Alex came to our house and gave us an estimate to repair our front steps and told us they would last a very long time. A few days later, his workers showed up, unannounced, asking what they needed to do. I told them I have no idea, and my husband is not home, and to coordinate a time with him. A few days later (on a Sunday), they showed up unannounced again! My husband was out again! They asked me to pick a paint color and I asked if that is included in the price we were quoted and they said they didn't know. As I was trying to figure that out, it came out that they don't think repairing the stairs is a good idea and they can't even guarantee they won't break again for even 3 days. I asked if it would be a lot more expensive to redo the whole thing and they said it would be exponentially more expensive. I told them we'll talk to Alex and get back to them. 30 minutes later, Alex calls my husband screaming at him! He told him that we shouldn't ask his contractors about prices and that he doesn't work that way and that we should find someone else to work with and hung up the phone on my husband! He was literally screaming at my husband on the phone. And then hung up on him. There are so many issues with our experience starting with the fact that the workers kept showing up without prior notice and asking a lot of questions as if they didn't know what they were supposed to be doing. And then of course the fact that he was trying to scam us into doing something that he knew might not even last the week. And then finally, calling my husband and screaming at him and hanging up on him because his workers were asking us a lot of questions?! It's just been an atrocious experience. I recommend avoiding him at all costs. UPDATE: Alex is now threatening my husband over text messages because of our review. We are just stating facts. He said we are inappropriate to contact him on a Sunday when it was his contractors who showed up at our doorstep, unannounced, on a Sunday, and we were just calling to clear things up with him because they had no idea what they were supposed to do and were asking me a lot of questions. He also accused us of trying to strike a deal with his subcontractors, something that didn't cross our minds for one second. We were just trying to figure out if the paint his contractors were making me choose was included in the estimate he provided us.

Alex was helpful and responsive in coming to my home, talking me through the process and promptly providing a quote. Lofft was not the cheapest estimate I received but based on my meeting with Alex and previous reviews, I decided to hire them for my work. Very happy with my decision. The project began and ended exactly on schedule. Eric and Freddie were easy to work with, dependable, did a fantastic job and kept the worksite clean during the project. I'm going to redo my master bath and will look to Lofft to do the project. I'd give them six stars if the system allowed.

Short review: hiring Construction Systems of Virginia is the hardest I've ever had to work for a…read morejob I was paying somebody else to do. Between missed self-imposed deadlines, poor workmanship, and major mistakes, completing the project to satisfaction took constant vigilance on my part and a general knowledge of construction techniques I felt lucky to have, but would've left someone less experienced with sometimes unsafe conditions in their home. Overall, the project was completed, but it took significant effort, time, and money on my part and, as a result, I wouldn't recommend anybody to hire Construction Systems of Virginia. The final straw for me to write this review is that one of the two patio doors I had installed by CSOVA started peeling on the door jamb after only a year or two. I reached out to CSOVA to ask for a receipt so I could file a warranty claim with the manufacturer. They had no receipt. I asked for a statement or some kind of paperwork that I could send to the manufacturer. They said they would send it but have never followed up despite asking for it multiple times. My project was large in scope and took five months. I hired CSOVA via Patrick Mullen to repair the back exterior wall of my townhouse after we discovered mold on the inside. It's difficult to be concise with all the things that went sideways on this project so here's my top ten things that went wrong: 1. They installed an outlet without an electrical box 2. They didn't initially replace the piece of sheathing that caused our mold problem until I noticed it 3. They boarded up our laundry and bathroom exhaust vents, until I pointed it out. 4. They painted over our fireplace bricks when installing the mantle which was not requested nor inside the scope of work. 5. They bought the wrong insulation materials twice even though the brand was specifically listed in the contract 6. Materials were ordered late and delayed parts of the project 7. Siding repairs were mismatched for a different style that our HOA explicitly didn't allow. I had sent CSOVA our HOA terms. 8. They reattached our downspouts without the proper drain adapter (as it was before) 9. The brand new patio door they installed still leaked water after multiple repair attempts. 10. The work crew, on several occasions, breached the mold containment zone that the mold remediation company said not to breach. This list doesn't even include the lack of diligence on finish details that would indicate a professional install: wall and outlet plates not removed prior to painting (and when I did it myself for the 2nd coat, they were reinstalled immediately after painting before it could dry); a gallon paint can I supplied mangled to the point it had to be discarded; three different colors of caulk on the exterior of my door frame; mismatched screws on the hinges of a brand new patio door; a missing bracket on one downspout but not the other; different trim pieces for the same type of exhaust vent literally side-by-side; and probably more that Ive forgotten or yet to discover. All said and done, I cannot recommend CSOVA. I leave two stars because I do appreciate that Patrick always had a good attitude, was open to addressing the issues, and accommodating with scheduling. In the end, the work simply was not of quality without tremendous personal effort and time.

The color recommendations Patrick gave for wall/trim colors and fixtures were a subtle way to elevate and bring attention to the details, such as selecting pearl for the extensive crown molding to give it a shine. The shiplap ceiling and walls helped to create the airy, farm house feel we were aiming for. I took a lot of the design expertise of Owner Patrick. He recommended we add in the wainscoting to give the kitchen dining area an elevated, cozy feel. He also recommended we paint the ceiling and walls of the green room to give it a moody feel- At first I was skeptical but now cannot picture it any other way. He had the idea of combining the mudroom bricks with the shiplap walls- which is truly just dreamy... This house now exceeds anything I could have ever dreamed up. Patrick also gave multiple tile options and design ideas until we finally landed on our perfect match. I appreciated his willingness to work with my need to "see things" laid out before picking options. He provided multiple sample coats of paint options, laid the tile and floor choices next to each other so all I truly had to do was point my finger. The bathrooms now feel like I am stepping into a spa each day. Communication was huge as with any big project there are so many moving parts and changes, so I appreciated his quick responses and willingness to make adjustments as needed. While I have so many more positive things I could say, I will let their high quality work speak for itself with pictures.

Bath Plus Kitchen has actual architects on staff, listened to my list of wants and needs, and then incorporated them. I liked that they change a base price for this, so that I had the option of taking the plans to a different contractor or of using their in-house building crew. We went with their building crew, and we're really happy with how the kitchen turned out. It's so much more open and spacious than before. I have lots of space for working. I upgraded to a powerful stove with a hood, both of which work great. I'm really happy with the quality of the cabinets -- such an upgrade from any I've had before, probably ever. I'm enjoying the little extras that they planned into the kitchen that wouldn't have occurred to me, like dimmers on all of the lights, the quality hardware, touch-sensitive faucet, even the matching wood-panel vent covers and switch plate. The building crew did a very good job keeping the site clean and performing quality work all the way around. Nothing has felt wobbly, looked crooked, or seemed in the slightest bit off. A few negatives: Bath Plus Kitchen is BUSY! We started working on this project in November 2022. We finalized the plans, picked out appliances, and put down a large deposit in early February 2023. Work on our kitchen actually began the second week of July. That's a while to wait! We also had a few communication challenges, like a shifting start date, when to expect the crew to be at our house, and who was responsible for arranging delivery of a few items. It was nothing awful, but worth keeping on top of. Overall, the kitchen looks great and is great to cook in, and I'm excited to have friends over. I think we will enjoy it for many years to come.

I hired Ashyana to perform kitchen and bathroom remodeling in my condo in April 2018. I was…read moreimpressed by their references and had a week when I was out of town where they had full access to the apartment, which Mustafa Khaliqy assured me would be sufficient to do the work. The first day, they locked themselves out and had to destroy the doorknob to get back in. Three days in, the demolish was done but no work was done for the rest of the week. After I returned, I found the condo full of dust with no groundcloth laid down to contain it, and was forced to stay in a hotel a full three days additional. Inspecting the work, the countertops were misaligned to the wall and the standing shower was installed with a 6-inch concrete lift that forced me to raise the showerhead nearly to the ceiling. The kitchen tile wasn't even extended halfway under the sink! To his credit, Mustafa's team finished the tile and moved the showerhead. Still, the fit and finish were substandard. I discovered quickly that the shower grout was not sealed properly and several of the shower floor tiles came loose. Just a few years later, the condo below mine indicated that they have water leaking into their ceiling. The culprit is the drain pan installed in the shower; from the inspector: "The drain pan (Which is a basically a rubber liner) was not properly installed. The purpose of the the liner is to trap and water that seeps through the tile and divert it back in to the drain. In the access panel on the living room side you will be able to see that the rubber liner was cut and not glued properly at of the corners. This is causing the water to drip on the ceiling of the unit below. To repair this, the shower must be demolished completely and redone properly. Unfortunately, there is no way around this."

On top of that, they also replaced 4 standard interior doors and 8 bi-fold closet doors in the primary suite, refinished the hardwood floors throughout the primary suite (which includes a bedroom, hallway and attached small nursery), and installed new overhead lighting in both the primary bedroom and nursery. From start to finish, the team was outstanding. They showed up on time every single day, worked diligently, and paid close attention to detail to make sure everything was done right - they don't cut corners. The craftsmanship and care they put into their work really show in the final result.
