Wow is this place popular. Walked in around 2pm on a weekend day and it was packed. Ordering is done on kiosks or on snackpass so I recommend placing your order on snackpass about 10-15 min before you plan on arriving. We needed up needing to wait 15 minutes but decided to roam around UCB while we were in the area to take up time. I got the C2 (classic boba milk tea) with 50% sweetness and less ice. I believe they charge more if you select no ice. Would have said it was up there in cost but it's pretty equivalent to everything in the area and it's a 22oz drink instead of starting at 12 or 16oz. One of my favorite classic milk tea in the area. I've tried a variety of places but they nailed the creaminess of the drink. Boba was a bit too sweet for me but sort of worked with my 1/2 sweet drink. Overall would come back and try something else! read more

WHAT I ORDERED 2 strawberry MT 30% sugar regular ice (bc it's blended drink) This was the top 2 drink on the menu, I was debating between the fruit tea or MT, so I trusted my guts and picked strawberry MT. It did not disappoint at all! So friggin delicious, it has the strawberry smoothie consistency but it's strawberry MT. I highly recommend it. Although there are many new tea places, TP tea is one of my all time favorites! The quality of the tea is pretty consistent and high in caffeine content. My go-to milk tea is the oolong at 80% sweetness as you can really taste the tea flavors. For fruit teas or milk teas, I always go for 50% sweetness because the fruit based ones are generally more sweet. Every time I've come, there has been a long wait. So it's not a quick to-go spot if you're in a rush. I believe you can try to order in advance online but tends to be a bit more pricey due to a additional fees. They also have a nice little number board so you can see if you're next even when outside. read more

I was searching for boba places around the area and found this place so I decided to give it a shot. They have a kiosk where you can order yourself. I didn't want grass jelly on mine so I had to tell them to take it out since the kiosk wouldn't let me do it when I placed my order. It was no big deal, but it's just something to keep in mind when you order. They were able to make our drinks in less than 10 minutes. I got one of their best sellers which is C4, Taiwan Classic Milk Tea ($6). It tasted a lot like tea which I don't mind, but I do prefer to have my drink sweeter. I really enjoyed the QQ noodles that it came with because no other boba place does that. The boba was nice and soft too. My boyfriend got the E3, Tie Guan Yin Tea Coffee Latte ($4.25). He said that it's exactly what you'd expect, coffee and tea combined. It was good, but nothing special. The street is pretty busy so it would be difficult to find parking. There is a parking garage nearby with plenty of available spaces and the first hour is free so I suggest parking there. I'll be coming back because I'm determined to find my go to drink! I must have come on a crazy ass day. It was New Years so not surprised most other shops were closed causing this shop to get absolutely slammed with boba orders. It was so hectic, an employee literally quit on the spot. I was shook. It took so long to get our drinks (~1hr), we ended up going to other nearby shops to order snacks to wait. None of this is a cap on the employees though - I could definitely see they were trying their best to keep up with their absolute ambush of orders. Despite closing off in-person orders, online orders were pouring in. Seemed like the owners did not care to come in and support despite the fact the store was clearly understaffed nor did they turn off online-orders. More so negligence on the owners part rather than the employees just trying to stay afloat. Ordered strawberry milk and the Tie Guan Yin tea. Sweetness levels did not feel consistent - the strawberry milk was at 50% sweetness and way sweeter than the tie guan yin at 75%. Again, very possibly due to the insane rush. No matter the sweetness level (more so me minding my quarantine gains) the drinks were delicious. Boba tasted okay, decent chewiness level, possible that there was not enough time to soak in the honey/sugar/sweetener. Would try again at a less busy time to see. I love that there are real strawberry chunks in the strawberry milk. This may very well become my drink of choice at TP tea! Staff is strict about limiting how many people in the store. I'm absolutely a fan for this boba shop! I first went there when they first opened and tried the chain previously in South Bay. My go to order is a tie guan yin tea latte. It's pretty rare that most places serve tie guan yin so by default this is already a plus for me! What I love about the tea is the flavor and taste. A lot of places have watered down tea which isn't as great. This place you can really taste the tie guan yin and it mixes great with the creama. For the few times I've been there (pre-covid), there's plenty of people and it's definitely a hit! Price point is about $4 without any topping. Like most places you choose the sweetness and ice levels. They only have one size and the portion is quite generous. Definitely would recommend this place for someone who wants quality tea!! read more

Stopped by during COVID-19 measures. What can I say? After trying TP Tea down in the South Bay, TP Tea is now my favorite boba spot! I'm so glad they have a spot down here in Berkeley, makes the drive so much easier and shorter! The store itself is decently sized, I can see that there is enough room for lots of seats. Alas, COVID-19 means no sitting inside the store. What's cool about this place is that when you get to the store, there are tablets that will take your order, so you don't have to physically go up to the counter and speak to the bobarista. The tablet is easy to use and they provide alcohol wipes on the side to wipe it down before use. Once you make your order, you'll recieve a text message of your order number, then you wait. When you get the text, it does say the wait time is about 15 minutes, so you can totally go on a walk and check out the other open stores. I believe they don't text you when the drinks are done (well I didn't get a text), so you either have to wait for them to yell out your number or check out their take out counter. They have an area where they place drinks for people to come and grab them! My favorite drink here has to be the Tieguanyin Milk Tea. I typically get 50% sugar and light ice. I got grass jelly this time too. The grass jelly wasn't anything special, and I won't get it again next time. If you're in Berkeley and you want some good milk tea, I highly recommend TP Tea! read more

Every time I visit Berkeley, there's a new boba shop. I'm not even exaggerating. I'm not mad bout it since this place is really good! I got the Tie Guan Yin Milk Tea with 80% sugar with boba and was a good sweetness level for me. However, I don't know I will be coming back anytime soon. I visited on a Sunday afternoon and called in to order and was estimated 20 minutes. You can also order there or order through an App, pay first and pick it on their stand in the front. When I arrived at the store, there were so many people inside the store that people were not social distancing properly. Most boba shops I've picked up from during COVID-19 don't even let people inside, let alone have 10+ people in the store at once. There are a lot of boba spots in Berkeley, but in my opinion, no place can compare to TPT. The ingredients taste fresh, the flavor of tea is present, and there are plenty of options for customization. I came across this place because of the noticeable high foot traffic in and out of the store during the pandemic; since then, it always seems full whenever I pop in for a drink. I usually go for the Classic Boba Milk Tea or the Moo My Taro, which has authentic and fresh taro paste. I will say, the noodle topping (reminds me of a really elongated grass jelly) was not my cup of tea. It felt a little inconvenient to break it apart, but interesting nonetheless. I first heard about TP Tea from my brother who treated me to a cup in Cupertino a few weeks back. I learned it's a fairly large chain in Taiwan. Of course, they would also have a location in Berkeley. To say there's a lot of boba in Berkeley would be an understatement. Despite the crazy amount of boba shops out in Berkeley, TP Tea is probably my favorite so far. Parking is a bit difficult being so close to the school. Plan to walk at least a few blocks. In store, ordering is done completely on the tablet. There's also an option to order on snackpass but I've never tried it. The store itself isn't very big and gets a lot of traffic so I ordered and waited outside right after. Having tried 2 of their more popular milk teas (Taiwan Classic Milk Tea and Tie Guan Yin Boba QQ Milk Teas), I can say they really do pride themselves on the tea quality. You can really taste the notes of the tea. My preference is to get the drinks with 30% sweetness as there's plenty of sugar from all the other toppings. I drink a lot of boba. It's close to campus, so parking is pretty much non-existent. The interior is really clean and minimally modern, with a few good seating areas for students to study (large groups probs wouldn't do well here). My friend and I brought some snacks in to eat while we drank our boba, and they were super nice and accommodating about outside food - they even brought out extra napkins for us. I ordered their number 2 best seller - strawberry milk tea. I have to admit, I didn't taste much of the milk tea (but not that I'm hatin' on it). It was surprisingly refreshing and thick, and was closer to a smoothie than a milk tea drink. They have quite a few other options (predominately fruits based rather than dairy based) or you could customize your own drink. TP Tea! My new favorite place in Berkeley! The first time I came to TP Tea was on a Thursday around 6PM. TP Tea is right by campus, so you bet it will be poppin all hours of the day. I ordered a Tie Guan Yin Milk Tea, which sounded special and the bobarista told me it was one of the nonsweet ones so I ordered that one. It was really good! Nonsweet and kind of a warm roasty drink. The other times I came I ordered that drink and the Strawberry Milk Tea, which I highly recommend. Its on the other side of the spectrum in terms of sweetness but wow, its a favorite of mine and others. It has the kind of texture of a Strawberry Smoothie, but its sweeter. You can't adjust the ice level, but you can adjust the sweetness. I usually do 30% and I still think its sweet. But its really worth getting. I also got to try my friend's regular milk tea from here, with a 100% sweetness, the most basic of all drinks, but I was really very impressed by this drink. At the time, I actually enjoyed it more than the Strawberry Milk Tea, and you know how much I like that drink. On a day where I'm not craving sweetness, I will order the regular boba drink, and let you know how it is while drinking the whole thing. read more

Small spot with a temp check device at the door. The device wasn't working, and the store was super busy! They have 2 touch screen kiosks you can submit you need to use to order from - the employees don't seem to take your order when it's busy, which is fine for me, the touch pad is super simple to use. It takes your phone number and you wait outside until you hear your order number or get a text that your orders ready - but from my experience today they actually called my number for my drinks - then 5 mins later received a text that the drinks were ready so just FYI the text system isn't super on point on busier days. I got the fantastic green tea, and my friend got the strawberry green tea. The fantastic green tea has apple pieces, chia seeds, and other fruits inside. It's very TART and sweet - even though I got it at the lowest 30% sweetness. But I absolutely loved it! Super good if you're a fan of very tart drinks. The strawberry milk tea has visible chunks of strawberries and is pretty much like a strawberry smoothie. Super thick but delicious! At 80% sweetness it was still super sweet but good! I had actually never heard of TP Tea prior to yesterday. But as me and the GF were walking through Berkeley, checking out the Telegraph Avenue Holiday Street Fair going on, we happened to pass by TP Tea and noticed their stand outside the shop advertising their strawberry milk tea. Despite the myriad of boba options available within walking distance in Berkeley, the strawberry milk tea looked incredibly appealing to both myself and the gf who is not a huge boba fan (something about sugar..unhealthy...), so we both agreed to come back after dinner. After finishing our delicious meal nearby at Muracci's, we came back to TP and got a Strawberry Milk Tea w/ boba, and a Passion Fruit Green Tea w/ boba. Both drinks were delicious, and it was obvious they used real passion fruit and real strawberry to make both drinks, as there were bits of both inside and you could really taste the freshness of the respective fruits. While the passion fruit was mixed with the green tea, the strawberry milk tea was mixed into a more smoothie like texture that still came out great! In addition to the drink, the boba was also really great and had a nice soft, yet chewy texture. As an added bonus, I noticed on their menu that they use real cane sugar rather than white, refined sugar. And after reading some of my fellow Yelpers' reviews below, apparently TP has a Cupertino location too. Will definitely be hitting up TP more often next time I'm in Berkeley as it has now become my new, favorite boba spot! read more

I'm extremely picky when it comes to boba, well, anything actually. I've walked by this boba place at least 10 times before I looked them up on yelp. Yelpers promoted this place well coupled with the busy crowds that I've witnessed when walking by finally brought me out here today. There are two kiosks for ordering which I prefer because with loud music and lots of college kids, people can't hear me. I ordered a jasmine milk tea with grass jelly at 50% sweetness because I was already full from eating a huge bowl of udon - otherwise, I would have really like to try their house made boba - next time! The jasmine milk tea was creamier than most boba places, but the floral jasmine tea flavor was fragrant and delicate. Honestly, this is bit similar to the royal milk tea I had in Japan or Chicago. Silky smooth milk tea, like it should be. They use cane sugar which maybe added to it's yumminess? So milk tea part was perfect, but the grass jelly was a hit too because the texture was just right - soft and lightly sweeten. Unsure if they make it in house or not, but it is now my favorite grass jelly so far in the bay area. It was so good, I choked on it because I was swallowing, but also wanted to savor it and it got stuck and seeped into my wind pipe. It's all good. It was a good cup of tea! I had never had TP before but the staff was really kind and patient with me with all of my questions. I APPRECIATE YOU GUYS, def the nicest bobaristas I've met thank you for introducing me to my new fave drinks!! There were only 3 workers on staff and a ton of takeout orders coming in (yes, you can also order takeout and pick it up on the designated mobile order spot on the left!) but they still got my order to me quickly!! I'm confident that the TieGuanYin tea latte / milk tea with boba is the best available in the United States. As someone who specifically seeks out oolong milk tea variants very very frequently in NY, LA, and SF, TP Tea does it best in my opinion. Note that I have a strong preference for the tea flavor in oolong milk tea drinks; while the boba pearls are well done and very consistent in the multiple times I've had it, I'm not saying that TP Tea's boba pearls are the absolute best. I go so far to seek out TP Tea that I will travel an hour out of the way (on an SF trip) to go specifically to the Berkeley location for one order of the Tieguanyin tea latte / milk tea with boba.
