The thing I really like about this Kroger is that it carries so many more items than the one on the other side of Chester. I frequently find myself coming here merely because I can't get a lot of the stuff I want at the other location. It tends to be pretty similarly stocked and the produce is also generally good. I will definitely keep coming back here because of the items I can only get at this Kroger. read more

I was there October 2, 2024. I took a few groceries up to the checkout. A young girl was there. She rang up my groceries and I proceeded to use my EBT card. I had over three hundred dollars on the card. I put my card in and the code. She said it would not go through and I must not have the money in there. I showed her on my phone app the amount of money that was on the card. She called a woman who was the manager and she could not get it to work either. She was rude and condescending to me. I left the groceries and said I would never shop there again. I proceeded to the dollar tree and had no problem using my card. I wish I would have gotten names. I was too upset. read more

I come to this Kroger all the time. I sometimes sit at the bar to grab a beer or a glass of wine in between shopping. Mostly, all of the bar attendants are very nice. However, there is this one lady there who every time I go takes forever to even greet me (if she even does). Most times she just asks me what I'm having and then someone else shows up and she will have the biggest smile and treat them the way she should be treating all the customers. I honestly think it is because I am a latin and not Caucasian. I'm not going to mention her name because the point of my review is to raise awareness and make a point that unfortunately, we live in a world that still has prejudice. Do better lady! read more

I thought this Kroger was already quite excellent before but they've really shown even more how standout they are during this coronavirus pandemic. In everything from implementing social distancing rules inside the grocery store to hours for the elderly/at-risk, to workers wearing masks and the store keeping up its stocks despite overwhelming sudden demand, this Kroger really shows it is there when people need it. In normal times too I've gotten to explore this Kroger much more (it's such a gigantic facility, even compared to many other major supermarket retailers and Krogers, that you could spend numerous visits and still be finding new parts of the store here and there) and find that it really has such an immense variety of offerings of not just the basics of every kind of item but a ton of specialty products too. A lot of specialty products may be a rare or occasional find at other supermarkets but here they always have a decent selection of them for nearly every type of item - perhaps because of their store capacity/size - and it allows one to try out new things, foods, items, and more all at one location. I still remember how delighted I was when one time I came across The Cheesecake Factory's legendary and tasty bread being sold in bagged loaves but in this Kroger that has become more expected and commonplace than not to find such cool new and interesting products. The store also has a ton of 'little stores' inside - everything from a Starbucks location to a pharmacy, from a small bar area serving draft beers to a sushi counter separate from its large hot food counter - it almost in some ways feels like a primordial mall due to the sheer variety of sections and offerings within it. Nice Kroger close to the State Park campground. They have a few grab and go options, including sushi, chicken, and pizza. Plenty of parking with outdoor seating and a Starbucks. The best feature is the bar area. They fill growlers and sell beer and wine by the glass. During our visit, all pints were $3 and the NCAA basketball tournament was on the TV. read more

This is one of the largest and newest Kroger's Marketplace stores around here. It's a very convenient location in Chesterfield. What makes this stand out from the rest of the Kroger's I've been to is not only the size, but what they have to offer here. They have a Starbucks inside and a nice deli and bakery selection. Their sushi bar is always fresh and the prices for the sushi rolls are inexpensive! There's a salad bar and they have this section where you can scoop out frozen food to prep and make a meal at home; which is my first time seeing something like that in any Kroger. They have a mini bar for wine and two sections of seating areas that are located near the wine area and Starbucks. They sell clothing, makeup, and seasonal decor. Which is nice for a one-stop shop. I like how clean and tidy this place is. My go-to for groceries. read more

I got a dozen beautiful red roses for $4.99 . They had other varieties for $2.54 . They call this Woo Hoo so look for these yellow Woo Hoo stickers on flowers and food items . After watching the development for months, Kroger's MarketPlace in Chester finally opened this week. Given that previous choices were an under cared for Walmart, undersized Martin's, an underwhelming Food Lion or a longer drive to alternatives, the opening of this location was an instant spectacular affair. But, what was on the inside? I have to be honest, this store almost seems to be too much for this area! It was a bright, clean and slickly laid out. In terms of grocery items, the fruit and veggie area was incredible! It all looked like it was just pulled out of the ground and off the vines. There was a healthy selection of organic items mixed in the selection. While not as large an area as we can expect when Wegman's finally enters the market next year, the prepared foods area in this store is larger than we typically see in the area. Add to that a wine, cheese, health food sections and you have a really great store. For the most part, the prices were competitive. Exceptions were noted in sodas, where without a sale going on, pepsi was 4.99 for a six pack, yucca which was selling for 1.99 a pound and while I really didn't venture much into the clothing, etc area. A quick glance at a pair of kid's pajama's was at $20, a bit much for just the bottoms. We are grateful for the opening of this location. It will be the prime grocery location for our family until Wegman's opens up, then we'll see! read more

Yes, I've only been here once but I wish I lived closer. This place has everything. We went looking for groceries but ended up watching the NCAA tournament and having a $3 pint. Then on the way out I picked up a 40 piece sushi platter. It is probably a good thing I don't live close or have a Kroger Marketplace near me. I have a single complaint today: Staff (of various levels) commandeering the 'elder' (small) carts. These were 'resetters' - some sort of roving group - that resets items on shelves. I arrived to NO elder carts in stall, and dragged a huge around for a while. When I first passed this aisle, 4 elder carts were stalled there - these 2 as pictured, and 2 with product or other supplies in them. I found an abandoned elder cart way in the back, swapped, and took these pictures as I could not talk to an appropriate manager. I would bet the stockholders thought they were buying these carts for the customers, not as pocketbook racks for staff or transfer carts for resetting. (I also talked to a contractor who did bring his own cart for his work, so I don't think my expectations are unreasonable.) LET THE CUSTOMERS USE THE CARTS BOUGHT FOR THEM! read more

This new store is far superior that the smallest Martins or oldest Food Lion in Chesterfield. The parking lot will tell you the residence in this area were desperately wanting something different. Pros: I would give Kroger 100 stars for selection and variety. The new store has a modern, contemporary feel. Nicely labels aisle markers helped to navigate the overwhelming footprint of the store. Cons: I don't want my grocery store to be a Wal-Mart. Too much. Grand Opening Gitters- In week one they are still figuring out how to work the pizza oven and make a hot sandwich. Given the high traffic in the parking lot, they may have underestimated demand. Not sure how many people are willing to fight for parking spots at the grocery store every time. read more

Nooooo! I will NOT be returning to this location. First time going here and it will be my last. The worst experience ever!!! Where should I start ok, anyway so I go to the Meat and Seafood department. Interested in maybe buying some crab legs so Elsie approaches me and she doesn't say hello what she says oh how she said it came somewhat Rude. Anyway she's like if you don't want anything I'll go back to my station. Not a people person and that's exactly what she did and she stayed there the whole time I was at the seafood department. Then there was a worker I believe her name was Aaliyah she was at the front of the seafood case putting seafood in the window not one time did she speak or ask anyone if they needed any help. It was like she was in her own world and no one was there. The all star employee was I think her name was Laura she's was definitely the best because she went out of her way to help me and other customers she was very helpful and very friendly. She's definitely in a class by herself. Kudos to her!! Over in the meat department I think his name was Jake he was great also. Then I go to checkout omg did they not know it was Saturday I mean seriously minimum cashier coverage. Cashiers having to bag their own groceries. Wow shouldn't have to happen on a busy Saturday maybe on a slower day. Anyway the original cashier that was working the lane I was in was switched by someone else. On my receipt says her name is Sarah. Well me tell Sarah is freaking clueless she was messing up big time and I'm not exaggerating. She charged me 2x for my steaks which were 26.37. And I asked her y did she ring them up 2x she turns around and Instead of taking them off she ran them up again. I was there's no way my total is this much. Then she told me my card didn't have any money but then I slide it again it worked. She had to get the next cashier to help her. My my!! This location needs to get it together but I'll never find out because they've gotten their first and last 80.00 from me. read more

Went to grab a whole pizza at 745 on a Saturday and was greeted by a rude worker named Kimberly. I asked what their pizza of the day was (because the screen above said ask about the pizza of the day) and she looked at me like I was stupid and pointed to the pizza that had been sitting for what looked like hours behind the glass and said "I don't know. We have these right here" I asked to order a whole pizza and she checked her phone and said it's to late to order because they take 20 minutes. My husband and I are huge Kroger fans and we were over the moon when we found out one was opening within a stone's throw of our house. This place is everything we expected it to be and more. The deli is great, the Murray cheese shop is heaven, but the beer and wine cafe is where it really excels. There's this bar set up where you can order glasses of wine or a pint of beer and it's GOOD wine and beer! The only one we've seen in the area that is similar to this are the Kroger and Whole Foods in Short Pump. This Kroger is rivalling Whole Foods in its upscale design. The only difference is it's much larger than a Whole Foods and carries "department store-type" items such as clothing and furniture. We went only two days after the grand opening and it seemed everyone in Chesterfield was there. It was packed! The employees worked hard to make everyone feel welcome though. There were samples galore, the checkout lines moved very quickly, and there were employees milling about asking if you needed help. I've never been to a Kroger where the employees were so solicitous! They really rolled out the red carpet for the community. Let's hope they keep it up. read more

This store seems fine to shop at, but the cafe, compared to the Kroger Marketplace on Staples Mill Road, has a lot of catching up to do! The Coke machine always has water and ice all over the floor in front of it. Many times, the machine doesn't work at all!! The registers seem to most always be closed, which causes you to have to walk back up to the front of the store to pay!! The dining area is always dirty. Sticky tables, trash on the floor, and sometimes no napkins or condiments. I complained to management twice, to no avail! I'm very disappointed this store turned out this way. I ordered deli chicken meat and they substituted it with cheese?! When I went in the store the deli meat was one of the items in stock. They left a 10.00 item off my order. Never had a problem at this Kroger before, staff has always been friendly and they usually have everything I need, which is nice since the shopping I do here is for one of my jobs. Until today, when an employee stopped me on my way to my car because he wanted to know why I had to put my cart in the corral so far from the store(the one closest to my car) instead of putting it in a closer corral. Really?? You think I have time while working one of my three jobs to stop and think which cart corral makes the most sense? Why would you go out of your way to do that, and then continue asking even after I apologized? I'll be avoiding this Kroger from now on. read more

Used to be my favorite place to shop, because you could shop and pick up dinner or lunch for the entire family while you are there. They had a sandwich station with fantastic subs, a hot food section with fried chicken, pizza, oven roasted chicken and various side dish options. It was the PERFECT place to shop, and everyone in the family could pick what they wanted for dinner. However, they have taken out the Hot food section, the pizza section and the sandwich station, leaving only some sort of Mexican street taco thing. No one in my family wants that. Also, took out the fountain soda machine, so a lunch option would have to include a bottled soda or water. With so much competition in the area, including full restaurants inside of grocery stores, we will not be returning to this Kroger. Its just too inconvenient now to pick up groceries and then go somewhere else for dinner. Many family members and friends feel the same way. I was spending nearly $700 per month here. Now it will be spent somewhere else, and it's a shame. read more

The store itself is amazing. However tonight l bought an italian sub in the deli. It was the most horrific sandwich event of my life. It was the sloppiest, messiest sandwich I have ever had. The bun was laid open with the meat covering it, which is fine, but when the extremely large pieces of lettuce, tomatoes, giant chunky rings of onions and banana peppers are piled onto it and then drenched with mayonnaise and dressing it makes a giant slop pile of soaked bread and slop that falls everywhere and runs down your foreARMS like a river. After getting it home, I ate 1/3 of it and threw the rest away. I ended driving to the WAWA across from this Kroger to get an edible sandwich. read more

Linda in the Floral Department is awesome! I am not from this area, and I had driven 90 minutes to set-up for a surprise birthday party across the street from this Kroger. I ran out of helium (never trust a helium tank from Wal-Mart!) after blowing up only a few balloons, an hour before guests were to arrive. I ran over to the Dollar Tree, directly across from the party venue, and explained my situation to the Dollar Tree manager, and explained that I would pay for how ever much helium he thought my gigantic balloon would take, not to mention that I had no idea where the closest place was to even get a helium tank. The Dollar Tree manager refused to help me. He suggested that I go across the street to Kroger. So I did. Linda was working in Kroger Floral. I told her my situation & that I would pay whatever the blow-up fee is. She listened to me and understood. She blew up my balloon right away AND at no charge! THIS is how you operate a store and give customer service! Dollar Tree should really take note :-) read more

I do love this Kroger store but I can't help but point out a few issues I have seen recently. First of all the last few times I had to bag my own groceries and I looked around and saw multiple lanes with people bagging their own groceries. Also I heard the store manager Ms Jones talking to an employee or future employee and she was very condescending to the girl. It seemed inappropriate to talk to some one that way in front of a customer. So far I am not impressed with management and maybe management should be replaced at this store. read more

After our usual fish and meat supplier and supermarkets were unable to supply a 4-bone beef roast for a planned post-Christmas family gathering, a phone call was made to the Krogers Marketplace. Not only were we informed that the roast was available, but when we checked with the butcher present on Thursday (1-7) afternoon, we were provided with friendly, informative and perfect customer service.
