Let's go back to early August, and that Friday night at the Warhorse... it was busy, noisy and the food, and drink was everything good! I was in Tallahassee to celebrate my wonderful stepdaughter's graduation from film school. She picked the spot and we were there for it. There is an adjoining pizza kitchen, which serves up awesomeness. My stepdaughter had ordered some kind of buttered rolls, which were good for soaking up alcohol, but we were hungry and ordered the spicy buffalo chicken pizza. It was delicious! I am not afraid of spice at all, but it was too much for everyone else. Aside from the spice, the ingredients were all quite well prepared. The crust was light and not at all like a New York pizza crust, but I wasn't home and it was still delicious. **side note- I have this really tasty cocktail but I can't remember what it was because I had several and they were really tasty. Came in on a Thursday afternoon (06/09/22 around 4:15 PM) for a beer and a whiskey. There were one or two patrons sitting around minding their own business. I sat at the bar and I was quick to order a beer and then the lady behind the bar, as curt as could be, insisted that I whip out a credit card. When I told her I was gonna order a whiskey as well and then pay, she demanded payment for the beer. It wasn't within five seconds of ordering the beer. I left in disgust and I made it known how I felt about her. She needs to find another line of work. Quite possibly the worst, most unfriendly bartender I've encountered in 53 years. I wonder how many people don't walk into this place because of her. I'm also curious as to who has spent their good money to open this place up only to have a rude bartender run customers out the way she did today. Dear owner, please contact me if you want details. Amazing bourbon selection! Really an amazing Whiskey selection overall, everything from Scotch to Bourbon to Japanese whiskey. They have some of the harder to find whiskeys at a reasonable price. You can also get a flight of whiskey if you want to try a few new ones. It's hooked to Gaines Street so you can order food while you drink. Tonight, I brought my culinary companion, as I had such a great experience my first foray into Warhorse and wanted to share the buzz. Unknown to us, it was trivia night and it was nearly packed. We waded past the crowd and dipped through the portal to Gaines St. pies Ok, bar here, too. We slid up. Presently, barkeep yells, "you drink in' beer?" No, the reply. "Well, our notebook Is missing and I can't wring up beer." Cocktails, says I. " Oh, we have really limited drinks here" she says and walks away...as I look at a great array of liquors placed at the bar back. I'm slow on the uptake, or just hungry and parched, but she is backhandedly kicking us out of her bar, while two other patron boys vie for her attention (with drinks in hand). I gather my companion and reflect that in 8 years, I have never awarded a one star. Maybe now. We slid back to Warhorse and up to the bar as the crowd noise created a drone of sound. Immediately we were serviced with cocktail menus and encouraged by delft mixers. Aaaahhh! We will allow ourselves this chance to float on the din of hipsters preparing their trivia entries. Our cocktails were expertly created with all site made sours, mixes and infusions. This, friends is as real a cocktail bar as you can find here. We loved the show as the mixologists so expertly crafted drinks, I briefly considered leaving my car and catching a cab so I could taste one more. No worries, I only tried two; with pie. Oh, the pie! Now that was a creation! White album. Thin crust, ricotta, moz, fresh chopped basil, fresh tomatoes and a drizzle of truffle oil. This ain't the corner pep slice, y'all!! Overall, Warhorse stands out amongst the cocktail bars in Tally and makes you want to come back time and time again. I came in during one of their Back to the Garage concerts (more as an excuse to finally try this place out than anything else). Man, does Warhorse have a cool vibe. I got a neat glass of whiskey, although I hear the cocktails are better and with the ingredients made in-house. The prices aren't bad by any means, but it definitely is not a super cheap dive bar. The crowd is fun and goofy, and the there actually was decent among of space for the band. The staff had a hard time keeping up with the large crowd on a Tuesday, but they would eventually get to everyone. I will definitely be coming back on a quieter night to update, but I loved my first visit to Warhorse! read more

Great customer service! Came here after the FSU-UF game for a celebration drink (Go 'Noles)...I ordered a mint julip that looked AMAZING! We walked outside to get a table, couldn't wait to take a sip of the drink. I took one sip and then accidently spilled drink all over table, I was devastated!!!! A minute later a man walked up and said "Did you just spill your mint julip? I'm the manager and will be happy to get you another one" Needless to say he rushed in and brought out a fresh mint julip. Sigh... I really wish there was an establishment like this in my backyard... a comic book-themed, unpretentious whiskey bar that serves quality cocktails. Other than Proof Brewing, this was the most happening spot my wife and I found while touring downtown Tallahassee, so we couldn't resist trying it out. We sat at one of the tables and were served promptly. I ordered a Kentucky Buck and wifey had The Equestrian. Both drinks were delicious and well-priced ($14 total for both). Loved the menu design too. We were ravenous so the server recommended a pizza from their neighbor, Gaines Street Pies. I'm glad we had one. We shared the "Animal" (meat-heavy) and it was juicy. The price, however, was a bit steep ($19 for a 14-incher). All in all, we would definitely return during our next visit to Tally. read more

Warhorse is a favorite bar of mine in town. I will admit that I am not the biggest fan of Whiskey, however they have changed my taste buds for the good. I really enjoy their unique drink options, from liquor to beer, they have it all. My favorite drink would the Florida Mule or the Mint Julep. Each drink is handcrafted by the experienced bar tenders and you can tell they really take pride in making great drinks for the customers. My favorite part about Warhorse is that Gaines Street Pies is next door and I can order pizza straight from the bar. Some drinks are a little pricey, but it's worth every penny! read more

I like the vibe in Warhorse. It is next door to Gaine Street Pies and they were connected. Many customers of the pie shop eat in Warhorse. Mixology here is not consistent enough for me to warrant coming back for spectacular drinks or vouching for their talents. My friend and I ordered the same drink and his came with a lime and mine did not cus they were made by two different people. Then we tasted them ... Again tastes different. My boyfriend ordered an old fashion , his go to drink, and it was yucky. She added too much bitters and not sweet enough. To top it off, she made a bad drink to match her standoffish hipster vibe. As a frequent customer of Gaines street pies I gave warhorse a try. I was immediately disappointed. Not only was I treated with disrespect and arrogance but I was asked to show 3 forms of Identification. Also there was a group of 4 girls next to my table, 3 of them looked 15-20 and the latter one was literally 3-5 years old. 1/10 recommendation for this establishment. I believe Gaines St. Pies should buy this "half-a**" business out and expand to an independent bar. read more

As a grad student, it is tough to find a comfy bar with delicious drinks and minimal underage brats in the vicinity of FSU. Warhorse, conveniently connected to GSP, offers a beautiful array of whiskey drinks and lots of other interesting signature cocktails. The tequila gimlets come in sweet and savory options- try both! They keep the drink menu rotating and there are plenty of beers to try as well. Their happy hour menu is a welcome deviation from all the sugary syrupy nonsense most College Town bars offer. After a hot day walking around campus, I like the Florida Rickey with vodka and plenty of lime. Trivia is played here if that's your schtick. One of my favorite things about this spot is that they make all their shrubs and garnishes in house. I appreciate subtle touches like that. Come through, enjoy some bourbon, and order a pizza when you get too drunk. read more

Warhorse is one of my favorite bars in Tallahassee. I'm biased, because it's connected to Gaines Street Pies, my favorite pizza in Tallahassee. So basically you can grab a drink (or 3) at the bar and also order pizza at that same bar! You can order Gaines Street Pizza right from the Warhorse bar, or you can just walk over since there isn't a wall separating the two. I love their mule cups (the rose gold ones) and I like that it adds to the comic book feel of Gaines Street Pies. The walls and furniture all add to the comic book feel, as do the menus. It's also walking distance from Grasslands Brewery, the Brass Tap, and the many bar/food options Collegetown and Gaines Street have to offer. There's parking in front of Gaines Street Pies, street meter parking, and parking by Grasslands. My favorite drinks are usually the mule's paired with pizza. Whenever they have trivia or live music it gets pretty loud so if I'm with a group I usually bounce over the the Gaines St Pizza side. read more

My husband and I stopped here for a drink and the drink was fine but the service was terrible. They had a good amount of whisky cocktails, nothing terribly exciting but the Sazerac I got was decent. The bartender who was working probably said 3 words to us the entire 40 minutes we were there. She walked past us a ton and never made eye contact once, she didn't check up on us, or attempt to be pleasant. There was no "thank you" when we tipped her as we were wrapping up or any goodbye when we left, I've never seen manners lacking so severely. It was actually kind of hilarious. read more
