I don't recommend this company because their hepfulness is non-existent after the sale. We engaged HB Home Services to install 20+ new windows by Provia in our home in 2019, cost about $12,000, and we were happy with the result...at the time. The installation crew was quick, efficient, and friendly. However this week, we had a spring on one of the double-hung windows that allows raising/lowering the window. We thought no problem, HB or Provia would replace the spring under warranty...until we called HB. HB told us it would cost $150 for them to come out, if they didn't have the part(s) needed, it would cost another $150 for them to come back, the part would be covered. Seems way to high to replace a part we can buy for $8 and requires removing/replacing two screws. HB wouldn't even help by providing the part number. Now its become a pointing game, HB points at Provia and their supplier, the supplier only deals in wholesale, Provia points at HB. Given this current experience, I can't recommend any of the companies involved! Now, I can't even get a call back from the someone at HB that can resolve the situation! read more

Avoid this company at all costs. Our experience was one of the most frustrating, drawn-out, and disappointing projects we've ever been through. What was supposed to be a simple two-bathroom renovation turned into an eight-month nightmare of shoddy workmanship, repeated mistakes, and endless delays caused by inexperienced, poorly managed crews. The basement bathroom had to be redone multiple times by different teams, each creating new issues to fix. Even after the company admitted to the problems and agreed to cancel the second bathroom, they dragged their feet for weeks, dodged questions about refunds, and even implied the leftover materials were our problem. When they finally agreed to pick them up, they had the nerve to charge us for their time -- all while ignoring the fact that materials meant for the unfinished second bathroom were used to redo the first one (yes, the same shower was tiled three times because of poor workmanship). Throughout the process, there was zero transparency -- constantly changing explanations, inconsistent numbers, and confusing or incomplete accounting. Getting a straight answer or a complete document required multiple follow-ups. And while they admitted more than once that the project had been mishandled, there was no accountability, no ownership, and no urgency to make things right. We started this project in good faith and with patience, but it became painfully clear that customer satisfaction and integrity are not values this company upholds. If you care about honesty, professionalism, and clear communication, look elsewhere. Hard pass. read more

This was the most unprofessional contracting experience I've had. Poor workmanship, poor communication, inaccurate billing. We hired this company in early November to redo a pantry. The scope of work was straightforward: center a door frame and install 270-degree shelving. Because Thanksgiving was approaching, I explicitly told them that if they could not complete the job before the holiday, I would postpone the project. They insisted multiple times that it would take three days. From the beginning communication was poor. The sales representative Johnny, who is unresponsive and rude when he finally does respond only after making the sale, did not clearly convey the scope of work. That forced me to re-explain the project in detail onsite to the project manager, Phil who's actually nice but doesn't have the labor talent pool to get the job done. After that walkthrough, I did not hear from the company for the rest of the day. Work did not actually begin until about a week later. By day 9 of what was supposed to be a 3-day project, only the door frame had been moved, but tile repair and cleanup were left unfinished. At this point, we had already paid 25% of the total cost. I withheld further payment until progress was made. When shelf installation began, the support trim was installed at 19-inch spacing instead of 18 inches. I could have tolerated 17 but 19 made the top shelf unusable due to ceiling clearance. This had to be removed and redone. Around days 12-13, they began installing hardwood oak shelving. At that point, the installers discovered the pantry was not perfectly square. Instead of properly measuring and sanding or trimming the shelves, they began cutting into the drywall to force the boards to fit, without even discussing with me. I had explicitly warned the project manager that angled cuts were required in the corners to avoid visible seams due to rounded shelf edges. Despite acknowledging this, the installers cut 90-degree notches anyway. After the first mistake, I had come back and showed them the only workable design. They then ruined the remaining material by making inaccurate cuts, marking only the top of the boards and cutting an extra inch deep on the underside because they used circular saws. On day 14, I terminated the contract. On day 15, I ordered replacement hardwood shelving myself, from Colonial Hardoods. By day 21, I had completed the entire project alone, including trimming, finishing, and sealing, despite curing time preventing full pantry use before Thanksgiving. After being fired, the company sent a final invoice that exceeded the original quote, despite completing less work. I flagged the billing error and was told by Phil it would be corrected. We then heard nothing for over two months. After that silence, they again attempted to collect more than the original quoted amount. This project missed deadlines by weeks, required rework due to basic errors, caused property damage, and resulted in inaccurate billing. I would not recommend them, save yourself the headaches. read more

HB Home Services did a phenomenal job renovating our living room, hallway, foyer/front door entrance. They removed and replaced all the drywall, lights, switches and outlets. In addition, they replaced our +40 year old fuse box. Our project manager, Miguel, and our team leader, Austin, were professional, knowledgeable and courteous. They ensured their tradesmen had everything they need to stay on schedule and on cost. Julio, the master electrician, installed our new fuse box and ensured we were up to code. Louis and Sandra and their team were wonderful replacing the drywall, lights etc. with great attention to detail. They were on time, professional and cleaned up every day. Our neighbor recommended HB because of the great job they did renovating her kitchen. Please call HB when you need work done. We could not be happier with the results! read more

HB renovated my bathroom upstairs - luckily the project was almost complete when disaster struck. Three days after the final plumbing for upstairs bathroom, the downstairs powder room toilet began flooding sewage water into my home, and the washer and dryer pipes were leaking water. Both of these are "lowest points" in the home where water will back up if there's something clogging the drain pipes. Come to find out, a worker's rag was pulled from my drain pipe causing this back up of sewage and water into my home not once but twice. I called my home warranty service which provided the emergency plumber who found the rag pulled from the pipe (photo). This rag was left in the pipe to keep fumes from coming into the home while the toilet hole was exposed. HB did pay for the emergency plumber as my home warranty service would not cover it since a foreign object was found in the drain pipe. This was about all the help they provided. Now, almost 2 months after this happened (Dec 31 and Jan 2), HB hasn't provided any solutions to the repairs problem. They pointed the finger at the plumber they subcontracted and vice versa. No one has taken ownership. I filed a homeowners insurance claim and supposedly HB has gotten theirs involved so no estimates or repairs can be done by them as this would be a "conflict of interest." No one from their leadership or management has even begun to offer a formal apology, I've only heard from the project manager I was working with, then he fell out of communication. There was zero thought to offer any sort of discount for the upstairs bathroom project, which became a direct cause of the disaster downstairs. I am now getting questions from the project manager asking how they can speed up the process with my insurance...Short answer is - HB should have handled this from the beginning, owning up to the mistakes and taking care of this issue and the mitigation and repairs that came with it, without question. They brought the people into my home to do this work and someone made a negligent mistake. I DO NOT recommend using HB for any remodeling you wish to have done in your home because if you experience a major f*$! up like I did, they won't be there to resolve the problem. You'll be left to deal with it on your own and it will take much longer since insurance processes are slow. As of today, the downstairs of my home is still in disarray, repairs unfinished and not in the same condition it was when HB first entered my home for the upstairs bathroom reno on December 9, 2020. read more

Three bathroom renovations in two locations (our home and a rental condo about 10 minutes away) - Summer 2022. Working with HB Home Services was truly "death by a thousand paper cuts." End result is that the bathrooms are beautiful and the quality of the workmanship is very good. However, very poor attention to details and terrible communication throughout. Problems included: 1) Installation -- shower tile was initially installed in the wrong pattern; wrong color tile trim was installed around the niche and edges; did not finish the baseboard; other small errors (grab bar installed too low, light fixture installed too low). Poor attention to detail, poor communication. 2) Plumbing -- minor leak that required repair and repaint to the kitchen ceiling below; two leaks when toilets were installed; leak in a sink faucet; bathtub faucet pressure was incorrect, causing a very loud sound; at the condo, water issues caused an issue for the downstairs neighbor and the behind-neighbor had water pressure issues. Some of these issues took multiple tries to correct, and in one case, a lot of effort on my part to be taken seriously 3) Purchasing errors -- did not order two towel racks; ordered the wrong size medicine cabinet, wrong size drawer pulls. Several of these issues took a lot of back-and-forth to resolve 4) Accounting -- Sent me an invoice for a completely different client; sent an invoice for 'substantial completion' when we were not at that stage; selections/allowance spreadsheet had hundreds of dollars of errors; final invoice double-charged me $850. All were corrected at my request, but sometimes it took several days to even get a response. 5) Other -- * They dumped or dropped something sludgy in the gutter downspouts and in the parking lot of a condo community, causing a huge mess and the homeowner's association got involved. It took multiple times to get this cleaned up * I changed my mind about the size of a mirror and said I felt I was misled by the designer to get such a big one. It would have looked ridiculous in the space. I found a new mirror, requested an exchange, and it took an entire month and several arguments and a lot of stonewalling to get what I wanted * Damaged our vanity, our bedroom ceiling, broke a window latch, left trash in our carport for over a week And this isn't even everything. For the (extremely!) high price we paid, I expected to have a dedicated person/team that would pay attention to all of the details and be very responsive to my concerns. Instead, I had to take on a ton of work and stress myself to get these projects done correctly. I am quite reluctant to leave such a poor review for a local, family-owned company. The end result of the renovations are, in fact, beautiful, and we will enjoy these bathrooms for years to come. There are certainly many things I would have done differently, and lessons I've learned for the next time I do a major home renovation. But the bottom line is it absolutely was not worth the stress and headaches and the extremely high price. I would not recommend HB Home Services. PS -- It is worth noting that senior management had already reached out to me wanting to talk further about the issues (prior to this review)... but as I told them, they had every opportunity to course-correct during our project, not after almost four months of work. I was in constant communication with them at every stage, and almost everything is in writing in their project management system. My use of HP services was not extensive, but I was extremely happy with the way they communicated with me and took care of the job. They took care of replacing my front door, including repairing the door frame, painting the door, and installing a new keypad lock for the door. I was unable to be at my home for most of the work that they did, and I felt very secure in letting them have access to my condo. I know that they do other work for the buildings in our condominium development. They communicated with me very well and they have a good online system for posting information, getting updates, and making payments on your account. read more

HB Services just did a major Reno on our house prior to putting it on the market. I can't recomend them highly enough! You hear horror stories about contractors who do shoddy work or unexpectedly leave you in the lurch. Harry and his staff were consistently organized, communicated well and often, and kept on budget and on schedule. They put in a new roof, siding, gutters, updated 3 bathrooms, brought electrical up to code, painted most of the house inside and out, and installed a truly gorgeous white kitchen with granite countertops and new appliances. Such a great company and experience!...Words rarely spoken about home remodeling companies. I had my entire home re-sided and a screened porch constructed. The whole team was extremely friendly, professional, and prompt. They responded quickly to any questions I had and completed the job to perfection.
