We were pleasantly surprised with this place. First off, the layout is very nice. Tons of tvs and open space and room separation. Really nice place to hang out. We went on a Sunday afternoon so it was relatively dead, but the service was good and they will let you know a little bit about the beer or sample something if you're on the fence. I had the harpoon white (I love harpoon) and an oatmeal cookie stout that they had on rotation. Both nice and refreshing. My boyfriend had another white Belgium but idr what it was and the vanilla porter. He was happy. While their menu is weird at first, everything we saw leaving the kitchen looked delicious. We split the corn which was sooooooo good. It really was amazing and I would totally recommend if you like Mexican street corn. read more

Township lives up to its motto of "For the table, by the people" as it brings people together over great beer and food. Located at the corner of Madison and Woodward, Township lies in the heart of Collegetown and is the perfect place to meet up before a football game, as we did before the spring game. Although very busy during this time, we were able to easily navigate to the bar and get our order in. The menus for beer and food are large and easy to sort through, so it isn't difficult to find something you want. Plus, prices aren't bad at all, especially considering the prime location here, and there are even weekly specials on top of that. The bar and kitchen seem to be well-staffed and trained, so it does not take long to receive your order. Finally, there is a variety of seating, whether you want to sit inside by their cozy fireplace, regular indoor seating, or outside on the patio. Overall, Township is a perfect place to meet up and offers a great experience. read more

We absolutely love Township! Have been on multiple occasions (afternoon hangout, soccer matches, Dueling Pianos) and always have a great time! We're not part of the college crowd, so we like to go either in the afternoon or on summer nights when it's less crowded. We recently took my in-laws and their neighbors, and everyone (ages 9 to 69) had something to enjoy! Plus they do deals for locals during the summer, which is a really nice way for non-students to come enjoy Township during the off months. I am not a beer drinker, so I love that they have a full bar to go along with their impressive beer selection. (Shout out to the Gärden party beer cocktail, though. YUM.) Food menu is small but delicious. Pretzels on point. Poke nachos and ceviche tacos are delicious, and a great addition for non-beef eaters to enjoy. Tons of areas for seating inside and outside. We went on a dueling pianos night this summer, and while it was SLAMMED, it was a great time!! The bartenders were amazing at keeping up with drinks (even remembering what we were drinking, even though the place was literally packed to the gills), and even though we're "old," we didn't feel out of place - my husband even got hit on by some young thing, which made his night. In town for parents weekend at FSU went here Saturday for a soda- hubby got a 32 oz beer it was great but we got our drinks and left. Came back Sunday for brunch- we were seated right away- also great. Our waitress who seemed new- told us that a few items weren't available (should have taken this as a sign) but ok- no regular potatoes but they have sweet potatoes instead which is fine, I love sweet pots. We were brought waters, I had coffee hubby had OJ. Approx 45 minutes after we order, our waitress asks if we are ready for the check, uhhh no cause we still haven't eaten(another sign- should have paid for coffee and OJ and gone somewhere else). 10 minutes later or so the manager comes over and is pretty worthless- no better at customer service than the waitress. About another 10-15 minutes goes by and I get my food and at least another 5 minutes and the rest comes out. So, the food, it's ok. Pork belly French toast- the French toast was more like grilled Texas toast not coated in egg. The best part of that was the bourbon whipped cream. Sandy egg- think that's the name- an egg sandwich with cheese, sausage and a super tiny dot of avocado mayo. This was so-so dish. The other dish was a chicken sandwich that I'm told was good. We shared the township fries which have beer cheese and cheeses curds- probably the best item but remember they didn't have regular potatoes and were going to sub sweets- well apparently that changed - they didn't even tell us that they now had white potatoes- so what if we only ordered it for the sweet potatoes.... the slowness of the meal prep wouldn't have been so annoying if the waitress checked on us for more water, more coffee and OJ. Had the manager seemed more sincere when apologizing for their inability to prepare dishes in a normal time span. Curious how the white potatoes magically made an appearance in the kitchen. read more

Township is a great place to grab a drink or a bite to eat during the day or at night. It's a fun, german-style beer hall and there really isn't anything else like it in Tallahassee. It gets crowded on the weekends and during football games, but since there are multiple bars and a bunch of bartenders working the wait for a drink isn't usually bad at all. They have outdoor and indoor seating with long tables and benches which are perfect for large groups. It does get a little hot inside sometimes especially during the summer, so it's nice to sit outside and enjoy the fresh air. The drinks are reasonably priced and they have a large selection of beer on tap. I enjoy the beer cocktails which come in different sizes. The liter size is perfect for sharing and come with big colorful bendy straws which are fun. Township has been a go-to spot for me to grab drinks with friends. I've gone more times than I can count since they've been open. When I do visit, I make sure to go to the bartender Meaghan if she's working. She's been working at Township since they opened and she's the absolute best!! She's super sweet, helpful, and her drinks are always on point! read more

Came here for a fundraiser brunch so a specific menu was created. I ordered Pork Belly French Toast and the Funky Buddha Floridian & Orange Juice. I typically don't like French toast because it's soggy, but this was perfect! I also love nice food presentation so that was plus. First of all, when I went at night just to drink it was ridiculously full and the wait was godawful. I went to "brunch"" today and they still haven't changed the signs on the front door with the correct hours- so people were waiting around for an hour for it to open. I ordered black coffee and it was so watered down I couldn't drink it. There was a fly inside bothering us at our table and it was really cold in there. The waiter told us they were out of creamer- when they weren't. He also didn't know the pancake of the week. And since when does a brunch place hold your credit card hostage? So bizarre. I've been here twice since they opened and both times have been less-than-impressed by their service. The first time I sat at the bar on a quiet afternoon and was met pretty well by the server, food came out quickly and it tasted fresh. When I returned my friend and I sat outside among a few other tables of people and were legitimately ignored for a good 20 minutes before I had to flag down a manager to ask for waters and to place an order. The server who had our section was attentive to other tables but never bothered to check on us, and came up with a dumb excuse for it about "being swamped" when she finally had to tend to us. What was meant to be a quick lunch ended up turning into close to an hour spent waiting on a beer and a pretzel, which was cold and served with cold cheese, although the fried pickles were BY FAR the best I've had, and my friend agreed. Pork was very tender and the sauce on them was a sweet glaze and it was delicious. Tried the tuna poké nachos as well and the tuna seemed fresh and had a good portion size but the wasabi drizzle on top was a little too spicy for me. Pretty cool location back behind FSU in the new brick buildings. The beer choice is GREAT and the food choices are excellent too. We had the Tuna Poke Nachos and they were the best thing ever. I'd get them again in a minute. The pretzels are huge and worth sharing as well. I've visited twice, once for dinner and once for brunch. Dinner was good, got the coffee rubbed sirloin, didn't taste much coffee, but got a good piece of meat for the price. Also shared the cheese fries with a friend, very good, super indulgent and fatty. I got the Spiced Golden Ale and my friend did the Tropical Pale Ale, both really good. Brunch was pleasant, though they weren't able to offer the dish I was initially going to get due to not having the proper ingredients for it. I ended up getting the Bacon Fried Rice (which was extremely filling!) and my friend got the Shrimp and Grits. Grits were eh, though my Fried rice was pretty good. Big mistake: We went to check out this place for dinner (tagline is "For the table from the people"). This place is not a restaurant. It is a gastropub/bar that happens to have some food options. Based on our misinterpretation that this place was primary about the food, we were disappointed. Trendy food that is extremely overpriced with fast food style counter service. You order at the counter, they text you when the food is ready, then you pick it up at the counter. Eating midrange priced trendy food off of paper plates and trays in a cafeteria was a let down. We ordered the grilled corn, New Orleans shrimp, and four little pigs. The grilled corn was the best thing we ordered (and not too far overpriced from Mexican fair corn on a stick), so yummy. The shrimp was a disappointment: 4 shrimps on 2 skewers with an awkward baguette for $13? Still hungry after. The description of the four little pigs of being on a "tray" made me think it was going to be like a meat and cheese board, but it was presented as a pile of potato salad mixed with bacon, half a kielbasa, and half a brat for $16... on a paper plate on a tray that I had to pick up on my own... that still left me hungry afterwards... more disappointment. For the restaurant category, the place gets 2 stars. If you want a full meal, stick with MadSo. BUT, let me re-orient my brain to think of Township as a gastropub type place. I give it 4 stars. This place might have the best outdoor atmosphere in Tally (or at least in college town)... at least when the weather is as perfect as it was tonight when we went. Good music, good lighting, good decor with fireplace. It was delightful. The appeared to have a large draught beer selection, but it turned out that only 9 of the 28 listed beers were available.... more disappointment. I guess that what happens when you have a hopping opening weekend. But still, if the gastropub thing is going to be your jam, you should have at least majority of the beers listed available. So yeah, I guess I was disappointed by the beer selection too. But the atmosphere and decor was just so cool on the night that I went that I can't NOT recommend it. I have been to Township a few times and have always been shocked by the poor customer service, even when I have been there for work events. I recently went for lunch and was met by an extremely unwelcoming and rude waiter. My food was alright but extremely overpriced. A couple of the people at our table had issues with their food and the rude waiter was completely unapologetic. A table sat down next to us and left after our waiter refused to take their order or get someone to take their order. On top of our already unsatisfactory experience, it took around 20 minutes to get our checks after we asked for them. It's really a shame as Township has a great atmosphere and is in a convenient location. read more

The latest edition to College Town and it is poppin'! For a while now I have been wondering what was going to open in the space across the street from Madison Social. Madison Social is a must go to place when you are in Tallahassee and it appears that Township is already headed in that same path. Brick walls, high ceiling, open inviting space, garage style walls that open to the air and various types of seating. The crowd is of course very college and sometimes fratty. I have been on a Sunday where there was only like 2 other groups of people, then I went on a Wednesday night where it was super crowded it took me like 20 minutes to order a drink. It varies. This place is primarily for drinking beer especially since they have Liter size beers. Liter! OMG! How awesome it is to drink my favorite IPA in a larger glass and at a very good price. Most of the large beers are around $10 and one is pretty much all you need. There are many different options and something for everyone. On my latest visit I did notice there was vodka and wine being served, so non beer drinkers can get something too. The food here is nothing amazing and the pricing is a bit high for the size of what you get. It is really bar food and appetizers, not meant to be a dinner. Township is a fresh place and I see myself coming back a lot. There are a few kinks they are still working on such as the service. I sometimes get confused if a waitress is coming to me or if I have to go up to the register to order. They do this thing where you order and they text you when it is ready. Only giving it a 3 star because the nice gentleman saved the day, the abrasive woman behind the bar was pretty rude and although there were 6 people at the bar 2 of which who already had beer and food, and the other 2 were sitting next to me also hadn't been served yet. After about 10 minutes (lowballing it) she told the guy Next to me not to vape inside and then waited another 5 minutes before serving either of us . Maybe every other restaurant I've been to is different but I feel like if you have time to tell someone to stop vaping and time to text for a few minutes you probably have time to ask if I need a beer or anything . I'll probably be back because of the close distance from my house but I'll be sure to go to any bartender except for her EDIT Management here couldn't be much better they accepted that bartenders are human and can have off days and made sure to message me and resolve the problem , the owner Matt and the managers Jason and Alex made sure to get me back in the bar by doing their due diligence on the situation and making sure to fix the problem. I had a very good overall experience at Township! We decided to try out Township for my boyfriend's birthday, and we had a great time! The atmosphere is nice, a warehouse industrial look, but clean and new-made from scratch. There were plenty of people around, even though it was Monday night after the typical dinner rush. The food was EXCELLENT! Everything in the menu is unique and creative, but mixes flavors VERY well. I would have never thought to combine some of these items, but eating at Township made me wonder why I haven't been dipping waffle cones in hot sauce my whole life. There is a great selection of beer as well! The only downsides we found at Township are that everything is a la carte and it's a tad overpriced. For two people (one beer each), fried chicken, fries, jerkey, and a bratwurst. Our total came out to about $50. My 12oz can of cider alone was $6. Township is our new go-to payday restaurant! Also, we would LOVE to see more interesting desserts from Township! Maybe a dessert shop in one of the vacant buildings next door? We can only hope! read more

Worst experience ever. And it went from bad to worse. Started out as a mismanaged private event where the servers and staff were ill-prepared to handle the number of people. When we decided to leave the event, and eat at the main restaurant, we expected better, but got worse. Brand new server - very nice, but was literally being trained trial by fire. No menus or silverware. Then waited about 30 minutes for drinks. Finally, after much questioning, 5 of the 8 at our table hot food! Food was good, but cold. Talked to the manager... and that was the worse yet. Was told that 1) the event was originally told it "was not going to work" - hmmm... then the restaurant should turned away the business , and not created the contract. 2) that food was served in the order the food came up. I'm no expert, but shouldn't the food be by TABLE? 3) was told 3 people called out. Well, there were plenty of servers waiting at the window with no one cooking. A good manager would've been COOKING themselves, or at least helping in the kitchen. Amazingly enough, we were not offered any comps... not for the cold food, late food or 3 hour wait. Realistically we wasted almost 3 hours for eggs. Grateful that the friendship was good. I would imagine that when managed correctly (as in - quit seating people or warn them of what they're about to experience), the place might be good. Until that manager (Jason, I believe) is gone or retrained, I'll go elsewhere. And based on the response from the Business Owner below, only addressing the event, and not the terrible service at the restaurant (experienced and called out by multiple customers NOT related to the private event), the way the food was brought out, the way the manager told US that they warned the private event that the plan wouldn't work - but they still took the business anyway, etc... I won't go back. Lots of good info on the private event that I wasn't aware of, but no acceptance of the rest of the issues means that this business feels they're perfect, and everything is great! read more

Township is a really good addition to Madison and collegetown. I love their beer mugs and the sizes are generous. I think the prices are really reasonable. We wanted to watch a certain game. From where we were seated there were 12 tvs and 6 were on the same channel. Had a mixed experience over at Township. We had arrived late from a long day of driving and wanted to order dinner quickly knowing the kitchen closed at 10. We arrived at 9:50~ and couldn't get anyone's attention. The manager type directed us to the bartenders who were busy and we knew that it was getting late. Luckily Hannah was incredibly helpful and worked with us to help soothe any issues with kitchen/staff. Without her intervening the situation It would've been a different experience totally. She was extremely thoughtful and turned the whole anxious experience into a positive one. They were out of a good number of menu items but what we did order was very good. Chicken sandwich with bacon was great and guacamole was too along with Mahj tacos. All in all - fine place to watch the game and grab some bites - THANKS TO HANNAH! read more
