You get to choose up to 3 add ons in your drink, so it's basically your fault if you mess it up. Bonus points for offering chia seeds as an alternative to boba. SERVICE: Given that there was a substantial line out the door, service was pretty quick. By the time we ordered, they only took about 3 minutes to deliver the drinks. They also had a person pass out samples while you waited in line. TIP: -We came on a Friday night around 9:30PM, and it was asian high school kid central. Loved the drinks at tpumps! With a name like tpumps and a minimal storefront, I didn't know if I should have hopes for this place. But after placing my order and trying the first sip, I fell in love! The orders are all customizable so you can get whatever flavors, sweeteners, or milk options you'd like. My partner ordered the taro milk tea with boba. He always gets this drink whenever we go out for boba and is used to the powdered version. The way Tpumps makes their taro drink was creamy and well blended. It was so well made that I couldn't tell if this was made with powder or not. If it was, it was one of the best powdered taro we've ever tasted! I got the rose vanilla green milk tea with boba. I thought it was extremely floral in flavor, which I absolutely love. I reduced the sweetness to "light" as I don't love overly sweet drinks. There were probably 12 people in front of me when I went on a Friday evening. The line felt as if it moved relatively fast. I think sampling the drinks and flustering over what to customize (they had a lot of options) expedited the wait. A friendly worker brought out three different samples while I was in line. The first two were milk teas. I forgot what the first one was (strawberry something with a chalky flavor) and the second milk tea was mango marshmallow. They were really sweet! If I were to order milk tea, I'd get it less sweetened. The third sample was a blueberry lychee iced black tea, or something like that. It was refreshing and delicious! So I settled for getting an iced tea. I liked how they have their top 10 board and I chose the strawberry mango iced black tea with basil seeds. The basil seeds freaked me out a little because they were floating black, fuzzy things in my drink. BUT it tasted good! I've also tried the peach lychee with mango popping boba. I stumbled onto this boba joint while waiting for a table at Magnolia House, and I am so glad I did! There was already a steady line at 9pm in the evening. I was pleasantly surprised at the great customer service they provided because the small place was literally crowded with customers. The menu was very overwhelming at first because of all the flavors they offer (although it had very clear instructions). However, the staff took their time to explain the menu and offered suggestions. I decided on a green tea passion peach with honey boba. I went with a tpumps size (24oz) almond roca smoothie with honey boba, normal sweetness with black milk tea as suggested by the friendly cashier that helped me through my first time ordering. She was nice enough to answer all my questions and steered me the right way when I wasnt sure whether to order green tea or black milk tea to go with the lychee flavor I wanted. And another cool thing was when my drink was done and my name was called. There was extra lychee smoothie in the blender when they made mine so they sealed it in a small cup and gave that to me as well. They were all super cool. I love this Trumps but I've had some problems the past two times. I go maybe three times a week and although I ask for extra Boba every time I don't get it and last week I went, asked for my normal drink and they didn't put any sweetener in it. The lady was nice though and immediately remade it for me, and even said oops I totally didn't put any sweetener in there. So I get to the Pasadena in 30ish min and there's a 6 person line outside (this is during the pandemic for future readers who don't understand the value of knowing basic immunology yet - meaning you should if you don't currently). The line whittles to me pretty quickly (never got annoyed enough to look at my phone), they have an ordering system that clearly works, and I order a recommended (from the person that gave me the gift card) strawberry, mango, passion fruit with honey boba in black tea full sweet. Now for context I am "one of those" that is always (100% always, not this 70%-99% nonsense) wary about drinks being too sweet: like McDonald's sweet tea (they should just call it Crack in a Cup) with an added cup (not any of those "spoon" measurements) of sugar. So I always order half sweet for any first-visits unless advised otherwise. So today I chose to put this friendship on the line and trust my friend on the full sweet recommendation. Drink comes out at a normal wait (5 min maybe) for the line and in goes the straw (no lid drama) and up comes the first taste. It's pleasant. Like a great self-made punch (but a tea) on a summer day from canned fruits (let's not lie to each other about what this really is). The mango is most of the fruit background and the passion is a light hidden tart/sour at the end. Notice something? Yea: where's the first ingredient from the order? Not there. I look at the cup where the directions are. Not not on the cup. Do I bother looking at the receipt? No. It's pleasant for what was in it and it was free (some of you would choose this battle and that's perfectly fine). So -1 star for missing the first thing ingredient I said, but execution was fine enough to where I'd recommend you (stranger of the yelp network who believes a long story may convince you to try this place) to give them a shot. And yes, I'd go here again. The boba was good. Not great but meshed well with the flavor and not over/under chewy as some of the other reviews mention here. I mean it was a Sat afternoon with not a terrible line. Take it how you will. Tl/dr: if you're touchy about too sweet, you can order full sweet (sample size: 1 - if you don't get this...too bad). The sizes are pretty big for the prices plus you get one free topping, but the amount they give is not enough for me. The staff was friendly, efficient, and if you don't like your creation, they make a new one for you. Oh, and they give samples of their creations while you're waiting in line. The drink itself was disappointing. The tea was not strong at all; you could barely taste it. Ever since we moved out of Pasadena, I have missed Tpumps. Tpumps is a great addition to Lake, and the service is always very pleasant. They customize the drink to how you want it, and the prices are reasonable. I use to love walking from our townhouse to Tpumps for a quick boba. I wish it's continued success. It is similar to Honey Boba in Arcadia, but the prices are better at Tpumps. Depending on the time you go, be prepared to wait in line. The line does move fast, and the workers do try their hardest. So hyped to try out this place probably just cuz of their cup designs. The store was simple and had colorful menu decor. The design of the store is just to order and go with a small waiting area. The pricing is great considering you can get a 32oz for 4 bucks! They carry a lot of teas and you can customize your own drink but I would say it's a little risky because you can't sample their teas. They have a couple premade samples avail so you can check those out before ordering but that's the closest you'll get to try their teas. So I just went based of "customers favorite" board. The hype is real! Tpumps is a boba chain originated from San Francisco and it has definitely made an impression on SoCal. The chain's main selling point is the mixing of flavors. Customers are allowed to mix up to three flavors which offers a plentiful amount of combinations to create and discover. Next, pick your base of green or black tea, milk or flavored, level of sweetness (I choose light) and toppings. The boba is consistently delicious and chewy. I usually mix with strawberry and mango but definitely explore and experiment with your own favorite ingredients. You're bound to find something you like. There's also a top 10 and fan favorites board to give you an idea of where to start! Service is very friendly and they usually have workers greeting customers and offering free samples of different drink combinations. This is a nice gesture and all the samples I've tried were great! The place is really small and is more of an order and go boba place. Free parking for two hours at the Ross parking lot which is a few minutes down the street. I love this place so much because there is such a wide array of options! But it also gets really overwhelming because I am so indecisive and I am really afraid to try new things! I literally take 5-ever to decide what I want. I get scared that certain flavors will taste bad but honestly, even when they don't taste as good as you hope, it's still something you can finish! Also, Tpumps care about their customers so even if you don't like your drink, they are more than happy to change it for you! For the size and quality of their drinks, it's very affordable! I don't think that anything I've gotten here ever costed more than $4.50 (because I only get the teas and not slushees). I wish there was one closer to my area, like in Rosemead, San Gabriel, or Arcadia. I only come to Tpumps when I'm in Pasadena or passing through Pasadena. Parking is a bit difficult because street parking requires you to pay. I always park in the dry cleaning lot. The driveway is down to the right of Tpumps right before you hit California. read more

This place definitely gets packed..so I'm informing you that you will be waiting in line. The line goes by pretty quickly but just letting you know! I was introduced to this place by my nephew who lives in the area ..& told me this place was the BOMB.com First off let me tell you that I am a BOBA fanatic! Literally my family & I are in love with Boba drinks. So of course I had no hesitation but to try this place out. & of course when you see a place that has such a super long line you know it's going to be soo good! So why the 4 stars instead of the 5?!!! I am only doing this because their drinks are way and super super sweet! I got the rose tea drink with less ice & only 20% sweetness. I got the drink n it was sweetness overload! N that's me who has a sweet tooth already n still their 20% sweet was super sweet to me. Now it maybe they made a mistake with mine but that's why I'm giving it 4 stars cuz it was insanely too sweet for me. So if your more of a sweetness lover than I am..then your at the right spot! read more
