Patty melt cheese burger with French fries
    James S.

We stopped in with the family to get something to eat. The atmosphere was cozy. The staff was very attentive. I got a cheeseburger patty melt with chopped cheddar cheese and order of fries. The burger was good. I liked it on the sourdough bread. My wife got a salad with grilled chicken. She said the greens were very fresh and the chicken was cooked to perfection.

It's the concept and unique curb appeal that made me stop. It was in the mode to be wowed by a boutique eatery. Entering the restaurant the hostess was very nice and accommodating. The seating was tight. I could reach out and touch my neighbor. The chair seat was hard, like no cushion at all. I ordered the Georgia Peach Tea - it's priced above $10 but tasted like water; the Runaway Train with Turkey, I wasn't a fan; and sweet potato fries- mediocre It just wasn't what I was expecting.

My friend and I were visiting Tallahassee and found this restaurant on Yelp. We showed up about 45 minutes before closing but didn't feel rushed. There were so many burgers and items to choose from. My friend had a soup/salad combo and she loved the soup. The salad was huge (could only imagine what the regular size looks like). I had the gator hater burger. It was AMAZING! I had a side of Mac & cheese...also very good. Service was super friendly and nice. This place is on my list to go to next time I am up there!

We were driving around Tallahassee looking for a unique local place to stop for lunch when we happened upon Midtown Caboose. The exterior was interesting and we didn't even think it was a restaurant at first but it looked intriguing so we stopped. Parking was tight and the lot was full but we managed to snag the last spot. We had our pup with us and did not see any outdoor seating so we decided to make an order for pick up. The menu was overwhelming. They had so many unique things on offer it was hard to decide so we each ordered a lunch and we got an appetizer to share. We ordered the pulled pork wontons to start and I had to order the caboose blt because I am a sucker for fried green tomatoes and sourdough bread. I ordered the hushpuppies on the side as well. My husband had the Liberty Bell burger because he loves a Philly Cheesesteak and was excited to try their play one one and he ordered his with tots on the side. It came to $55 for all that before tip. When my husband went inside to pick up the food they had just finished bagging it and handed it off to him, however when we opened the food a bit later, there were no napkins or utensils inside at all. We had to eat the entire meal with our hands. That was ok for some of the food but the wontons/eggrolls and sauce proved a bit more difficult and I don't particularly care to eat greasy food with my hands, especially without napkins. Things like that matter to the customer. The food was ok. My hush puppies look burnt in the picture but they tasted just fine and the blt was...well, a blt. It was a bit dry and you couldn't really tell they tomatoes were fried. My husband said his food was fine as well. The wontons were supposed to have been "award winning" but they were a little strange and the sauce was sour and not to our liking. For all the unique menu ideas, the actual presentation fell flat, especially at the price point. It wasn't terrible but it just wasn't that good either.

The burger and cinnamon sweet potato fries were delicious!!! This restaurant made me reconsider saying Tallahassee had no good restaurants.

We were driving from Jacksonville to Panama City Beach and decided to stop here for lunch today. It was a great decision. We arrived right around eleven and it's a good thing we did because by the time we left the parking lot was completely full. The menu offers plenty of appetizers, salads, sandwiches , and more than enough burgers with plenty of unique names and ingredients. I went with the Gator Hater burger. It came with cheese, onions, lettuce, tomato and bacon on toasted sourdough bread. It was a good size burger and very tasty. My husband had the Italian Stallion burger. It came with pepperoni, mozzarella cheese and marinara sauce. He loved it. Sides included french fries, tater tots, green beans, cole slaw or fruit. Service was friendly.

I've been here several times throughout the last 10 years (as well as their previous location) and they've always been incredibly consistent. Our waitress, Kayla, was amazing. Super friendly, patient, and knowledgeable on all of the menu items. My greek squad wrap was flavor forward, which is always great to experience when eating a vegetarian meal! The hushpuppies were hot and the portions are generous. The table also ordered the triple play, gater hater, the oh canada burger, and meatball sub. Every item was well loved and there isn't much on the menu that I wouldn't try. Definitely a staple to Tallahassee culture!

    The PB&J

In town for business and decided to stop by. Ordered the PB&J burger with sweet potato fries and decided to try the pulled pork wontons. The PB&J burger is not something I would typically go for but read on the reviews it was the best selling burger so I gave it a try. You can choose the jam for your burger with choices of blueberry, strawberry, or grape. I ordered blueberry. First bite I couldn't decide if I liked it or not. Second bite it hooked me. You can taste the juicy burger with the sweetness of the peanut butter, then comes the crunch of the bacon, and lastly the sweetness from the blueberry jam. Wow! I'm impressed. This burger may not sound great but it truly is something special. Give this one a shot and you won't regret it. Now after giving the burger so much praise I'll share that the sweet potato fries are also very good. I could only eat a few due to the burger being so filling though. Lastly, I decided to try the pulled pork wontons as I hadn't eaten all day. Yep you know the feeling right? You're eyes are bigger than your stomach lol. I learned my lesson. Now these are basically pulled pork egg roles. They were very greasy so I could only eat one and they come with 5. I personally wouldn't order these again but that's just me. Overall the burger and fries are well worth the visit. Stop by this place on your next visit to Tally or if you're in the area. You won't be disappointed.

    The Mac Daddy (hot bbq)

I loved the rudy especially the pickle taste it had. The Mac Daddy was pretty good too I wish it had a little more bacon. The service was quick though, wide variety of sauces to choose from, but do cost extra, just under $1, but something to keep in mind.

Had the grilled cheese and they didn't disappoint! My grandbaby got the Caesar Salad. Spilt my water good thing they cleaned it up. Overall the food was wonderful!

PB and J burger with sweet potato fries

Food was amazing. Had the wontons and goat cheese for appetizer and the PB&J burger for dinner. We had a wonderful waitress and I want to try every item on the menu. I honestly might come back tomorrow.

They also offer a 5% discount if you pay in cash, which is a nice bonus. I got "The Hummer," which has turkey, feta, black olives, tomato, onion, and lettuce on rye-pumpernickel with mayonnaise and house dressing. It was so good. The bread was SUPER YUMMY and looked beautiful too (if you care about aesthetics). All the flavors blended together really well without anything overpowering, and it had this refreshing quality to it that made it stand out. I would definitely order it again. My partner got "The Sauté," which is turkey with Parmesan, Cheddar, Swiss, and a mix of sautéed onions, peppers, and mushrooms on a warm poppy seed roll, plus lettuce, tomato, mayonnaise, and house dressing. The roll was good and it was very flavorful but is was the combination of the veggies, turkey, and melted cheeses gave it a lot of depth. Everything tasted fresh. I got a combo with Mrs. Vickie's salt and vinegar chips, which is always a good sign. And the sweet tea--wow. It wasn't overly sweet, but what really stood out was the flavor. You could actually taste the tea, with slightly minty, earthy notes that made it feel really well done. That's rare. Overall, for what this place is, it deserves all stars. The staff was kind and helpful, the food came out quickly, and everything we had was genuinely good. P.S. There is no photos because I forgot due to it being so da** good!

Our lunch was beyond expectations! The She Crab and Tomato bisques were savory, filling, and hearty enough to eat as a standalone. Paired with the sandwiches, they satisfied our tummy with enough leftover for dinner too. The Fried Green Tomato sandwich was a perfect blend of savory and sweet with the tomato jam kissing the Rosemary Focaccia and the Boursin cheese added a nice bite. The Grilled Cheese sandwich brought us back to our childhood but better, with an adult flavor profile for refined palates. Shhh don't tell Mom. The level of care, expertise, and love that goes into each of these dishes, shines through each and every bite. We had the pleasure of enjoying Chef Leon's food at a local charity event. We were fortunate to snag a very coveted lunch spot. The restaurant is going through some changes and is currently not serving lunch BUT Chef Leon is offering soup orders on a regular basis. My goodness! I can just put all of my pots and pans away and order directly from him. I look forward to what Chef Leon has planned for us next.
