find to be life changing! The lines were long, as usual, but as usual, they went by very quickly! They have the best social distancing guidelines. The line to get inside was long, as well as the checkout lines, but that line went quickly as well. I like that they require you to take hand sanitizer before you can enter the grocery store. The lady who was ringing up my groceries was very young, but still helpful. We made nice small talk, and she had a more seasoned employee with her, bagging the groceries. That individual was able to give me feedback on a couple of new items I got that I was curious about. I love all Trader Joe's. I'm from California where the head office is. What I do see in this one is that it is a smaller version of the usual size I see. At least there is a Trader Joe's near me now! The staff are all very friendly, beautiful flower area, good meat and cheese, wine sections for sure! Tiny health care section. Tiny pet section...both are a quarter isle length. I'm so glad there is another Trader Joe's in RVA now! The trip out to Short Pump was getting old and I try not to go to that area unless I have to. As others have commented, the parking lot is pretty big and there are always plenty of available spots. I feel like this store is a little bigger than the SP location, as that one feels like a sardine can sometimes. The shopping center is also a lot less crowded as a whole. They monitor the amount of people that can be in the store at one time due to social distancing guidelines and they sanitize your cart when you leave. They also offer you hand sanitizer upon entering. Staff is friendly and helpful which makes it easier to spend money here. Best time to shop IMO is on the weekends when they open or on weekdays between 6:30pm and closing. read more

Trader Joe's excels at having delicious products and produce at good prices while staffing an excellent assortment of employees throughout the store who are always friendly, actively working but always polite and ready to help you with anything you might need. Their unique products like their Kringles that are offered throughout the year in multiple flavors, ube flavored ice cream, and their pumpkin spice batons are just a few items I love. I've bought interesting and beautiful plants, cinnamon brooms, and who knows what else from TJ's over the years and am constantly grateful they opened a location near Midlothian at the old Martin's (good riddance Martin's grocery stores). The company is so good I'm always a little surprised that they do use a lot of packaging; I would have expected them to be more eco-friendly (for example, many fruits and vegetables are in plastic multi-packaging rather than just selling items loose and individually). Checkout is always easy, even on a busy day they get you out of there quickly, and the cashiers are always very nice to work with. Trader Joe's totally excels in many ways. read more

This store is just like all the others- clean, well stocked, friendly employees, etc. they monitor the number of people in snd out to make sure the store doesn't get too crowded. It's full of all the crowd favorites - cauliflower gnocchi, amazing cheese section, wine and beer etc. we actually got our thanksgiving turkey there- a 14 lb pre brined bird. I spatchcocked it with some herb butter and it got rave reviews from the family. I especially like the cruciferous crunch salad, their coffee is smooth, and the great selection of soy and dairy free options. Arguably the most important section of the store is the cookie section!! So many delicious treats! One trip I ended up walking away with no fewer than 8 Boxes of cookies. So good! I'm so glad we have one in the neighborhood! read more

I am in love with this new location of Trader Joe's. Even from the moment you pull into the parking lot there's plenty of parking. The space inside is night and bright and the aisles are a little wider which is super nice because we all know Trader Joe's can get a little crowded. The employees have all been friendly and ready to help. Their COVID protocols have all been enforced and has made me felt at ease whenever shopping. I usually love shopping at Trader Joe's and can count on receiving impeccable customer service but that was not the case at this location. Erin and Harrison did not greet me when I approached the counter and I was honestly shocked because Trader Joe's is known for their upbeat cashiers. The entire interaction was honestly awkward and I was only spoken to when Erin asked if I wanted a produce bag for my chicken and when she gave me my cart. a close family member of mine previously worked at trader joe's & he said his experience was dreadful. not only was the manager just flat out disrespectful & unprofessional to his employee. he also kept a bucket in his office that he would use as a bathroom because he saw himself above others. the food variety is good but it gets outweighed by the poor management. read more
