REVIEW FOR YELP DREAM DESIGN The Dream Design Construction Team was Awesome! We wanted to remove the wall between the dinning room and kitchen to open up the space. We researched many, and obtained quotes from three contractors, one less expensive and one more expensive. Luckily, we decided on Dream Design Construction. Design We had a specific (non-conventional) design in mind, i.e. not the typical big island layout. Additionally, we wanted to add a full bath, a custom pantry, barn doors, and new kitchen windows, flooring etc. We stopped by Dream Design Construction and Yong engineered the design we envisioned that day! Allowing us to see it in 3D. He included things we had not thought of like a pot filler, and coffee bar area. The customized outcome is beautiful. Yong came out and took measurements to finalized the design plan. The Design becomes the Blue Print - - Note: Make sure when you sign the contract that you Know which cabinets will have drawers/ no drawers, pull outs, glass doors etc. or a change order may be required. Contract Their contract was very straight forward which helped us to sign quickly. It stated the price and allowances, installation, demo etc. Yong stated his goal is to ensure 100% customer satisfaction, and he honorably did so. Demo After emptying and packing up the kitchen - Demo was quick! The Team put up plastic zipper walls to cordon off the family room, foyer etc. to limit the amount of dust in other rooms, as well as covering vents. The wall between the dining room and kitchen came down! Mr. Nam was great . The team was here by 8 each day and made sure everything was put away each day and left it as tidy as possible. Construction The build out began and the first inspection was passed. I believe Mr. Nam was key to the success - following Yong Yi's drawing/plans Jose did a great job painting, especially the stove hood/vent - just beautiful. Tile Work is extremely beautiful both kitchen and bathroom. Mr. Nam worked hard in so many areas, requesting input for location of cabinet hardware and providing guidance for light switch locations etc. Mr. Lee framed the windows beautifully, and thankfully Bruce encouraged me to include multiple pendant chandeliers which look absolutely beautiful. Mr. Yong was Very easy to work with and assigned Mr. Kim to perform all the "Finishes" ensuring a perfect result. Final Walk thru/Result Inspection #2 The final walk-through and Inspection were flawless with 100% satisfaction! Just when you are tired of construction...you're done! The remodel was completed AHEAD of schedule, including our last-minute alternatives. BOTTOM LINE: EVERYTHING turned out impeccably beautiful! Dream Design was very accommodating with change items that did not affect the Design footprint-like adding an outlet and moldings for wine fridge, as well as barn doors. Josh Lee and his team were very professional and pleasant to work with from start to finish. Josh helped us create our patio and deck design. He assisted us in submitting our plan to HOA for approval. Any questions that we had were answered immediately. Dream design was also able to accommodate all the changes we requested. When taking on a big home project, securing the right person for the job is pivotal in bringing your vision to life. We are sharing our experiences with Mr Yong Yi, owner, and lead designer Sarah Lampazzi, from dream design construction.  We contacted them to get a kitchen estimate based on Yong Li's online company claim that he operates with integrity and honesty with his customers and based on his favorable online reviews. Yong and Sarah pursued my estimate inquiry aggressively and had a professional demeanor over the phone. They called and texted lots and Sarah came to our home.  I showed her the sample cabinet brand/color and provided a sample of the countertop we wanted. It was a very easy project. She asked questions and took little to no measurements. Weird. She showed what the countertop pattern would look like in our space, told us the work would take a month, answered questions about the fridge, sink, etc. She behaved and spoke as if she was agreeing and invested in the project. We explained that we had two other estimates for the project and asked her what the price would be. I outlined that I had a very good working knowledge of the approximate costs for the materials (I.e., cabinets and countertops). She said I'll let you know the price and send a design based on what we discussed tomorrow.  Then she asked if she could take photos of our kitchen and I said fine.  Days went by and no response was received. We tried calling her. No response.  We called the company receptionist and asked for a status update. No response was received. Then we emailed Yong Li, the owner and asked him to please let us know if he was or was not interested in doing the project. No response was received.  I'm attaching "before" photos of our outdated kitchen to show there was no horror show that justifies this extremely unprofessional company's behavior.  Sarah literally walked into our home and carried on very deceitfully, knowing that she was wasting our time and had no intention of doing anything that she said to us. sick. Very underhanded and disrespectful to act in bad faith, when Sarah and Yong Yi could have easily communicated that they were not interested in the project. So why are we writing this review? Because, it's important to show what this company is capable of and that there are risks if you do sign a legal contract with them.  This demonstrates a lack of class and sophistication and a level of double-dealing that occurred. It seems to be happening in a more prevalent way with some of these private, small construction companies.  In the construction world, a frightening scenario, known as "ghosting," happens when a contractor (e.g., Dream Design Construction) unexpectedly disappears during a project, ignores messages and does not fulfill their promises. Being ghosted by a contractor can be a concerning feeling, especially when you've already made any form of payment or even let them into your home and made verbal agreements with them prior to any payments. Helpful tips for those who may also run into a problem with Yong Li after making a payment, is to consult an attorney as a lawyer is crucial in navigating the complexities of a situation where a contractor has unexpectedly disappeared or gone silent during your project. Contact a legal professional specializing in contract law or construction law to learn your options. If you're facing a situation where this contractor has vanished without completing the work, filing a claim in small claims court is another proactive legal step you can take. Another option with a company owner with deception like, Mr. Yong Yi, and Sarah of Dream Design, is that when creating the contract, consider requiring a performance bond. A bond acts as a financial guarantee like insurance, securing the necessary funds to finish the project or compensate for the unfinished work. If you've paid a contractor, but they haven't completed their work, you may be able to make a claim against their bond. We are grateful that we never entered into business with Yong Yi due to him revealing his true unworthy character beforehand. Construction is a big $$$$$$$ expense and there is lots for the homeowner to worry about while the work is being carried out. Trust is ESSENTIAL when entering into a legal agreement with a contractor to tear your home apart and rebuild it.  Again, ghosting in construction is very common unfortunately. We wanted to highlight this Dream design Construction or Ghosting Contractor's lack of communication, unfulfilled promises and other pertinent aspects in online forum reviews.  This or worse could happen to you too. read more

Look at everything that is included in the work and add things you think you may want because later it will cost you. This is to update my husband previous review in March 2015 PUNCH LIST update: Once they were done we noticed a few things that needed to be addressed. The concerns were emailed to Yong Yi and I was amazed with the promptness to the issues. There still seemed to be a lot of debating with the workers although, in the end the work was completed to our expectation. Yi went above and beyond to make sure we were satisfied. We are incredibly satisfied with the work performed by Dream Design and are extremely excited with our beautiful new kitchen! From the beginning, Yong was incredibly responsive via email, phone, and text. The price/quote was comparable to two other companies, but we chose Dream Design based on reviews, the scope of the quote, the design, and how flexible and responsive he was to our ideas and desired projects. The remodel included gutting/reconfiguring the kitchen, replacing some windows, removing walls between dining room and living room, removing popcorn ceiling on our lower level family room and new flooring throughout the main level/lower level. Apart from a completely new kitchen (cabinets, recessed lighting, massive island, range hood), some extra things we had completed included running Ethernet cables, replacing light fixtures/fan, replacing outlets/switches/cover plates, and installing a water filtration system. This was a huge project, but it was completely finished in under 3 months. During demolition, a water leak was found and we had a drainage/structural team address and fix the foundation issue. Yong was incredibly flexible with holding off on completing this section of the house until it was fixed/inspected. Yong handled every other minor issue professionally and always kept me in the loop on progress. During the renovation, we lived upstairs and the team was very accommodating in closing off the upstairs with plastic/tape to mitigate the construction dust. Everyone on the team was professional, polite, and performed quality work. After each day, the team did a really good job cleaning and straightening up and this was much appreciated as we were still living in the house. At the end of the remodel, there were just few things we asked Yong to be touched up and this was addressed quickly. This was our first remodel, so there are a few things I'd recommend, to include knowing exactly what you want completed. Yong does a good job listing everything out, but I suggest walking around your space and really think about each thing you want done. Yong will do an awesome job with turning your ideas into something amazing. I would highly recommend this team and we actually are having them come back for some additional work upstairs. read more

Very responsive, and his workers were excellent! The whole renovation in one month! Even small changes at the last minute didn't phase them! Great company to work with! I took quotes from at least 5 contractors before I settled with Yong and Dream design. Rest of them were wither over priced or under skilled for the basement finish work I was looking for. Yong and his team were not just doing the work but also gave recommendations along the way in picking colors, faucets, doors etc. Most importantly, they were flexible to accommodate any changes requested while the work was getting done which I think is huge for home owners who are really not into construction and fully visualize the outcomes. We are very satisfied and happy with our newly finished basement/in-law suite. This was our first big renovation job so we were a little apprehensive about the whole process. We received several estimates and decided to go with Yong based on his quote and design ideas. During the initial design phase at his studio he provided several different layout options and even added few additional features at no extra cost. He made the whole process as seamless as possible. Like any big project we encountered some unforeseen issues but Yong and his crew were very quick and responsive to resolve them. We have 2 bedrooms and a long living area in our basement. The bedrooms were completely unfinished and the living area was finished but had an old carpet. I was looking for a contractor who could: 1. finish out the bedrooms including installing dry wall, lighting, doors, closets, electrical outlets etc. 2. carpet the entire basement area 3. install a full fledged wet bar with granite counter top and closets that match the décor of the kitchen in the main living area We were looking for a full service provider who could procure the materials, manage all the different contractors and perform the work overall. Yong U. Yi from Dream Design Construction LLC was one of the people that we had asked for an estimate. His estimate was in the mid-range among the quotes that we received. He stood out from the rest for us since he had a good rationale for his estimate and he gave us suggestions on how to improve the design within our budget. I had Dream Design Construction build a dry bar in my living room. As you can see, they really did a fabulous job!! It makes my house look 10 time more lux and customized. I get so many compliments every time people come over. We used off white cabinets. We also installed LED lights above the cabinets And they really make the whole bar an uplift! Dream design came by a few months ago to give me a free estimate on a window that needed replaced in the living room. It was old and leaking out all the cool air. I was skeptical of this company at first but when I found out they are licensed, bonded, insured, and offered financing, I gave them the job. After the first window was done, I went ahead and signed a new contract with them to get all 16 brand new windows installed. Great customer service. He gave a very accurate estimate of the job cost while also providing good ideas and insights into some of the design questions we had. His team of contractors was highly professional and courteous. They showed up every day, without fail. I was impressed by their reliability. The contractors are expert craftsmen and their attention to detail was impressive, whether it was building the walls and closets, laying the tile, or painting. Lastly, the price was very competitive.
