There are two Wawa locations in the Ashland, VA area. This one is my preferred stop because it is…read moremuch easier to access from Interstate 95. The other location is farther from an exit and requires navigating multiple roads and intersections. This Wawa is located on Sliding Hill Road (State Route 656), Exit 86B off Interstate 95. It is the first exit north of the Interstate 295 junction. Having not stopped since Maryland, I headed straight to the men's room, which was clean. Wawa provides separate restrooms for men and women. The men's room includes a handicapped-accessible stall, a urinal, one sink, and an air dryer. It was clean, though not spotless. I grabbed a hazelnut coffee from the coffee bar, which was generally well stocked, although they were running low on half-and-half--one container was empty and the other nearly so. I did not see a coffee station attendant at the time. I also picked up a SIZZLI sausage croissant with egg and cheese from the warmer. It was good. I used the self-checkout, and the process was quick and uneventful. Overall, this is a nice store with friendly staff. I've stopped here before and will likely return.

I pulled in and right up to a pump, which was a nice change of pace for a Sheetz. It was really easy to stop here, especially since I didn't need to go inside. Pay at the pump, I enjoy being able to tap my card and be done with it. I really don't like the gas station tv they offer. Sometimes you just want to be able to pump your fuel in peace. I did keep myself busy by cleaning out my car while waiting for the pump to finish. Decent stop.

According to the corporate website, "Wawa is a Native American word for the Canada Goose that was found in the Delaware Valley over 100 years ago. Its original farm was built on a land located in Pennsylvania called Wawa." I stayed at Days Inn on Brook Road just kitty corner to here. A short walk of 12 minutes to get here. The only downside was there were no sidewalks or pedestrian lights, I think it's common in this part of Glen Allen. While there were no street lights, Wawa on Brook Road is all lit up. From corners of gas pumps to the store. I felt very safe shopping after dark. (Locals warned about deer though) The best part of Wawa is the 24-hour deli. I love fresh and nutrition food served late at night. I think it's a benefit to the surrounding hotels without a place to cook. Gas prices were reasonable and food prices were affordable. I ordered hoagies (subway sandwich in the east coast) and a chicken soup for dinner and came back next morning for avocado toast and scrambled eggs with sausage bits. The only downside was the coffees were not very hot. This place gets crowded at times. I used the self-checkout machine to pay for my food. Then, picked up my orders back at the deli. They were all piping hot ready to be consumed back at my hotel room.

Ultimate bummer, could only complete half of my mission. Also no car wash, but decent sized store. Not super clean or modern, but not run down enough where I don't feel safe using my credit card at the pump. With the lack of amenities, nothing separates this from the station down the road so I give it a below average score.

I had gone to the Exxon on Brook Rd to play my lottery as I frequently do. The cashiers that are always at that location were both having trouble ringing up one of my lotto tickets. They had me fill out another ticket, but when they kept encountering issues, one of the cashiers rudely gave me my total and basically said he could not assist me. I end up at the Valero at Mountain Rd and I am now frustrated because at first the ticket is not working in that machine either. The associate, pleasant as always, is immediately able to tell me what's wrong with my ticket. The level of excellent customer I receive at this Valero location is truly appreciated!!!
