I had them come out for an estimate. A person came to my house, took pictures, talked to me about what I wanted and told me the office would send me an estimate. It is a small, straightforward job on a single family home, but 4 days later I did not hear from them. I called their office and was told that someone would send me the estimate by the end of the day. They did not. I could even understand if they think the job is too small and they do not want to do it, but please tell me that - don't just ghost me and waste my time. They have shown themselves to be unresponsive and I would rather not have to deal with that long term. They are no longer under consideration. read more

I took my time in selecting a roofing contractor. I did much research, heard several pitches, and took recommendations. It took more than a month. I was unsure who to go with, or whether to go with anyone at all. Then, I met Brandon from LAB Exteriors, and it all made so much sense. He could explain his plan with such accuracy, but he also explained it in a way that made sense. My initial meeting with Brandon was like pulling back the curtain. I immediately could see LAB's focus on being a fair and ethical company. I saw how Brandon determined the best options for my house, and I saw how he examined my ideas with what my house needed. He showed me on his software exactly where the pricing came from; unlike most contractors, LAB starts with their best price instead of being talked down to it. It became more of a consultation rather than a performance or pitch like you see in much of the industry. He educated me in the different vendors and the options with each. LAB has great relationships with vendors. Brandon offered the quote after our first meeting, did not do pressure pitch, and it was easy - basically, it was the opposite of much of the industry. If I could describe my experience with LAB, in a word, it would be this: transparency. I find we can't use that word with much of anything these days, so to be able to use it in a specialized industry that could easily exploit my lack of knowledge says much about the character and ethics of the company. My wife felt comfortable as well. Brandon and I went through several options and how different materials would work on my roof, door, and windows. I was indecisive, and it was never a problem if I wanted a new work up, material, or addition to the project. In fact, Brandon shared several resources with me where I could build what I liked and share it with him. He humored me and let me design whatever I wanted, and then he showed me how he ran the numbers. LAB underpromised what they could do, and then they over delivered in what they did. My house is in much better shape than before. LAB proved that you can trust a contractor, and they broke the stereotype that contractors take advantage of people. They are very much a local company, and they give back to the community. If you are looking for a contractor and you try some of the big companies around here, you will likely walk away disappointed. So I had a leak in my upstairs bathroom with the recent rainstorm. Saw the stellar reviews from this company and reached out. Spoke with Alex who picked right up and was able to send out a roofer the very next day when other companies were quoting appointments over a week out. With more rain in the forecast, I was pleased to hear how responsive they were. The roofer came in, diagnosed the issue and fixed it all in one go. Reached back out and spoke with Brandon who was also great and said the issue should be resolved. Lab Exteriors go above and beyond at all levels from ownership to troops in the field. I had noticed a water stain in the upstairs ceiling. I went into the attic and saw outside light entering the attic adjacent to a bathroom roof vent pipe. I called Mr. Salyer who was familiar with that type of problem and he sent his crew over to fix it and also check out the rest of the roof while they were there. A team of 3 arrived and not only fixed the problem but also worked on another vent pipe, tapped down some popped nails, did a little caulking, and even secured a loose shingle. They also gave me 14 photos. All of this was done without raising the quoted $200 charge. That's not something you see very often today where contractors take every opportunity to increase the scope of work upping the price. I called Mr. Salyer since he was the program manager on a $43k roof and column job I had him do on an other house a few years earlier. He was very responsive and always answered or returned my calls. Lab Exterior recently did vinyl siding repair for ua, and they did a terrific job. Brandon came out within days of my calling them to take a look at the work that needed to be done. He spent a lot of time finding a nearly identical matching piece to use, as our siding is fairly old. They were able to repair the siding within a week or so of my signing the estimate and did so quickly and with great results. A recent series of rain and thunderstorms threw a spotlight on some weak spots in our house's gutter system. I wanted to take care of this before the fall and winter storms arrive, and LAB Exteriors came and took care of the gutter system for me. I reached out using the yelp request estimate, and got a response after just one minute. Alex came out the next day and showed me the gutters, downspouts, and adaptors that his crew would be installing. He also showed the gutter guard system, which I ended up opting not to install--I did not feel upsold or pressured to add. I had some questions about the downspouts integrating into the drainage system we had installed to protect our grading/foundation, and Alex answered them. After considering my options, I signed the contract, and the LAB Exteriors crew came out in two business days to install the gutters. They finished the job in around 3 hours and fixed our issues with the overflowing gutters.
