I always enjoy the brunch here. The omelettes are my favorite and do not need additonal seasoning on them unlike some other places. Our server was attentive and always came by to check on us. The ambiance and vibe is contemprary and modern, both indoors and out. The patio area is really inviting with fresh plants everywhere and they offer blankets when it's chilly. Part of Somo Walls, it is a nice addition to the Southside, close to Cascades Park. Make sure to check out the dessert menu. The pastry chef does an excellent job at creating beautiful and tasty creations.

I visited The Monroe last month with my husband. I really wanted to love this place. The ambiance was incredible, beautifully decorated inside especially since it was during the holiday season. The appetizer salmon bites were delicious, seasoned well and flaky. For drinks I had the gimlet and my husband had an old fashion both of which were made well. The entrees missed the mark for us. I had the short rib with white rice and bok choy. The short rib was the only thing on my plate that was delicious, seasoned well and a sweet and tangy flavor, the rice was bland, and the bok choy was a bit hard. My husband said his wagyu pasta was just okay. For the price point I expected the entrees to be great. I could see this spot being more of a happy hour spot since the appetizer and drinks were good! The service was great though!

I'm reluctantly giving this restaurant four stars. I went back for brunch with a friend. We split the strawberry salad, which I enjoyed and I ordered the steak flatbread which was good , but not great. My friend ordered the blueberry toast which was disappointing because the bread was not toasted well and it was just a weird texture. She wound up getting the yogurt bowl. The blackberry sangria was bitter from the orange rind(?). I really wanna like this place because the restaurant is really cute and it looks like a good hangout spot. My friend loved her drink and the service was excellent, but ambience is not enough.

Very disappointing experience. Visited this establishment on Saturday, 3/14 with a party of four. We arrived around 12:10 PM, were seated, and ordered a bread basket for the table. Around 12:30 PM we placed our drink and entrée orders. For the next 45 minutes we waited with no communication from our server about the status of our food. Meanwhile, several larger parties on the patio who were seated after us began receiving their meals. During this time, our waiter never returned to check on us, refill water, or provide any update. Around 1:13 PM, after still receiving no food or communication, we asked our waiter where our order was and mentioned that we had been waiting a long time while other tables were being served. I then got up to find a manager to discuss the situation. When I approached the individual who was "acting as the manager" and asked if he was the manager, his response was "Depends on the question." This was an immediate red flag and not an appropriate way to respond to a customer concern. He came to our table and confirmed our order, stating that the ticket showed the food had been put in at 1:13 PM, which was inaccurate considering we ordered around 12:30 PM. We explained that we had already been waiting roughly 45 minutes, but instead of addressing the experience or the lack of communication, the focus seemed to be only on getting the food out. Our food finally arrived around 1:28 PM. After finishing our meal, the check was presented with no acknowledgment, apology, or adjustment for the delay or poor service experience. When we asked the manager if any adjustment would be made due to the situation, he again referenced the ticket saying the food was brought out within 20 minutes, which did not reflect what actually happened. I explained that this response felt like deflection and dismissal of our experience rather than accountability. He offered a credit for a future visit, which we declined since we were visiting from out of town and would not be returning. As he walked away, he returned sarcastically asking, "Did you put those reviews in yet?" He later claimed the waiter told him additional information and then offered 25% off the check, but by that point the lack of professionalism and empathy had already defined the experience. This situation was handled poorly from start to finish. The delay was frustrating, but the lack of communication, accountability, and professionalism from management made it far worse. Unfortunately, this experience alone is enough to deter me from ever returning or recommending this establishment.

Enjoyed brunch here with a friend for the first time and started off with the build your own mimosa, loved this. I had the croissant monkey bread -SO YUMMY- the espresso cream cheese icing was tasty and I am not a coffee fan. For my meal I had the chicken and Waffles and added the heirloom grits. Since I only got a single portion of the chicken and Waffles there is an upcharge for the honey butter, spicy hot honey, whipped mascarpone. Get it, you will not regret it. I really appreciated the ambiance, you can tell they want their guests to have a great expereince, from the decor to the layout of the restaurant well done. Our waitress was so sweet, absolutely adding this restaurant into my rotation.

It's not every day that you find a restaurant that nails the trifecta of outstanding food, vibrant atmosphere, and genuinely hospitable service, but The Monroe in Tallahassee delivers on all fronts. With a recently updated menu that feels both fresh and thoughtfully curated, this local gem has officially earned its spot on my go-to list. On a recent visit with a friend, we decided to embrace the spirit of indulgence and shared three entrées. First up, and the undisputed highlight of the night: the American Wagyu Ragu. I can't say enough about this dish. The richness of the Wagyu paired with perfectly al dente noodles was simply divine. The depth of flavor in the sauce was creamy, savory, and deeply satisfying, the kind of culinary moment that makes you stop mid-bite. We only ordered the half bowl, and it was still a generous portion that left us wondering how large the full might be. (Challenge accepted next time.) Our second favorite was the Steak Frites, and I'll be dreaming about those truffle curly fries for a while. Not your average fry, these were crispy, wildly flavorful, and seasoned with a balance that only comes from a confident kitchen. The steak itself was cooked exactly to temp (medium rare, if you're wondering), juicy and tender with a beautiful sear. I definitely recommend. Rounding out our trio was the Japanese Short Rib, which in any other meal might have stolen the show. Braised to perfection, the meat was fork-tender and the sauce was unlike anything I've tasted before. It was savory, slightly sweet, and full of complexity, with a depth that hinted at something smoky and rich. And the portion? Let's just say you won't be leaving hungry. Portions across the board were generous, especially considering the quality and presentation. For the price point, The Monroe hits a sweet spot that's hard to come bye, elevated and affordable. Now, let's talk drinks. Their happy hour menu is robust and inviting. I started with the Strawberry Mule, a refreshing twist on a classic that was bright, not too sweet, and had the perfect ginger kick. Later in the evening, we tried the Emerald Fizz, and it was the true sleeper hit. Herbal, citrusy, and impossibly smooth, it's a cocktail that feels signature, like something you'd expect from a top-tier bar in a much larger city. And finally, the service. The Monroe is staffed by people who clearly love what they do. From the moment we walked in, we felt welcomed and taken care of. The energy was upbeat but still a chill vibe, and the staff was knowledgeable without being pushy. Special shoutout to the bartenders. If you're lucky enough to grab a seat at the bar, you're in for great conversation and even better drinks.

The restaurant has a great ambiance! Everything consumed at our table was great. It's a great date location or business meal. There were eight of us at our table. It's a more expensive restaurant in town, but you get what you pay for- and the some. Excellent quality. This is the type of restaurant that needs to be nationally ranked. I went on a Tuesday night and reservations were required for indoor dining-it was full inside. There were plenty of people at the bar and there is also outdoor dining. We had the BANG BANG SALMON BITES, BREAD SERVICE; and GAMBAS AL AJILLO as starters/appetizers. The salmon bites were very good and original. I think most will enjoy the gambas (shrimp in garlic) at the Monroe, but I'm partial to the Spanish traditional style which is very heavy garlic. My table had the following dishes: SOUS VIDE LAMB CHOPS; JAPANESE SHORT RIB; STEAK DIANE (8oz and the ribeye (larger portion); BLACKENED SNAPPER; and my entree, AMERICAN WAGYU RAGU. I tried the steak (ribeye) and it was very good: medium rare. The 8oz steak at the table was cooked medium and although the person enjoyed it- you need to be clear you want to have the steak medium rare, it makes a huge difference. Lastly, my American Wagyu RAGU was great and very original. It's a comfort meal. I needed to add Parmesan, but it was meat heavy - which I loved. The dessert menu is ridiculous. Someone had the ice cream trio & . I had the Monroe Wonderball, see video and/or picture. It speaks for itself.

Nice ambiance here! Excellent service! Nice outside seating area when the weather is nice. Free valet if no parking available. All our food and cocktails were excellent! Some of our party had been here before and loved it so much that they brought us. The only culinary disappointment was the fact that they didn't have the coconut cake for dessert so we got the apple cake which was a gorgeous presentation, but had little flavor, so skip that one. Will be back!

Our food took forever and everyone around us was already eating. Imagine waiting that long and the food is mid. Granted they were short staffed so I won't blame our waiter idk. Best part about the restaurant is the ambiance, it's really nice and superior interior design. They also could use menu adjustments. Not worth the money.

This was our first time here and we stopped by for brunch, the place was set up nicely it had an indoor and outdoor seating area which both were nice. The waiter was nice but seemed a little overwhelmed, there was few times we had to ask other for sweetener, butter and salt & pepper. All the items we ordered tasted very good except for a side of toast we ordered and was charge $2.00 for just one slice of bread ( WOW ).

    Cheers!

The Monroe is easily one of my new favorite spots in Tallahassee. The ambiance is warm and modern with a laid-back vibe--stylish enough to feel special, but still comfortable and welcoming. The service was excellent; the staff was attentive and friendly without hovering, which made the whole experience smooth and enjoyable. Now the food... the steak frites were hands-down the best I've ever had. The steak was perfectly cooked, tender, and packed with flavor, while the fries were crisp and seasoned to perfection. It's the kind of dish that makes you stop mid-bite just to appreciate how good it is. Pair that with the cozy setting and great service, and The Monroe is a must-visit in Tallahassee.

We wanted to explore various toed of gin and they poured us a flight of different brands. But more than that, they poured it for us straight up and with tonic so we could try then both ways. Then, since they are part of and connected to the liquor store, we could go next door and buy the gins we liked. Pretty cool and very convenient.

Though you cannot enjoy a cigar inside they have a nice covered area outside the lounge. Spirit availability was impressive for the size lounge. I was interested in Redbreast Irish Whiskey and they had 12, 15, and wow 21!!! The lounge inside was what I consider small, bar seating, and some table and comfortable chairs. The outside area was covered. Comfortable chairs with tables and ashtrays to handle about 25+/-. Two TV's. There are standing fans and heaters. There was no service to the outside area, so you picked-up your choice of spirit and got comfortable outside. We enjoyed our spirit and cigars with no one complaining about the smoke. It happened to be a very rainy night and the north area was a bit flooded, but no leaks from above. Pro Great selection of spirits. Cigar and I think cigarettes, evidence by butts in the ashtrays, are allowed outside. The inside lounge was very clean, as well as the two unisex bathrooms. Con The flooded area was unfortunate, but there was only three of us, and it didn't cause an issue. The Ashtrays had been mostly emptied, but not wiped down. Really not inviting to rest your cigar on a dirty ashtray. An easy wipe with a microfiber goes a long way. Not really a Con, but there was no Service outside on the Tuesday night we visited. Overall a nice experience for a dreary night. My friends and I will return, hopefully on a nicer evening. Note: If you don't bring your own cigar, the liquor store has a small selection available right next door.

Food was absolutely delicious. Hubby and I ordered a few appetizers as well as the chefs tasting menu and it did not disappoint. The appetizers we chose were the charred octopus and the fire roasted oysters. Both were wonderful but the octopus was a standout. For the tasting menu, it changes daily and is 4 courses with a dessert course to round out the meal. Ours happened to include: Sausage w olive tapenade, Filet w tomato and veggie chow chow (so tasty), Duck tostada w avocado crema, Elk filet w hasselback potatoes and asparagus (show stopper), and Orange rice pudding w pistachio cookie crumble which was such a nice, light way to end the meal. One thing to note: they automatically add 18% gratuity to your bill which is split between all front of house and back of house staff. Anything you leave above this will go directly to your waiter. There is a card they leave when they drop off the bill that explains this more eloquently than I am but I found it to be unique that they openly discuss it instead of adding it to the bill with no notice or explanation.

**Review: Solid Steak Dinner at The Edison**…read more I had a pleasant dinner at The Edison recently and walked away satisfied, especially with the food. Service was just okay--nothing terrible, but the appetizers definitely took longer than expected to come out. That said, our server was genuinely good: friendly, knowledgeable, and checked on us at the right moments without being overbearing. The appetizers were worth the wait. Both the fried green tomatoes and the crab appetizer were excellent--fresh, flavorful, and nicely executed. For the main course, the steak was spot-on: tender, well-seasoned, and cooked exactly as ordered. The potatoes that came with it were also really good--creamy and tasty without being heavy. We ended the meal with the bread pudding, and it was one of the best parts of the night. It was done perfectly: warm, moist, and full of rich, comforting flavor that didn't feel overly sweet. All in all, The Edison delivers on the food front. If you're after a reliable steak with some standout starters and a strong dessert, it's a solid choice. Ambiance was good, love the historic building. I'll definitely be back for the steak and bread pudding. Recommended!
