Graduations, parties and this weekend we had their chicken at my daughters surprise engagement party! Everyone loves it and it goes fast! It's super easy to call, order and have ready the day of the party!

We paid, and were given order number: 873. There wasn't enough chicken prepared to fill our order, so they told us it would be 6 minutes for the next batch. Well, that batch came and they immediately started filling orders that came in after we had placed our order. 881... 882...883... 890! They filled a half-dozen or more orders before our order number was even started. Then, as they began filling our order they were out of chicken (breasts) again! We continued waiting, and after 20 minutes without an update, I asked how much longer is this going to take? Answer: another 15 minutes or so!!! I get it: Mistakes happen. What matters is how they are recovered from, and Royal Farms staff did nothing to try to make it right. We weren't offered substitution options. We weren't offered a complimentary fountain drink while we wait. We weren't even offered an apology for the mis-ordering of order fulfillment. The attitude seemed to be, "We have your money; you'll get your order when we give it to you." It took nearly an hour to get our order, from the time we paid until the time it was handed to us. This is unacceptable. We will never order chicken from this location of Royal Farms again. Postscript: They placed our hot, steaming, crispy chicken in two separate sealed zip-locked plastic bags. During the 10-minute drive home that steam managed to turn that crispy, crunchy breading into a slimy, goopy, slippery mess. Thanks again, Royal Farms! Nope; never again!

As I said, they have sun sheltered parking off to the left of the main parking, a great option when it's 99 degrees outside, and a decent rain shelter too, though it would be a bit imperfect. The store is typical Whole Foods though a tad smaller than the location I'm used to, it still has great options for vegetables especially organic, and other healthy items like kombuchas and limited ingredient prepared foods and some great meat and cheese options. I asked for directions to find an item on the shopping list and had a friendly response, and our checkout person was friendly and helpful too. The market was busy and but not overcrowded and there is a lot of space around the perimeter (they say shop the perimeter for the best foods and WF seems to have given thought to giving you more room for that and a tad less for the aisles, a decent approach for my tastes. They were having an issue with their freezers on this day but had the wherewithal to direct customers to the location the frozen items had been moved to, a very customer-friendly move. The AC kept things nice and cool inside on a very hot day. And the meat department was even more chilled. From my Mother, While WF can be a bit more expensive, they offer Prime Deals often and carry a 365 prime brand that is dependably low priced and high quality. Watch for a once a year ice cream discount too!

Do not tell me in this day and age that is not possible. That is a choice. That's a choice Amazon and Whole Foods is making to make the lives of their customers harder. I have a prime account. I check out my own items. I use the card you promote and have a digital receipt. Yall can laugh and hang up on me and say that isn't the way you do things. That's fine but I'll just got to Kroger then. Because of the way they do things. When there's choices treating people fairly instead of giving them the run around matters. Especially when your products are expensive. Maybe Whole Foods and Amazon will change their policies if enough of us say enough is enough. Probably not but it's worth adding five minutes to a 45 minutes saga of unsuccessfully getting a refund for moldy bread. As if there aren't enough reasons to cancel prime.

We went again tonight and I was very impressed with the food again. I had a salad that was very tasty and fresh. We also had the pizza and fries. At our table we had the fried chicken, Philly cheese steak, a chicken bacon ranch wrap and onion rings. Everyone enjoyed the food. The staff is friendly and attentive. They make you feel very welcome. We love the patio, especially on warmer days. It's a great way to spend an evening. The music was fantastic! My only complaint is the communication about the acts and events. They used to have a billboard out front with the acts and updated their social media more frequently. All in all a great way to spend an evening with friends.

So I had really been wanting to check this place out because I read that they have been open since…read morethe late 1950s and that they are a compound pharmacy- which is really cool. I went in and stood at the counter to check out for about 3 minutes with no one around to ring me up. Then, someone who works there makes eye contact with me from the back of the store and I know that she sees me but even after about a minute and a half no one comes up to the counter to help me. I thought it was pretty funny actually, like what was the expectation? That I would go over to the employee and ask them to come take my money?! Anyway, it was a let down inside despite their lack of wanting to take my money- it was junky and not particularly clean. If you're looking for a kitschy, old timey compound pharmacy like you can find in other parts of VA, this isn't it.

You get a discount on the car wash if you fill your tank. There's a vacuum/shampoo machine and an air pump as well. Coin operated, of course.
