My husband really likes their plain biscuit, but I usually get the sausage, egg, and cheese biscuit sandwich. The sausage and egg are genuinely good; the egg tastes like something I'd scramble at home, not the rubbery pre-made kind. But the biscuit itself is just not for me. It's very buttery, very salty, and pretty small for a $9 sandwich. The real shocker is the gravy. A side of gravy is $6, which already feels high. The first time, it was extremely watery. The second time, they only filled the cup halfway and it was overly salty. For that price, it should be consistent and actually filled. This is a small restaurant in downtown Oakland. We came on a Friday and it was pretty busy with customers seated inside and others waiting for takeout orders. We were taking our food to go. It took around fifteen minutes to get our food. They called our names, but then they left the counter. So, we had to read all of the names on all of the to-go orders to find ours. But it was no big deal. We found our food, and we left. The biscuits were very good, although they were smaller than expected. The chicken was delicious and the bacon and eggs were good. The location of the restaurant is on a narrow street between Telegraph and Broadway so parking is pretty limited. There is also limited seating in the restaurant itself so we decided to place to go orders. We kept it simple, ordering both a sausage and bacon with egg and cheese along with a side of crispy potatoes. The kitchen was a bit backed up so it took about 25 minutes but wow was it worth it ! Price points were super reasonable, about half the price of a majority of other places ! Awesome biscuits! I ordered the biscuits & gravy and my friend ordered the goat cheese & jam biscuit with a side of home fries. This was some of the best biscuits and gravy that I've ever had. Very flavorful and no greasy aftertaste that gravy can sometimes have. Side note, they do not serve espresso drinks here. Only drip coffee. It's a cute little location with minimal seating. I would recommend to get here early, as it was already filling up quickly at 10am on a Friday. The staff were very friendly and attentive. We got a fried chicken biscuit, bacon egg and cheese biscuit sandwich, and a side of biscuits with apple butter, strawberry jam and gravy. The sandwiches weren't huge, could probably eat them in 4-6 bites if you take big bites but my goodness were they tasty! The fried chicken was perfectly seasoned and crispy, and the bacon egg and cheese biscuit was delicious with some great herbs seasoning in the eggs. The side of gravy was deliciously savory, the apple butter with the biscuit tasted like apple pie, and the strawberry jam was sweet and a little tart. I loved the balance of the jam though my husband found it a little sour for his taste. The only downside was the wait time for the biscuits and gravy, which took nearly 50 minutes. Our server didn't initially inform us there would be a delay and continued to estimate "about 10 more minutes," which extended several times before the food finally arrived. OOOPS you might miss it if you drive too fast down the street! Luckily I was driving slow and there were people outside waiting for their orders to be ready. There's no sign on the building so keep your eyes peeled! The establishment is a small space but the environment is warm and welcoming without realizing how small it actually is. The space was already set with a dainty little saucer to hold the flatware. It was a cute added touch! The waiter was prompt and willing to offer suggestions. The food was delicious. The bacon egg and cheese had bacon in every bite! The biscuit did it's thing by holding everything together without falling apart! It was moist and flaky and yes I could of had another one! The consistency of the grits were pretty much perfect! No problem there. My two "complaints" are the cheese looked and had the texture of that cheese that's wrapped in the plastic film that will break apart if you don't unwrap it correctly. Also, if the water for the grits had of been salted just a little bit more the flavor of the grits would of been 10/10. Overall, this place is a must for you to try. Service is friendly, however service seem a little slow at times, with many orders coming in at once. Orders don't come out, as they are put in. Had an amazing experience checking out town biscuits. As soon as I walked in the staff were very friendly and got me seated right away. They started me off with some sweet tea (because I'm not a coffee guy ) and that tea was hella good. I ordered the biscuits and gravy with sausage and it came out super fast. The biscuits were fluffy and the texture was absolutely perfect ( Ramsey voice ). They were not shy with the gravy, and the gravy was loaded with sausage which I loved because most places skimp. First of all, I drove by it several times thinking the entire area was industrial, then I had to get out and search out the door. I found it! The potatoes were awful, someone scooped a tablespoon of potatoes into a bag and over salted them. I couldn't eat them. It ruined my palate for the biscuits to be honest. The biscuit was not what I expected, not bad, but not the cut out buttermilk biscuits of my youth. These were sort of crispy on the edges, but tasty. The gravy was good, bits of sausage in it.
