No Shrinkflation here!! Went there for a family dinner Friday night and omg yum! The guac was great for sharing, and my mom and I shared the shareable portion of veggie fajitas. The skinny marg "small" was a great size and very tasty! The veggies were flavorful and a good quantity. We each got our own plate with all the condiments and sides of rice and beans. Service was A+, both Oscar our waiter was attentive and the manager stopped by to check in with us. We will be back next time we are in the desert! read more

The shrimp burrito was delicious and filled with shrimp and a perfect balance of ingredients. The avocado taco plate had lots of flavor and prepared expertly. Had a group dinner here in the bar area and the restaurant provided great service to accommodate us. Drinks, chips, salsa all refilled quickly. The food however, was just OK. Ordered the street corn which I really liked, but our steak fajitas was really a pile of peppers and onions with 5 pieces of meat. Huge improvement now that the folks from Gillaburger took over. The menu is vastly improved as is the food and the service. Always had a great vibe, right in the middle of Old Town, but the food the menu and food were lacking but that has been addressed with the new ownership. Highly reccommend the taco combination plates (twelve different kinds) you can mix and match- very fun. On a perfect Autumn Night this is a great place for dinner and margaritas and to hang out. I have been to Ronda of diners, but this diner was especially excellent. The layout is simple but don't confuse this with the quality of the food or the service! Junior is at the helm of this operation. He was EXCELENTE!! Junior went out of the way to accommodate my coffee preferences and delivered to me an egg white vegetarian omelette that was one of the best I have ever had. Not good. The beans and rice are not good for a Mexican restaurant, super bland. I had the El Pastor tacos an it was gross. Everyone else at my table was not impressed...this it not right for a Mexican restaurant in the desert. Very disappointing, I'm not sure how they're still open on Main Street serving up that bad food...also our server just disappeared towards the end of our meal and was just talking it up with the bartender. read more

To start off, our waiter was awesome! He made us all feel welcome and checked on us constantly. We received our food with in a decent time after ordering and we were given a few choice of salsas for our chips while we waited (don't think I've ever experienced that ever anywhere else). Our food was great, my brother had steak fajitas, my sister had the Mexican pizza, my mother had the camarones al mojo de ajo and I had the fish tacos and my daughter had the kids flautas. You know food is good when everyone's quiet . My mom is the pickiest and she said she would definitely go back. We sat outside but felt like we had a private area to our self's. We came here for drinks and had the margaritas which were good and churros for a small desert. It was a nice location but our server was really rude and short with us. My bf made an obvious joke about happy hr being extended and he very rudely said you may be able to get away with that at other places but not here. We were trying to joke around and have fun and he just ruined it with his bad attitude so we did not continue to order drinks and decided to just leave. Our party of 4 enjoyed a blackberry ginger margarita which was very refreshing, tamarind chicken wings for an appetizer, tamarind shrimp taco, chicken burrito, street taco, chicken enchilada and even left room for churros and ice cream and a mud pie. They have a great happy hour menu. Our service was excellent. We ate in the dining room which became noisy by the time we left. The patio is perfect for people watching. Wonderful evening. We had eaten at TQlas once before and had a nice dinner. So tired again with a friend from out of town. We were greeted the minute we walked in. Our server was Ruby. Visit last night was very disappointing. Margaritas were good but service and handling of the reservation was poor.

The margaritas and food were great. Our server Robert recommended the special, Mojacete and it was the bomb.

Ceviche Tostadas were DELICIOUS!! Careful with the green sauce on enchiladas.... leans toward the hot side of medium. 14 Hands Cab wonderful Nubia was WONDERFUL server ...very sweet and personable. We will be back! read more

Outdoor distanced patio with misters, friendly staff and thoughtful details. My friend invited me for lunch and we had Cadillac margaritas with choice of tequila (Patron Silver), Jalapeño poppers, tacos el pastor and salmon mango salad. The poppers were fresh stuffed and fried jalapeños - if you like the heat they are amazing - we enjoyed them with fresh chips and salsa. Delish. I had my wedding rehearsal dinner on 9/27/24 and we arrived late, Zayde was so gracious as to still let us move forward our church rehearsal ran over as I had a large wedding party. The food and drinks were good, we did have a few misunderstandings with the bill but it was quickly resolved. I would recommend for large partys the tacos are very good and the drinks heavy! read more

What a disaster. I truly feel bad for the new owner, whose got a new chef she needs to replace and a new menu that needs major work. Dining room is filled with TV sets. Which I could understand IF a game was on. But Judge Judy? Uncomfortable, bar seating on stools with are impossible to get close enough to the table. Menu is hard to read and ordering margaritas appears to be a challenge. Food is the worst part. No seasoning, no spice, no flavor. Canned beans and very little fresh vegetables. Sat at the bar to pass the 20 min wait to be seated. Got two mixed drinks pretty quick, but they weren't very good. Asked to place food order with bartender. After 30 min we asked again to place a dinner order. After another 15 min and taking food orders for two tables that came after us we left to eat at a nearby restaurant. We had a short wait at the other restaurant. Had great drinks and dinner, and we were done before some friends who arrived at TQLAs shortly before we did. The happy hour drinks were great !!!! The bartender went out of his way to make them how we like and was extremely attentive. Great bartender!!!! The food was alright. We had guacamole and chips. Guacamole was very good but chips could have used some salt. Salsa very good, also had chicken taquitos which were good. Ordered chicken wings and they were very bready, not like traditional chicken wings. We won't order the wings again and will ask that the chips be salted. read more

We (5 people) ate there at 330pm on Tuesday for the happy hour menu. We were seated but after 15 minutes, we had to get someone to come and take our drink order (the place was mostly vacant). The excuse was that the chef was tending the bar. They then brought chips and salsa. The chips were greasy and cold. The Salsa was like liquid and when they spilled a portion of the salsa when bringing the chips, they never offered to wipe it up. We had to ask twice for someone to come and wipe that portion of the table. Had to ask for napkins and utensils. Drinks came with one drink order being incorrect which they corrected. The meals came but were cold. Every Mexican-type restaurant I have patronized always has their hot meals with very hot plates which they warn you about when serving. One person's order (a single taco) was placed on my dinner plate! Instead of asking for another plate we just used an appetizer plate for her one taco. One order asked for no guacamole and to add cheese instead the order came with guacamole and no cheese. Thus the food was mediocre at best. The staff at that time seemed removed and not very interested in giving great customer service. Water glasses were filled once early on and then never came back. The restaurant was not busy at all, and it appeared we and one other table of 6 were the only ones there. We will not ever return because out of all the fine Mexican restaurants in the Coachella Valley, this one is at the very bottom of them all. read more

We were in town from San Diego for the long weekend and were wanting to try new spots versus our usual go to's. My friend chose this restaurant for dinner on the Sunday before Labor Day. She made a reservation for four at 6:30p, no problem. We arrived a few minutes after 6:30p and waited at the hostess stand outside. When we walked up, there was another couple also waiting nearby who I incorrectly assumed were waiting to be called for a table. Apparently, they had been standing there for some time just waiting to be acknowledged to even inquire as to a wait for a table. So we waited a few minutes alongside them before I opted to walk inside to see if I could find someone to assist the couple waiting and to check our party in. It was very busy inside with a few large groups and a few staff members running around. I was hurriedly greeted by a waitress (name unknown) who told me it would be a 20-25 minute wait for a table before I could finish my sentence. When I asked if that wait time applied to our reservation, she hesitated a few seconds and then looked at her watch, informed me we were 15 minutes late and that we'd have to wait 20-25 minutes. I checked my phone which stated 6:39p - rather than point out the fact that we'd been waiting outside for 5+ minutes at the hostess stand as has the other couple (longer, actually), I walked away gobsmacked. Once outside, I noted the other couple opted for another restaurant across the courtyard. In their place was a family of five who were waiting to be helped, too. I relayed to my friends that I didn't think we should eat there and we should find another place. As we were talking, another waitress approached us apologizing for the other's attitude. I acknowledged they were very busy and looked understaffed and tried to brush it off. Then a gentleman came out and again apologized and told us that they'd prepare a table and seat us promptly. So my friends agreed with wait. Several minutes (15ish) went by and one of my friends decided called another Mexican restaurant a short walk away to check their wait time. While he was on the phone, the kind waitress came out and apologized, stating she thought we would've been seated already. Once seated inside, she again apologized, said she would try to be our waitress (instead of the other one), we said no worries and that we appreciated her kindness. The gentleman ended up serving us - taking our drink and food order. The drinks took a while to get to us - one non alcoholic marg, a coke that was flat, and a horchata. We were given an appetizer on the house which was very good, however one of the provided utensils and plate were dirty with dried on food. Around 7:50p, after a while with little interaction, one of my friends suggested we leave money for the drinks and leave. It had been nearly an hour since we ordered food. Nothing was complicated and only one order was modified to leave out some pico. Preferring to inquire rather than just leave, we tried to catch someone's attention on multiple occasions with no luck. At around 8p, three of the four meals arrived (Cali burrito, taco trio, tequila Alfredo) - it would be a few more minutes for the fajitas. The food was so-so. Rather disappointing given the wait and all the other issues noted. Perhaps it was an off day? Perhaps they were understaffed for various reasons? Either way, I would not come back and I would not recommend. Too many issues we encountered, it was almost a joke. Honestly, I'm not sure why we didn't get up and leave at one point let alone get seated in the first place. The location is great and the two servers we interacted with the most were very kind but that's about it, so they're why the second star. Oh, and to note - the couple who gave up on waiting just to talk to someone, they walked by with their leftovers from the other place a couple minutes before our food came out. And the family of five after us, they were just being served their food as we walked out the door around 8:45p. read more
