Great burgers! Don't be fooled by any lack of presentation. Great flavors here! Awesome customer service! Friendly, accommodating. The dining area was a very clean, bright environment. Back to the flavors for just a moment... There's obviously Texas roots or influence going on here. That is meant in the best way. The flavors in the burger builds offered, the shiner box in the cooler, and the fried pickles were a pretty good giveaway. We had the burgers and the fried pickles and they were both on point! This might be the most average burger I have ever had. It tasted like absolutely nothing, despite it having blue cheese, caramelized onions, and a balsamic glaze. The fries (not pictured) were completely devoid of salt. The Bacon burger was similar to a McDonald's burger, and honestly lack luster and disappointing for a fast casual burger exclusive joint. The service was fine, considering it is just ordering at a counter. I would rather save a couple bucks and just go to a fast food place, or spend the same amount somewhere else for a better burger. read more

Some friends suggested this spot for lunch today, and I then recalled how it had been many years since I've dined here. Upon entering there was a pungent smell of bleach and cleaning products, which I guess I can be thankful to know they have prioritized cleanliness, but I'll admit is was a little overpowering. I was also shocked when visiting the restroom that they had plug in air fresheners. So it's clear this business takes their cleaning and freshness serious. The decor is pretty basic and doesn't give much of a vibe. Pretty standard wallpaper, booths, and tables, but a weird green bubble wall behind the soda machines. Nonetheless, it was all clean. Lots of families were inside dining, but admittedly it's pretty pricey as burgers don't come with sides or drinks. So, this can add up quickly for a family dining. You order at the counter and that's really the most interaction you'll have with the staff. They give you a table number and bring the food out when ready, but service is limited as it's more so self service beyond the counter and one-time table visit to bring the food. The food was great though. I was shocked they didn't ask what temp or doneness you want the burgers cooked to, but thankfully seemed to be medium well to well ish. I ordered the BBQ bacon burger and added a small fry. Clearly the fries are huge and definitely shareable. My friends ordered a large fry and onion rings. So much food - one large fry would have been more than sufficient for the table. The burger was fresh and reminded me of a fresher, better, local version of Red Robin's Whiskey River burger. Definitely recommend. To no fault of the restaurant the fries definitely taste better when first coming out and being super hot. They kinda get hard as they get cold, so talk and eat wisely for the best experience! Overall, glad I had the opportunity to revisit this business after many years, and would gladly recommend it to anyone looking for a good burger in the west end. read more

3.5 really. First time here.. strolled in on a friday afternoon, it was quiet, clean and employees were friendly. Built my own burger.. choose patty, bun, toppings.. premium toppings extra charge. I got a beef burger, classic bun, white cheddar, blue cheese, mustard, A1, tomato, lettuce and bacon. It was absolutely delicious.. the meat was juicy though otherwise nothing special (no discernible seasoning and on the thinner side). But the toppings were fresh and good quality making the thing tasty. This plus an order of subpar tots were $20 (no drink) so i would say it's pricey, but a decent stop for a decent burger! read more

Came here for lunch and got the blue burger and parm fries. The burger had onions, blue cheese, and a wine glaze. The melted blue cheese, onions, and wine sauces paired very well together. The fries itself were very average, it lacked flavor however the portion size was very generous which I loved. Burger was ~$11 and fries were ~$5. It felt like a higher end of a five guys. Did not expect much from this local chain. However I walked out with a full belly of burger, fries & shake that was darn good. Parking is easy to access off the main road and plenty of parking that was clean. The walk up to the door was also debris free. There are several tables in front and side for outdoor seating. All the tables were cleared. Inside it's spacious with booth seating on the perimeter, tables and chairs in the center. Drinks are self serve. Ordering is up front with the line to the right of the long wall along the exterior windows. My visit on a Saturday afternoon found them with light business. Many of the customers opted for outdoor dining. The wait was not long to place orders. The large menu board makes it easy. I had a BBQ burger and fries. My son a bacon cheese burger and chocolate shake. They do offer veggie burgers too! Total was around $30 with tax. So do expect to spend about with a Five Guys would be. A number is given to place on the table., Our party of 10 sat inside in the center of the restaurant. I don't recall any music, but that's a good thing for me in large groups to hear better. The decor is very plain. Within 10 minutes or so orders were coming out. Everything is served in metal baskets. The shakes were delicious but challenging to drink through a thin straw. My burger was presented nicely and excellent with everything fresh! I estimate a 1/3 lb. Others had loaded fries, sweet potato fries, tots and various burgers. Everyone agreed that they enjoyed. Burger Works w. Broad St. Saturday 12:56pm 1/18/20 My first time at Burger Works. I'm still looking for that "wow" burger. Upon entering Burgerworks on West Broad Street it in instantly put me in the mind of five guys. the menu... weird how they have the nerve to charge for Condiments when you order more than three. That alone almost made me walk out. But, curiosity caught me. I don't like that there are not napkins on the table, especially since burgers can be messy. You have to walk to the condiment area to get more napkins if you need them. Upon arrival There was only 1 family here, eating. I'm not sure if that's good or bad lol. During my stay five more the families showed up . I ordered the classic burger with a fried egg and bacon. I also ordered the onion rings which were a whopping $4.95. VERY expensive. All together my order came up to $18 for a burger, onion rings and a soda. That is expensive! Classic burger w/bacon and egg - awe dang! It's not fully cooked. I then asked The gentleman (possibly the manager)that worked there, if the burgers were generally not cooked all the way. He said no. Medium well. With no hesitation, he asked if I wanted another one cook well done. Yes, thank you. 2nd burger - taste good . The bacon was cooked perfectly. As my previous post on Luther Burger, this burger is also very thin. Where's the beef??!!! I'm not even sure how one cooks such a thin burger medium . The same gentleman asked if this was better, yes it was. Thanks for checking back. Onion rings - not cooked as hard as I like but still taste ok. The dip they came with I didn't care for. Taste kind of ranchy. Not worth $4.75. Really Good customer service. I'm on the fence with 2 or 3 stars. I'm going with 2. 1 for customer service and 1 for overall food taste. The price and condiment issue as well as the thin burger took away the rest of the stars. Will I return, probably not. Mainly because it's too expensive for a thin burger. First the good. The burger and fries at this place are OUT OF THIS WORLD. I want to emphasize the fries are unreal. Excellent! I'm vegetarian so I got the "fake" burger but it was the best! Also the staff are uncommonly nice. They smile. They really mean it when they ask "Is there anything else else I can get you?" This place is tucked away in a strip mall but so worth it. Fair warning... Both times I've been there have been a lot of kids. It's very kid friendly... So know that.. Order to go if you can't deal... Good place for smash burger with lots of options! Prices are pretty decent for what you get. We stopped in and I appreciate that 4 people with very different tastes could all get exactly what they wanted. Impossible Burger for the vegan, bison burger for the carnivore, regular ol beef burger for me. The toppings were fresh and tasty. My only complaint was my burger was a touch on the dry side, I ordered a sauce but there was only a tiny amount so it didn't help. Although I know now to ask for extra! We also decided to split a small fry and good grief! Basket of fries was HUGE!! We couldn't even finish it. As for the atmosphere, the space is huge and seating is spaced well. The music was a bit loud. We definitely had trouble holding convos. But the music was good so at least there's that. At the end of the day, I'd go again. read more

I order the burger with the whole wheat bun, but you have other options, including lettuce. I share my burger with my eldest born, hence the bread. You can order a variety of meats, toppings etc. but did I tell you about that bison! Whoa for now I'm very happy and they fill my protein hankering with flavor and goodness! My go to for burgers and fries in Richmond. While their burger selections are good, I prefer the a-la-cart method to make my own combination. Multiple options for protein (beef, chicken, bison, bacon), buns including lettuce if you are forgoing bread, and tons of different toppings including a large variety of standard and original condiments. Always tasty and fresh. Secondarily, the best fries in town in my opinion. Note: fry baskets appear expensive but they are really big and one basket will feed multiple people; AND, you can order the fries crispy! It's not noted on the menu but they will accommodate it. I hate soggy fries. Made to order fries and a huge selection of sauces?! AWESOME. This restaurant serves beer if you are in the mood. The rest of the menu was limited too. Look and feel was clean and modern. Not sure if I was supposed to have been asked how I liked my burger done (Blues Burger), but it was medium rare. We came here as our usual spot had a line out the door. When we first entered, it looked pretty busy with to-go pickup orders. We ordered and sat down, but our table? We had to wipe down ourselves--no one at any point realized they needed to do this, and we chose the CLEANEST booth. This means, yes; Other tables were not wiped down and just sat there, ignored. The "small" fries is large enough to share, and the burger is strictly average. Like a lot of places, their niche is to try and find some kinda of combo of flavors that make their food unique. Like a lot of places, this failed and the food was, honestly, average and forgettable. What was memorable is how dirty the tables to sit at were and how long we waited for our order, which was a lot longer than I expect of any restaurant serving this type of fair. First time into a Burgerworks, exactly what I expected, left feeling very satisfied! I ordered a build my own burger with bacon and cheese and a side order of regular fries. The person taking my order was polite and efficient but a bit.. odd. Very interesting sense of humor. I asked him how his day was.. "Not good." He said, "but that's life. I'll be right with you." Anyway.. I sat down after getting a sweet tea and not long after my fries arrived. The basket of hand cut fries was hot, fresh, and perfectly salted. Not too much or too little. I also liked that they were right in between soft and crispy (I personally don't like soggy fries). The burger came out less than 10 minutes after ordering, made to my order and cooked perfectly. The bun tasted fresh and was perfect for a juicy and surprisingly thick single patty. The burger tasted fresh, was served quickly, and eaten quickly! The store itself was also very neat and clean. The staff served all customers at their table which was a nice touch as well. Overall: solid burger spot. Food arrived quick and to order, tasted great, and left me very satisfied. I've really been on a roll with the 4 star reviews, and this hasn't broken the streak. To start off with, the staff was super friendly and checked on us during our meal a few times. Which was very kind of them. I ended up getting the SOB burger which was a little spicy, and really a good burger all the way around. They had a few preset options, but they also had options to make your own burger, so it would be easy to mix and match to make your own perfect burger. Also, my friend and I split an order of the Parmesan fries and fried pickles. Both were good. The Parmesan fries were a much bigger order than I expected, but I was totally okay with that. Bison Burger with White Cheddar, Chipotle Mayo, Bacon, and Vidalia Onions, along with a side of fries and a drink. -All-Natural Grass Fed Bison Burger: Some of the Specialty burgers looked like they had way too many ingredients, and I knew if I got one I'd end up all messy. Not that I won't try one eventually, but I wanted a relatively straightforward burger. The burger itself was great. While the taste itself is similar to beef, the lack of fat was noticeable and very appealing. I believe that they gave me normal Mayo instead of Chipotle Mayo. (Unless their Chipotle Mayo is completely white and tastes like normal mayo, hah.) I was hoping to have a little extra spice that would have been provided, but it's alright, the mayo was still good. The bacon and the onions tasted good, but the underlying burger flavor won it for me. -Fries: More or less what I was expecting. They're thin cut and slightly crispy, and you can tell they're made from real potatoes. The menu says that they are "tossed with our special blend of seasonings", but as far as I'm concerned that blend consists entirely of salt and a little bit of pepper. I think next time I'll try an order of those Parmesan fries or the Bacon Cheddar ones. That said, they weren't bad! Just... fries. --Cost: The burger was I believe $9 and some change, fries $2, and drink $2. Totaled about $14. It's a bit on the high side, but honestly the burger was delicious and there aren't many places you can get Natural bison burgers that I've seen. --Atmosphere: I went at 2:30 PM and I was one of two people in the restaurant. The main dining area is big and spacious and offers booths and tables. The place was super clean as well. --Service: Other people mentioned it as well, but the staff here is super nice. The lady that was working asked how I enjoyed my meal as if she truly cared and was looking for feedback. --Overall: Despite the small oversight with the chipotle mayo and the average fries, I feel this is a place that I will be returning to. The BEST burger spot in the Richmond area!!!! I drive from the south side past multiple Five Guys (also good of course!) when I have a cheeseburger craving. Consistency is key and I've been coming here for years and have never had a bad burger. The one time my burger wasn't correct, they had it rectified immediately. Besides the fact that the burgers are delicious (clearly the star of the show), the fries are equally as good! I'm a hard core malt vinegar fan, but these fries are seasoned so perfectly I've found that I don't even need the malt vinegar! Anyway, I really wish they would open up a location in the south side, or maybe I don't as I would want to eat there several times a week lol. But do yourself a favor and give them a try! read more

Overpriced, slow and suspect it made us sick. Went there early in the evening and waited over thirty minutes for the order to be ready. I asked staff twice to check on my order. After 25 minutes I was told it would be ready in 10 minutes. It wasn't busy and a number of customers that ordered after us got their meal and nearly finished eating. Later that night my son got sick and for the next few days all three of us have had stomach issues. The one family member who didn't eat there feels great. This may be a fluke, but to us it's not worth going back. read more
