After going to the Short Pump Wegmans for the first time on Xmas eve, I am fully a Wegmans lover. My fiancé and I started going to Virginia Tango nearby and one evening I decided I wanted some sushi after class. We went around 8:30pm on a Wednesday night and it was empty (an ideal way to shop at usually packed Wegmans). I was surprised to learn that they are open until midnight! There was plenty of free parking out front. It's huge inside, but pretty intuitive on where to find specific things. I enjoyed a nigiri mix for dinner. I also got some bon vivant cheese, sourdough, and turkey for a sandwich the next day. It's still on the pricey side, but nice to treat yourself every now and then. We did self checkout which was quick and easy. I recommend coming to this location late to avoid crowds! read more

The custom cakes usually are great But this past time seemed as if maybe they didn't follow directions? I ordered a layer cake and the cake was as thin as two of my fingers... which is kind of gross cause there is more icing than cake? So many people recommend Wegman's for a variety of things, so I finally decided to give them a try. I am really lost on how to rate this place, because I am on the fence. Maybe a 3.5...? The parking lot is nice and big, which I like, and relatively easy to get in and out of. The fruit was gorgeous! We got 2 pounds of strawberries for $4, a bunch of baby bananas and one of red bananas for around $1.35 each. The blueberries were what I would normally pay, same with the cotton candy grapes. My kids wanted some of everything. Hubs wanted to pick up some cheeses, and we were pretty happy with the price on all of the cheeses, plus they had some really unique choices. Some of the lower end charcuterie cheeses are available at Lidl for about 30% cheaper, same brand and everything, but we just stayed away from the ones that we normally get cheaper elsewhere and stuck with the unique ones. We LOVED how they had some really good charcuterie options set up for sampling. We ended up with two choices that we never would have picked, but they were so good we had to get them after trying them. My ASD son was super curious about the "WHY?!?" of everything, so I loved that the lady working cheese stopped to answer his questions like "why is there steam on the cheese?" (Humidity controlled cheese case) and things like that. The gentleman who rang us up was amazing too. Super friendly, and low key genius. He has rubber bands on his wrist, so when he rang up our berry packages, he quickly slides a rubber band on them so the clamshell cases don't pop open. I have lost so many fruits because I never thought to do that! I love that he does things like that to make sure we don't waste money. We also really appreciated the young man ringing up things like quick bites and beverages so you can eat there. We didn't even notice that our kiddo selected a pop top root beer instead of a twist off, so he offered to pop the lid we didn't even know needed to be popped, and throw away the lid if we wanted. Little things like that are amazing. And we liked being able to grab the kids a quick and pretty darn good premade sandwich. The bathrooms were super clean, which is great because I cannot take my daughter anywhere without her having to stop at least once to potty. The not so good stuff is that some stuff is total garbage. We bought $30 worth of sushi (4 rolls) and it was AWFUL! So stale and soggy and the veggies were brown and gross. That is probably my fault for ordering grocery store sushi, but I did expect it to be at least edible. We also felt like the place was super cluttered. They have a ton of options, but they have them on stands in the middle of every single aisle, next to endcaps, everywhere. You spend the entire time dodging edible land mines and other shoppers. The last thing that really sucked was that we spent our entire shopping trip waiting to go over to the bakery treats section. Everyone SWEARS by the black and white cookies, they have so many gorgeous cookie choices and we wanted to try every one. And we almost did. We were standing there, ready to grab one of everything when my son points out that the cookies have flies on them. Which makes perfect sense, because they are completely open and exposed to flies, fingers, sneezes... He was super grossed out and we agree. Put a cover on those! A door? Mosquito net? Something! We will probably come back for the stellar service and great choices, but we will definitely avoid some things. read more

Cool grocery store. Huge wine department that looks like it's own Total Wine inside. They have a variety of stuff and a big hot food/grab & go food section. I'd shop here more often if these were in my home area. Buffalo chicken pizza was decent. It's huge and the buffalo sauce wasn't too overpowering. Crust isn't the best but overall still good slice of pizza for a quick meal. The vanilla cake is amazing! I usually prefer butter cream icing so I was pleasantly surprised when I enjoyed their whipped icing. The icing wasn't too sweet and the cake itself was moist and fluffy. Thankfully we do not have Wegmans here in Jacksonville or else I will be broke LOL. my sister and I went here since she kept bragging how wonderful it is there. and as always she is right! Went here on Sunday Morning and on their front door you just see the amazing flower arrangement they have that is placed on a paper bag! I love flowers and that's why I was amazed pretty easily with that. then we went inside and they offer so much more! from fresh pastries, seafood, sushi, hot foods and everything!!!! I LOVE THIS PLACE i want to buy everything! if you are feeling lazy to cook, no problem they have lots of options here that you can just heat up, want something sweets? from different kinds of cakes, cheesecakes and other desserts, name it! also, Wegmans is so clean! I like Wegman's & there's a lot to like about them. But it's frustrating to find items out of stock EVERY visit. And it's the SAME items time after time. Often several items out of stock at a time that I routinely have to go to other stores further away. They're often out of stock for weeks at a time. So, they can not possibly capture lost sales. So, their inventory run rate is distorted, showing fewer sales. So they order/stock less. No doubt the reason these are permanently entrenched as an out of stock item. It ain't rocket science, folks. If you keep running out, you need to over-stock on subsequent orders to be able to have visibility on prior lost sales. Chronic outages experienced (just off the top of my head): frozen fruits, particularly organic, Traditions Medicines organic teas, organic Wegman's yogurt, Wegman's branded cereals. read more

I love Wegmans but both stores in the area are a 25-min drive away from my apartment. I had an appointment nearby, so I stopped here at the Midlothian location after. The store is gigantic, the parking lot is huge, and the products are just as good as you'd expect from this chain. I will say it took me forever to locate the deli counter. It's along the back wall, as an FYI! (Gotta snag some of their bbq rubbed turkey breast whenever I'm there!!!) I forgot my reusable bags, and the bags they use are paper without handles, so it was an interesting walk up to my apartment with three of them. The cashier made a point to tell me about some new thing they do to "save time" where you can scan every item yourself as you pick them up and then check out at the self checkout. I was mildly confused because 1) that doesn't sound like a time saver at all, and 2) I went to a human cashier rather than a self checkout. If Wegmans dared to put a couple of stores in Houston the my fellow Houstonians would be over the moon thrilled! They would be packed 24/7 or......from when they open to when they closed! I love Wegmans and when I lived in Southern VA I used to visit my siblings every other weekend and always brought back specialty items to enjoy during the two weeks I was away. Seriously every other weekend. Wegmans just has everything you would need for a special dinner, a healthy diet, a run in for a snack or quick lunch, baked goods, plentiful salad and prepared food bars, Kosher items, Halal items, fresh produce, a PLETHORA of multicultural cuisines, pizza, subs, specialty cheeses, groceries- name brand and store brand, expensive wines and champagne, cake, pies, bagels, beautiful cook ware and kitchen ware, sushi prepare, small restaurant, greens, beans, potatoes, tomatoes.......you NAME IT..... and that's not all. They have a really good business model. Staff is always friendly and helpful. If you are searching for something and they see you they will approach you. Staff that work in one area are also knowledgeable of different areas. Just a cool grocery chain that sells quality items. Love! read more

Having been twice, I can say without hesitation that Wegmans is the Rolls Royce of grocery stores. I've been looking forward to shopping here for some time. The internet hype was incredible and I read all those "Top 10 Things You Should Know about Wegmans" type of articles. This past weekend was my second trip to the store. I was stocking up on a mountain of fresh produce and organic chicken. Wegmans is wonderful for this. If you're about to start a clean eating kick this is a great place to stock up on quality vegetables and fruit. Every department of Wegmans is amazing. Their cheese section, bakery, butcher, seafood, even their bear area is amazing. The Yelp pictures paint a full picture. Anything you could possibly want can be found here. I only wish it was closer. Loved this store! The food not only smelt delicious but tasted delicious!! They have a pub, food section, tea, coffee, and smoothie bar, and a large pharmacy! The beauty section was huge, a lot of products that I have never seen before and took much delight in looking through the aisles and purchasing some! I personally found the prices to be cheaper or just about the same! I loved the baskets as well! The check-out aisles were a bit tight and scrammed but nothing to fret about. Wegmans is indeed my favorite grocery store. Sadly, the closest one to Greenville, SC is found in Richmond, VA. While visiting they told me they plan on opening one in Raleigh, NC so there will be one four hours away from home. While an improvement, for now this store, six hours away will have to tide me over. While visiting my mother-in-law in Virginia we made a stop at Wegmans to get groceries for the week's visit. I brought my daughter with me and we were able to eat lunch and grocery shop together. Wegmans salad/hot food bar is amazing and has a great selection of food. We both enjoyed our lunches and picked up everything we needed to tide us over for the week. I was greatly disappointed to learn they no longer have the miniature Hungarian Sausage and other miniature sausages as they made great protein snacks. read more

Look I was a skeptic about what could be so great about a grocery store.... But Wegman's exceeded my expectations. As someone who really doesn't cook that much this place provides me with everything I need. Tonight I was able to go in and get sautéd chicken and veggies and no wonder how many calories I was really eating. They had bar after bar of hot fresh food selections and an amazing salad bar. My husband got sushi and loved it and the prices were in line with what you would expect for grocery store sushi. Except this roll had real Chesapeake crab meat for only 7.99. I really look forward to exploring more of what Wegman's has to offer. It really seems to meet our family needs. My biggest concern is every time I go by the store looks slammed. So we had to get a late dinner tonight and after 7 seems like a better time to come! read more

I have never been as impressed with a grocery chain as I am with Wegman's. I pass a number of grocery stores on the way from my house to Wegman's every time. The food quality is very good. Staff are 90% of the time as nice and helpful as a person could possibly be. The stores are always clean (so are the bathrooms) and the prices are hands down competitive. I live near an Aldi, a Lidl, a Publix, a Kroger, and a Trader Joe's and none of them can compete with Wegman's produce. I love that you have to bring your own bags and wish every store in the country would do the same. The store is large without being monstrous (sorry Kroger, some of your new stores might as well be shopping malls) and their beer & wine is the best of any grocery store I've ever seen and there's a wine specialist in sight whenever you're looking around for anything from a cheap bottle to go with dinner or a high quality wine to give as a gift. Wegman's is one of those stores that I think do so well that I not only enjoy and appreciate the effort they clearly put into being such a high quality product and service provider, but also defend them when I hear people putting them down. I honestly believe you might be able to cut your level of quality in half and save $2 by going to Walmart, but if you have any discerning taste or value an exceptionally positive experience when going to the grocery stores, then Wegman's is a godsend. You wouldn't know it by the stars, but I am a long time lover of Wegmans and it's still my favorite chain! So why a continued 3 stars? The small but meaningful irritations that haven't been resolved at the southern terminus of the Wegmans empire. Specifically, I'm referencing the poor supply chain management of Wegmans branded and Upstate dairy products. Generally, all of these products are stocked with less than a week before expiration, which I believe is unacceptable! Worse yet was a week ago, when on one visit all of their Wegmans probiotics yogurt had expired the prior day or today, when all but one expired today. The additional issue with some Upstate dairy products are seldom available when I shop on Saturday and even today they only had two. The most aggravating part, for someone who hates to complain, is speaking with smiling people who apologize, but write nothing and I assume, do nothing! read more

We've been shopping at this Wegmans since they opened. It has slowly gone downhill. The quality of the produce has been diminishing. The majority of the cashiers are moody and borderline rude. Today we had quite the time trying to navigate groups of employees just hanging around all over talking. Definitely one of the best grocery stores I've been to. Quite a large assortment of offerings and I'd be surprised if you couldn't find what you need here for basic groceries. It's decorated nicely inside with a home feel. I particularly liked the window decorations on the ceiling walls and the train set that runs above our heads. Only reason I can't give it a 5 star rating is because I thought it was a little cluttered inside. Overall nice, but could use a little fine tuning. read more

Born and raised in the suburbs of Rochester, NY, any taste of home that gets even remotely close to my location is a breath of fresh air. By taste of home, I mean things I cannot get in Raleigh: Dinosaur BBQ sauce (Like Wango Tango, Sensuous Slathering etc...), Chiavetta's BBQ marinate, Bill Gray's hot sauce, Zweigle's hots, Wegman's brand products (such as their earl grey tea and other teas, their veggies, soups and more), Bison dips, certain NY cheeses and the list can go on and on... Two complaints: -The size of this store seems small compared to the NoVA and Fredericksburg stores, and as such, the wine/beer section seems to have been scaled down and looks more like one has just walked into Total Wine, except with a much narrower selection. Space constraints make it seem that other items also appear to be limited such as their vegetables and soups, marinades, sauces and more. -The Pub (and surrounding market cafe') is too small - a 45 minute wait to get into the Pub at lunchtime during a visit with time constraints would mean not having this on my list of places to go for lunch. Seating was extremely limited in the Market Cafe' area, just not enough room. With that, the sushi is fresh and probably better than several sushi restaurants around the Raleigh/Durham/RTP area. From the guy sweeping the floor, to the person pointing us to certain wines, to Managers and cashiers, everyone on the floor seems to be friendly, easy to talk to, knowledgeable, proud to be there and happy to be appreciated. This is an excellent grocery store. Having lots of family that lives up north, there finally is a Wegmans here! I can get these products here myself instead of asking my family to bring them down when they come to visit! Word of caution go early on the weekends it gets very Busy. I believe their wine selection is larger than Total Wine, which is right down the street. I hope they build another one on the Hull street Corredor soon. read more

Went to Wegmans, Midlothian VA last Saturday August 24 2019. We like and visit regularly. We purchased grocery vegetables and fruits.We had bad experience as 2 Bags of 3lb. Each Gala Apples and 1 bag of 2 lb. peach were not good and we had to throw away more than half of it. My wife told we should at least inform them.She called customer service and her reply was casual and cold approach. She did not bothered to ask details and no courtesy to ask name. What can I say, it's a Wegmans!!! If you know anyone from upstate New York, they'll always rave and marvel about how Wegmans is the best grocery store ever. When I was able to visit one a few years back, I can tell why everyone loves it. The store is HUGE!!! The selection of produce, prepared foods, and baked goods are vast, and the prices are hard to beat. We finally have a Wegmans to call our own here in the Richmond area, and it's just as good as the others! I went on opening day with the boyfriend's mom, his whole family grew up in Syracuse. The store is awesome, similar to the other Virginia locations. Other reviewers will note how this store is smaller, but if you're a local Virginian, you'll be impressed and maybe overwhelmed with the size, there's no other grocery store in town like it. Like other Wegmans stores, the store is clean and beautiful, and you will see humongous and diverse selections at the bakery, desserts, hot bar, sushi, meats, and produce. The organic selection is plentiful as well, there's even marinated meats and other packaged foods that are organic! The rest of the aisles are like your normal grocery store, but if you can, buy the Wegmans brand stuff. The quality is awesome, if not better, than the brand name packaged foods. Not to mention cheaper! The smooth marinara sauce, blue corn tortilla scoops, and organic medium salsa are just a few Wegmans brand items that are top notch, can't wait to figure out what else is good! On top of the huge store and selection, the employees are very nice, helpful, and very happy to work there. There's a reason Wegmans always makes it on Fortune's 100 Best Companies to Work For [it was listed at #4 this year!] so it's good to know that the employees here are adding to the awesome Wegmans experience. The store is very very busy right now since it just opened, hopefully when the Short Pump location opens the crowds will thin out, but definitely give this place a visit. Finally, a decent grocery store comes to RVA. That is one thing I have missed since moving here from Charlottesville. Too bad Wegman's is not closer to where I live (including the one planned for Short Pump). DH and I were a bit overcome with sensory overload when looking at prepared food section. They have ready-made and the ready-to-assemble ingredients, depending on how much effort you wish to put into cooking. There is a hot food bar, tons of fresh beautiful produce, meats, bakery, and cheeses. Giant beer and wine section too. As for the rest of the grocery store, the have a big selection of things, many things you would find other stores, many things you would not (like those toasted coconut cookie thins). Prices seem competitive. We did not check out The Pub. But if the food served there looks anything like the prepared foods section, I am sure it could be quite good. read more

I came here wanting to love this store but I just wasn't impressed. I thought the produce looked fresh and I love the variety of prepared meals but I wasn't a fan of the prices. I also was not expecting to be charged for every bag I used. I get it if it's plastic and you want to encourage less waste but they are cheap paper bags with no handles and they ripped before I even left the store. The prepared food section was probably better before covid. Maybe one day when I have more money I'll shop there but for now, the prices are hard to justify when other stores have similar quality and more competitive prices read more
