Stopped by Black Radish while visiting Tallahassee and ended up staying longer than planned because the atmosphere was really comfortable. I ordered the tofu lettuce wraps first and added the orange olive oil cake later after the server mentioned it was one of their more popular desserts. The lettuce wraps were fresh and had a good mix of texture without feeling too heavy. The cake was surprisingly light with just enough citrus flavor and not overly sweet. Service throughout the meal felt attentive but relaxed. Our server checked in at the right times and kept things moving without rushing us out. It felt like a place people actually enjoy working at, which made the whole experience nicer. read more

Took the family there for a birthday meal and the best thing about it was Kylie, our server. $94 steak, while cooked as ordered was so salty, $67 meh butter chicken dinner that came with a good kale salad . Lemon pasta that was gummy and not very lemony. Why does Tallahassee have all these great small restaurants that become sooooo mediocre after a few months??? So many vegetarian and vegan options it was hard to decide what to get. I got the Pretty Spritz which was just okay admittedly but I did like how it cut the acid of my dishes. My two food items were the Thai Peanut Cauliflower and the Mafaldine Limone Pasta. Devoured separately, of course. Both were high acid and beautiful. I love the setup here of small plates to share, and everything I had was so tasty! My favorite was definitely the acorn squash fritti, but I'd recommend any of it! Visiting my daughter in Tally. This place was recommended by a friend. The menu is mostly vegetarian but they have a few dishes with meat. Personally I thought the food was absolutely delicious. Oh my gosh. Everything about my experience was 10/10. There was a 1 hour wait, and it was well worth it. The service was amazing. The food was delicious. I didn't even get alcohol and my drink was delicious. My friend and I were seated at the bar in front of the kitchen, and I really enjoyed watching the chefs bring each order to life. The Location | Parking is always going to be a PITA because of the odd location. We parked in the lot across the street and had to cross Monroe before and after dinner. The Service | Excellent. Hostess was informative and listened well. Becca, our server, bounced in and out a couple of times, didn't hover, and had good energy. There are five chefs on the board and we engaged with two of them. Mattjew, the head chef & co-owner, chatted us up and told us how they get the tofu so crispy. So cool of Matt to share the intell. So, I really wanted to like this place. The service was good I love the atmosphere, the open kitchen where you can see the chefs at work. There were some dishes that were really stand out and then others that were just OK. We started the night with the potato balls and the acorn squash tostada. The potato balls were exactly how you would imagine mashed potatoes that were deep fried but the potato itself lacked flavor in my opinion. The tostada on the other hand was absolutely delicious it was beautiful to look at and delightful to eat. Tons of flavor, and every aspect of the dish paired well with one another. Now onto the entrées. I had the ricotta gnocchi and it was just OK. My friend had the creamy lemon pasta and I enjoyed hers more. Another friend had the mushroom dish and it was also very lovely in the way it was plated and she enjoyed it very much. Instead of an actual dessert I opted for an espresso martini that was pretty good, much better than the sangria that I had with my meal. The other standout dish for me was the broccoli and kale Caesar salad. It was absolutely delicious. Because of the care I felt was taken with each dish, as well as the service I received, I will definitely try this spot again because I believe the menu changes seasonally. Adding yet another 5 Stars. Incredible. We are foodies. No guilt or shame about it. Black Radish has now risen to be our #1 Restaurant in Tallahassee. Both because of all of the amazing flavors and unique dishes AND because they change the menu so frequently while still holding on to the fan favorites like the Bubble Potatoes and tofu lettuce wraps. Our favorite spot to sit is now at the bar talking to Matt and watching the magic happen. Our food was superb. Unique flavors. We've been to Black Radish twice, and even though I'm not vegetarian, everything has been amazing! They have seafood options, and the service is fantastic. We tried the Bang Bang Bubble Potatoes, Spicy Ahi Tuna with Crispy Rice, and my fiancé loved the Mexican Street Corn Cappelletti. We found our new favorite restaurant in Tallahassee. We sat at the kitchen counter, overseeing the entire production. The kitchen, chef and staff were impeccably, clean, organized, and laser focused at preparing some of the most delicious and beautiful dishes we have seen in a restaurant in a very long time. Our server Erin went above and beyond to ensure any questions we had were answered AND we had a personal touch on our dining experience. Erin provided personal drink selections including a special off-menu spicy Wickle's Pickles martini which was excellent. Additionally, all of the food was top notch. Highlights include a perfectly cooked Ribeye, a flavor packed Gochujang pasta, and delectable fried asparagus. Great food and drinks! I love the vegetarian/vegan-friendly theme since there's so much to choose from. They also have a great selection of both tasty mocktails and cocktails. Very unassuming little place with creative and delicious dishes. We started with the bubble potatoes, the mini sourdough boule, and the miso grit cake. All were excellent! The bucatini pomodoro was a little disappointing as it is described as having 50 garlic sauce, but wasn't that flavorful. The spring pea carbonara was great! The Citrus grilled red snapper was good, but not outstanding. The spicy cucumber salad was fabulous! For dessert we had the olive oil orange cake and the peanut butter pie which was so freaking good! We ventured into black radish last night. We've been there before and had very lovely experiences. This one not so much. The first dish was excellent. It was a noodle dish. I can't remember the name, but it was phenomenal. The second dish was scallops when I seen the advertisement I pictured in my mind scallops probably three of them half dollar size sear to perfection. They were quarter size not much thicker than a quarter disgraceful then we got to the buttery chicken. it's a meal for two me and MY WIFE ordered it and to be honest with you. I forced one of the cuts of chicken now MY WIFE refused to eat it we're spicy and very Indian but I guess we should've known that anyways the restaurant is good. The service was OK. mara was our server and she did a good job the ambience was so so we had to sit outside. We will probably be back but it won't be anytime soon. We had the Miso grits for appetizer along with a delightful red wine For our entree my husband had the spinach tortellini. He was very pleased . Had the bubble potatoes as always, they stepped it up with the amount of sauce they serve with it, 'Preciate! The sourdough is spectacular. The new chipotle sweet potato flautas were amazing. Tried the half portions of the mushroom pasta (play of sunlight mushrooms, amazing cream sauce) and the new gemelli sausage pasta (the slightly spicy sauce was insanely good). I love that they serve half portions of the pasta so I can try more! My husband had the old fashioned and I had the Tegroni which was soooo good. Took the carrot cake to go and we are happily eating it currently. This is a restaurant I always recommend to everyone. Consistently one of the best in Tally for sure. I heard so many great things about Black Radish. I was excited to try multiple dishes on their menu. I started with the beet salad with the whipped goat cheese. There were two types of beets and the salad was really tasty. I also tried the bucatini pasta with the creamy cashew sauce and peas. I'm not a fan of peas and this dish was heavy with them, so I only tasted it. The cashew sauce was tasty. They do a good job with the vegan dishes. I got the ricotta gnocchi with a Parmesan cheese sauce. Delicious!!! The gnocchi was pillow soft. The only thing I liked better was the dessert, an icebox peanut butter pie with a chocolate topping. I had the pesto linguine with the Sherry Cobbler cocktail. The pesto was so rich and creamy. The cocktail was spiced pretty well but with a very low alcohol content for the price. We decided to try every dessert as a group also. The sweet potato ice cream was the best with the vegan orange cake as a close second. The tiramisu would be good for someone who doesn't like their dessert too sweet, but that's not me. (; No notes on service. Another restaurant that was on my Tallahassee list. My word. What took me so long? This little restaurant was outstanding!!! They don't take reservations so our party of 5 arrived shortly after opening. Lovely restaurant but it's small so plan accordingly. Our server, Moira (spelling?) was an absolute delight. Her suggestions and service were spot on. Their menu is seasonal and what a menu it was. Her first suggestion was the green bean appetizer. Hmm. How exciting could a green bean be? Well let me tell you. Sautéed with sides of red pepper hummus, crispy chickpeas and schug which is a green herb sauce that was fantastic. Always cool to learn something new. Bang, Bang Bubble Potatoes was another suggestions and it was fire. And that mini sourdough boule? Wow. Just wow. Entrees that she suggested and we chose were Mexican Street Corn Cappellacci, Squid Ink Spaghetti with Shrimp, Summer Low Country Boil and Chimichurri Bone-In Ribeye. And the accompaniments that came with them were fabulous. You need to look at their menu online for descriptions. What? Are we in Tallahassee or some big, swanky, urban city?
