One thing for sure is Five Guys will never disappoint you! If you have a big appetite and like to overindulge this is definitely the best place for a burger. Big taste comes with a Big price tag. This is not Wendy's. I usually order the little bacon cheeseburger with lettuce, tomato, grilled onions, ketchup, mayo and mustard. It's always cooked to perfection. It's greasy and juicy. The regular burger is a little too much for me but my husband seems to really enjoy it! They also have fries and milkshakes! I rarely eat inside Five Guys but they have cute diner feel. Delicious fries made in a dedicated fryer! I love finding Celiac safe fries! They also have an option to put burgers on a lettuce wrap instead of a bun. If you let them know it's an allergy, they have protocols in place. I will say, the protocols are a bit hit or miss and seem to depend on who is working. I don't understand how this location has such a low rating. It is by far the friendliest, most clean Five Guys I've ever been to. I don't stop by frequently, but when I do, I always receive the most beautifully crafted burger I've ever gotten at a Five Guys. My burger is never soggy and wet here like it is with other locations. The only thing I don't like about this location is the shopping center. It's annoying as heck to exit the shopping mall and get back onto the main road. First impression, the tables needed wiping, and we got there just before noon. The staff was friendly, and seemed to be working diligently so not sure what the table neglect was all about. After we ordered, we waited about 7ish minutes for our meal which was one double hamburger and a small fry. We asked them to cut the sandwich in half as we were sharing it. The hamburger itself was pretty good. The mushrooms are canned, not fresh, which I found odd since they are sauteed. The burger came with a very small slice of tomato that was only on one side of the burger, and a thin leaf of lettuce. They could have been more generous with the toppings for sure. Dang is five guys expensive! Forty dollars for all of this seems like a lot. And we didn't even get drinks! I will say though, the food quality is spectacular. And the quality is too. Once you bite into that burger, you don't regret your purchase. The veggies on the burger were fresh and added a nice flavor and crunch. The bun was good as well, it was soft and added a nice chew. It was a little soggy on the bottom though. The meat itself is very good. It has good flavor and it's seasoned nicely too. I do wish the bacon was crispier. The fries this go around were okay. They were still good but they need to have more sauces. Having just ketchup and vinegar makes it so that after eating a couple of those fries you get a significant amount of flavor fatigue. Having a special sauce or something else could go a long way in making the experience better. They give you so many fries but after a while you get sick of dipping them in the same thing. A change of pace would be nice. The store was very clean and the service was okay. It did take a little longer than expected to get my food but that's okay considering how much we ordered. Worst experience at this five guys I called my order ahead of time to be able to pick up my food. I get there in 30 min I go to pay and not even the burgers were made yet. They closed my beloved Mechanicsville Five Guys. I was "First to Review" that spot and I miss it terribly. I had 24 check-in's for that location. Sigh. Anyway. I figure I'll just Copy & Paste that review here. So, without further ado... =================================================================== If you're a resident of Virginia and haven't eaten at Five Guys yet, hit yourself over the head with a hammer! Seriously, Five Guys was founded in the Commonwealth. History lesson time! Five Guys Burgers & Fries was founded in 1986 by Janie and Jerry Murrell. Jerry and his 4 sons (Matt, Jim, Chad, and Ben) made up the original "Five Guys." Jerry, being the old sailor that he is, had a fifth son (Tyler) and now the current "Five Guys" are all 5 sons. They opened up their first store in Northern Virginia, specifically the affluent county of Arlington, VA. Nobody loves a burger like a useless federal employee. Does this guy know his target market or what? When I first walked into Five Guys I immediately thought of my beloved In-N-Out. In fact I almost did a double-take they were so similar. Even down to the way the employees dressed. They had eerily similar menus as well. Both places offer just the basics: burgers, fries, and drinks. No fish or chicken sandwiches, no salads, no parfait bullshit, and especially no weird seasonal anomaly like the McRib. What you see is what you get - FRESH ingredients, a courteous staff, and a little bit of a wait. They may have blatantly ripped off the In-N-Out model but this is nothing new or original. Back in the 1950's ALL burger joints looked like this. The ingredients were fresh, the hamburger meat wasn't frozen, and people loved it. This model works because IT SHOULD HAVE STAYED THIS WAY. All the big burger chains (McDonalds, Wendy's, Burger King, etc.) are corporate giants now. It's all about cost and maximum profitability and not about the "product" anymore. Since when is FOOD a product anyway? The price of a Five Guys burger is higher than average and people are happy to pay it. Paying $2 more for a burger that's made FRESH is worth every penny. Five Guys have a ton of locations now and I'm glad Virginia's little treasure is being enjoyed around the country. read more

I never write reviews, but I was so unhappy with the service that I feel I have to. I order a grilled cheese with several add-ons, an order of fries, and a milkshake.. I waited around 20-30 minutes saw several people with later numbers pick up their order. After I asked where my food was they said it would be right out. After another 5-10 minute wait I was finally given my meal. I went home went to eat my grilled cheese and it was cold with nothing that I asked for on it. So after waiting 30+ minutes I got something I did not asked for, waste of time and money. read more

If you're going to have the nerve to charge almost $19 for a burger and fries, you better make sure it's the best food around. And it's NOT! Burger was decent but small (shrinkflation, COVID, I'm sure they've got plenty of excuses). Fries were WAY too salty and none were more than an inch long. Terrible customer service. I placed an online order and it stated that it would be ready in 12 to 15 minutes so I rode across town on my way home and got to the restaurant and my food wasn't ready. The associate told me she was just dropping my fries so that would fresh...as if I didn't have anything to do but wait as if I placed an order in the store. Yep. I went to 5 guys and was very satisfied! Five Guys has always been A-Ok in my book. Sometimes you just need greasy fries and and a burger to make your day. What sets Five Guys apart is that their burgers are actually good. Not Burger Bach good, but good enough to soak up a hangover or satisfy a greasy spoon craving. Their bread is what really took it over the top for me. Something about it is so, so good. Everything tastes really fresh. Most people talk about how good the fries are. They're not my favorite fries in Richmond, but they're definitely some of the best fast food fries you can find. Do yourself a favor. Skip the big mac and the whopper and get yourself a double patty five guys burger. read more

Allow me to tell you about my horribly disturbing experience at the Stuart Crossing location. I ordered 2 cheeseburgers and fries for my wife and I through the app. Upon arrival, I walked in and there was no one in line and a handful of people waiting for their order. There were two people finishing up the burgers and one rude, disrespectful heavy set older woman. I waited at the 'Pick Up Here' sign and was promptly ignored multiple times. I get it - its busy, its almost at the end of the night, BUT this was different. She passed probably 3-4 orders right past my face without even acknowledging my presence or asking if I was here to remodel their kitchen or pick up an order. It felt deliberate and I felt humiliated as I tried to politely get her attention but everytime she passed an order by me, thanked someone for their business, she quickly turned around and sprinted back to avoid conversation. It wasn't until the person wrapping up the burgers said "uhhh you hear for a web order?" I responded yes and sure enough....my order, now cold was sitting on the table where the lady walked by no less than 10-15 times as I stood there for about 5-7 minutes...the most embarrassing, humiliatingly long 5-7 minutes when my order had been ready before I even walked in the door. The guy that finally acknowledged my presence hastily through fries in the bag and again...noticeably less than any single person that went before me. Why was I singled out? This felt deliberate and unfair. Is this how your staff treats people? Obviously not, because everyone else got kindness and courtesy but I got ignored. I was so impressed with this location. I have celiac so I have to get my burgers without a bun. I'm also recently diagnosed and find it uncomfortable do anything more than ask for it off the bun. The guy at the counter asked me if it was preferrance or dietary without being pressed and when I responded dietary they had a worker wash their hands and change their gloves. The worker only worked on my meal until it was done to avoid cross contamination, again all without being asked! First time at this specific Five Guys location since they opened a little bit ago. The service was good and the food came up relatively quick. The fries could have used a little less salt next time. The cheeseburger was good I just wouldn't recommend lettuce or mayo unless you eat the burger right away as the bread gets a little soggy. The five stars are for the workers that constantly go above and beyond to make sure customers' experiences are great. Thank you ViVi for always being the bubbly helpful worker even while dealing with a terrible manager. I feel bad for them because their manager is awful. While dining in myself and other customers witnessed the manager Tati clap her hands in an employee's face while verbally degrading her. This is not the first time that I've witnessed this manager be disrespectful and unprofessional towards other workers. And to constantly display this type of behavior in front of customers. I can only imagine how she treats them behind closed doors.This behavior is unacceptable and should not be tolerated in any place of business. I like this new place. The old one out in Mechanicsville mysteriously closed down and no one knows why. They serve simple food here that doesn't make you feel like you're in some weird dream with things you don't recognize. You want a big, juicy burger? Fine you can have as much as you like. Nobody will tell you different. You want some French fries without going to La Petite France downtown? You can get them here sans snails. At this Five Guys, there's often a big rig truck jack-knifed in the shared parking lot by the new Starbucks blocking things so be on the lookout for it. Someday it's going to cause a fender bender but not with my readers. I don't blame the drivers or the establishments, I blame the developer. There's no place in the back for it to fit because of the drive-through lane setup. Maybe they should've just bulldozed the nursery school beside the hotel that's in the way, moved it a few feet over, then they'd have more room behind the new Five Guys and Starbucks. I give the architect two stars. This Five Guys is next door to a paint store which may present problems. It probably made sense to the big wigs but I think they'd be better served to be next door to a Five Below. They do have one nearby about 1600 feet north as the crow flies on Route 1. They are not competitors so there's no problem with the similar names. If you've never been, it's important to know that women work at Five Guys too. The name probably came about because the first five people they hired by coincidence were all guys and they just went with it. Five Guys and One Girl would've made no sense once the second location opened, so there you go. Back inside, you'll notice a little taste of Richmond at this Five Guys because just like their Willow Lawn and Innsbrook locations, they sell unlimited free peanuts for all. You just go in, get a little serving thing and scoop them up. I eat them without peeling the shell because you lose a lot of salt flavoring and fiber if you peel them. If you have certain medical conditions, you probably should peel them or just not eat them at all. It seems like all the youth of today have peanut allergies so keep the kids in the car with the A/C on during the allergy season soon upon us. This place has good customer service because I waited for my meal once and they just gave me a free milkshake, just like that, because THEY thought it should've been faster. They even let me pick the flavor. I went with Oreo but the little cookie pieces got stuck in the straw. I got a lot of upper GI air in me that night because I was trying to be a tough guy and insisted on using it. Don't be like me that terrible day, just use a spoon and make your life a little easier. All the chairs and tables are solid oak, maybe ash but it's definitely one of those two, no question. My eyes aren't what they used to be. They have newspaper clippings on the wall so you can read other people's reviews. The tiling is white and red checkerboard style. The burgers come professionally wrapped in real insulating foil, not those styrofoam contraptions other places were using up until the late 80's. If you like custom soda machines, they have one here. However, if you try to make a Cherry Vanilla Dr. Pepper, don't be fooled, it's probably not the same recipe as the product of the same name from 2005. I don't know why Dr. Pepper stopped making it since it was an American obsession for a few months. The diet version suffers the fate as all diet sodas do, that being they're terrible so they don't even count. Regardless, it is technically a fountain drink machine here and it is the way of the future. If you ever dine out and the waiter pours your soda from a bottle, dump it out in the bathroom sink and ask for something else. If you forgot the glass in the john, just tell the server you don't know where it is. Whenever I'm at Five Guys, I get what's called the "Kittle Special" which is two or three Bacon Cheeseburgers with ketchup and mayo, a Little Cheeseburger with only mustard, a Bacon Cheese Dog, an Oreo Cookie Pieces shake, a large Coke and a medium Five Guys Style cup of fries. If you get it all to go, they basically just fill a grocery bag with fries and throw a paper cup on top. To get that much goodness for so few dollars is a real treat in today's day and age. If my wife goes to Five Guys, she adds a Cheese Veggie sandwich but I make her order separately because I think it's ridiculous to go to such a place and not get a few pounds of meat. I still pay for it, she just orders before me and we don't converse till we get back to the truck. I don't want to embarrass myself in front of the kids working there. My wife's not political, she likes meat otherwise, it's just she really likes their Cheese Veggie Sandwich a lot.
