I went during the first days of opening where they offered 50% of the menu so it was packed. Considering the crowd, I believe they moved fairly quickly. There is reggaetón playing, colorful walls and food that fills your soul. The employees were friendly and remained upbeat through the busy rush. Needs improvement: They will need to adopt some type of name/ticket system to properly keep track of orders rather than just memory. I received my food right away, but for those who order food that might need extra preparation, it got a little confusing. They forgot my mom's order after she paid because they ended up serving someone with the same order who had ordered/paid after her. It was not intentional & they offered to give her some extra food as an apology. Better organization will easily fix this. I really enjoyed my food and look forward to trying more next time I'm visiting family. The prices and portions are reasonable like a fast casual place. The chicken here is so good. I like getting the white meat rotisserie 1/2 chicken with fries and mixed vegetables. They really do give you a lot of fries. The total comes out to about $13-$15 but the meal is worth it. Great service every time I go at least once a week. read more

This is my go to restaurant near my job and they haven't not disappointed me yet. Working in a food desert I'm so glad this place opened because I was tired of Bojangles. This walk-in restaurant specializes in carry-out but they have a few tables if you want to dine in. I have tried the fiesta potatoes which are delectable. The quesadilla is amazing it has the perfect ratio of chicken to cheese. I also like the carne asada and shrimp tacos. My coworkers usually get the steak bowl, salad with chicken, ceviche or plantains. We came to get takeout on a Thursday evening for dinner and there was a line. Quite busy but the line moved pretty quickly. It's very dissatisfying knowing that a majority of your customer base is African Americans but the service you provide and how you provide it is based off looks. It's very disheartening and disappointing knowing I spend my hard earned money just to get service/treated a certain way bc of skin color or how I look. I have enjoyed going to DC Charcoal Chicken for over 2 years but that ended on Sunday, June 26, 2022. My wife and I always order the Carne Asada and the Lamb chops. The cost used to be 15.99 and 17.99, respectively. The Carne Asada had 2 pieces of beef and the Lamb had 4 chops. When we went to order our food on 6/26/22, we noticed there were price increases. The Carne Asada was now 17.99 and the Lamb was 20.99, which was not a problem. We expected something like this because of the economy but we love the food. Once we received our food, we realized that there was only 1 piece of steak for the Carne Asada (when there used to be 2), and 3 Lamb chops (when there used to be 4). We were shocked. We inquired about the reduction in the meat as the gentleman who was serving us smiled and said, " things are expensive". As that did not speak to the reduction in meat, we felt cheated. Price increases understood, but the reduction in the portions of meat is inexcusable, as it undermines the rationale for the price increase. I have resolved that shenanigans like this will undercut profits because faithful customers like myself and my wife will find other options. I did not appreciate feeling cheated by having to pay more for less in a restaurant. However, unlike the supermarkets I do have a choice in this situation. Save your money and dine elsewhere. read more
