This quaint small restaurant is a hidden treasure. The ambiance is calm and pleasantly pleasing. My husband treated me to this amazing French inspired dinner for my birthday. The Flounder was the best I have ever tasted in Tallahassee; Lightly dusted Panko crumbs and flash fried/sauté to perfection. Rosemary Focaccia bread was insanely delicious with special olive oil mix, My husband had the beef short ribs with mashed potatoes both were seasoned with love. Came here for a bday dinner while staying in Tallahassee for a few days. Tucked in a small building on a main intersection corner, it truly is a gem in this part of town. There was a standard menu given to us along with specials for the evening. Also notes were wine specials and a decent wine list. Two in our party enjoyed a Pinot Grigio and a Sauvignon Blanc and exclaimed good quality. For starters we got fresh bread that was accompanied by seasoned olive oil and an herbed butter. We also had the flash fried artichokes; recommended these 100%. There were little strips of red bell peppers mixed in and note, when I say "flash fried" I'm talking a lite dusting of a flour batter and super lite fry...no grease. Dinner entrees consisted of the birthday boy ordering the filet, au gratin potato and asparagus. Three of us had the flounder that had tomato confit, artichoke, hearts palm, olives and mandarin oranges. The filet was cooked perfect and extremely tender with the sides paired perfectly. The flounder was exceptional and no plate was left with a morsel to be seen! The dessert menu was hard to choose from but we settled on brownie with sauce and vanilla ice cream and the raspberry cheesecake. Add in a couple of after dinner coffees/espresso the meal was perfect. This restaurant is small but not elbow small. A few tables outside for nice weather occasions and a small bar to seat 3-4 people. Had the lobster bisque, potato leek soup n artichoke hearts. The soups tasted good. The artichoke hearts were ok.we're deep fried. For entrees had the spinach mushroom lasagna, ratatouille , rack of rack of lamb n filet mignon. Never had spinach mushroom lasagna n it tasted too. The ratatouille was good too. The restaurant is small, but not cramped. We were greeted and seated promptly and all the staff were very friendly. I thought the dishes seemed creative without going overboard and overall, the menu had selections that should please most groups (fish, chicken, seafood, salad, etc all on the menu). My rack of lamb was delicious and cooked perfectly (medium temp). I also enjoyed the couscous and vegetables, but I thought the dish was slightly over-salted. Mimi' has only three main assets going for it: great service, great food, and understated elegance. I returned to Mimi's last night for a special occasion and William and his staff were all very welcoming. We started off with their signature bread and olive oil (it is worth going to Mimi's for the bread alone) and had the Special of the day, panko crusted flounder on a bed of sauteed artichokes, hearts of palm, mushrooms and tomatoes. It was one of the finest fish dishes I have ever had. The service was excellent, with Rachel being very mindful to be there exactly when we were ready for her. Prices were very competitive with restaurants, yet the quality of the food at Mimi's is far superior. This is a hidden, low-key gem for Tallahassee. read more

I was a guest at a family dinner but feel obligated to call a bad experience out based on how it was handled or rather not handled. Seated at 6pm as a large party of eight and were not served main courses until 745 with almost zero communication from the server, no floor manager and no offer of restitution to make our family dinner salvageable. Worst of all bread ordered from menu took 20-30 minutes to table and we were told "the kitchen is firing up fresh bread" which btw is not offered just for sitting down. The aforementioned bread was room temp upon arrival and did not remotely taste like something freshly baked. No need to tell a tale when the kitchen is either short staffed or incompetent. Also when the mains came out they were highly staggered, dishes were ok at best and at least one dish was cold and needed to be returned (mine of course). They brought it back warmed with my bite still visible. Weak. They do start with an amuse-gueule (small taste) and that was immediate and was fine. Applaud trying to bring a fine dining or European type experience to town but this is not it. Close and retool if what we experienced was typical. Bottom line a generally bad and highly tardy meal can be salvaged by staff staying in touch with the table and at the end offering a return visit or comp to make it right. The server did apologize when presenting the check with a service charge applied. I would never return here. read more

Found this restaurant on the internet and liked the reviews so we try it. On Sunday night, they were packed but we only waited about 15 minutes. Small restaurant with both inside and outside seating. Small but nice menu and the same for the wine list. Started with an Amuse Bouche, which was pulled pork over slaw, very good. My friend ordered the Chopped Wedge Salad with grilled chicken breast, iceberg lettuce, tomato, bacon, chives, fried onions, and blue cheese dressing. He enjoyed it. I opted for the Seafood Grill, gulf shrimp, jumbo sea scallops, fresh lump blue crab, grilled corn, onions, tomatoes, peppadew pepper, sweet potato, arugula, white wine, and basil. Their wine list is excellent, and our server even suggested dishes to pair with our selections, which we really appreciated. For my main, I chose the grilled pork chop. It was juicy but lacked the flavor I was hoping for. The mashed potatoes were light and tasty, though the collard greens weren't my favorite. Dessert was the key lime pie, but the crust-to-filling ratio felt off almost equal parts crust and filling so we ended up enjoying the filling on its own, which was excellent. Simply delicious! We had plans to dine in at this restaurant, but due to last minutes changes in our schedule, we weren't able to do so. Instead, we ordered our meals for pick up. I ordered the Trout Almodine with green beans, and mashed potatoes; my appetizer was the frito misto (fried calamari). My husband ordered the seafood grill (which he wasn't too crazy about), along with butternut squash soup. I had key lime pie as my dessert. I am looking forward to dining in next time. The Saturday post Valentine's Day, we had a reservation at Mimi's Table to have a belated Valentine's Day celebration. Ethan was our server, and he was personable and polite. We started off by sharing a bottle of rosé, the bottle being so pretty I took a photo of it. We opted to begin with small appetizers of bread and olives. Both were fresh, and the oil accompanying them, only augmented their flavors. Upon eating these, we were presented with an amuse bouche that wasn't bad, but it wasn't good either. I think it'd have benefited from being warmed up. For our main dishes, we had the lasagna and the short ribs. I was surprised I chose lasagna as I kept looking at seafood that night, but it was a long day and I wanted something comforting. The lasagna was just that, along with hearty and tasty. I even wound up with leftovers. The short ribs weren't my dish, but they were inhaled. I was told that the dish, the food overall, was better than expected. This is high praise, considering my companion is typically quite picky, and when I chose this restaurant for our dinner, he wasn't too enthusiastic. He also let me know he had not been there in years because nothing stood out to him. I think it's safe to say after our visit, we will most definitely be back. I think it's just a matter of having the right occasion. Mimi's Table isn't cheap. This is a high class restaurant in Tallahassee near the hospital. The restaurant has about 16 tables and bar area. Not much of capacity. The parking is at the back. After order of the food, the complimentary chef special with Mozzarella Cake was delivered to the table. The cake has good red sauce. I also got a glass of sparkling Rose Sangria with hibiscus and ginger. The drink is good. Ice is a bit too much. My main dish is the Australian Lamb Shank. It braise with red wine and Moroccan spices. It was deboned and easy to eat. The sides are couscous and grilled Brussels sprouts. The main is delicious. Overall experience is about 4.5 stars. This place has gone down hill from my last visit about two years back. The beef tips to start out are flavorless. The short rib, also flavorless. I got the chefs special which was the trout. It was not like any trout I've ever had. It was not fresh, it was actually foul. I only took a single bite and tried to politely tell my server that it was not good. Then the manager came out and told me they could not refund me. He was asking me questions, and the tables are very close to eachother. The last thing I wanted to do was shake the chef or restaurant that everything was horrible in our experience. The trout was appallingly bad. I respectfully said I didn't care for it and left it at that. The manager then said they couldn't comp the meal, but could offer half off. Our server was fantastic though, very prompt and extremely nice. It is a nice little restaurant that I wanted to like, but the food just isn't good - price aside. I would recommend trying a dish before serving it to your guests. It didn't really seem salt was used in anything we consumed. read more

I was very excited to try Mimi's table for the first time. I went for dinner with my friend. They started us with an amuse Boucher, zucchini with herbs and sunflower seeds that was unremarkable. We ordered the crispy artichoke with aïoli as a starter. We also ordered the Rosemary focaccia bread. The artichokes were good. The focaccia bread was phenomenal and it came with olive oil that had herbs and grated Parmesan in it. We also asked for butter and got a compound butter that was really tasty. Be worn that they do charge a dollar for the butter, which I wish they would've told us when we ordered it but it's only a dollar. We both ordered the red sangria, which was good, but I would have liked some fruit. For dinner I ordered the rack of lamb. Tender, and had a very tasty sauce on the top. It came with couscous, which wasn't memorable and crispy brussels sprouts that seem to only have a crisp on the outside layer, but it had Parmesan sprinkled on the top which did help. My friend had the special melon gazpacho, and the pasta dinner with chicken. She loved both of them, especially the gazpacho. Overall, it was really tasty food and I look forward to going again. We are in town from NC on a college tour of FSU for our son. It is difficult to find restaurants that are open on Sundays, so we were excited to see Mimi's Table was an option. Our service was awesome and the atmosphere is cozy and business casual, which is comfortable for us. However, from the moment the food started coming to the table, we were disappointed. The three course menu looked yummy on paper, but the quality of the food was just not to our liking. There seemed to be mango in every dish, the food was lukewarm when it was served, the flavors in every course we ordered were overwhelmingly strong and unbalanced. The service ended on a positive note with Tiramisu, Chocolate Torte Cake and wonderful espresso, which is the reason for 4 stars instead of 3. I hope it was just a bad night in the kitchen, so we will give it another shot when we are here next. read more

I love this restaurant! I took my wife here for her 30th birthday and it was an amazing experience. It really gives you a fine dining experience unlike any other in town. For our appetizer, we had the Frito Misto, which had a combination of calamari, peppers, and artichoke hearts. They were deep fried and served with marina sauce. The flavor could've been a little more strong but it was still good. They also brought us a cheese combouche (sp), compliments of the chef, which was good as well. For my entree, I had the grilled pork chop with collard green and mashed potatoes. The pork chop was sensational! I loved the flavor of it and was so juicy. The texture was good too; I like a little char on mines. The collard greens were sweet, which was a little different for me. I though the mushroom sauce from the pork chop was a good compliment for the mashed potatoes. For desert, we shared a slice of key lime pie. It was very good. I had the LaLa Land IPA from Proof Brewing it was a good complement to the meal. Also the ambiance was great. He agreed and told us that the restaurant was taking steps to resolve. Nothing has happened since. Literally, it's almost impossible to carry on a conversation. The ugly: On a $200 bill, it was hard to stomach the $1 charge for extra butter to go with the $4 bread. Don't get me wrong, the food was quite good. I particularly enjoy the braised beef tips. (For the seafood combination, the shrimp were somewhat over cooked and the sea scallops somewhat under cooked.) But for an upscale restaurant to charge a buck for butter, on top of $4 for the bread? Tried this place for the first time for my MIL's birthday dinner and we had a delightful time. Maddy took care of our party of 9 and didn't miss a beat. This place isn't toddler friendly so keep that in mind when making dinner plans. Thankfully I saw the menu ahead of time and made sure my 2-year old ate before he went. But pack juice or milk if that's your LO's thing because they don't carry either. Each course was delightful. The complimentary cucumber salad, the fried to perfection calamari, the authentic Caesar salad with the lemony zing and the Greek Moussaka was delicious. Once I found the place it was very inviting. Hostess was pleasant. Since we didn't have a reservation she gave us the option of outside or at the bar. Given it was too chilly outside for my dinner mate we chose the bar. Shortly after being seated at bar the hostess informed us that there was a no show and we could have a table if we preferred. We took it! I really appreciated her thoughtfulness on this matter. My coworker ordered a pasta salmon dish that looked amazing. He planned on saving some for lunch the next day but couldn't stop himself from eating it all. I was surprised that he wasn't served any bread with this pasta dish. We ordered: fritto misto, spinach and arugula salad for appetizers and seafood grill, flounder, short ribs and rack of lamb as mains. The fritto misto was very delicious: fresh and the right amount of batter. The portions were much smaller than expected: my seafood grill at $33 comprised of three large delicious scallops and three medium shrimp on a bed of grilled corn and cherry tomatoes. My hubby gives his dish a 2/5 because he said his fish portion was extremely small, too salty, the seasoning was overpowering and was in two pieces- like frozen fish from a packet. My son's short rib was tasty but very small compared to recent photos submitted by other Yelpers. The medium lamb chops came medium rare. Food taste 4/5; quantity 2/5. Desserts: key lime pie and tiramisu. Key pie was on point 4/5 while the tiramisu lacked the requisite rum2/5.didn't like the cherries in the tiramisu, because the cherries' tartness detracted from the smooth taste of the tiramisu. Drinks ordered: craft beer and Rose wine. Service: 3/5. Server never came to ask how our food was after entrees were served. He came and asked about our dessert. The atmosphere is nice, and they have the music at a good volume so you hear it but don't have to yell. The only negative is they don't have any semblance of a dress code. I can't say enough about Mimi's Table. Hands down, my current favorite restaurant in Tallahassee. I wanted to update as we have done a few of their Food & Wine pairing dinners and I think they require some notice (but not too much as reservations are tough to get). The value of these special events is unreal. Five course meal, paired with five wines makes for a fun evening, but the icing on the cake, if you will, is the chef and wine rep's verbal description of each dish to all those attending. It brings a lot to the experience. The reservation process was easy, and the waitstaff were nice. But the food was disgustingly tasteless. It was not only my entree but my parents' as well. None of us were pleased with our meal.
