As a Florida native Publix is a staple in every community. I don't know a single Floridian who…read moredoesn't love Publix. After I joined the Navy in 2014 I saw Publix less frequently unless I went back home to visit. This made me so sad. But now they've expanded to Virginia these last few years and that makes me happy! Publix is the Chik-Fil-A of grocery stores. Hopefully that puts it into perspective for those who have never been. This Williamsburg location is no exception. Friendly staff, excellent customer service as well. You can find food that's localized in Florida that has been imported. The deli section is amazing. They have premade food or you can order it fresh if you prefer. Highly recommend a Publix chicken tender sub with lettuce, tomato, and honey mustard. 10/10 combo. If you live anywhere in the 757 it is definitely worth the drive to visit this location.

When I took the plastic wrap off of my container, I could smell that the food was old. It's that scent of warmer lights and old oil. I still took a bite and the chicken was indeed old. The wedges were old as well. They were hard and chewy on the outside. The cornbread was as hard as a brick. I didn't even bother to open the package. My son and his dad enjoyed their food. They got subs and chicken strips. Publix usually doesn't have nasty food. I probably just caught them on a bad day. I will still go back.

Otherwise, it is an efficient place to go in, get what you want and get out, unlike the huge grocery big box stores that have everything under the sun. One area where this location could save money and possibly reduce prices is by eliminating the "Death Row for Plants". Plant materials are placed outside to dehydrate and fry in the sun. The plants placed inside are not cared for either. We have brought the situation to the attention of the store manager (repeatedly) personally and he wasn't at all interested. Other workers said that they were told not to water the plants. We notified Lidl corporate. They had the correct response, but no action has been taken. When the plants arrive, they are beautiful and high quality but it doesn't take long for the lack of water to destroy the plants and reduce their value to zero. The plant prices are not marked, so most people just walk past and the stock just sits there to cook in the sun. I deducted one star because of the lack of customer service and short staffing the checkouts. I don't think that the employees receive any customer service training. I also deducted one star because of the wasted resources (plants) that have the potential to increase prices

My husband and I were excited when this FM opened. The store is comparable to other Fresh Markets…read morein the area. Per usual, the meat department is excellent, the deli counter is great with very nice and delightful employees, and the produce section (almost) always have what I need. My only real complaints about the store are the layout and the bakery department. The layout is a bit awkward. When you first walk in, you have all this open space in front of the deli and throughout the produce department. However, when you get over to the prepackaged food aisles and frozen foods, it's like those were installed as an afterthought. It is so crowded and clausterphobic over there. Then, when you walk to the beer and wine section right next to those aisles, tons of open space yet again. They really did not think this layout through. As for the bakery, it is definitely a fail for me. I've had positive experiences with the bakeries at other Fresh Markets and rarely have had any issues. This particular Fresh Market might want to speak with the manager that oversees their bakery. I've frequently received items from the bakery counter that were obviously stale. Particularly the cupcakes. The cookies and pies seem to be okay, but the stuff at the actual bakery counter is hit or miss for me. Also, the case with the loose cookies and pastries? I swear that thing is always near empty no matter what time of the day or week I go. The bakery issues can definitely be rectified with a bit more attention to detail with their quality control, which is why I'm not dinging the store too heavily for that. One thing I've learned with Fresh Market is that they can be pretty consistent across the board from store to store with some things while other things (such as departmental issues, customer service) seems to be store-centric problems. Again, management can easily take care of these issues over time and possibly change my rating to a perfect 5-star!

Small local grocery with a small, but fresh, produce department and a meat department with…read moreexcellent examples. The remainder of the store contains most of the usual suspects. I gave 4 stars for several reasons with customer service being #1. Location is #2 and finally it's the best store in this part of Hopewell. Sure they lack in selection and are a bit pricey, but they beat Save A Lot hands down and it doesn't require a long drive elsewhere. Well done!

I went to Randolph Market today to purchase a box of tomatoes at $40 per box. I opened the box to…read moresee if there were any bruised or soft tomatoes. As I found them, I began swapping the bruised soft tomatoes with tomatoes from another box. As I was doing this, I suppose it was the produce man that came at me and in a rather loud voice and said, "Ma'am, what are you doing!?" He startled me walking up on me very rapidly with a loud volume. He did not even introduce himself. He spoke to me as though I was in a corner stuffing tomatoes in my pockets(stealing). I told him I was going to can the tomatoes and they needed to be firm with no spots or bruising. He began chiding me as though I was a child and told me "You cannot build your own box!" "I stood and watched you". Then why ask what I was doing if you watched me the whole time? Now he's playing games with me. He argued with me for a few minutes so I told him I would leave. I put the top back on the box of tomatoes and put the box back where I got it from. As I was leaving, he was walking beside me still arguing with me until I got to the door. At this point, this is harassment. He caused a scene and people were staring at us. The scene was unnecessary and could have been avoided. He told me there were no rotten tomatoes. So why if all the tomatoes are all so good, would it matter if I was swapping one for another? The man was very unprofessional and rather intimidating. If I am going to pay $40 for a box of tomatoes, I certainly want all of the tomatoes to be the best possible for canning them. It's not really what one says when handling a situation, it is how they say it and the tone that they use when saying it. I will never step foot in Randolph Market again if that is the way they deal with their customers. They need to train their employees on good customer service. Especially with men running up on women in such an unprofessional and intimidating manner. Let me give Randolph market a free lesson on good customer service. The employee approaches the woman swapping tomatoes. He says calmly and reasonable, "Excuse me ma'am. My name is ...... I work here in the ....... department. I have been watching you swap tomatoes between boxes. We call that building a box. Our store policy does not allow that. You can purchase a box of tomatoes as is. That would have been an acceptable way to handle the situation without causing a very unnecessary scene in a place of business.
