Everything went smoothly with the purchase process, and I was excited to drive my car home…read more Unfortunately, shortly after leaving the dealership, the check engine light came on, and the vehicle began experiencing misfire codes. I'm extremely disappointed. I worked hard for every dollar I spent on this car, and to have problems immediately after driving it off the lot is unacceptable. While I appreciate that the dealership provided me with a rental vehicle, that's not the point. A customer shouldn't have to deal with major mechanical issues right after purchasing a vehicle. l've owned several used cars over the years, and I've never experienced anything like this immediately after a purchase. This has left me feeling like I was sold a lemon and has completely taken away the excitement of buying a new vehicle. I truly feel let down and disappointed with this experience. I hope the dealership takes responsibility and resolves this issue properly.

When I bought my '82 Datsun Nissan Sentra Wagon, the bundle of wires leading to the hatch had been completely severed. Fred reconnected and re-bundled the tailgate wiring. He fixed my back windshield wiper and replaced the blade. He got my license plate light to work. I am now STREET LEGAL. What's more, he fixed my cab light, headlight, and cigarette lighter/12 V charging outlet. Yay! Intermittently, I began having problems starting my engine. When it ran, it ran great. When I tried to show Fred the problem, it ran great. Fred patiently and thoroughly checked everything: spark plugs, carburetor, and fuel lines only to find that a failing fuel pump was the problem. Fred was careful to replace it with a recommended low-pressure pump to protect my carburetor. He also replaced a partially blocked fuel filter. Now, my engine starts right up, sounds more aggressive, has greater pick up, and gets better gas mileage. Fred will go extra miles to help a customer with a perplexing car problem. In his shop, repeat customers have only good things to say about him. Fred provides timely service and great value. He's knowledgeable, honest and fair. Fred is a Master Mechanic. Hey Sam! This was my…read more3rd visit to Team Mazda for its 2nd scheduled service of the 2025 CX 5. Why? Well, first trip there you were short on service staff and service technicians. I was sent home and had to reschedule. Fortunately, this reservation went without a hitch. That said, I had a 7:30AM appointment. One service staff member on that morning. Getting the car in for its 14,000-mile service took a half hour or so and I was the first one there. The car was in the service bay for more than 3 hours. Now, let's talk about the service itself: I was presented with 3 quote options. All over $1000 and the last of the three nearly $2000. Really? For a car with only 14,000 miles? Prior to owning this CX 5 I owned my dream car--a Jaguar F-Type. Never, in all the years of owning the Jag did a scheduled maintenance rise above $300. I found the Mazda experience shocking and completely uncalled for. Oil change. OK. Tire rotation. OK. Milking Mazda customers is unforgivable. In fact, 3-hours or so later when the car was supposedly ready, the service rep says, "You need a cabin air filter. Would you like us to do that for you. It's $89." Eighty-nine dollars to reach into the glove box and replace a $7 filter? Toyota: free scheduled maintenance the first two years. Same for VW. And other makes. The CX 5 is a nice vehicle. Not one that stirs my passion, but serves its purpose. After the projected maintenance costs of what's considered to be one of the more reliable vehicles, I'll pass. You have pretty much convinced me to unload the vehicle.

Since I have been going to Vallejo Car Care Clinic for maybe four years, primarily for a 2001 BMW CI, and I have always been pleased with their customer service, this car shop (Gil, in particular) needs a long-deserved shout-out. Gil is super attentive and very honest. Less than a week ago, I took my son's car to Gil. It is a 2005 Honda Civic Hybrid that needed a catalytic converter. Rather than take the job, which costs a decent amount of money, Gil asked me, considering the age and mileage of the car, if we really wanted to proceed with the repair. He said the Honda has two catalytic converters and, while the second unit did not register as defective, there is a good chance it will soon. So, we decided against fixing it. In my book, that is a remarkable trait for an auto shop owner to possess. He will not say what the customer wants to hear, like how soon the car will be ready, just to get their business. When he says the car will be ready at a certain time, it usually is. In fact, I do not remember him ever missing a completion date/time.
