I wrote them an email asking for an estimate with detailed information of the frame I want and all I got was one liner response back that basically I need to come in to get the answer. They could've at least given me the pricing on the frame. Why bother listing email address if you only want to deal with the customers in person? Needless to say I made an appointment with another provider in Dublin. read more

I've been a customer here for a few years, but i couldn't take it anymore. The doctors are very professional, but the support staff is very frustrating. It takes multiple calls to get a response from anyone. Its a pain to switch doctors, but it was worth it. read more

I brought my mom here for eye exam. They quickly filled forms but didn't tell us what's covered, what's not and our cost. In the exam they asked my mom to do all sorts of tests and never mentioned cost. Until the end, we were showed a surprisingly large bill. When we asked the clerk why they didn't tell us early, she immediately brought out her boss. This lady was not nice at all. She was impatient, offered no explain, but showed us the signed form, asked us to pay. We felt cheated here and will never come back! read more

Doctors are great but the front office has completely gone down hill. I have been a patient here for over 10 years and all of the sudden they make appointments when they are closed, no calls, and I felt they really don't care about customer service. Been waiting three weeks now for glasses that I ordered. My wife's contacts she ordered were shipped to the wrong address. They said they would resend to the correct address and after a week and the contacts not showing up, called again to find out they were never reordered. The front office is a complete mess and it is time for us to move on. read more

I went to get my glasses and the Doctor was excellent. The staff and technicians who helped me are horrible. First they do not have enough knowledge and when I told them that I am having Swiss brand 1 gram eye glasses, they tried to make me look foolish and telling me that might be really cheap we don't carry them. Although they are excellent glasses with 1000$ cost. Next thing I picked glasses that were with all the accessories and polish. It has been 2 months every time I go to pick them up they are wrong due to staff lack of knowledge. 1st rimless glasses they did not polish and tech told me you don't know about rimless glasses, although I used most of my life similar glasses. When I showed them during the next visit, the answer was oh, we can do that, and then with clip ons charging 1100 $ and giving me walmart brand which I could have bought by myself for 10 $. I was told we are not contracted for rimless clipons. Again I was sent back waiting for a month to fix what should have been done in the first place. My experience with techs horrible and I wish I would have never gone there. My whole life using glasses never came across this kind of experience when I am by myself in the medical field which I do not mention since i want to be treated like an ordinary person but with respect. Which I don't think foothill optometry in pleasanton knows about it. Hopefully I will be able to get my glasses some day. Learned my lesson never pay full until you get your stuff. I wish I can tell everyone never go there to get your glasses, most inefficient staff that I came across during my life. Staff with only looks and empty brains. I kept on waiting for their calls and after a month when I call them what is happening no one knows exactly. read more

They have a very friendly and knowledge staff that help me with understanding my visual needs. The office hours are very convenient too, so even though I live relatively far away from the location, it's worth the drive for me. It's a great optometrist spot. Best in the Bay! read more

Came in for some contacts . The office is very big and well staffed, clean and well stocked with good selection of frames . But I am most impressed with the help I got from Ann . She was very very polite , kind and helpful . I can see why they have good reviews . So if you're thinking of coming here you won't be disappointed . read more

I love this optometrist office! I have been going to this office since I was a teenager (and they were in their old location). I have always found the staff to be so friendly and helpful. Recently had an exam with Dr. Liu, and he was so patient and really didn't make me feel rushed or like he was hurrying to another appointment. He was very personable and chatted about my job and school, even bringing up things we talked about several years ago. I felt totally comfortable the whole time. Dr. Liu understood my nervousness and made an effort to avoid things that would make me uncomfortable. I was in an out in about an hour, and that included my full exam and choosing new frames. My only frustration was that the technician that helped me choose frames was VERY softspoken and I could only hear parts of what she was saying. I kept asking her to repeat what she said but it didn't help much. This made it a little bit awkward to talk about frames, costs, upgrades etc. I felt like I might be agreeing to something way more expensive than I wanted to just because I couldn't hear her. Otherwise, wonderful experience as usual and I will definitely continue to go back for eye care!! read more

Been going here for about two years now and I think I'll keep doing that because of the service. Key things I liked are friendliness of the entire staff A-Z, knowledge of doctors and their effort to answer your questions thoroughly. 5/5 for the standard they have maintained so far. read more

A friend recommended Dr. Liu after I had a negative experience at an optometrist in Livermore (unprofessional, wrong prescription, etc.). Dr. Liu was very knowledgeable and thorough, solved my unusual prescription issue and only charged for an exam since I had just had a complete work-up two months prior at the first optometrist. The office staff were friendly and helpful. I had already purchased frames elsewhere, but would definitely look at their selection next time. Thank you, Dr. Liu! read more

Love the great customer service I get for everyone in the office. They are very helpful. Dr Longacre, had been my Dr for around 16 years and I have never been disappointed at all. Love the office and I honestly recommend this place to everyone who is looking for a great place to take care of your eyes. read more

I have been a patient for over 15 years and although I now live out of the area I manage to visit since I often travel to the area for work. Thorough exams and treated with professional courtesy. Now that I live out of the area they mail me my glasses and all has been fine with no issues. read more

Great place. I went to them for the first time. Staff and doctor were friendly and knowledgeable. They will be my new optometrist.

Agreed. The staff finally ruined it for me. The Dr. was great but after 7years of incompetency issues with the staff, I finally went elsewhere. read more

I recently had an eye exam from Dr. Liu. I was very pleased with the level of care this practice provides. I was in and out in under an hour with new glasses. I will definitely go back to this practice. Friendly staff and beautiful facility. read more

I was referred to them by a co-worker but I'm not sure I'll be returning. The eye appt was fine and the selection was okay (not as good as I thought it would be for the size of the office) but my major complaint was no one called me when my perscription arrived. Instead they sent an email to the wrong address. When I called them it took a day for anyone to return my call (even though it was 8:30 in the morning). They were apologetic but bottom line they had my glasses for three weeks! I would have thought they would have followed up the email with a call or someting. Again, very apologetic but didn't offer any repayment - instead I could come in whenever I wanted for an adjustment. Seriously? I think that's part of the standard service any way. Not sure if I'll return to them. read more

I have been going to Foothill Optometric Group since I was 5 years old, and have never had any reason to look elsewhere. I have seen both Dr. Liu and Dr. Longacre over the years, and I leave the office every time stoked on my vision with both contact and glasses. I love the huge selection they have on glasses too!!! Dr. Liu cares alot about me as a patient, always putting my best interest over finances. He even recommended me to get lasik eye surgery last year, despite knowing that I would not be ordering glasses from him anymore because of the surgery. However, what I appreciate most from FOG is what they do to help the youth in the community. I first met Dr. Liu when he was my coach for flag football, and he has been a great mentor to me over the years. He has made such an impact in my life that I am now in the process of writing applications for Optometry School because of him. In order to help me out, he hired me to his office staff when I was a young 16 year old, and was patient and I learned how to interact with patients, as trying as that was in the beginning. I have since gone away to college for my Pre-Optometry courses, but he has hired me back ever summer and winter break, giving me more and more responsibilities around the office each year. I have total confidence going into Optometry School, and it is completely due the work he has let me do around the office. I have nothing but great experiences with this office, and will continue to recommend this office, as my family and I have done for 17 years now read more

Let's begin with Customer Service. Non-Existent. Also, I waited over 30 minutes to just pick out glasses with their technician. The doctor's didn't even care I was there; however, they did care about my money. The frames came in wrong. It was completely amateur that they couldn't even order what I paid and wanted. After the fact, they didn't even try to make it right. During my exam, the doctor spoke so quickly that I couldn't understand what the he** she was talking about. It was clear that I didn't matter. I wouldn't send my dog in there if he was having trouble seeing. read more

I had a very good experience with Foothill Optometric Group while booking appointments and getting mine and my boyfriend's information put into the system over the phone. When we showed up for our appointments, the woman we interacted with at the check-in desk was very unprofessional. We had been emailed paperwork to fill out prior to our appointments and when I recommended that she go over everything with Mike and myself in parallel (two birds, one stone) she got visibly flustered and made it clear that I was inconveniencing her. Then when she was trying to strap on additional fees for things including a contact fitting fee, she was visibly irritated when I mentioned that I've never had to pay for this before elsewhere. Beyond her, however, our experience was wonderful. I was seen by Dr. Edwin Liu, who has a wonderful bed-side manner. The technicians and eye glass staff were exceptionally helpful and friendly as well. I would highly recommend this place to others. read more

I received my glasses today, a week ahead of schedule and they are great. Thanks again, FOG!

Overall, Foothill Optometry receives 2.6 stars. I rated the business based on these five factors: competency, customer service, technology, ambience, and doctor & patient relationship. Here are the good: ============== I rated five stars for the following +The business is equipped with up-to-date technology. + The business is spacious. Here are the bad ============= - I rated one star for the competency. The two test performed by two so-called high school technicians had to be redone twice, one by an optometrist. I noticed that they pair me with three Asian employees just because I am an Asian. One at the beginning when I had my eye check to determine whether I am color blind, a procedure which was done at San Ramon Optometry by an optometrist herself. Then, the Optomap retina exam which was redone twice. Towards the end, I asked an admin a question which she didn't know. Instead of telling me that she would find out the answer for me, she told me she didn't know. Then, when it comes to pick out eye classes, another female lady came approached me without even greetings, starting to tell me my coverage information without any greetings or smile. After I finished the exam. The doctor didn't check me out at the office. There seems to be a lack of communication between the optometrist and her staff. -I rated one star for customer service. When I arrived at the office, no one greeted me. All I asked was to sign in. No greetings or how are you? I wondered whatever happened to customer service liked what I have seen at Nordstrom. An employee who was helping me to pick my glasses didn't crack a smile. -I rated one star for doctor and patient relationship. Then, the optometrist, Dr. Staples, came in to perform the exam in the office without even introducing herself. She started telling me she would like to dilated my eye and also referred me to an ophthalmologist without telling me the reason. As a patient, I am responsible for my body and an educated patient and would like to be informed. Therefore, I strongly recommend against choosing the office. She wasn't friendly. Also, I noticed how she was not friendly towards her staff either. So if you are an individual who are educated and would like to know about what's going on with your eyes/body and would like a friendly human touch, I recommend against this business. I have been to a more outstanding service and office, San Ramon Optometry, Dr. Sung, who is no longer at the business. So, I will continue to search until I find the best. read more

Fantastic. Very efficient and friendly staff. Dr. Sjodahl is great. My family will coming here for a long time.

I am new to the area and looking for a new eye dr. I actually went here only to buy a pair of glasses. They had a large selection of frames, and are able to order even more. The staff was friendly. I took off one star because they had me waiting a very long time (someone messed up and marked they had helped me already when they hadn't). Considering how quickly they got everyone else in for their appointments, I assume my wait time was a fluke and not the norm. I will definitely go back this year for an eye exam. read more

friendly service, clean office, competent doctors, great experience

Been going here since I was a wee babe. At that age, the eye tests were like video games and I still feel nostalgic "playing" them today! The Doctors are always more than pleasant and do a great job making you feel comfortable while being 100% honest. Would definitely recommend to those who may be nervous about getting checked out! Plus, they have a great eyeglass selection & I was recently told at my last visit that they are trying to get a partnership with Ray Ban, which would be awesome. read more

I'm so disappointed with Foothill Optometry. My first appointment there the dr was not very friendly. And I've been calling forever to order my contacts and they never answer the phone. When they call me back, they leave a message saying they are closed and to call back again. I'm ready to go back to Livermore Optometry which was a great place, but was quite far for our family. read more

I've been going to Dr Staples since 2000. I love the friendly service and selection. I would whole-heartedly recommend them.

Outstanding experience. I use to go to an opthamologist. On a friend's referral, I went to Foothill. Dr. Longacre was more thorough than my opthamologist! Great, high end fashionable frames. I CONSTANTLY get compliments on my eyewear, and enjoy their "trunk shows." Wonderful, friendly staff. Thanks Foothill! read more

My first time at the Foothill Optometric Group - was seen by Dr Yang. I had problems with my eyes since childhood and he was the one that explained many of the symptoms to me. Other doctors before did not bother to go into details. I appreciated the fact that (as opposed to other Optometrists I've seen in the past) he did not try to upsell me or to scare me into buying additional tests just to make sure there is nothing really wrong... I will definitely go back and will also bring my family. The staff was also extremely friendly and helpful. This business fully deserves a 5-star. read more

I've had a good experience with the doctors here, but the front desk completely ruins the experience. As others have pointed out, they have plenty of staff, but they run around with absolutely no organization. I recently went in to pick up my glasses. Signed in at the front desk and waited. A few people ahead of me were called, and then people who came in after me started being called. I finally went up to the front desk and asked them about it, and they told me I would be next. Four more people who came in after me were called up, and I finally wound up leaving in utter frustration, without my glasses. While the doctors are good, the mess at the front desk leave me to say you should avoid this place if you can. read more
