It's counter service and there was already a bit of a line when we arrived around 7:15am (why were so many people already up and about?! lol). We loved that they had a great variety of options, including many vegetarian options. I went with the egg & cheese sandwich and accidentally ordered it without the greens & sauce (whoops!). However, it was still delicious and satisfying. My husband got the avocado toast which was SUPER filling due to the hummus that was on it. He was only able to finish half of it. We also got a side order of fruit which, to my delight, was a bowl of berries! The fruit is seasonal so the combination might be different depending on what time of year you are visiting. Also, both of our coffees met our standards, which are a bit high these days. So kudos to them on that! The ambiance was absolutely incredible!!! Very well lit with a bright, welcoming atmosphere. We sat near the back of the restaurant (away from all windows), however we still felt like we were being flooded with sunlight. It was wonderful! Definitely recommend coming here to grab breakfast while visiting Beacon!

The Towne Crier Cafe is the "gem" of the nightclub and restaurant scene in Beacon New York. After hiking up Mount Beacon and then walking all over the town we were looking for a comfortable place to spend the evening and refuel. We walked into the Towne Crier quite parched and sat down at the artfully sculpted bar. The barkeep graciously allowed us to sample every tap beer in order to make sure we got the taste we wanted. He also got us tap waters with lemon. We put in an order to share three different appetizers including the Baba Ghanouj, the Chicken Quesadillas, and the Jumbo Shrimp. They appeared quickly, thank goodness as we were starving, and all three were excellent. After a pleasant hour at the bar chilling to a sophisticated mixture of jazz and New Age music we thought about leaving but as we looked around the restaurant checking out the performance room and a private dining area and some really cool vintage signed photos of bands and solo performers that have played at this club over the years we decided to stay for the show and try the dinner menu. We were seated promptly by a Very attentive young man who took his time explaining the preparation of the entrees and his opinion about which wines would pair best with each. We had the sesame seaweed salad and an arugula salad which were both good paired with a refreshing house Chardonnay. As we were enjoying our salads the place began to fill up with people who had come for the show. We were not familiar with the artists but we're open to try something new. They were Jeff Gaines and Freedy Johnston. The music was excellent and it made us feel like we were back in the days of the dinner clubs that you mostly see in the movies now. For dinner we had the Scottish salmon paired with more of the Chard and the rigatoni Bolognese which we paired with a house Cabernet. The meals were superb and very filling. The musical ambience during the meal was excellent and there was an interesting assortment of locals, hipsters, and tourists to observe and talk to during the breaks. For dessert we had observed a display case full of attractive cakes and pastries. One of the regulars we were chatting with told us that we had to try some of these because the place is famous for its desserts. We shared the Hazelnut Dacquoise and the Grand Marnier Chocolate Cheesecake paired with a regular coffee and a cappuccino. They were amazing and as good as anything we have had in Manhattan. As the evening wore down we felt very satisfied in all respects and loved the fact that we didn't have to deal with the parking and traffic in Manhattan. We will definitely be back! read more

Well I guess you can't leave a review about an establishments policy due to the times. Well it's a choice to dine at places and policy creates the atmosphere of where you dine. The fact that Anyone who chooses this place to spend their money at needs to show their papers is a reason enough not to patronize them. We live in America and can choose who to support and who to not support. I hope that the people that don't spend money at your establishment cause your profit margin to become nonexistent. Word of mouth is the best advertising but sometimes not in a positive light. Shame on you for segregation of the people who in the past spent money in your establishment and supported your efforts to relocate to Beacon. I hope to see the for lease sign on the front window soon. read more

Nice looking place and comfortable. The food however a bit pricey. I had a plate of pasta with rabe and sausage, gluten free. The amount of additional expense for gluten free pasta was extreme. I wanted to skip the sausage but took waitstaff advice. The sausage meat was crumbled and par boiled. I don't even think the oil was olive. Bar tab, not a shocker, its comparable. Music, great venue for talent, cover charge, outrageous! First a cover of 20.00 for local talent is a bit much when most of the talent also performs two blocks away and no cover, no minimum drink minimum..... Basically, this is Beacon (Dutchess County) we stay in this area and not travel to Westchester for entertainment to reduce cost for great entertainment. Why bring Westchester to Dutchess? read more

What a wonderful time I had this past weekend when I went to see Jorma Kaukonen and Barry Mitterhoff at your venue. Your staff was more than gracious, the sound was awesome, the food was great and our waitress Paige was outstanding despite how busy she was with the sold out show, she still had time for a smile and a laugh. So when we finished our tour of the Vanderbilt mansion around lunchtime, we took the winding path to get here in 20 minutes (located about 5 miles Northeast of downtown Poughkeepsie). The interior was newer, and wasn't too crowded. One waitress/bartender was running front of house and was extremely helpful and friendly. It's a townie bar, where everyone seemed to know each other. Restaurants like these depend on the mercy of delivery, and found out after we ordered that two of our choices (Clams Casino and Buffalo Wings) were not available. Instead, my wife got the Fish & Chips ($20), with me getting the recommended Ribeye Melt ($21). Blue moon was on tap, so got that (way overpriced at $9 for 12 oz). The fish dish promised us 3 beer-battered cod loins, and it delivered. Each piece was large and had been expertly deep fried. The fries were thick and crisp, and the same ramekin of cole slaw was perfect. Even though none of it was homemade, for me, it was one of the best fish fries I've had in a while. My recommended Ribeye sandwich was great as well. I really liked the crunchy and solid ciabatta bread, and the meat and cheese was generous, and tender/melty respectively. The fries were good, expertly prepared, not too greasy. This is the kind of diner I like...where the food comes mostly pre-prepared, but it's clear they have a really good food supplier, and are able to keep the food prices down.

I was meeting a few friends there and when I arrived there was a huge crowd of people outside, it looked fun and lively but my friends warned me off the bat it was tough trying to get a drink. From the size of the crowd I wasn't surprised and I've been around enough to know sometimes it be like that. When I went inside however it was far less crowded than I expected, there were even a few tables open and a perfect spot to order at the corner of the bar. So you'll understand my frustration when I was made to wait 25+ minutes for a drink, so long that my girlfriend was worried and came looking for me. Again, the bar itself was not nearly as busy as it should've been for me to wait 25+ minutes to be served. What made it all worse was being forced to watch the bartenders check their phones (as though bored), talk to and record TikToks for their friends, and joke with each other. On top of that was the fact that clearly only the two groups of ten or so people were being repeatedly served who clearly were friends with the bartenders. I looked around me to see several other patrons clearly in the same situation. Then finally after an eternity of being outright ignored one of the staff made eye contact and came over for our order. Here's the real kicker: As soon as I started to order one of the bartenders and a random guy with a camera setup started yelling at to shut the $$$$ up so that they could do the mannequin challenge (10 year old trend btw). My drinks were forgotten about for the time being and I was forced to sit there at the bar counter being recorded or lose my place. Swear to God it was like a humiliation ritual lol. Mind you I played along and was polite the whole time waiting. When I finally got my drinks, shortly after my girlfriend came to check on me, the bartender practically threw the checkbook at us and walked off with a disgruntled attitude. So yeah it didn't help that we had to then wait for somebody to come back and take my card to pay for the actual drinks. So fairly enough I was pissed man, it was clear to me that the bar staff were poorly trained (or just inexperienced), unhygienic, rude, and were there to cater to their friends instead of serve people coming there for the first time as I had. The rest of the night was fine; the DJ was great, and me and my friends had a good time hanging outside until we finished our drinks and left. My friends described a similar though not as grating experience. Pleasant Valley deserves better in my opinion and I would not recommend this bar to anyone with finite patience or time on their hands. The initial experience really almost ruined part of the night for me I can't lie. Do not come here, there are better bars.
