Run by two ladies who were very pleasant and efficient. We both had the Chicken salad - mine a sandwich with sweet potato fries, hers a wrap without the wrap and fries. We were needing a quick lunch and found this place. Service was very friendly. Old school charm. The owner has pictures of all the Hollywood stars with her. We ordered the twice blackened chicken wrap and 2 sided. Potato salad and fries. The order got messed up and took forever. My wife and I stopped here on a trip up from Tampa to New Orleans, and were incredibly underwhelmed. The ambience leaves much to be desired with the exception of some good tunes playing on the stereo. The booth we sat in was beyond disrepair, and had me feeling uncomfortable right from the start. Nothing says "enjoy your breakfast" like seat cushions with 90% of the covering torn off... I ordered the chicken fried steak with scrambled eggs, and my wife ordered the french toast. The french toast was decent, but I can seriously make better toast at home in my sleep. The chicken fried steak was about as fresh as a hockey puck covered in room temperature gravy. My scrambled eggs had a very poor presentation, looking like they were kicked out of the pan they were being cooked in, and then held in a chokehold before being plated. Overall flavor and satisfaction from our food? 3.8 out of 10. I was expecting a nice and comfy country-style breakfast in a quaint and pleasant town. Instead, we felt like outsiders in Ma and Pa Kettle's hayseed hoedown homestead. Lots of rude older folks walking by in pre-diabetes fructose corn syrup dazes giving us those "yerr not frum here, are ya??" vibes. Just a side note. We waited an extra five minutes for "fresh coffee" to finish brewing, which was five minutes of my life that I'll never get back. Worst coffee I've ever had, hands down. I feel this establishment exists merely for the fact it is one of the only places to eat in this podunk town. Definitely a hard pass, and will be going around Monticello next time we're even vaguely passing near. read more

This was our first trip to Monticello and we can honestly say that Jackie's was a highlight of our trip. From the second we walked in the door, we felt like we were home. From Jackie's infectious smile and energy, her sweet staff, and the "regulars" who made us feel like family, to the super fun karaoke Friday night to the yummy breakfast Sunday morning everything was PERFECT. The fish sandwich was one hands down of the best we've ever had. And then caprese salad was fresh and the balsamic glaze was delicious. For brunch, our omelets were stuffed with delicious veggies. And you can't go wrong with the funnel cakes and fresh from the oven chocolate croissants. We cannot wait to visit again! read more

We found this place on Yelp on our way to Destin. It's about 15 min off the highway but worth it. It was packed but we snagged the last two seats. Only a few ladies hustling but they were all very friendly. Food was good, all homemade. No chain crap here. I had an omelet that came with toast and potatoes. Traveling through Florida on I-10 to discover this hidden gem! The atmosphere was upbeat and contagious! Jackie floated around taking care of everyone and ensure all were satisfied. She even apologized when she remembered she forgot I asked for more hot water for my tea but one of her staff had already accomplished the task prior. (It's tough getting an apology for a legitimate situation but she was honest and real for something so simple, and no excuses. She didn't blame it on busyness or other. This is a special quality!!) Jackie told us they do Karaoke on Friday nights only and there were believers and unbelievers making a difference in the name of Christ. She has quite the ministry as well as fabulous restaurant with delicious food!! We would love to stop back by but so far from where we are staying in Florida. I come to Monticello to go to the Farmer's Market for my veggies, and Johnston's for my meats. I make it a point to drop in here for breakfast and sometimes lunch. The breakfasts are great, the service is more than friendly and the customers are colorful ranging from locals to tourists. The omelettes are always good and the grits seasoned properly. Today, I had a Philly cheesesteak omelette without peppers. They were accommodating of my request. The sweet iced tea is southern sweet! I will continue to come back here. read more

We stayed overnight just outside Monticello at a Harvest Host with plans in the morning to head downtown to see what was available. The first place I saw on the list was the Brick House Eatery. We made a quick dash in the morning for breakfast. Let me say, we were not disappointed. We were greeted with a hello and smiles from the moment we sat down. I ordered the chicken fried steak with a side of toast and hash browns and my wife ordered a collection of sides off the menu. The food was fantastic! The atmosphere in this small place takes you back to a more innocent time where locals met for breakfast everyday and everyone knows your name. Have eaten there a lot , really miss how good the food used to be also seems to be a lot more empty now at days. Also I think the price has gone up substantially because I paid the same price for a prime rib as I would've paid at Teds Buffalo grill in Tallahassee! For one Prime rib that came with a potato and side salad +1 beer and one cob salad and a drink + the mozzarella app it was close to $60/$70 not to mention the chicken on the cob salad was burnt and both the side salad and the cob salad consisted of brown lettuce and an entire platter of it is it really a salad when it's almost ALL lettuce. Had them redo the burnt chicken and still got back burnt chicken! But on a plus note the ranch dressing is really good!! read more

Needed to find a place by I-10 and 19 to eat and to meet up with family on drive to Gulf Shores. Found this place in Yelp and decided to try it based on recent reviews. A good call on my part. I walked in and told them we were a party of 12. The owner jumped up and said it was not a problem and put us at a perfectly large table in the back room (the main dining area is quaint). They were accommodating, patient and amazingly friendly. Food was good and fairly priced. I'd say worth the stop to experience true hospitality. read more

Cheap ingredients, scant amounts of food, burnt buns. I could have prepared a better meal at home with my eyes closed. My BLT was tiny, on two slices of grocery store wheat bread. There was the equivalent of MAYBE two slices of bacon on it. FOR $6.99. Ok it come with a side but still. About the burnt buns - how can they in good conscience serve a burnt piece of bread for a sandwich? It was a grilled chicken sandwich and the piece of chicken was tiny, thin, dry and even though it wasn't burnt, it tasted burnt, as if the grill itself was coated with burner food remnants perhaps? We rode into town around 9 a.m. I had the breakfast burrito (comes with hash browns) for $4.75. My husband had the more substantial 2 eggs, sausage, raisin toast, hash browns for $6.85. Coffee was fresh, and the waitress won't let you run out. Service was pleasant and efficient. I don't often give five stars, especially on a first visit.
