First time here, and I have to start with the staff--they were incredibly friendly. Every interaction was genuinely sweet and welcoming. This place was pumping! High volume, people constantly coming and going, and I can definitely see why it's a local favorite. Unfortunately, there were some misses. The floors were sticky, the tables were sticky, and our onion rings came out room temperature. The fries were soggy, also room temperature, and just didn't taste fresh. The burgers, though? Outstanding. My burger was seriously spicy--and I LOVED it. Easily the highlight of the meal. Service was friendly, but after asking for our check, we waited about 10 minutes and eventually had to get up and look for our waitress. Granted, they were crazy busy, so I understand--but it was still annoying. Overall, I can absolutely see why people love this place, especially for the burgers and friendly staff. Dined here yesterday with my family. We ordered BBQ wings & Buffalo wings ( all flats) $1.00 up-charge. We also ordered a cup of chili with cheese, sour cream & scallions. Very good. My daughter made mention chili was good but a lot of beans for her liking. But flavor was great! Also ordered Pastrami Ruben ( no burger patty) & onion rings with 2 dipping sauces for an up charge of $.75 cents each. Sandwich & onion rings were great. Our server was polite & attentive. Food came out in a timely manner. My only feedback would be when there is an up charge we should have been notified and asked if that is okay. I didn't mind paying for the sauces & all flats but it's customary and appropriate for the waitress/water to notify of additional charges. We will definitely be back though. read more

This is probably one of my favorite burger spots in town now. Their sister location, Monks, closed down several years ago so this is now my go to. My friend and I were visiting Tallahassee and found this restaurant on Yelp. We showed up about 45 minutes before closing but didn't feel rushed. There were so many burgers and items to choose from. My friend had a soup/salad combo and she loved the soup. The salad was huge (could only imagine what the regular size looks like). I had the gator hater burger. It was AMAZING! We were driving around Tallahassee looking for a unique local place to stop for lunch when we happened upon Midtown Caboose. The exterior was interesting and we didn't even think it was a restaurant at first but it looked intriguing so we stopped. Parking was tight and the lot was full but we managed to snag the last spot. We had our pup with us and did not see any outdoor seating so we decided to make an order for pick up. The menu was overwhelming. They had so many unique things on offer it was hard to decide so we each ordered a lunch and we got an appetizer to share. We ordered the pulled pork wontons to start and I had to order the caboose blt because I am a sucker for fried green tomatoes and sourdough bread. I ordered the hushpuppies on the side as well. My husband had the Liberty Bell burger because he loves a Philly Cheesesteak and was excited to try their play one one and he ordered his with tots on the side. It came to $55 for all that before tip. When my husband went inside to pick up the food they had just finished bagging it and handed it off to him, however when we opened the food a bit later, there were no napkins or utensils inside at all. We had to eat the entire meal with our hands. That was ok for some of the food but the wontons/eggrolls and sauce proved a bit more difficult and I don't particularly care to eat greasy food with my hands, especially without napkins. Things like that matter to the customer. The food was ok. My hush puppies look burnt in the picture but they tasted just fine and the blt was...well, a blt. It was a bit dry and you couldn't really tell they tomatoes were fried. My husband said his food was fine as well. The wontons were supposed to have been "award winning" but they were a little strange and the sauce was sour and not to our liking. One of the best burger joints in the area. Have never had a bad burger here. They do a great job for folks with Celiac and gluten free options. Liberty bell, or the sushi chef all day long. We arrived right around eleven and it's a good thing we did because by the time we left the parking lot was completely full. The menu offers plenty of appetizers, salads, sandwiches , and more than enough burgers with plenty of unique names and ingredients. I went with the Gator Hater burger. I've been here several times throughout the last 10 years (as well as their previous location) and they've always been incredibly consistent. Our waitress, Kayla, was amazing. Super friendly, patient, and knowledgeable on all of the menu items. My greek squad wrap was flavor forward, which is always great to experience when eating a vegetarian meal! In town for business and decided to stop by. Ordered the PB&J burger with sweet potato fries and decided to try the pulled pork wontons. The PB&J burger is not something I would typically go for but read on the reviews it was the best selling burger so I gave it a try. You can choose the jam for your burger with choices of blueberry, strawberry, or grape. I ordered blueberry. First bite I couldn't decide if I liked it or not. Second bite it hooked me. You can taste the juicy burger with the sweetness of the peanut butter, then comes the crunch of the bacon, and lastly the sweetness from the blueberry jam. Wow! I'm impressed. This burger may not sound great but it truly is something special. Give this one a shot and you won't regret it. Now after giving the burger so much praise I'll share that the sweet potato fries are also very good. I could only eat a few due to the burger being so filling though. Lastly, I decided to try the pulled pork wontons as I hadn't eaten all day. Yep you know the feeling right? You're eyes are bigger than your stomach lol. I learned my lesson. Now these are basically pulled pork egg roles. They were very greasy so I could only eat one and they come with 5. I personally wouldn't order these again but that's just me. This was a great spot to stop by and grab a burger. I had the Italian stallion, a twist on the traditional pizza burger that included the sauce and cheese, but also had pepperoni on the burger - absolutely delicious, and perfectly prepared. The burgers are a little bit higher priced than the standard burger place at $18 for the burger, but overall and excellent value. Service from Danielle was efficient and friendly. This is not a high-end restaurant, but they do have many seating options including a covered outdoor patio that's not visible from the parking lot, making this restaurant much larger than it appears. Overall, if I lived in the area this would be a place I'd visit frequently. read more

I think this was my first time trying this particular place. Pro tip there is parking in the back of the establishment that is much easier to access and maneuver in. They have indoor and outdoor seating that is pretty standard. Our waitress I believe was Liz and she was great. I should've tried a burger and I was pleased to find out that they are connected to the former Wells Burger joint that closed a few years back. But I opted for the quesadilla which was still pretty good, I just didn't love the salsa. I ordered the hush puppies for my side and they were just OK. They have a ton of burgers that are almost overwhelming to consider and you can also build your own. I'll definitely give this place another whirl. read more

The first bite of the Mac Daddy was like a cheesy wonderland that melted in your mouth. A great choice if you love Mac n cheese and burgers. My burger and fries came out pretty quick and I have to say that it was truly a stellar burger. I had it cooked medium-rare and it was perfectly cooked. The Midtown Caboose is a great option for a hamburger in the Tallahassee, Florida area. Not only is the food great, but the staff is friendly and professional and the overall vibe fits perfectly with their simple burger driven menu. Overall give this place a 7.2 it's nice and you'll want to go a few times to try a couple options but the menus can be a bit much and I did find the flavor just a little lacking The waffle burger was good don't get me wrong but it don't hit like I had hoped. I love all the variation you can get at Midtown Caboose. 3/4 of us got the runaway train burger, one with burger meat, one fried chicken, and one grilled. It was like 3 different experiences, but all so delicious and not like something i had ever had before. There were many creative takes on burgers and sandwiches and I was pleased that our server did not mind getting us multiple sauces as they had a plethora of signature and housemade sauces. My favorite was the railroad sauce which was a little spicy and horseradishy but I also really enjoyed the maple mayo that came with the burger.
