There are two Wawa locations in the Ashland, VA area. This one is my preferred stop because it is much easier to access from Interstate 95. The other location is farther from an exit and requires navigating multiple roads and intersections. This Wawa is located on Sliding Hill Road (State Route 656), Exit 86B off Interstate 95. It is the first exit north of the Interstate 295 junction. Having not stopped since Maryland, I headed straight to the men's room, which was clean. Wawa provides separate restrooms for men and women. The men's room includes a handicapped-accessible stall, a urinal, one sink, and an air dryer. It was clean, though not spotless. I grabbed a hazelnut coffee from the coffee bar, which was generally well stocked, although they were running low on half-and-half--one container was empty and the other nearly so. I did not see a coffee station attendant at the time. I also picked up a SIZZLI sausage croissant with egg and cheese from the warmer. It was good. I used the self-checkout, and the process was quick and uneventful. Overall, this is a nice store with friendly staff. I've stopped here before and will likely return. read more

I was driving around in the area today when my gas light come on in my car. I looked around for some gas stations and was discouraged because of their prices. I happened upon this Wawa and was very pleased to find that the prices were considerably lower here than they were anywhere else in the area. I got my gas, washed off my windshield and was on my way in no time. I didn't get a chance to go inside but this gas station was fully equipped and in a good location. read more

Another great Wawa. Stopped to refuel, use the restrooms and grab some snacks. The bathroom line was long at midday and we had to wait around 10 min to get in. Thankfully the staff was not bothered by this. The food line was also quite long but we grabbed some chips and water and made our way. read more

Employees are all very nice. Has a public bathroom and PNC atm. Nice selection of candy, drinks and food. I ordered a chicken tender hoagie and it was delicious. My husband ordered a Philly steak hoagie and he said it was also good. I love a friendly WAWA read more

9/18/21 The last time we were here, it was dead quiet in the store. The Coronavirus Outbreak was in its early stages for the summertime. Many people were wearing masks,  gloves and keeping their distance from each other. This time; however,  things are different. People are everywhere.  Some people are wearing masks while many aren't.    I did not recognize this place at first,  but upon seeing where the bathrooms were, it jogged my memory.    Upon heading out of Wawa's, I saw grapes that got my attention.   I thought about buying some, but thought better of it. I would get my source of fruit later on. Time to move on to our next location. read more

A beautiful place to fill her up on our long journey. The covering kept us dry from the rain while getting gas and although we didn't enter this establishment Wawa is always solid and I can't imagine a below average experience at ANY Wawa. Love laugh kachow! read more

This Wawa is on point. We stopped while on a road trip during a busy lunch rush on a Friday, and put in a food and drink order for five people. I walked in and I thought yikes this place is too busy, and I almost walked out. But then I saw the people making the food, particularly a guy who may have been a manager (calling out orders, encouraging the staff), and everyone was HUSTLING. They were putting together orders and getting them out very fast, despite the crowd. I was really really impressed when we got our order which was pretty big. The manager- looking guy told us to be safe on the road and made a joke about how we had ordered a whole Wawa feast, it was very charming. I'm only taking away one star because they were so slammed, the bathrooms and the store needed some picking up, trash here and there on the floors, etc. read more

I have worked with people who always talked about WAWA's. We were driving in VA and I spotted one and could not resist. The layout of the store had a nice layout and very welcoming atmosphere. Staff was very helpful. It was like a mini grocery store. Lotto tickets are sold in a kiosk machine. So if you purchase one make sure you have exact amount. I purchased a soda and the girl at checkout was so nice. I see why WAWA's are so popular read more

This WaWa is a shining star for the WaWa chain! Walking into the store, the cashier immediately greeted me with a warm smile & a friendly "Welcome!" WaWa has so many options for snacks, drinks, coffee, smoothies, shakes, & freshly made sandwiches. I ordered the Italian hero toasted with the toppings of my choosing & it was superb!!!!! I know that NY has so many various options for food, but I truly wish we had WaWas!!!' I love them!! read more

Gotta love Wawa's - they always seem to have the cheaper petrol about compared to other forecourts. I think that Costco tends to give them a run for their money, but then not everyone is a Costco member, so that can be restrictive in terms of general accessibility. And the fact that Wawa's are also handy for a coffee also makes me a regular to their forecourts. read more

Not just gas... lots of stuff as a pitstop!

The boyfriend and I have a weird passion for certain Wawa's. There is this particular Wawa, and then another one in New Jersey near the Six Flags that we frequent all the time while traveling around 95. We have probably been here at least five times by now for gas, snacks, or both and seek it out. This Wawa is easily accessible by two different 95 exits, has a huge parking lot, friendly staff and is clean. Clean restrooms are important. Love their soups, and there are some good options in the candy section such as large banana-flavored now&laters and nerds ropes, which are surprisingly not that easy to find anymore. I was especially pleased during my last trip to see that they carry all the different Skittles variations. It is awful when you make a pit stop and are in the mood for Tropical Skittles but all they have is the regular and the Wildberry, though those aren't bad either. They also had giant bags of Baked Lays for road snacks - slightly healthier than the Cool Ranch Dorito bag I usually get. Anyway, we always walk out of this Wawa satisfied. It is nicely situated maybe halfway between downtown Richmond and King's Dominion - good for picking up snacks on the way to the amusement park, and probably about 2 hours from DC - a good stopping point to pick up your first or second coffee on a road trip. They also have healthier snacks like yogurt, hard boiled eggs, carrot stick things and cheese sticks. OH! And a great coffee bar with large cups. The only thing that would make the coffee bar better is adding a cinnamon shaker. Wawa is the best! read more

Service was excellent we were traveling back to Durham NC and had to stop for gas and snacks.

This gas station was pretty normal as far as convenience, cleanliness, product offerings, etc....but gets a 5 Star from me based on customer service. Came in looking for saltine crackers because a passenger in my car wasn't feeling well. The Wawa didn't have these crackers for sale but did have individual packs in their sandwich condiments section. The gentleman working understood our problem and offered as many packs as we needed for free (we did purchase other items). Little things like this go a long way. We don't have Wawa in South Carolina but I'll make it a point to visit other locations when I travel. read more

A bunch of us were waiting in line for quite a long time (2-3!minutes) with no one at any of the registers. People were starting to get flustered and were mumbling "what the hells going on here" etc. A young woman (staffer) named Riek appeared and asked the group "are you people in a rush?" Quite snotty. I then stated her asking such a question to customers is quite unprofessional and she didn't seem to care - kept up the same hostile, snotty attitude. To top it off - the place is a pig pen. Bathroom trashed and sloppy. One food handler - God only knows where those hands have been. Gross and rude. Worst WAWA I have ever been in. read more

We just love Wawa. As we travel from NC to NJ we always stop to get a sandwich, coffee, and gas. They have the best bread for their sandwiches. It's so soft and fresh. I love the fact that you can add your own creamer and pour it out of the carton instead of having to pump tiny squirts a million times...so exhausting. Their bathrooms are always clean. read more

If you're driving on 295 and need a quick pitstop, this is your place. It is literally right off the interstate. You do not have to drive 4 miles to get to it, which I really appreciated. That said, this Wawa is just awesome! The staff are super friendly and very helpful with some great insights. The store is clean, bright and well maintained and managed. There are snacks galore and good coffee to be had along with excellent breakfast options. They have pretty much anything you might need when you're on the road. I stopped here to gas up and had no intention of actually going inside, but was really happy that I did. I picked up a few snacks and sundry items and was on my way with a smile on my face. I cannot stress how important it is to find places on the road that or just off the exit, as opposed to those roadside signs that promise food and gas at the exit, only to find yourself lost looking for something remotely resembling the promise. read more

This Wawa like the others i have been to is quick and clean. The parking lot can sometimes be very crowded and difficult to navigate through. The air pump is in need of an upgrade. The staff is always polite. Food is always tasting good, and coffe always hot and fresh! Gotta love Wawa! read more

Wawa is shorthand for delicious coffee on the road, plus made to order sandwiches and other goodness. I stick with the plain brewed coffees instead of the fancier drinks since, unlike Sheetz (their more Southern counterpart), I have yet to find a Wawa that offers soy, rice or almond milk, and dairy milk and I do not get along. You can count on Wawa to be clean, offer fresh food and caffeine, and have a competitive price on gasoline - not a bad combination at all! read more
