I was in Tallahassee to celebrate my wonderful stepdaughter's graduation from film school. She picked the spot and we were there for it. There is an adjoining pizza kitchen, which serves up awesomeness. My stepdaughter had ordered some kind of buttered rolls, which were good for soaking up alcohol, but we were hungry and ordered the spicy buffalo chicken pizza. It was delicious! I am not afraid of spice at all, but it was too much for everyone else. Aside from the spice, the ingredients were all quite well prepared. The crust was light and not at all like a New York pizza crust, but I wasn't home and it was still delicious. **side note- I have this really tasty cocktail but I can't remember what it was because I had several and they were really tasty. As I looked out the window while gathering my belongings at the end of class, I discovered The Bar at Betton. I noticed nicely dressed individuals looking like they were enjoying some cocktails, wine and brews with their pals. I immediately texted my gfs and told them that we must try it out for our next girls night out. With that said, the following Saturday evening, we did! The parking was easy to handle. As we approached The Bar at Betton, I noticed indoor and outdoor seating areas, high tops, etc. The music was lightly playing in the background while sounds of conservation between friends were heard. A great gathering spot! I liked it so far. We walked in the doors, looked for a spot at the bar to sit (to the left) and was greeted immediately, WaY to GO Bar Staff! We ordered a few drinks - I tried a specialty cocktail named, "Champs-Elyssee" - it was a great ! Then, we talked with the bartender a bit and went about enjoying our girls night out. I snapped a photo of the menu because each dish that was served to other customers looked really good. Moistened my palate and smelt good too! Before leaving, we visited the restrooms which are located outside of the building. I thought that was neat too. Clean and stocked. Always a good thing! Anywho - I am glad I got to try The Bar at Betton out. I will be back and can't wait to try out the food sometime.

Just allowing patrons to stand around and then be told after 10 minutes of waiting at the outside hostess stand to go downstairs, then waiting 20 minutes at a table only to have the hostess come over with napkins and flatware. I left and that was the first time. The second time we sat at the bar, again, staff see us and say nothing. 10 minutes later we get told, "we are not technically not open but you can go downstairs." There were people at the table inside with food and drinks and people at the bar with drinks. Don't waste your time or money on this place.

Review Visit: February 29th, 2012…read more The very first stop on my crazy fun Spring Break in 2012. My friend who lived in Tallahassee loved coming here, so it was only natural that I go along with him when I visited for Spring Break. What a great idea. Now my memory is a little bit fuzzy so bear with me. First off, really fun bar. Second, great staff. Third, there is a wheel you spin each time you buy a drink? If I remember right, you spin the wheel and get a prize with every drink. Now I don't remember what the prizes were, but I do know they had Poor Paul's Bucks which you could spend there. Fourth, I bought a t-shirt from there. It's my 'Fuck' t-shirt. It has about 200 different quotes on it with the work 'fuck' in it. I didn't spend but an hour or so here, but in the time I was there was a blast. I still have a Poor Paul dollar, still have my t-shirt, still have the memory of Jacob dominating in a game of pool. So if you ever find yourself in Tallahassee, this is definitely one bar that you should stop at for some fun and libations.

The place has personality but the residual smoke it hard to get past. I don't think I could tolerate it much if I was in there when folks are smoking. Nothing against smokers (I'm a former smoker) just wish they would smoke outside.

I first went here when I…read morewas fresh out of university and wanted to celebrate the fact that I'd been offered a new job: I was looking for a more conventional experience of sitting down at some fine restaurant or upscale bar with a glass of wine, but then I stumbled into Kavakaze. Being fresh out of university the first thing that struck me was that the atmosphere reminded me a lot of lowkey shindigs I'd been invited to at classmates' apartments where we'd play beer pong (there was a kava pong table set up here at the time), play Cards Against Humanity, or just sit around sipping drinks and watching South Park/Family Guy reruns on the television. The feeling was instantly one of nostalgia. I hadn't tried kava at the time (I'd tried kratom previously at the suggestion of a friend who was trying to seduce me, and, again, the nostalgia trip led me to try it again here) but the kava they served was a treat. Other reviews here address how the atmosphere at Kavakaze has shifted over the years. I could also say that the vibe has since changed, but a lot is really variable depending on the time you go. It was definitely student-oriented (mainly undergrads) when I started going, but since then attracted young professionals (along with a smaller minority of middle-aged and elderly customers) and even at one point served as a venue for a local politician to host a campaign event. That said, it really is variable depending on who's slinging your beverages at the specific time you go here. Some nights here are a bit more chill, some are a bit more of a pseudo-nightclub environment, and if you go on weekend afternoons you can still get the "casual get-together at a friend's place" vibe. I really liked the bartenders here. You could talk about anything and everything with them without being told that you were being inappropriate/needed to shut up, as long as you avoided getting into any kind of heated argument. There was usually something interesting on the TV, like a movie, a stand-up comedy routine, or a music video. I'm also not quite sure who else this might be important to, but if you're an ambivert (that is, not consistently an introvert or an extrovert) then this place is more than suitable both to hang out and meet cool people or just to read and/or study alone (possibly game if you bring a PC). I think if there's one word I could use to describe this place it's a tie between "versatile" and "dynamic". Definitely one of the recommended spots in Tally.

There was somewhat of a strict dress code being enforced that night which didn't allow my cousin to enter due to the fact that her dress was made of a mesh material at the bottom, which is why I deducted a star from this review. After driving home to change and making it back to the club, the entrance fee had increased a whole $10 which was outrageous!!! We went ahead and paid the fee since it was her birthday but $30 per person is a little steep for a hole in the wall type establishment in my opinion. It took forever to get drinks since the place was packed wall to wall with people. Thank god one of the girls I was with knew a guy that pretty much let us squeeze in next to him and a few of his friends at a small table. After about the second drink I began to really feel myself and let loose. The Dj played a great mix of older R&B and Hip Hop hits that had the whole club singing along. I'm not sure if it was the drinks or the fact that I had hardly eaten anything that day but I was overly intoxicated after just two cups. We called it a night after I knocked over someone's plate of chicken wings and became a personal dancer for a random group of guys. Overall I enjoyed my night in the Flite and will most definitely be returning in the near future. Just a tip for the ladies, do not wear anything mesh or see through or you may be denied access into the club. Also try the wings since I've heard such good things about them from everyone who has mentioned this spot to me.

Legislative Session Clyde's is my favorite simply because I work in that world. It is a great place to share gossip and pick up tips that can help save your bill or get you a meeting with an elected. One rare nights you might find an elected official singing karaoke (usually badly) at a questionable level of intoxication. Mid week watering hole Clyde's is when session is out and the locals are in need of gin & tonic. Super chill, price is right and not stuffy. Greek Clyde's typically happens around 10pm when fraternities and sororities have a mixer and crowd the bar.
