    Window pane dining room
    Bobby C.

Wife and I had dinner at Trackside Diner in Paris, Kentucky. This old L&N train station is a gem of a place. They have 3 dining rooms. The Winchester Room for private parties, The entry dining room which is full of paned windows and the dining room adjacent to the bar area. We chose the entry dining room full of windows. It was cold that night but the decorative open fireplaces made the room cozy. We had a friendly server and she knew her menu well. I selected the Hot Brown . It came with a side salad and I enjoyed the homemade thousand island dressing. The hot brown was stacked high with turkey and country ham on Texas toast. It was loaded with mornay sauce and meted cheese. It had enough to make every bite cheesy. The wife had a classic cheeseburger with cheddar. It was dressed out with lettuce, onion and tomato. The fries came with it were hot and fresh. The train motif is throughout the entire place, even the clean bathrooms. There are a set of dual railroad tracks outside the windowed dining room. It was my first trip there without any trains going by. It is decorated for Christmas. You should try and go before the holidays end

Very cool restaurant. Location is beside the railroad tracks. A train will go by. Beautiful old station with good food. Service is nice and helpful. I had a great salad. The chicken was delicious.

My friend was hungry. Since we were in Paris I took her to Trackside. We decided to share the Hot Brown. The waitress brought us two salads and two portions of the Hot Brown. How very nice of her. While service was excellent, the food was only fair. Still it's a unique place. 107

Great place to go on a beautiful Saturday afternoon! They have greats salads and all three of us absolutely loved the Country Ham Salad with crackers. The variety of good crackers was a nice touch. That Brownings country ham is very good. Looking forward to coming back!

This is such a charming place! Loved sitting on the platform outside. We had pimento Cheese with crackers and split a Ky Hot Brown. It was awesome. Service was fast and it's obviously an area favorite!

This is a great restaurant in a restored railroad station. The food was excellent as was the service.

The Saturday Prime Rib special was tough, the baked potato was cold, the fried chicken was undercooked, I will never go back.

The atmosphere is super cozy and we felt welcomed from our first steps in. We were warmly greeted by the hostess and we met Michaela who took fabulous care of us for the evening! We settled in to a couple of their specialty cocktails (midwinters night dream and cardamaro manhattans - yummy I'll say) and the Brussel Sprout starter. Let me say to come hungry because the portions are large but yummy. The sprouts are a meal all by themselves! But there's more! I had the porcini rubbed filet and Teresa had the cabbage confit. Both portions were sizable and while I know she loved her cabbage, I was in heaven with a perfectly prepared filet that just melted in my mouth. Plus the asparagus spears and the Okinawa sweet potato mash were perfect accompaniment! Sadly, there was so much goodness we ended up bringing some home and we'll have to come back for dessert and another menu sampling. All in all a very memorable experience and a great place for a birthday dinner! But we'll be back just because! Special closing shout out to Michaela for taking such great care of us.

I ordered the burger without the bun or fries, and it was so overly salty that I struggled to finish it. My wife had the CACIO de PEPE, which tasted quite different from what we're used to, and the pasta was overcooked for our liking. My brother-in-law ordered the fish tacos, which were easily the standout dish at the table. My sister's chicken cesar salad was decent but nothing particularly memorable. The restaurant itself feels a bit unexpected for a rural setting, which may help explain its strong ratings. For me, though, it's not a place I'd go out of my way to visit again--more of a "fine if someone else suggests it" kind of spot.

Southern Cookhouse features scratch-made dishes using local ingredients, a variety of burgers, pizzas, and classic Southern entrees. I started with the Chicken & Sausage Gumbo because I love soup and all soup-adjacent things. The gumbo had a good, rich flavor from the roux, with subtle heat and a sweet finish. The chicken had a nice flavor, a little saltiness, and it was tender. The Andouille sausage was cooked well and rounded out the flavor profile. The tomatoes and scallions added brightness and crunch. The rice had a few hard pieces, but overall it was good. I do want to mention that I did find a few chicken bones in the dish, just so people are aware. My wife tried the Dunwoody Cobb, made with Grilled chicken breast, boiled eggs, bacon, avocado, tomato, and blue cheese crumbles, with spring mix tossed in Dijon vinaigrette. The lettuce was crunchy and fresh. The bacon had a great salt level, crunch, and crispiness. The avocado added a creamy richness to each bite, while the tomato's acidity cut through the Dijon mustard's sweet and bitter notes. The star of the show was the salty, nutty, creamy blue cheese crumbles, which meshed well with all the other components. The chicken was cooked well and had good flavor, but it was dry. While I avoided it, my wife said the boiled egg was well-cooked and added it to the salad. I had the Nashville Hot chicken, which comes with spicy pickles, coleslaw & mayo on slider rolls with potato salad. The potato salad was mustard-and-mayo-based. The potatoes were soft but still offered some texture. The mustard and mayo balanced each other and added flavor. There were eggs in the potato salad, but they blended into the background and did not stand out. The sweet pickle relish added crunch and texture without being overly sweet. I'm not sure if it was made in-house or from a container; it was good nonetheless. The slider was fresh, soft, and nicely toasted. The slaw was medium-chopped, with a great mayo ratio and a good sweetness, tasting fresh, crunchy, and creamy without being so rich as to drown out the vegetables or the chicken. The pickle was not spicy, but a thick-cut bread-and-butter type with a little sweetness and a velvety, buttery flavor. The chicken was juicy, tender, and cooked well. The Nashville-style spices were mild to medium, just enough to know it was there but not so overpowering that it was all you tasted. It was not overly oily either, which often plagues sandwiches of this type. The entire sandwich worked well together. Southern Cookhouse has a full menu, but some items do rotate or are seasonal. The bar is fully stocked, offering draft beer, tea, and soft drinks. They offer counter ordering, and the staff is very friendly. The Fat Man says that Southern Cookhouse & Bar is Fat Man Approved with 2 chins.

The cornbread was stunning, love how it is served in the skillet. The sides of crispy brussel sprouts ( a10+), whipped potatoes, mac n cheese, and field salad were wonderful. As for the fried chicken, it's wonderful, crispy and not over seasoned, allowing the chicken to shine. The only downside, and this bothered me enough that I actually emailed the restaurant. They now offer mocktails - one sounded extremely refreshing, Blueberry Spritz, so I ordered. It was very refreshing. The problem arose when I went to pay the bill and discovered I had been charged for the alcoholic Blueberry Spritz, when I asked the waiter, they apologized as they forgot it was now offered as a mocktail. The mocktail and cocktail have the same name, so.... Had I been a recovering alcoholic, or had a medical condition that prevented me from drinking, this could of been bad. When emailing the restaurant I suggested they change the names so a mocktail could not be confused for a cocktail. I had pointed to the mocktail, even commenting on it sounding great as a non alcoholic option, when ordering. If you want a mocktail, confirm when given to you, it is a mocktail... by the way, my cocktail did not taste alcoholic...
