I received excellent service as a patient of Dr. Longacre. She did a complete eye exam and spent time with me to explain my condition. Her staff were also supportive. However, when I returned to look at frames a few days later, I dropped by without an appointment. No one told me I needed to sign in. I looked at frames waited for almost an hour and none of the staff acknowledged me. When I did approach the desk to request some help in selecting a frame, told me they were too busy to see me before close that day. They told me to come back on another day. I would only recommend going to this particular optometry office if you have insurance, or are independently wealthy. Their exam rates were the highest of any optometrists I checked with in the area. In addition, the rates for their frames and lenses were pretty high as well. read more

Our whole family goes to Foothill Optometric and they're fantastic! Always great service, friendly and knowledgeable. They've even squeezed my husband in on a Saturday when he had pink eye right before a business trip. We're thrilled to recommend them! read more

My wife and I have been coming to Foothill Optometric Group for almost 7 years. Excellent staff .... totally comfortable coming here

Dr. Yang is thorough, knowledgeable and a pleasure to work with. The entire staff is friendly, caring and efficient. The amount of time and training FOG put into making the client experience outstanding shows! read more

Foothill Optometric Group is Awesome!!! I have been going to FOG for a number of years and have always had a great experience. The Doctors are friendly, informative and professional. The office is immaculately clean and comfortable. They are reassuring to me, since they stay current and offer the most advanced in equipment, training and technology, and offer an incredible selection of frames. While I know a few YELPERS have complained about a couple of members of their staff, as a small business owner myself, I know how hard it is to maintain a friendly, highly trained and efficient staff on a day to day basis. In addition, I understand a staff member may have a bad day from time to time, like any of us; so you have to look beyond some of these complaints. All in all, you only have one set of eyes and I trust my eyes to Foothill Optometric Group!!! read more

I've been coming to Foothill Optometric Group for years and years. I'm always impressed with the professionalism and customer service of both the staff and Dr. Liu. (also Dr. Sjodahl who I've seen a few times and like a lot). The office is beautiful....almost a spa-like atmosphere. Dr. Liu 'knows it all.' Last week he gave me clear, smart options re: wearing a combination of contact lenses and/ or glasses. In a short period of time I decided which contacts to try and I LOVE them! Also, their office offers discounts and rebates on ordering contact lenses, which makes the prices competitive with other vendors. I highly recommend this office. I moved from Pleasanton to Oakland two years ago and wouldn't dream of looking for a new group of eye doc's closer to home. read more

I visited Dr. Sjodahl for an eye test and it was a good experience. He patiently answered any questions that I had. He was knowledgeable, efficient, patient, and friendly. The other staff also that I interacted with seemed to know what they were doing. read more

I have been coming to this office forever. Everyone is friendly and professional. Love Dr Liu. I would recommend this office to anyone!

Great patient care here. Staff is very helpful and my appointment time was kept and I was helped on time. Dr. Sjodahl came highly recommended and now I see why - he was very friendly and, more importantly, extremely helpful in explaining every detail about my condition to me. Great glasses selection onsite, too. read more

Dr. Staples is a very caring doctor. She took care of my right eye after an injury. She was very concern & gave me confidence that she knows what's the right thing to do for treatment. She's very professional and explained to me what happened to my eye and what treatment she's going to do. She wanted to see me again the next morning to see if the medication she prescribed helped. She had to adjust some because she was not happy with the overnight result. I'm feeling so much better & on my way to recovery ! Thank you read more

I choose to pay out of pocket to get the great service I receive here, rather than go to Kaiser. The thoroughness of the exam is top notch. I wont trust my eyes anywhere else. Have used both Dr.s Liu and Longacre.both are extraordinary. read more

I came here to get fitted for a new pair of driving glasses and all in all they are a fantastic group of optometrists. I only had to wait about five minutes before the doctor could see me for an eye exam and he was a great guy, very knowledgeable and funny. I'm fairly satisfied with me new glasses (a lot better than my old pair), but I might go back to get them tweaked slightly as my vision is still slightly blurry. read more

This is my 2nd time back for an annual check-up and very satisfied as always. I saw Dr. Longacre the first time a year or so ago and Dr. Sjodahl this time and they were both very friendly, thorough and able to explain and answer questions clearly. The front staff and optometrists (?) are all very helpful too. Definitely where I would always go to for eye check ups and prescriptions. read more

I have been a patient at this office for 9 years and have generally been pleased with their services, but my most recent experience has been pretty bad, and it is still not resolved. More than 2 months ago, I ordered new lenses for my progressive glasses. It took three weeks for the lenses to come in, but I couldn't see very well out of them, and it turns out that the distance prescription was out of date and no longer correct. I have now been waiting 4 weeks for the replacement lenses to come in. I have called on multiple occasions, the people I have talked to have promised to look into it and call me back, but no one ever does. It has now been 9 weeks since my initial appointment, and I am still wearing an old pair of glasses most of the time, since I can see better through those than through the new ones. The people who work in this office are perfectly friendly and competent most of the time, but their customer service recently has been remarkably bad. read more

I was very disappointed after calling the office and the leaving the message to the doctor and did not get call back after 3 attempts :(

Dr. Lew and his staff always gives us the best experience! Every person you interact with is kind, patient and truly cares. Dr. Lew always spends that extra moment to make you laugh and ask how you are doing! I would never pick any other place! read more

Dr. Staples has gone above and beyond what other Optometrists have been able to accomplish. I was unable to get any better results than what I already had with glasses. She has put out a lot of effort to get me into contact lenses which are working much better for me than glasses did. Thanks for not giving up on me like the others did Dr Staples! :) read more

First time under Dr. Liu's care and my experience was top notch. Great staff, technology, and wide variety of products to choose from when shopping for new frames and lenses. I'll be going back again and again. read more

I visited Foothill Optometric Group last week for the first time in a little over two years, and I was extremely pleased with my visit. For context, my glasses broke about a week ago, so I needed to make a visit to the optometrist to figure out how to go about fixing my current ones/potentially acquiring new ones. I made a phone call on Monday to schedule an appointment, and luckily, Dr. Yang was available to see me the next day, which I found incredible. Because my last eye exam was over two years ago, I was required to get my eyes rechecked before figuring out my glasses situation, and I'm very grateful that my schedule aligned well with that of the eye doctors @ FOG. Anyhow, upon my arrival I simply filled out some of my updated medical records and was seen by Dr. Yang in a very timely manner. I am very afraid of having anything put into my eyes (such as eye drops for pupil dilation), but Dr. Yang was very understanding of this, and made me feel very comfortable moving forward with the eye exam without the dilation. Instead, I had some extensive eye imaging done (painless, and only a teeny bit more expensive!). I had a great conversation with Dr. Yang about the benefits and downsides of getting contact lenses, which allowed me to make an informed decision on whether or not I would like to pursue that option. I also learned that Dr. Yang is a Cal alum (go bears!) which was exciting as well, and led to some great conversations. After I was done with my eye exam and the imaging, I spoke with someone about my options regarding new glasses/fixing my current ones, and I completely lucked out by owning glasses that are not discontinued! So the woman I spoke with immediately called the manufacturer and ordered new temples for my glasses, which should be coming in the next two weeks (imported from abroad). All in all, I had an excellent visit, and highly recommend getting your eye exams done here. Looking forward to my next visit! read more

My experience with FOG has always been positive. Their staff is really friendly and always smiling. Dr. Sjodahl is very helpful and friendly. He takes time to educate his patients about the issues they are having. They have longer hours on Tuesdays so it works well if you are working until 5 everyday and don't want to use your weekends for doctor's visits. one thing that always brings me back here is that you will never feel that they are trying to rush you out even though they are crazy busy all the time. read more

Absolutely fabulous optometry group. All staff is friendly and I was treated wonderfully. Would highly recommend.

All the staff are wonderfully pleasant and helpful. Dr. Longacre explains all the procedures and answers any questions. There is no pressure to purchase lenses and frames and I can always count on the staff checking my insurance coverage to be sure that I understand what is covered. read more

My doctor may have saved my eyesight. Am very thankful. A previous HMO eye doctor took only 3 minutes to do an eye exam. My Foothill Optometric doctor took 45 minutes? She found a hemorrhage. Love coming here for all my optometric needs. I wear contacts and prescription glasses for my near-sightedness. Dr. Yang is very attentive and considers my lifestyle in deciding which prescription to offer me. He knows that my job requires me to be on a computer all day, everyday. So, he makes sure that my prescription does not strain my eyes. The office staff are all very friendly. I never have to wait long to be helped or seen by the doctor. They are very knowledgeable about what my insurance covers, even when I change vision insurance providers. The online system is very convenient as well. I always get reminders of when to make another appointment. I can update my information online. All in all, I would gladly recommend Foothill Optometric Group and Dr Yang to my friends and relatives. read more

My husband and I are new to the area, and were very pleased to have found Foothill Optometric. We have both seen Dr. Sjodahl and feel very comfortable in his care. He is very personable, takes the time to explain all the procedures along the way, and answering all questions. The optical staff was great in explaining what our insurance covered and was very patient while we took our time to choose our frames. Neither of us felt rushed to make a decision. It did take a bit longer than i expected to get my husband's glasses back once ordered. I ordered mine 2 days ago, so I dont know if this is the usual wait time or not. Overall, the entire service and staff are great. I will go back for my next pair of glasses. read more

Longtime patient of Dr. Longacre. I keep coming back because she makes sure we get my prescription right, does a very thorough job of assessing my eye health, and is a very warm and engaging person. I don't always find the exact frame I want there - but that's not why I'm there. They do have a decent selection or frames in all price ranges, but I'm most concerned about getting the Rx right, and the lenses crafted correctly! They stand behind their work, and "focus" on getting you comfortable in your corrective lenses. read more

I'm a long time patient of Foothill Optometric. I've always had a positive experience with the doctors and staff, easy scheduling and quick in and out service. They've always been on time and prescriptions filled in a timely manner. In fact, I just visited with Dr. Liu due to an issue I was having with one of my contacts (non-emergency). They accommodated my request to come in prior to my annual visit and resolved the problem quickly. Although my insurance didn't cover the visit it was nice to receive a discounted rate. read more

This place is a complete disappointment. My husband's first appointment was in mid Sept 2012. He ordered a replacement of his regular glasses and a second pair for computer work. Both pairs were not usable and we had to return them for an adjustment. After waiting and getting passed around they thought they knew what the problem was and sent them back. We waited another 2 weeks only to be given 2 more pairs of unusable glasses. Finally my husband asked them to please just copy the prescription from his regular glasses (he had purchased them for the same company 3 years ago) and they said that the materials might be different and that might not be possible. The doctor and the lab manager seemed to be out of sync with each other. We heard several versions of why the glasses were not correct and the doctor told us the lab manager would call us the next day to discuss it. The next call we got was over a week later to tell us the new glasses were ready. No explanation, just come get them. Again, the glasses were blurry on the sides and could not be used especially for driving. When we returned the glasses the office manager, Shelly told us she could refund the glasses but not the eye exam (159.00) or the eye photo (39.00). We were out 198.00 and had no glasses. I told them they should be ashamed of themselves. I also asked for a copy of the exam and eye photo. The manager them asked if she could email me the eye photo. I said absolutely not and waited for the copies. They couldn't figure out how to print the eye photo so they had to refund the 39 dollars. That now left us out 159 dollars for hours of wasted time and aggravation and no glasses. It is now late November. Outrageous! Will never go near there again. read more

The office looks great, lots of professionals in one place, they issued a fine prescription for my daughter, BUT I don't like their service and selection of glasses for little kids is very poor. Service feels like you are on a sort of a production line: 1st person checks you in 2nd person makes sure to tell you in a rude tone that you are 3 minutes late and that you might have to come back with your kid again. when you try to explain, she responds in even ruder tone. clearly, she has no kids and no understanding of kids. 3rd person walks you in 4th person does the Optomat imaging 5th person does the machine vision measurements 6th person does the exam (doc is great, hence 2 stars!) 7th person shows you glasses (again, poor selection for little kids, 3 pairs) 8th person checks you out Now, that was tiring and unpersonable. Sorry, I won't be back. To Dr. Yang: Thank you for being patient with my daughter. She still wears her glasses. read more
