My husband and I went for our anniversary and loved the Daffodale House! This B&B is exquisite, and it was the most relaxing time away that we've had in a long time. Each morning, Cathy greets everyone with a smile, a good morning and a nice breakfast served in their cozy dining room. Coffee is fantastic if you are a coffee drinker! Scottie tells you tails and stories and keeps everyone smiling. He joined us multiple times out on the grand front porch while we enjoyed a glass of wine and rocking chairs (and they do sell wine by the glass or the bottle at dinner). The bedroom was extremely comfortable and filled with loads of great stuff to look at, plenty of room to sit and take a break. The bed was fantastic, lots of pillows and the bathroom was full of soft fluffy towels. Unlike some Inns we have stayed at before, where you have to pay for a bottle of water, just outside the room is a coffee and water bar! Close by, within walking distance if you are a good walker are tons of shops, the opera house and places to eat, although we decided each night to eat at the B&B instead. Cathy is an incredible chef (we also bought her cookbook) and if you stay there, you have to try her prime rib! You will not be sorry! We also traveled to the local winery and brought some bottles home, all organic. Did I say that this was the most relaxing time away that we have had? We grew to love these guys while there and plan to travel back again. Highly recommend!!!

This beautiful Victorian house in Monticello also has gorgeous grounds with unique plants and trees. It is filled with interesting items, and there are several quaint and comfortable guest rooms, Each decorated uniquely and with attention to detail and many beautiful stained glass lamps. There is also a western-themed guest house. The owners are friendly and will make breakfast, lunch, or dinner upon request. They also do birthday parties, teas, etc.

We stayed here to go to the FSU game and it was amazing! The owners of the house were amazing and so was our experience. The food was excellent and the home had such unique artifacts! Overall, we will be making this a yearly tradition to come here!

The Daffodale House was the original name of this Victorian beauty built in 1897. The first owner is said to have been a rich banker and politician who had wanted a house befitting his position in the community. Later on, the house has been embellished by the owners that followed. Since 2006, the current owners, the Ebberbachs, have re-created a painted lady B & B offering three themed rooms. The nostalgia filled B&B is also comprised of a small entry music room, an antique store, the grand dining hall, the library and Victorian Tea room and is set on 3 acres of gorgeous grounds

What a wonderful experience! We purchased the tour and dinner from Groupon, and it was definitely worth it! The hosts were entertaining, welcoming and the food was probably one of the best meals I've had in a while. It was just myself and my fiancé on the tour, which made it personable and gave us time to talk to Scotty and Kathy. Dinner consisted of fresh warm bread, salad with her homemade dressing, pork chops (didn't even need a knife to cut), mashed potatoes and corn on the cob. Dessert was red velvet cake and we purchased a bottle of wine. Lots of unique items in the house, and fun stories to add to it! Will come back for brunch/breakfast

To put it simply, the Daffodale House is one eclectic place. Run as a bed & breakfast / supper club, you can make a reservation to stay for a weekend or to pop in for an evening meal. In addition, they offer a high tea event upon request, if you are looking to spend a weekend afternoon in Monticello. The food is good, but definitely made as a home-cooked meal, so don't expect the quality of a professional chef. So far, everything seems normal. Yet, after you meet the owners and wander around the house, you'll understand why I call the place eclectic. I stopped in for a ghost tour event, complete with a meal, tour of the grounds, and ghost stories told by the owner. The husband and wife pair of owners are certainly friendly, but have odd taste, since they take part in bartering and any available space seems to be filled with the most random collection of items. This also transfers over into the choice of décor in all the bedrooms and around the grounds, which are difficult to explain and which you really need to see for yourself. Essentially, it looks like the kind of business that the American Pickers would start. Once we sat down for ghost stories, we were treated to stories about the presumed haunting of the site and various tales of sightings that visitors have experienced, as well as the owners' belief in all manner of the extraordinary such as UFOs and conversations with the dead. You really can't help but feel skeptical. Overall, prepare yourself for an enjoyable, but odd, evening if you choose to visit the Daffodale House.

We purchased a Groupon intrigued by the opportunity to try something different with friends. The property is located just west of downtown Monticello on US 90. Nestled beneath an old growth canopy draped with Spanish moss and surrounded by a variety of camellias, sits an old Victorian-style home (1897) that is sure to capture your imagination. We didn't stay at the bed and breakfast, but still enjoyed a delightful bite to eat, some refreshing peach tea, wonderful hospitality and best of all, stories. The owners, Scotty and Cathy, live in the home. Scotty was a wonderful host and provided an overview of the home's past, detailed accounts of odd occurrences and pictures of unexplained aberrations. Scotty is a collector and has many of his prized items on display throughout the home. Scotty and Cathy have done a great job preserving the home, its legacy and the charm that is Monticello, FL. In summary, I am glad we went and plan to visit again.

I've seen posts on social media about Hilltop but since we don't live in the vicinity it took us a while to make it over there. We've been missing out on one of the best hidden gems in the area. You are greeted by smiles from the owners upon entry. The store has several coolers and shelves of various snacks and beverages. They also offer deli items. But the BEST part of a visit to Hilltop is freshly made savory southern staples prepared to order. The menu is vast, as are their portions!! We had heard rave reviews about their Shrimp Po Boy and the Fried Green Tomatoes. We ordered those as well as a Chicken Philly Sandwich. Hand to God, the fried green tomatoes were the best I've ever had. Even my husband who's indifferent to a FGT declared them the best and worthy of a trip back out to eat them again. That was high praise from a typical carnivore. The Po Boy was massive. I couldn't eat more than half. The "side" of FGT was enough for a meal. The chicken a Philly meat was minced so finely that every bite was a perfect blend of meat, cheese, and bread. While not a typical "restaurant", there is a charming covered outdoor patio with several picnic tables at which to dine, and kids toys to keep the young ones busy while you eat. Honestly, the only thing missing is a big fat recliner to take a nap in after you hit your carb coma. We were too full for a dessert, but the cake selection was beautiful and offered by the slice. The family owned ambiance is evident by the number of "regulars" that popped in while we were there. In a time where people are rushed and non conversational, Hilltop is like walking back in time to visit an old friend. It's 100% worth a drive out to Hilltop. Whether you eat in, or take your order to go, you'll definitely be eating good!
