This is my neighborhood pizzeria so I've been coming here for years. I also think it's been here for decades, when the neighborhood was mostly Italian Americans. It's a family style pizzeria where you feel like an Italian American family is cooking for you at their home. The restaurant is clean, welcoming and with great service. I always get the Margarita pizza but the garlic knots are good and so is the plain pizza. The pasta is only ok but the quantity is huge and they serve you at your table. The tomato sauce on the pizza is garlicky and delicious and the crust is a good combination of crusty and doughy. It's not going to be the best pizza you've ever had in your life but given the price, ambience and quality, it's definitely my go-to pizzeria in Brooklyn. read more

Ordered a pepperoni pizza here for super bowl 46 and all I can say is, this pizza has an OKAY taste to it. I really like the crust. It wasn't too chewy nor was it hard and dry. The crust of the pizza tasted great buuuut there was wayy too much oil on the pizza. I used almost 3 napkins to blot the oil off from the pizza and in the end, all the napkins soaked through with oil. This place is not really an Italian restaurant. Yes, they serve Italian food. And yes the sign says so. But anyone who sees the place can tell that it's a typical Brooklyn style pizzaria. You know the kind of you grew up with if you grew up in Bensenhurst. This is not a high class joint but it's really damn good at what it is so I have to defend it from the one start review. Torres is my neighberhood pizzaria. Since it is within walking distance this is the place I go to whenever I wanna order pizza or food and don't want to bother driving. My review is based on numerous orders over the past two years. They make great Brooklyn style pizza. I don't usually get their slices as I opt for a mini-pizza or a regular pizza if I have guests. My favorite is the vodka sauce, it's really good. One of the best pizza's I've had. In terms of their non-pizza food, what I've had has been good. Their sandwiches (meatball parmigiane, chef's special chicken) are better then any subway/quiznos place. Their pastra (baked ziti, penne with vodka sauce) has always had pleanty of sauce and has been warm and cooked well. Their appetizer mozzerella sticks have been good as well. Their calzones are filled with cheese. And their parmiagian chicken rolls are something you can't go wrong with. They also have a lunch special until 3:00 P.M. with a number of things I mentioned above at cheaper prices. It always seems like the same guys are working there and they're really nice and friendly (but then I've been there so many times they recognize me by now!) My only complaint is that their buffalo chicken wings aren't that great. Not spicy at all. But really I just got them cause I wanted some wings and this was the only place to even have any within walking distance. read more

Don't be fooled by the lower rating! There not very friendly, if you ask something like how much longer, but they cook everything right. No matter how many times they get testy with you, the food is always better then anywhere else you can order around here. I've only gotten delivery and it's been perfect every time! When I see the delivery guy, it just brightens up my day and I'm so super happy and extra nice that he must think I'm weird, but he's like my hero. It's all about that pizza and it's damn good! My favorite is the grandma pie with extra pepperoni. The crust has a nice snappy crunch with a stable foundation of dough that isn't too thick or greasy. The amount of cheese is so well proportioned to the chunky roasted tomato sauce and the basil gives it such a nice touch of freshness. Nom nom nom. I just love it! This is the best hole in the wall restaurant in the area. The prices are amazing to the point that I got a filling meal with an appetizer, drink, and a huge slice of pizza for less than 10 dollars. The Greek salad was amazing, my only complaint is I am not huge into seeded olives. Wish they didn't have the seeds. The feta cheese melts in your mouth...it's so good. I ordered the grandma slice with fresh mozzarella, basil, and tomato sauce. It was the kind of pizza where you are forcing yourself to eat it slow and cherish it. POOR BUSINESS PRACTICES It's quite simple really. The food is fine for what it is. A good old fashioned Brooklyn Pizzeria. The problem doesn't lie in the food. Well, it did once. I ordered several things to split and share with a friend, as I usually did at least twice a month, as I live around the corner and across the street from the place. One of these things was the Chicken Fiorentina. After eating some of the chicken breast and a few fork-fulls of spinach, I spotted a very large black beetle, about 1.5 - 2 inches in length. It did not appear to be a typical food establishment basement variety bug. It looked more like a herbivorous beetle you might find in the garden where the spinach was grown. Now, it's very possible that it got into the bag when the spinach was packaged. This led me to draw two conclusions. 1. The spinach was not washed before it was cooked. If it were, I would imagine the cook would have noticed a big black bug in the bright green leaves. 2. If that was the case and the spinach was not rinsed or inspected at all before it was cooked and used to make a dish, what else was being overlooked in the kitchen regarding cleanliness and/or food safety. Either way, the real problem was after I found my little friend. I called in to let them know. I did not intend to make a big deal about it. I was apologized to and asked if I wanted something else, but in utter disgust, disappointment, and now loss of my appetite, I declined that offer. I told him it wasn't that big a deal, these things happen, but I am no longer hungry. He then asked me if I wanted to send it back. I accepted that thinking that he would maybe give me back the $15. that I spent on the plate as both a good business practice, and because I ordered from them quite frequently. The delivery guy came, took the tin, and said goodbye. I asked him if he had money to give to me, to which he replied no. I waited a few minutes and called back, at which point the guy on the phone tells me that he looked through the food I sent back and he didn't see anything. I asked him why he didn't reimburse me, to which he replied audaciously, "well, there isn't any bug in here, so I'm not giving you your money back just because you didn't want the food" If there was an option for less than 1 star, that's what this place would have gotten. The guy had an arrogant, condescending attitude toward someone who has been eating there for over 15 years, who didn't make as much of a spectacle as I realized I should have. In fact, I didn't make a spectacle at all. I told the son of a bti#% that it was OK, and that I order from there all the time, and this is the first time something like this has happened. I was a regular here for three steady years . Yes the food is almost always good! Good pizza , salads and soup. Although the soups are Extremely salty. I'm giving it two stars only because the food is tasty but it's very bad at servicing their patrons. I've been a very steady customer for years and about 8 months ago we were eating here and we saw within minutes of each other 3 roaches on the wall. it's a great pizza place in bensonhurst. i had walked by this place many times on my way to rimini, but i never thought to try it. the stars aligned when i went biking with friends from out-of-town. after several hours of navigating from midwood to prospect park then to breezy point then to bensonhurst, we were hungry. we tried many of their pizzas - we liked the basil and tomato, vodka sauce, eggplant, and plain. the staff was really nice - we were afraid that our bikes would be stolen if we locked them outside so they made space inside and we ate next to our bikes. i came back another time to make sure that the pizzas were not just good because of our hunger. they did not disappoint - it's definitely my favorite pizza place in the area. read more

I think the pizza here has the classic New York Italian pizza taste. I've had a few different combinations of toppings including pepperoni, Italian sausage, and an array of vegetables including broccoli. Broccoli definitely was different, but it was not my favorite. Their pasta dishes are satisfying although only maybe a notch above what you'd expect from pizzeria pasta. The chef's special chicken dish is good if you like very heavy, creamy vodka sauce. I have never been inside this restaurant because all I do is order a delivery. My favorite pizza from this place is the Funiculi Funicula. I love the taste of this pizza although its $21! I ordered a pie of that during the superbowl and when I received the pie, it was smaller than usually which I got pissed because its $21 and it shrunk 3 inches.
