Really loved the upscale remake! We have been coming here for years to the cafeteria style lunch. Had no idea that a brunch was the new feature for the weekend and a full service dinner menu in the evening! We enjoyed brunch so much we came back for dinner the same day! The menu items include both traditional and creative thoughtfully prepared offerings that are delicious and attracted plated. The decor is classy and modern with the addition of a very nice bar and sport spectator area. For brunch I had the half fried chicken which includes 4 pieces separately fried. I had collard greens which were fresh but just okay flavor wise, but I really enjoyed the roasted carrots! My aunt had a pork chop sandwich which came with delicious home fries! My uncle had fried fish and grits with scrambled eggs and biscuit. The seasoning and crust on the fried items was perfect! When we returned for dinner, we enjoyed the unique appetizer....boiled peanut and neckbone boil. I enjoyed the vegan black eyed pea soup. It was classic comfort food, I had the chef add in some collards and it was delicious! Also enjoyed the BBQ shrimp even though I was expecting it to be a little more wet. I did not get to taste the gumbo or the smothered fried shrimp and grits but I saw some clean plates-lol. The staff is super friendly and attentive and it's very clean. After checking out this restaurant on Yelp, my family and I decided to give it a try for breakfast. When we arrived, the place was empty. However, we were greeted warmly and pleasantly by the worker who helped us understand a bit more about the menu. She was so friendly. The restaurant was super clean and spacious. That was a nice touch. I was just a tad disappointed by the breakfast offerings because I was hoping for an omelet or pancakes. Also, the hashbrowns and home fries didn't seem to be the freshest. I went to celebrate my friend's birthday at their new Sunday brunch. It's not their usual cafeteria style. They have a limited menu of sandwiches, breakfast plates and a few soul food style meals. I ordered the fried pork chop sandwich and home fries. It came on a pretzel bun with lettuce, tomato and a lemon thyme mayo. The pork chop itself was well seasoned. My server forgot the mayo, though which made the sandwich dry. I also asked for the fries to be crispy, and they were not. It was only the second day for brunch, so I understood. They had a vegan fried green tomato sandwich, so they accommodated me by letting me order just the tomatoes as a side. I didn't taste any salt and it was twice the price of other sides, so I wouldn't get that again. They also have bottomless mimosas. The mango flavor was delicious! The waitstaff was very nice! They sang for my friend and chatted us up. Our server was struggling a bit to keep our orders straight. Overall, give them a chance. Once they work the kinks out (and add a salad PLEASE), it will be great! read more

If you like good southern food, you should check out Earley's. It's in an unassuming old building. The inside used to be very hole in the wall, but they've remodeled and it's much nicer now. I love their breakfast--all the things you'd expect: grits, eggs, bacon, sausage, etc. Lunch is kinda hit or miss in my opinion but can be great if you come when the food is hot and fresh. Service is cafeteria style: you tell them what you want as you walk down the line. For the price, Earley's is hard to beat. read more

First visit to Earley's Kitchen. Ordered Fried Chicken with greens and Mac 'n Cheese to go with peach cobbler for desert. As far as southern comfort food gos, Earley's knocked it out of the park. The chicken was crispy on the outside and moist on the inside. Greens and MC was like momma used to make . The peach cobbler was the perfect finish to this traditional southern experience. The service was warm and hospitable and even though I got my food to go, the ambiance of the seating area was clean and welcoming. I haven't been since the remodel and I've been twice recently. Once for breakfast, once for lunch. Both were very good. It's just something about that link sausage that gets me! I double ordered that! I had the meat loaf which was really good! I have to see what's served on particular days but I will definitely be back. One word: Excellent! I recently tried a few dishes from Earley's Kitchen dinner menu, and they were excellent! I had the grilled pork lion chop with sweet potatoes, a vegetable kabob, and added collard greens. The pork lion was perfectly grilled and moist, and the sweet potatoes were cooked to perfection. The collard greens were also well prepared and flavorful. I also had the Bourbon Glazed Pork Belly as an appetizer. The appetizer started a bit sweet, but it was perfect when poured over the pork loin as well. The hostess and waiter were also very friendly and helpful. Eh. After reading so many rave reviews I was expecting something special. I don't know if it's bc it was mid-morning Monday but it was dead in there. The multiple staff on the floor completely ignored us until we asked them how the place worked. Made it clear it was our first time in & we didn't know the system. It's a buffet style, put it in a box for you breakfast, pre-cooked. I didn't see this anywhere in the website & was expecting a sit-down restaurant w wait staff. Wet, runny powdered eggs are the only egg option so it wasn't a good start. The huge sausage was delicious & is the sole reason for both stars, the potatoes & biscuit were just ok. The woman who plated the food was the only person who semi-acknowledged our presence. When I ordered coffee at the register the person by the coffee have a big dramatic sigh like I had asked for a table for 14. They made it very clear that we were not welcome & everyone working there wished we would not have come in. It was not a good experience. read more

Monday Special.... yes please!!! Several choices of meat, lots of side choices & your choice of hoe cakes, corn bread or corn biscuits. The beef in the stew was so tender & hands down, perfect fried chicken! No room for desserts of the day (key lime cake, red velvet cake & they put out a banana nut zucchini bread as we were leaving) but they looked tasty!! This was our 1st visit but my husband was already planning another visit for more beef stew! I'll get the oxtails next time! As an aside, it's got a great ambiance inside, the staff is pleasant, and the sweet tea is sweet. Definitely a place to try if you haven't!! read more

Yesterday was my first time visiting Earley's and I can't believe I haven't found this place earlier. Food was absolutely amazing, the service was quick and everything was cheap. The environment in the restaurant is modern and super clean. The staff was extremely nice and wore their masks the entire time. They had all the condiments and extras you need organized for you. The food was awful. I ordered oxtails, macaroni and cheese, and greens. The cornbread was dry and bitter. The greens tasted burnt and sour. The Mac and cheese was overcooked, mushy, and had no cheese inside, only a small amount on the top, definitely an egg based Mac. The oxtails were mostly fat, the top oxtail was dry and tough. However, the oxtail gravy was great. It wasn't salty, and had good flavor. I've heard wonderful things about Earley's food but my experience wasn't good. Unfortunately, I won't be returning. If you happen to stop by, I suggest ordering the chicken. I didn't try it, but it looked good. read more

I am a huge fan of their breakfast. I am regular when it comes to the grits, eggs and grilled sausage links with butter on the side. My breakfast always tastes fresh and is always served hot, which is a plus for me. By the time I get to my office its the perfect "gobble time" temp. I've tried lunch, but find breakfast to be the most consistent time I come, either entree selection is good, but my preference is breakfast. The BBQ Chicken (one of the Thursday offerings) I was thinking would have bbq sauce on it, it didn't but that's okay. Literally they meant bbq like cooked on the grill. As soon as I opened my to-go box you could smell it had been fresh off the grill it was so good. I'm a fan just because of this chicken. Even the lady on the elevator coming back to work said it smelt so good! The Red Velvet Cake was decadent, moist, and the creme cheese icing you could tell was homemade. When I first saw the price I was hesitant but it was worth every penny of the 3.25 I spent on it. I would come back just for a slice. The baked beans were great. But unfortunately my favorite food the baked mac and cheese was bland and the cornbread was disgusting. I could see where it might be good with grits but with the rest of the food it tasted dry and a little stale. I will have to try some of their other sides and revisit this review when I go back. When I was about to pay the woman noticed my sorority wristband and asked was I a college student. Thank goodness she asked.. college students get a free drink with their meal show your ID! I'm sold! I loved the greens today, the black eyed peas were tasty and the hoe cake (fried cornbread was spot on - but I would have preferred real butter to country crock. The catfish was some of the best I've had. BUT, excuse me! Packets of tarter sauce. Really? It is so simple to make without all those additives. (Think back to Morrison's fish and Homemade tarter sauce - that's what I want!) The cheese grits were great. Nothing needed additional seasoning, which is stupendous! This is a cafeteria and not "fine dining" so I grade a little differently. I left our building's cafeteria to come here. read more

The first thing I notice at Earley's new place (for a LONG time, Earley's was about 1/8 mile south) is how full the parking lot is. Abutting Dog et Al, Earley's does what it can to contain the cars without spilling over. The people love Earley's and it shows before you even walk in. The second thing you notice is that no matter how long the line inside (yes, it's counter service), the people in line are generally looking at the menu board as well as the various meats for them to choose from. Earley's has a pretense-detector affixed to each entrance. While diners can prance in sporting their "foodie regalia", it is strongly encouraged to simply relax and return to "I'm just people" roots in order to best appreciate the experience, if not just the meal. Earley's is where you come for what is presented as "Savannah Style" cooking. Breakfast offers a broad range of proteins (from catfish to steak, passing through all the usual suspect meats including house made whole-link sausages), sides and specialties. Lunch specials vary daily - see the board. Even Vegans/vegetarians are welcome (e.g., my wife!) to have veggie plates. I don't talk about decor, but the place is very nicely appointed. The wood slates that are increasingly seen in modern restaurants are there - the long dining table is sharp - the 1/2 barrel lampshades fit perfectly - the old-school pictures of the former Earley's Kitchen on the wall - the bay windows overlooking Interstate Fire Systems across S. Recently went by again. The food is still some of the best in Tally, considering the venue. Great lunch and breakfast for the price!

Such a great spot! My coworkers and I hit up this place during a morning break and I'm so glad they introduced me to it! There's a menu up on the big board, with food served as if you're in a cafeteria. It's seriously like having breakfast at home. Nothing overly complicated; cheap; and delicious. The area nearby seems a little run down, but if you can ignore all that this is a great place to visit. There are plenty of tables here, so definitely good for groups. And the women here kind of remind me of family. I'm actually already planning to try staying at a hotel closer to this place just so I can grab breakfast here every morning. (lol.) read more

I went based on the reviews & unfortunately was not satisfied. The food overall lacked a lot of flavor and was bland. The mac & cheese really just tasted like noodles, no cheese inside. This place was a real Jem! I went for my first time on Sunday and it was great! I hate going to southern/soul-food places and they really can't cook. The seasoning is off u know? I was quite surprised that not only did the food look good but it tasted delicious... i instantly teleported to my moms kitchen (minus the heat). I didn't see any ox tail but maybe they'll have some next time i'm missing home. I will definitely be back even if it's just to get some mac-n-cheese. You will never be disappointed dining at Earley's! I've been eating here since it was located maybe a block or so up the street. Now with more room to dine, that is an added plus. I can eat breakfast any time of day and really enjoy it here. One of the best things though are the selection of fresh vegetables.
