We decided to eat at Perfect Pollo Peruvian & Tex-Mex when we were going to Shenandoah. For most people at our party, it was our first time eating Peruvian Chicken, so we didn't know what to expect. Ambiance: The restaurant reminds me of a Filipino eatery with a food bar for food selection. Since we were dining in, we didn't order from the food bar. We ordered from the menu instead. A billiards table and game night machines are on the right side of the entrance. There are posters for some live viewing of certain sports events. Price: We were surprised at how inexpensive their food was, and their servings are also huge. Food: I ordered half-size dak meat Peruvian Chicken with yellow rice and fried plantains. The half-size dark meat is 2-leg quarters. They were flavorful. The highlight of our meal was the sauces. I don't know what they were called, but I enjoyed mixing them up and dipping my Chicken. The fried plantains were one of my favorites as well. Service: The staff was very welcoming and open to suggestions. We got a chance to talk to the owner, who explained what to expect when eating a Peruvian chicken. Perfect Pollo has multiple locations. We will definitely be back when we are back on the road and in the area.

Thank you my Peruvian brothers & sisters. Y'all do pollo right. Crispy outside and juicy inside. Fresh vegetables as you can see from the photo. Ya gotta mix that jalapeño sauce into those spuds folks. My first time here and I will be back! For those of us who have served our great country, it is much appreciated how you display your American patriotism & Peruvian traditions. They do go together and we are all better off with you here & glad to have you. Thank you.

While traveling south on 95, through the Ashland area, we stopped in here for some Peruvian chicken. I came here about 9 months ago and it was a different name then, called Chicken Fire and it as amazing. Seems the ownership changed, but this is still a good place! The owner greeted us when we came in and talked us into trying their Lomo Saltado. The owner said their chef was known for making the best Lomo Saltado in Peru! Well, this was probably the tastiest Lomo Saltado I've had! It was seasoned perfectly! The rice was (white rice) was decent, nothing much there. The yuca (As I never get it with fries, only yuca) was just ok. Price was very high for this particular dish, but the other items on the menu were decently-priced. Plating/presentation of this dish was beautiful though. Overall, it was a nice visit and I'd definitely return! He's got another location in the Fredericksburg, VA area... I might need to try that one next.

Portions are either very small or over priced... on second thought it's overpriced $4 for a cup of rice on the side makes no sense.

Plenty of parking around back, it may be tricky driving into the location but we met right at 5:30. My friend got there before me and got us on the waitlist. Luckily, it wasn't that crowded yet and were seated pretty quickly. We decided to start out on their house margarita...my stupid self went ahead and answered the server "the largest one you have!" They were NOT kidding - this cut was gigantic! I told my friend that we will be getting one to share between the both of us. I made it a personal goal to finish at least half of it before leaving... I decided on their chef's special, carne steak (it was all the meat lol: steak, chorizo, with rice and beans). OMG, it was amazing with so much left over! (Spoiler - it taste amazing cold too! haha). I don't remember the dessert that we got but it was seriously like a big pancake churro with a scoop of ice cream. The place is clean and our server was great! He was on top of everything, let us do our thing and checked us on at the right time. I'm already excited for the next girl's catch up date already.

The salsa was fresh tasting, & mild. I didn't have a drink but the margaritas looked great. The prices were very fair. The main minus was the chicken enchiladas verdes. While fully stuffed with flavorful shredded chicken, they critically lacked sauce. There was about 1/4 cup over three enchiladas with some cheese judiciously sprinkled over the sauce. Being an Austinite, I'm used to having enough sauce to dip the extra fresh tortillas in, which also aren't provided. The rice was fine, & they don't routinely serve beans. I'm used to enchiladas being served on a hot plate but not here. That noted, the food was hot. According to a board in the entrance, they have daily specials during the week and a happy hour, with discounts. Overall, I'll try again with fajitas and bring a friend to try another menu item and a drink since everything else was really top notch.

I also ordered the steak fajitas and chicken. The chicken was basically half a chicken breast, and the flank steak portion was maybe a quarter of a piece. On top of the small portions, the food was dry and lacked flavor. Some of the tortillas were hard, and the beans were probably the best part of the meal. Overall, the service was decent, but the food quality, portions, and prices just don't add up. For what I paid, I expected much better. While we found a shaded table with a nice breeze outdoors, the chairs were wet and the table was tilted, so we ultimately opted to dine inside. Inside, a band was setting up for music later in the evening, and they boast a large selection of beers on tap. Despite the indoor area being almost full, we were waited on quickly, and our food arrived promptly. For my main course, I had a classic burger (normally served with cheese). Since I prefer no pink, I ordered it without any pink element, which was great as it kept the flavor clean. The exterior had a nice char that added depth to the flavor. The burger was served with thick slices of tomato, onion, and lettuce, a small amount of mustard, and on the side were jalapeno and hot dill pickles. The seasoned fries were very good, though they were slightly too salty for my taste (I'm not a big salt person). If you need to limit your sodium intake, I suggest skipping the seasoned fries. My wife ordered the Ahi Tuna Tacos, which were delicious and beautifully encrested. While she found the coating flavor was unusual with tuna initially, adding lime juice made it perfect. When I tried a piece, we noticed that the tuna might have been cooked on the same surface as my burger, picking up some of the char, which added an interesting element. Overall, the service was excellent throughout, and both our meals were enjoyable and served hot and quickly. The atmosphere is lively, filled with customers enjoying the music. We didn't stay for the band (which I'm sure would have enhanced the mood), but we noted that the outdoor tables are quieter and suitable for families--though this might change later in the evening. This spot is perfect whether you're looking for a quick meal or an enjoyable evening with live music.
