Fearful that the mall would be shutting down because of the increase in Covid cases I ventured to the Torrid at the Northridge mall for some returns. Thankfully I was able to return the items without a receipt since the wonderful staff went through all my past transactions on my VIP account. They went above and beyond to help me especially since I'm an avid shopper and have probably made 30+ purchases since Covid started. Every member helped me in some way. From the returns, going over new in-store dressing room policies, ordering an item online and finding another in a local store since it wasn't available online or in their inventory. Also like to commend the manager. Watching her train a team member on returns was uplifting. She was supportive to the trainee and maintained the utmost customer service to me while conducting the training. I've been to MANY torrid's across the US in my 18+ years shopping with the company. The team members are always kind and hospitable but today was an absolute highlight. Thank you for all your help! read more

Customer service is such crap here. I walked around with 20 items in my hand and no one asked if they could help me find a dressing room. Wanted some belts. One was missing from a set of three. They couldn't find a price so I couldn't buy them. Tried to return a dress that was ordered online 62 days ago and they have a 60 day return policy. Manager was like oh well, sucks to be you. I used to get greeted at the door, offered fitting rooms, and help... but now they partially make you BEG for assistance. The shop is A MESS! Love this place. I come here every so often to grab their sales like the BOGO FREE clearance or 60% off clearance. I only come here when one of the managers Francis is her name, is in because she gives fabulous fashion advice and always helps me find what I need. Other associates sometimes roll their eyes when I ask for a dressing room or for a bigger size but not her! One time I was looking for a bra but they didn't have my size on the floor. She went to the back took the time to look and found the size I needed. She also informed me that she could order for me online and have it shipped to the store if I wanted it in the nude shade (since we only found it in white). That kind of service is what keeps me coming back. She always goes above and beyond even when it's busy. I also feel like the store is cleaner when she's there. So my advice to you is coming in when she's here and ask her what you're looking for she will help out and make you feel special! Only suggestion I have is maybe going back to the old store look? I feel like the Reno is such a disservice for people like me (I'm 5'3) and I can't reach anything and when I ask associates I get nervous that they will fall from the raggedy stool they have. Maybe bring back the lower racks or get these ladies a fashion stick so they won't have to climb a step stool that looks shady af. read more

I just love the skinny jean options they have in store. I love that they have short so I can wear them without getting them altered. Wii's has that being said my biggest issue is the quality of the denim literally every pair of jeans I buy rips. When I brought it to the attention of the associate she basically said I must be washing them incorrectly?? Yes because I can't read ?!? I wish they had better quality for the jeans because this is the only place that has a selection that fitted what I'm looking for. Customer service could definitely improve the people work here just act like they could care less. Also don't ever try to return something past the 60 days or without the receipt the associates will just be straight up rude. Wish I could rate them better as they have a decent selection to choose from. read more

I love Torrid in general and this location is no different. They have really nice sales girls there who don't pressure you except for their usual first walk through the door. They offer to get rooms started for you right away and keep doing so. I didn't wander around with anything in my hands for very long because they kept putting my potential outfits in the fitting rooms. The clothes are always neat, folded and the fitting rooms are clean. The sizes are a bit different and maybe a few signs around the store would be helpful to remember what size you translate. They always have a nice selection of new items of both clothes, under garments and shoes. I wish I could shop here more often but they are a bit expensive. I bought a really pretty dress there for about $78 bucks which seems pretty standard but still is a bit rich for my blood. This kind of store makes you remember that a girl with curves can still look cute and fashionable. Sign up for their free rewards card and you can have coupons and deals emailed to you which is helpful. read more

Not very helpful I have to say :/ I also felt like as big as the store was it only had selections that looked liked business attire. Very strange the Torrid I shop online and in stores always has all kinds of styles to match every woman. The store is big and very clean I must say. The Northridge location is my local Torrid and in the past they've been somewhat helpful but this time they really disappointed me. I was looking for a dress that online said was not available and I went thinking there might be something similar. I found the dress i wanted there at this store but there was not my size. I tried it on and asked one of the workers there if I could have it shipped but that I needed it by this week. The worker didn't ask anyone just straight up said "no, it would arrive in two weeks." I left completely sad and disappointed and decided to go to Glendale to see what they have there. The minute I stepped in, a worker approached me, I told them my dilemma and she mentioned there was an option for overnight shipping, helped me out, and everything. Why is it that the Northridge worker did not know about overnight shipping? Seems like they are lagging it in the customer service area. read more

MY FAVORITE STORE-hands down!! Being on the thicker side is great, but finding nice clothes that fit how you want can be really tough and quite honestly depressing when trying! I was so happy i found Torrid, it has made shopping so easy-and not frustrating! I love the store and shopping online. All staff in-store and online are always so nice and helpful. It can be a little pricey, but there are always sales and their HAUTE cash provides really good deals/ discounts too. This place has really made it fun and easy to look nice and restored some pride about how i dress, as im sure its done for a lot of other females. i recommend Torrid for anyone ho has trouble finding clothes in their size (sizes from like a normal places Large up to 4x/5x!!!) read more

Horrible customer service. Waited for 40 minutes in a line at the register with only 1 person ahead of us. The customer ahead of us was being helped by the cashier who disappeared to the back for 30 minutes. No other team members on the floor but a rude employee who was supposedly "off the clock" but was on the phone on speaker walking around shopping and occasionally playing on the second register. I had to go knock on the door in the back before an employee came out. Then it was another 10 minutes of waiting before we abandoned our potential purchases and left the store. No apologies or acknowledgements. As a customer service supervisor at a different retail venue, I would fire these people. read more

I prefer shopping Torrid online because there's (obviously) more variety and no wait time. No matter what location I go to, I always seem to be waiting for extended amounts of time, no matter how many customers are actually in any given store. If you know your sizing, I advise everyone to just take their chances with ordering online and only go to stores when you need to return (which is what I happened to be doing on the Friday afternoon when I ventured to the Northridge location). This particular store didn't have a friendly staff. No one made eye contact and when I waited at the sales point, I saw at least two employees who didn't acknowledge me and kept doing whatever it is that they were doing. Even if they weren't on register or didn't have the ability to handle a return, it would have been nice to be told that while I wait for the salesperson who can. I'm not one of those shoppers who needs to be greeted at the door or offered help while shopping but if I'm waiting in line, I expect for someone to ring me out so I can make my purchase and go about my day. The space itself is smaller than other Torrids I've been to. They had some cute clothes but the dressing room area was a bit messy and could use an update of some kind. Also, the staff seems unorganized. When I was there, a couple came in to pick up an item they had placed on hold only to be told that they no longer had the item. I LOVE TORRID! They have very sweet and friendly staff. Always welcoming me with a smile. But one particular staff member, Francis made my day. Let me tell you she was so helpful and catered to my EVERY need. Not only that but she even suggested things for me to try on rather then just bringing me the size I was asking for. I come here all the time, I come here so frequently that I made friends with some of the associates which are no longer there now there are 4 new girls ... But I just left that store in disgust!!! For the first time that store was dirty!!!!!!!!!!! Clothes,trash and price tags were on the floor from the minute I walked in, it was never in that condition. And in the undergarments section there were underwear all over the top of the table and un-organized. All the new girls that are there didn't greet anyone, let alone help I must say this place sucks !! I just got an outfit and walked out. I didn't bother looking around for anymore items normally it takes me anywhere from 45min to an Hour but today was more like 20 in and out !!! I think torrid has the best selection of sexy ass clothes. I went in for the first time a few months ago and was pleasantly surprised by their selection of styles, fabrics and designs. I am an artist and after one visit to this store with my wife, I am in love. My wife needed a dress for an outdoor wedding in Tahoe and we found a perfect one. I love the clothes that they sell because it's for plus size ladies with a modern artistic cool taste. The two ladies at the cash register were especially nice and helpful. I believe one of them had a tattoo of Betty Boop or a pinup girl (her sleeve was covering most of it) and colored hair. She resembles the beauty and embodies the style of this store. I don't know if its the store or the site or what, but I am NEVER notified when an order arrives. I have to call and find out multiple times to see if its come in. This has happened at least 3 times and is getting really frustrating. I am an huge fan of Torrid! I'd say a good 90% of my wardrobe is from Torrid and I love the brand. However, the low rating is due to the customer service experience I had a few days ago. I am usually an online shopper. With online shopping comes a variety of weird fitting sizes or "eh that doesn't look great on", which in turn, means RETURNS. Being the forgetful person I am, sometimes I lose receipts or leave them at home. Typically when this has happened in the past I have brought clothes into the store, with the tags still on them, and exchanged OR get store credit if I can't find anything. However, this time around I had a very difficult time getting the store credit. I brought 2 items back to the store that I didn't want anymore. I didn't have the original receipt, but I had the online receipt of my purchase in my email. The woman (who I think was the manager?) that helped me told me that I would not be able to receive store credit because I didn't have my original receipt. I was confused and asked if that was a new policy since I have been able to get store credit in the past many times. She said, usually that is not allowed. When a friend of mine pointed out to me that the store policy (that they have out right in front of the register) says you can get store credit if you don't have an original receipt I mentioned that to the sales associate. She then responded by saying it's "at the manager's discretion" and she would give me store credit "this one time". I was so incredibly irritated and felt that I was being treated poorly. She made it seem as if the store NEVER gives store credit for returned items and if I didn't have my original receipt (even though I had an email receipt) she would not be able to help me at all and would be sending me out of the store with the same items I came in with even though I no longer wanted them. Like i said, I love Torrid and have usually had a good experience, but I was pretty annoyed after this experience. I don't think I'll be making anymore trips to this Torrid sadly, and hope no one else has the same issue at this location. read more
