Disappointed and Concerned - Avoid Township I visited Township near closing time with my wife, daughter, and her boyfriend. We ordered drinks around 1:50 AM and were peacefully enjoying them when, at 2:00 AM, a security guard aggressively demanded that I leave--even though I clearly explained I was waiting for my wife. Despite my calm explanation, he became confrontational and even violent. I immediately brought this to the attention of Matt, the manager, but to my surprise, he said nothing to the security guard and took no action whatsoever. We were left feeling unsafe and disrespected in what should have been a simple and enjoyable night out. This situation was completely unacceptable and potentially dangerous. I would strongly advise others to steer clear of Township. There are far better places in town that prioritize the safety and dignity of their guests. read more

If I could give 0 stars I would. Only reason i'm writing a review is because I went to the security guards to report sexual harassment/assault on another woman who confided in me and immediately the security guards didn't take me seriously, joked about it in front of my face. As a woman i'd say you'll most likely be met with some uncomfortable men and the people who work here don't care to make sure you feel safe at all. I can say that the person I was reporting also did something to a girl at Vice down the road and was met with a completely different reaction. The secruity guards at vice took me seriously and not only made me feel safe but also the woman who I was speaking for. They found the man kicked him out/looking at footage to ban the man. Point being, township won't do anything to keep you safe, and you'll be met with gross men working there allowing that type of behavior slide. Many reasons as to why woman don't report any assault that happens to them is because of the security guards(men of course) at township. Gross. I can understand what are they supposed to do but could've been met with more severity rather than the carelessness and misogynistic behavior i was met with. Can firmly say Vice Society will listen and take everything seriously and make sure you feel comfortable. The guards at vice even walked the girls out to make sure they were okay getting home. I also stayed with the girls for a while after. Just honestly disgusted and disappointed with the behavior I witnessed with the security guards at township. Thought the whole point of having security guards is for the safety of your customers? hm interesting. Mind you this is a place for college students to have fun, but the carelessness and ignorance makes it so unsafe for college girls. read more

Shocked and Disappointed by Township I went to Township with close family friends--some of the kindest, most generous people I know. What should've been a normal night out turned into a disturbing situation. My friend's wife and daughter were in the bathroom after ordering drinks just before closing. The security guard aggressively demanded that we leave immediately, despite us explaining we were simply waiting for them to come out. Even after tipping generously and being calm and respectful, the security guard continued to escalate. I was with them and asked for just a moment, but instead of showing understanding, he physically pushed them out. As soon as their family came out of the bathroom, they were met with aggression instead of basic decency. My friend's father asked Matt, the manager, to step in and de-escalate--but Matt did nothing. He said he couldn't do anything because the security guard "runs the show." That's unacceptable, and frankly, dangerous. This is not how any bar--especially one in a college town--should treat respectful guests or FSU families. I won't be going back, and I urge others to avoid Township before someone truly gets hurt. Unsafe and Poorly Managed I visited Township with my friends. We ordered drinks well before 2:00 AM, and while my friends dad were waiting for his wife to come out, the security guard became aggressive for no reason. We were kicked out even though we had done nothing wrong. I have never felt so scared in my life at a bar. The manager, Matt, stood by and did absolutely nothing to de-escalate the situation. The security guard's intimidation put us all in real fear for our safety. If you have kids or care about your safety, I strongly recommend avoiding this place. Not really my style or bar, went late at night and was overran with college kids, not very well kept trash everywhere, and the deeper you go the worse the smell got. I didn't expect much more but it wasn't keen to impress. Mixed drinks and shots were subpar so I stuck with bottled drinks after the first few attempts. I can't fault it, it is what it is being a college bar next to FSU, just being honest! I will mention though, the students tell me it's one of the better bars around so as long as they like it I guess it's all good ! read more

Township is one of those places people go when they don't want to be in a crowded club with people pushing and shoving to get through. Township's flip my ship is the perfect happy hour spot in Tally for upper undergraduate students looking to have a good time. The ambience is great, because if you want to dance then you can go to the beer garden but if you want to sit down and enjoy your drink then there are tables inside. Simply the best of both worlds. The bartenders are experienced, their signature cocktails are well balanced and well known all around Tally. The service for the most part is friendly as long as you're not causing a disturbance. To be honest I don't think I ever ordered food at Township, so I can't really say much about it's dishes but what I can say is that the bartenders make pretty good drinks. read more

The bloody Mary's were very good! The Nashville chicken was different than expected and I thought could have had more sauce so I asked for more sauce and they charged me 50 cents for a small side. I must say I hate restaurants that nickel and dime you especially when they're a nicer restaurant. Updated review : The owner kindly reached out and notified me that charging extra for sauce is not their policy and told me to come back in for another try! I gratefully accepted and had a wonderful experience. The staff was friendly and prompt and the managers Alex, Matt and Eric were awesome! Thanks Township, will be back many more times! Update : Apparently they DO charge for sauce and charged us $5 for a few ranches. I was charged again and when i mentioned how i didn't think that was their policy, the server said who told you that. I told them Matt and they said oh Matt was fried.....In addition, he told us we couldn't use our gift card all at once which is weird because the last server we had said we could. First of all i spent a ridiculous amount of money for the "perfect week" to earn this gift card and I think the management should really make sure all of their servers are on the same page because I keep getting treated a different way every time I come here! All my classmates told me to try out Township for the pretzels and beer cocktails. I brushed it off for a while, but there's limited options near FSU so eventually I made my way there. I understand why FSU's upperclassmen are obsessed with Township now - the drinks are amazing and very strong. All the beer cocktails and regular cocktails I've tried there are amazing and can't go wrong with any of them. The pretzels are great too and I love dipping it in the cheese sauce and mustard. Since I've been to Township quite often, I have had the chance to try their menu items. My favorite is the pretzel crusted pork chop - it's like an elevated shake-n-bake with a fried egg on top. It's all amazing (the fried pickles could stand to be better) but everything else is amazing, I've had brunch, salads, sandwiches, burgers (technically a sandwich), chicken, steak, you name it. Township DOES NOT disappoint. Put me in record saying the Township (a Bar) has one of the BEST steaks in Tallahassee. Everything is so flavorful. They used to do Taco of the month, now they do burger of the month and they do French Toast of the month. The good people who created Madison Social, Centrale, and all of their other restaurants/bars throughout FL and NY have done it again. I was very impressed with the speed that Township was built and how nice it looks. The building is huge in comparison to Madison Social and doesn't let you feel claustrophobic at all. We came last night to meet a couple of friends and to scope out the building and I was impressed. Although it was incredibly packed because it is new, it didn't seem like they were at capacity. The crowd that was there was more college kid oriented and I was kind of surprised not to see as many adults there. I have a feeling it will fluctuate on certain days. Now lets talk about the most important thing... the beer! They have over 80 beers on tap and you will never be able to try them all. They also have three sizes. Third, Half, and Full size Steins. If you didn't think you could drink a liter of beer, think again. After having 2 I was definitely feeling it and having a good time. The prices were decent and everything was clean. As for the food, I didn't get to try it so I can't review it (not yet!) I'll definitely be back and will update my review as I see more going on. read more

They have tons of drink options, including some gluten free ones such and ciders and some mixed drinks. I've only ever had their drinks for brunch and trust me I was not disappointed when my mimosa was brought out in a stein. They also do dueling piano nights every once in a while that brings in a crowd. Be sure to get there early if you want to grab a seat close to the pianos which I highly recommend. The staff are always nice. The bartenders are always ready to give you drink suggestions and having it right next to the stadium is perfect for game days. Plus it's a good representation of some of the food scene in Tallahassee since they team up with a few of the other college town restaurants to hold events and bar crawls. I love Township and have had many great times there, but the situation I've been dealing with for the past month has been beyond me... I went to TWP and ordered a drink and a burger. When I went to close my tab and pay, there was over $100 in drinks put on my tab. I told the bartender, who then tried looking for someone to fix it for over twenty minutes. Finally, he came over with the correct receipt which was around $20. The next few days, I notice three different charges from TWP that all equal out to around $150. Keep in mind, these were all three different charges, which I did not authorize. Instead of being rude, I tried to be nice and give them a call. They instructed me to discuss it with the Fort Lauderdale location. Once calling them, they were so confused as to why I was calling them and not the TLH location. I called TWP TLH again, and they told me they would refund the money as they found out what the issue was. That was over a month ago, and I have yet to receive my money. I've called multiple times to speak with a boss, the manager keeps telling me he will get back to me, meanwhile I keep calling to get a hold of the "boss". I have also sent them numerous DM's on Instagram when they wouldn't answer the phone, where they also left me on read?? This is actually ridiculous, and I've never been dealing with an establishment like this, where I am literally chasing them to get my money back on their wrongdoing. Township is a newer brewpub close to campus with an open garage-y feel that can be loud at times, but overall has a fun & energetic atmosphere. Their beers are slightly overpriced, but they have a good list of beers that are always on tap, and you get to drink them out of a fun stein mug! They also have a good selection of canned beers, mixed drinks and ciders. They post deals (usually on food) from time to time on social media, and those are worth checking out. Their soft pretzes are the best in town, though definitely overpriced. They have several bars, so usually it's not too hard to get a drink even when they're packed. I don't like that they serve beers in plastic cups on nights that they're super busy or there's a block party, since it's wasteful and seems to be less volume of beer for the same price. I love when they open the roof when it's nice out, and they have a cozy fireplace in the winter. Overall this place has good beers and snacks, and decent service. What you're really paying for is the younger collegetown vibe, so if you're looking for a fun happy hour/night out with friends or want to watch a game (they have tons of TV's), I'd recommend this. If you're older and don't want to be crammed in with drunk undergrads, I'd recommend a Saturday or Sunday afternoon, since there's a much more chill vibe then! read more

Came here on St. Patty's Day and it was a nice vibe. They have "Steak Saturdays" where For $20.00 you get a 10 oz New York strip steak, with a side, shot of whiskey, and 12 oz of your choice of Florida beer. I'm not really a beer drinker, but I got the Proof Lager and it was easy to drink and smooth...so I recommend it for any non-beer drinkers that want to try beer. My best friend lives in Tallahassee. I was there for a quick two day trip. Within those two days I went twice! If that doesn't speak of the food, drinks, and atmosphere I don't know what else to tell you. Collegetown is fun and has some great restaurants but the vibes at Township like its the restaurant you see from afar with the music playing, lots of seating, and the doors all open. Literally we were there with perfect weather waiting in between some baseball games with a beer and had a great time! I could've sat there all day catching up. Then the last night of my stay (a Sunday night) we wanted casual drinks and dinner. We walked through Collegetown and again the vibes are just right. There is something in the air there I swear so went back. This time are server was odd like crazy eye contact maybe a little flirting not really sure but great food. Tried to order the cheeseburger and was told to get the kids one which was less than half the price for almost the same burger! It was just one patty instead of two which is really all I need. Take your kids here. Take your dogs here. Take your drinking buddies. The atmosphere is perfect for whatever you want or need. It's been a while since I left Tally in 2013 and this whole area near the old IM fields has practically been through gentrification with a new urban outfitters and a whole bunch of gastropubs in the area. Township has an interesting marketing scheme or promotion going with a glass mug that gets filled with a liter of beer and the challenge that attracts most to this pub is that you have to try to hold the glass up with arm fully extended out and last as long as you can carrying that weight. It's funny seeing everyone try it out at the bar, part of you cheering for them to beat the record and part of you not wanting them to beat your personal record. Shifting to the food- buffalo chicken and fried oreos in a cone..not ice cream in a cone. Sounds peculiar at first, but super tasty in the end. With a nice bufallo sauce drizzled over fried boneless chicken and it is complimented well with the sweetness from the sugar waffle cone. My sister enjoyed her fried oreo, something I only see at fairs and carnivals..it is made easily accessible at Township. Have it for dessert and it's splitable among a group of friends. Enjoyed my time there, theres huge jenga, huge beer pong, huge connect four, and you can even play chess! Alright TownSHIT, you're up. This has been a long time coming. The vendetta started when I waited 3 hours for the ever famous "township card" that does absolutely nothing aside from get people in the door early. During syllabus week when I was there for 3 hours and only was able to have 2 drinks due to the always lacking ratio of bartenders to people attending. Not to mention neither of my drinks, which were the same drink, tasted even remotely alike. Fast forward to the last week of school, I left after 20 minutes of profusely sweating packed like a sardine between a sea of bag hungry maniacs. The drinks are more expensive then the price of the bottle they serve, and if you're a lime fan look no further because they LOVE making vodka limes with a splash of water. I just went back yesterday, hoping the curse would be broken but boy, was I wrong. Let me remind you, TownShit does $2 wells. I mean how much could I spend? After buying 3 $2 drinks and 1 Moscow mule, my card came back to $35 and to top it off when I crossed through the tip, the bartender looked at me like I pissed on the Mona Lisa. It's also really nice when you are taking a piss in the stall and a security guard peeks over to get a glimpse every time. This place is the perfect place to watch a football or basketball game, meet up with friends, and generally just have a good social time. I'm always meeting people here and the beer is good and the drinks are nice and strong. The food isn't my favorite but they have an awesome giant pretzel and a lunch Cobb salad that's to die for. I came in for a second visit with a friend from out of town so I thought I'd do my review. We picked this place because it's a fun beer vibe and my friend was into it. I personally don't like beer, but they do have a nice selection of ciders. I got a raspberry cider, I believe. It was too sweet to have more than one, but it was fantastic! Tasted a bit like fruity soda. We shared some snacks too. We got the deep fried Oreos which were AMAZEBALLS! It came with this tasty vanilla sauce in a waffle cone, which I ate with the sauce after we polished off the cookies. We also had the Nashville chicken which was fantastic. I did not, however, appreciate the waffle cone with it. This seemed out of place and a bit wasteful. I think maybe a savory cone would be better. Lastly, we shared the meat cone. I mean, if you love snacking on bacon and jerky then it's for you. Not for me. This also came in a waffle cone. I just don't appreciate the presentation of the waffle cones. Usually when you get a waffle cone with food it comes in a little holder. It's kind of just slapped on a tray with your food rolling all over the place. Don't get me wrong, though, the tray definitely fits the vibe. Another critique: I get that we're in in the south, but this is just not beer hall food! It was actually very good. But just doesn't follow concept. It's usually like pretzels, chicken, pickles, etc. This was mostly southern with like a pretzel and wurst on the menu. I'm from Philly where there's tons and I've been to Oktoberfest and it would have been fun to get food that's not abound in this region. I don't know, that's just my feeling on it. Township is the newest hot spot in College town. They have an awesome beer selection, and they can be giant! I came on a Wednesday night, and it was WAY more packed than I expected. They are definitely off to a great start. Township is unique to Tallahassee's beer scene in that they have the German beer garden feel. They also have 1 L beers, which you don't find anywhere else that I know of. With being so packed, we were lucky enough to find a table that someone had just gotten up from in the outside back corner. The way you order food and drinks when you have a table seems a bit backwards to me. You can order your beer at the table, but for food you have to go up to the bar to order. I was hungry and originally planning to order some food, but the line at the bar was way too long so I didn't bother. The waitress told us that when ordering food at the bar they take down your phone number and text you when its ready. I'm not sure how well this works out, but I'll find out next time and update you all! Our waitress was very friendly and helpful. The service was a bit slow. She told us that they were not expecting such a crowd on a Wednesday night, so they were understaffed. I think this is reasonable, because I definitely was not expecting the crowd either. So onto the beer! They have a huge selection of beers, 32 I believe. They have everything from stouts to Belgians to IPAs to ciders and more. I personally love Belgians, so I splurged and ordered 1 liter of the La Chouffe Spiced Golden Ale. It was huge! But just what I wanted. One was enough to get me through the whole night! You have your choice of 1/3 liter, 1/2 liter, or 1 liter. The liter comes in the traditional looking German beer mugs. Many of the liters run for $10-12. I ordered one of the more expensive ones, $19, because I was feeling extra. Overall, I think this place will definitely be a new hot spot in College Town. Seeing how it was so packed on a Wednesday night, I can't imagine a weekend night. Great spot to enjoy some beer and talk with friends! read more

Township is a solid addition to Collegetown. If you're a fan of Madison Social, you'll like the slightly different vibe that Township offers. Order food at the counter only, but you can order beer/drinks at the counter OR via table service. There was a hostess to explain to us at the door, we wouldn't have known otherwise though. Ordered beer cheese fries for $6 and a half stein of beer for $6. There are 3 sizes of beer steins, $4 $6 or $10. The $10 is a full liter of beer, not a bad deal. (edit: price varies by beer, but around this price point). Food was good, not a real "bang for your buck place" though. They had a bunch of options, but $9 for a bratwurst was a bit much for the vibe I thought. Kinda a weird notification system for getting food. Cashier took my phone number to text me when food was ready AND gave a number that's posted above door when order is ready. The numbers looked nice but were difficult to read even from a short distance. The text came a bit after I saw my number. When I ordered beer @ counter, my beer was left on the counter and wasn't communicated where I could pick it up. Overall, great feel and ok food, but it's a new place still working out some kinks. This is a great place to sit outside when the weather is nice and drink some beer. It's open layout... sit wherever you like. The couple of times I have been here service has always been good... however, it was not packed at these times. There are a lot of beers to choose from so you can always find something to drink. The 1L and 1/2L are reasonably priced. This was the first time I have ordered food here... I get that it's a gastropub but it's VERY over priced. I ordered the big daddy pretzel, the Nashville hot chicken and the grilled corn. I'm not a big pretzel fan but my husband loved it. I paid $6 for one corn on the cob split in half and put on two sticks. The Nashville hot chicken is like popcorn chicken with hot sauce. I did not enjoy it with the waffle cone. When it was served, the chicken was spilled over the tray out of the waffle cone and there was not very much chicken (refer to my picture)... $9 for some 10-12 measly pieces of small chicken! I was still hungry after that I ordered a bratwurst which was pretty good. The ordering process is strange. You can order drinks from your server but not food. So you have to go up to the counter and pay separately. They take your phone number and say they will text when your food is ready. I never received a text and servers ended up bringing the food to our table. Bottom line... go there to drink, not eat. read more

Township is off to a good start. The place is an Americanized college version of a German beer bar and everyone is loving it! This place is like the Costo of beers- the more you get at once, the cheaper it is per beer (and they have one cider on tap too). Although the beer has good prices I'm not down with all the food pricing a per the portions you get. If I were to recommend something off the food menu, get the pretzel! It's absolutely amazing and probably their best food deal for $10. My boyfriend said that their 'hot dog' (the knockwurst) was not worth it at all and couldn't finish it.. But he was the biggest fan of the beer cheese fries ($6), although the portion was not large at all the quality was surely there and they aren't afraid to sauce it up (literally food sauce, I know I'm appealing to a collegiate crowd here) All in all a great spot to hang out. My first time was awesome when I came for the New Leaders Council Brunch. Interesting brunch menu. I had the pork belly french toast, this was probably the best french toast I've had since I have lived in Tally. The apples piled on top had a nice bourbon spice to them. It would have been nice to have the option of chicken instead of pork. I try to steer clear of pork but it was good. I had a tasty mimosa and friends really enjoyed their beers. This is the avocado toast that boomers make fun of millennials for. The drinks were exactly what I was expecting, hence boosting my review above one star. Came in and sat down waiting for service. Chilled for about ten minutes and was very confused so we went up to the bar and was told "sit anywhere and a server will be right with you." Sat down, waited another 5 (place was far from packed) and someone talked to us. Really can't get over the single small bread slice and what appeared to be store bought guacamole. Maybe I'm being too harsh, maybe this is right on the money for someone from Ft. Lauderdale with a Benz and a matching eating disorder, but I'll leave it to them to keep Township open in the future. Also if this place gets the "vegetarian options" descriptor on Yelp the I guess McDonalds qualifies as well for its selection of a salad and fried potatoes. I was here briefly and had a good time. There are plenty of drinks and food to keep you busy. The bartenders were helpful and accommodating to drink requests. The restaurant space is very open, with some of it being outside. So coming here on a nice day is great. However, if the weather is bad I don't see this place being much fun. read more

Pending review AVOID AT ALL COST My friends and I decided to go here on the 4th of July to celebrate my commissioning into the Florida National Guard; and not only did I experience the worst service, but most of the staff is rude and entitled. Not only was I threatened to have the police escort me for complaining about the poor service, but one of the managers laughed and said that "I was not in the Army and that I needed to stop using the Army card" One of the waitresses was being so rude, my friends and I decided to cancel our order and go somewhere else. As we cancel our order the waitress just says "whatever", as she rolls her eyes. I go and try to talk to a guy that says he's "the manager", he was young looking and he just listened to us as my friend and I are just saying how horrible we were being treated on the 4th of July. Then in the back I see the waitress yelling something at me. Some other guy comes in an says he's the manager, so at this point I'm confused as to why everyone we encounter keeps saying they are the manager... This guy says that they've had a complain about her before but I need to leave because I was being "aggressive", AKA complaining and standing up for horrible service. Unbelievable, not only are the workers being rude, but they are also condoning this behavior among their staff and having no sense of accountability. My friend STILL ended up being charged even though the staff kicked us out. All we wanted was a new server, I don't know anyone that wants a rude service. Honestly, I don't know what is wrong with the staff and why they feel so entitled? The next day I find out that the same thing happened to our friends minutes before we arrived. read more
