Have been a reoccurring patient for several years, however not once have I had a 100% normal/good/standard visit. There has always been an overall vibe of the assistants rushing the testing processes, and the doctors being quick to figure out a lens prescription rather than assessing the patients concerns/comments. Also, I tried scheduling an appointment today (7/18/19) and the front receptionist (female, didn't catch name) snapped at me/gave attitude when she answered the phone, and the tone continued throughout the conversation. After asking when I could schedule, she stated "I can't do anything for you for 3 weeks" without even suggesting a date and asking if it would work for my schedule. -Receptionist are rude (unless you go in person) -Doctors are good but will rush sometimes -can't schedule online because doesn't reflect true availability -Push sales too much regarding eye ware -Hard to get a hold of read more

Been coming here for 14 years with my 14-year old son. Everyone is always so nice and friendly. The reception girl is always very kind and answers any questions I have. The worst customer service ever, visited the office today for a warranty repair on safety glasses and order a new safety glasses Similar frame as I made appointment for both,the staff told me that she can only do the warranty which only took like less than three minutes but have to make a schedule another appointment for my for new safety glasses but on the phone I was told otherwise( when I made an appointment for both over the phone the staff told me it will take few minutes with a warranty and another maybe five or 10 minutes for new classes and they have scheduled for both. Absolutely the worst customer service in Tracy. The doctors seem okay but the glasses/sales business is a train wreck. Over the past two years my son and I have ordered 6 pairs of glasses. Each time something has gone wrong and caused delays. We have been told our order has been... - Lost in shipping - Lens didn't pass quality assessment - Back ordered - Manufacture sent wrong order - Blah, Blah, Blah, yes wait two more weeks. Up until the last order 6/2017 the office actually called to reschedule the fitting appointment providing one of the above excuses. However in our last ever visit to their business we didn't get the call telling us our order was lost, wrong, or the dog ate it until we were walking through the front door. My parents brought me here as a kid. They left because they felt like they were at a used car sales lot at every appointment. That was a dozen years ago, so my husband and I ended up giving them another try due to the great Yelp reviews. Bad decision on my part. My husband only needed an annual eye exam. He wears glasses however they really tried to sell him on being fitted for contacts. He wasn't interested but it didn't stop them from harassing him about it during his entire visit. Then, he went to order new glasses from an online retailer he's used in the past. He called Tracy optometry to get a copy of his prescription. They had him come back for a prescription and then tried to charge him extra because they didn't get his pupillary distance the first time. After a 'wonderful' conversation about the fact that our insurance already paid them, they finally (but not happily) gave us his prescription. He got his glasses, used them for a few weeks, continually got dizzy from them and discovered that it was due to inaccurate pupillary distance on his prescription. We had the problem corrected (not here) and he has a great pair of glasses now. For me: I went in for my annual eye exam. They had me fill out a dry eye survey (which I already knew I had.) I talked to Dr. Moline about this and he described this "amazing" procedure with a machine that "very few offices can afford." He explained that I would have to come back for it and that it would cost $99. Awesome! Right? Nope. Wrong. I came back a few days later for my magical dry eye fixer only to be told "this machine is going to test you for dry eyes. You'll be charged $99 and then if your eyes are 'dry enough' you can schedule to have the procedure." Wait. This machine just tests to see whether I have dry eyes? I KNOW I have dry eyes. Dr Moline went over my symptoms and agreed that I have dry eyes. Why would I pay $99 to be told something we already know? I was then sent to talk to Dr Moline about the confusion. I asked what other options there were? I asked if this machine is so rare and expensive then how do other offices handle dry eyes? I also asked about Restasis - to which he scoffed and told me that it's expensive, my insurance won't cover it and it doesn't work. According to him, this machine was the miracle cure for dry eyes and that was my only option here. Oh, he also suggested his "other business" of vision correction after I pay thousands to get my dry eyes corrected. Ya know, just a few more grand. Then, they tried to get me to go to a "seminar for dry eyes" which actually turned out to be nothing more than a timeshare-like presentation on their fancy machine. No, thank you. I left and never bothered to come back. However I did get a bill for $60. Called our insurance who told us that we didn't owe Tracy optometry a dime. We called Tracy optometry and was rudely told that it was for my second appointment. "Oh, you mean the one where I sat and listened to a shady sales pitch from an eye doctor?!" By the way, the entire staff is friendly so long as you are throwing money their way. They continued to send a bill over a period of about six months. I called my insurance again and they handled the problem for me (thankfully). I did not give this shady place another penny. Oh, I also got my contact prescription renewed at my appointment... for $50... I've used contacts for ten years and have never paid a "fitting fee" at any other optometrist office. It is not "standard" by any means. I ended up going to Dr O'Neil on Eaton after this. He did my contact lens prescription (without charging me), he tested for dry eyes in his office (without charging me), and gladly put in a prescription for Restasis (which ended up being 100% covered by my insurance). Their selection of glasses is excellent and they really work with finding something for your budget! If you want to listen to a bunch of sales people, then go to Tracy Optometry. They care very strongly about one thing: MONEY. You might notice the other negative reviews have also realized the same thing about this place. Oh, and it's been six months since using Restasis and I already notice a huge difference in my dry eye issue - without paying thousands of dollars to this corrupt business :) Additional: I could reply to every excuse by Dr. Yee, but I won't bother. I will, however, make note that the contact lens "evaluation" done at Tracy optometry went like this: Technician (not optometrist): "here, put these in... How do they feel? Good? Okay!" Dr. Moline comes in. Without even looking or examining any part of my eyes with contacts: "so how do those feel? Good? Okay, we will put in a prescription." Experiences at other offices(plural): Optometrist thoroughly asks questions about contact lens wear in the past, goes over multiple options on different types/brands, actually examines my eyes w/ contacts, sends me home with samples to try them out for a few weeks, still doesn't charge $ read more

Only 2 stars because Dr. Yee has terrible patient manners and is very aloof. Dr. Moline is better but can be put off if you don't agree with everything he says or wants you to do...regardless of the cost. Plus $300+ to be fitted with progressive contacts seems high. Some of their staff, like the office folks are great, but some of the technicians can badger you if you aren't buying the extras they want you to do. I needed to get my eyes checked because it had been about two years since my last exam and I really didn't want to go through the hassle of trying to get to Costco. I asked my mom how she felt about her experience at Tracy Optometry and she couldn't have said anything better about the group. When I called they were very sweet and I didn't feel rushed with answering there questions and trying to figure out what would work for me with my work schedule. When I went in, I felt welcomed the second I walked in. They acknowledged me right away, which I'm not use to from past ventures into eye places. The young lady that took me back for the exam was very patient with me while I thought about doing dilation or retinal exam. I forgot I got paid that day and thought I wouldn't be able to pay the extra for the retinal and the young lady informed me I could come back and pay it later if I wanted and left it at that, not making me feel pressured to do the exam. She was very good at making sure I had all the information I needed (I did remember and ended up doing it, so worth it). After that I waited maybe 5-10 minutes, no longer than that, for Dr. Yee. He was amazing. I've always felt rushed into giving a "better" or "worse" answer while getting my eyes checked, but he was very patient with me and allowed me to explain why it didn't seem much different or whatever the case may be. He showed me the pictures from the retinal exam and explained what they look for in a way that someone who didn't go to school for this would understand. This was all back in January. A couple weeks away I accidentally scratched one of my lenses, thank goodness for insurance. I called them up and they said they could order the replacement lens, no problem. Today I got the call that it was in. One problem, I now live in San Jose. I asked if it was possible to ship and woohoo, it is. The lady I talked to was very kind, asking if another day would work for me because there was a fee for shipping the glasses back. I love that even when working with their customers over the phone they still treat you like you are there in person and you're their only patient for the day. I will continue to use them, even though it means driving back out to Tracy. Honestly, it's completely worth it. read more

After my wife got laid off, we wanted to use her soon-to-expire vision coverage to get some prescription sunglasses for myself, since I work outside all day. Unfortunately, her insurance company screwed up anything and everything related to COBRA, so even though we were covered, it didn't show up in the system. Tracy Optometry helped work with me on my sunglasses, following up with our benefits representative, They went the extra mile when it came to picking the frame and options for the lenses, explaining how the process worked. Speaking of explaining - the female eye doctor who did my exam was incredibly helpful! She explained my options (camera or dilation) and why they recommend the camera and why insurance doesn't cover it. I now have a great-looking pair of sunglasses! read more

I've been going to Tracy Optometry for about 3 years, give or take. This is my first review about Tracy Optometry. I started here when my insurance switched to VSP. It got great reviews and I loved the walls and walls of frames to choose from. They have frames in all price ranges. I love the many choices compared to Kaiser. Recently, I thought about trying contacts. This time I inquired about going with contacts. I think they were good in answering my questions. There was a confusion about my insurance coverage, meaning I was a little confused. Here is my problem. I think with talk of contacts and Dr. Yee helping a patient while the staff fit me with sample contacts I realized days later, my exam wasn't completed. I was never dilated. The doctor never viewed my eyes in the "thing" (whatever it's called}. Anyway, I called their offices and the lady said she would put in the record. That not doing that part, didn't affect my prescription as I feared. Here is my "issue". When you get contacts, I guess, all or most charge a fitting fee. Okay. I just think the amount is expensive. First I was told it was $170. Then, it was $200 because this was my first time. I've seen prices for fitting fees at optometrists before, it never affected me. I decided to call Costco. I'm on a budget, like most people, and their fitting fee is $95 or a little less. That's a big difference. Hey, I guess I have a choice, that's too pay $200 for the fitting or go somewhere else. I will probably do that. I'm not saying, I won't continue with Tracy Optometry, because I've been happy, it's just that paying that amount is huge. This is a straight forward honest review on the fitting fee. Maybe they have a recent to charge such a huge amount. Sometimes, you have to be a little more reasonable. Had an appt at 815am Saturday morning. Convenient for me because i cant get appts like this during the week because of commuting. My daughter's and I needed an exam. Nice office and location is ok. Too bad it was the Farmers market so we had to walk a little bit. The techs that did the first part of the exam were friendly. However one didn't warn my 9 year old about the air that would be blown into her eyes. She was mad. Lol The doctor was nice and friendly. She explained everything to me. I wasn't pressured to buy anything. Cant wait to go back and get my frames. It would of been 5 stars but since the tech didnt warn my daughter and i felt like the tech didnt want to be there i gave 4 stars. I'll make sure someone else helps me. read more

I decided I needed an optometrist closer to home, and found Tracy Optometry through the VSP website. Tracy Optometry has their own website, which I liked, so I gave them a call. They were booked up for the day I wanted, but were able to fit me in within the next week or so, and offered to call me if they had a cancellation. I got a call the next day with a time I could make! I was surprised at the size of the office - it looks tiny from the street. I was greeted promtply and given the standard new patient form to complete. The young woman who started the exam was friendly and professional. The retinal scan is an extra $25 dollars, but I felt no pressure to do it (I chose to do it because I use an FSA to offset out of pocket medical expenses) - I didn't get any sort of hard sell. I was taken to the exam room, and Dr. Moline came in shortly after to complete my exam. I appreciated that he asked me about my vision history, asked me lots of questions about what was working for me and what wasn't. I felt like I was his only patient for the day. Once the exam was over, it was time to choose my new frames. They have a HUGE selection of frames. As I was choosing frames, Angie (the office manager and all-around super star!) would choose comparable frames she thought I might like. We had it narrowed down to about 6 pairs, and then based on my prescription, narrowed it down to two. I unfortunately can't really see how I look in frames because of my vision (hard to tell when my nose is practically touching the mirror!), but we chose the perfect frame. So, so far we have had amazing service . . . but now I asked if there was any chance to get the glasses in just over a week. I was leaving for a business trip, and really wanted to have my new glasses (I had been wearing my old old glasses (2 year old prescription), and it was giving me headaches) . . . they couldn't guarantee it, particularly since my prescription was difficult, but they'd see what they could do. Success!! Clearly, I give these guys my highest recommendation. I've brought my husband and daughter in recently for their exams (and his glasses), and they have helped me with adjustments, and even swapping out lenses in a very old pair of Ray-Bans! I have been here for many years and dealt with Juan. Had any minor issues dealt with Michelle the office manager and she is awesome. Today my husband went for some warranty work and since Juan wasn't there, he had to deal with Tammy. Something I have to say about her. She is super rude and disrespectful. They have made errors on my account before and that's what I tried to explain to her and she told me let's not create another situation and told me I am not the one she is talking to. One of few clinics that have the camera to take a picture of the inside of your eye, instead of putting in those dialating drops, which pretty much blinds you. Quick, in and out and also great for the kids! Instead of asking me what I want in glasses, the Dr. asked life questions about what I do for a living, lighting conditions, etc.. and suggested a pair of Gunnar Optics, which is designed for indoor flourescent and computer users.. OMG, these things are Excellent!! plus, insurance grabbed the tab!!! Great office staff...great doctors and the staff who helps you pick out frames are awesome! After 10 years of perfect vision thanks to Lasik (which ended 20 years of coke bottle glasses!)...it was nice to have friendly folks to nudge me back into part-time glasses. The deal that takes a picture of the inside of your eyeball is pretty cool. For $30ish, I got to see the inside of my eye and know that I didn't have early warning signs of cancer or diabetes or retinal issues. Wahoo! Definitely good people...give 'em a try! read more

Every time I come here I wait. We aren't talking 10 min we are taking a full half hour or more . We make appointments so that we can keep them. If we miss our appt you charge us 25$ but hey apparently our time is not valuable . You pack as many as you can in the waiting room so you can charge our insurance and then charge us a ton for glasses! It is like you don't care about our time . Updated review: I love how my glasses came in earlier than expected! Originally I was supposed to come in on the 27th to pick them up, but I had received a voicemail saying they were ready for pick up. Knowing how blind I am, I knew I had to go pick them up. I go in and of course I see my girl Mayra! So kind and patient with every customer that walked in. I noticed how helpful she was towards everyone and that made me happy. People like her are people who should be receptionists. I've came into places where the receptionists are just some straight jerks. As a receptionist you are the face of the company. This office runs like a well oiled machine, yet everyone is very pleasant. They use up-to-date technology and computerized systems that allowed me to actually see images of my eye structure in a way I've never experience. Dr Clark examined my hubby and I, and we were both well please with her medical care as well as her patient relations skills. The optometry assistants were equally as skilled and caring. I should have realized that when the optometrist did not hear or comprehend a word of what I proffered to him this was going to be unpalatable. He kept insisting I needed computer glasses, I do not. I have reading glasses so I told him three to four times no. He leads me to the individual that will let me pick out my frames and tells him I need a distance pair and a computer pair. Instant up sale.Irritatingly I tell this individual I ONLY need a distance pair. The individual immediately begins to display a multitude of frames which cost extra above and beyond my insurance. He did not show me ONE free frame covered under insurance. Instant up sale. This also irritated me. Ordering glasses took an elongated and unacceptable amount of time.With every option tossed at me to make money. I decide upon what I want and what is pushed. The spectacles cost almost one thousand dollars and that is 400 out of my own pocket. I wait a few weeks until my glasses are at the optometrist and I had an appointment to get them.I put them on and go home. The next morning I notice they are slipping on my face. I remove them to find a plastic extruded piece with 3 protrusions missing from my ear piece. The reason they are slipping. Now I have to take them back and have them either repaired or replaced. I am sure I will have difficulty in getting my prescription when I ask for it. Not a pleasant experience in any way, shape or form. read more

Tracy Optometry has always given me good eye exams, I think Dr. Yee is really good, and the lady doctor (I can't remember her name, I apologize). So, an extra star for that. However, their customer service has always been absolutely awful. Not willing to help in any way. I've spent hours each time I deal with this office trying to sort everything out on my own. Every time I order through Costco or 1-800-Contacts, they do not want to help me one bit, and have given me the wrong prescription so many times, and it causes such a hassle since I live part of the year in another state.
