This was my first time eating Turkish cuisine and it was fantastic! I definitely recommend getting the hummus and the grape leaves to start!

As a person of Turkish origin, I was extremely disappointed with this Turkish Restaurant. The quality of the ingredients they use, as well as they prepare classic Turkish dishes are well below what I would expect. Why? Here are the problems we had, on a dish-by-dish basis: Bread / pide - Many Turkish restaurants bring freshly baked pide. The pide they brough was stale, dry and clearly reheated. Manti - Classic manti is prepared with garlic yoghurt with a tomato / spice mix that is prepared with butter. They prepared this dish with regular yoghurt, and worse, the tomato sauce is just a diluted ketchup or tomato paste (more on this later). The spice mix was also of very poor quality. Both my wife and daughter could not finish it. Iskender Kepab - This is supposed to be the signature doner (gyro) dish. It is also supposed to be prepared with a real tomato / butter sauce. This dish had neither. Again, what we had as tomato sauce was simply diluted tomato paste, not a sauce made from real grated tomatoes. Doner Kebap - Being utterly disappointed with the Iskender Kepab, I did something I rarely do: sent the dish back, and asked for plain doner. This doner was so salty that I could not eat it. Pilav / Rice - The proper way to make pilav is to use butter (or at least olive oil) along with chicken stock. The pilav they brought had neither and tasted very bland. This is my spot to go to when craving Mediterranean food!! They have the best food in town! Love the Shepard's salad, and the Turkish bread is delicious! I don't really like bread but this bread is delish! The chicken kebabs are tender and juicy! My boyfriend loves the appetizer liver and the lentil soup! Everything is in large portions definitely sharing size, but we always take the leftovers for lunch the next day! Must stop by if you're craving Turkish cuisine!! read more

This Tukish restaurant is a hit and miss with some items. They have great service but the food isn't that amazing. My husband ordered the chicken in yogurt and the yogurt was overpowering the dish way too much. I ordered the lamb gyro plate which was also okay just the regular doner you could get anywhere. The main dishes are too overpriced for the portion sizes they give you. The bread came out burnt. The waiter took my husband's plate away even though he was still eating. Service was good overall they apologized and brought the plate back. read more

I hate to give only 2 stars as I am a long time customer 10 yrs + . But the quality of food and service has gone down consistently . Some of the waitresses are so nice , while others are just straight up rude and try to rush out . I have been getting the Turkish breakfast for many years . It has had small changes through the course of time but the contents have generally stayed the same . The only major change has been the price , it went from a five dollar breakfast to a nine dollar breakfast which is perfectly fine if there were some substantial changes or an upgrade in the quality of the food but there is none, same plate for four more dollars. I still get it every now and then when I'm opting for a healthier breakfast but I gotta say I'm more disappointed than pleased , especially this morning . I ordered spinach borek and a breakfast . I asked for no salami but instead another piece of feta . Once I get back to my office to eat I noticed that they gave me an tiny extra piece of feta, and charged me $4.00 for it making my breakfast a total of $13.00 and some change . Money is never an issue with food , but I am no dummy I know what food costs . I also got the spinach borek which was borderline un-edible , since the bottom was burnt to a crisp . I think I'll stick with the hazel st Toros. They are a lot nicer and the food is always good. read more

I've been to the bigger location, and I have no complaints about that one. I do have a complain about this location, first of all, I was received in the restaurant by an arrogant and unwelcoming waitress. The first thing that came out of her mouth was: " Do you have a reservation ?!" , we replied no , so she proceeded to say we would have to share with people or we would have to get a table sitting next to each other. I've never felt so out of place and uncomfortable going to a restaurant just for take out. This was a take out order 7am. I was asked what I wanted to order, it was just 2 scrambled eggs the cook in the back got really pissed off because I ordered this. This place is right by my house and every time I would pass it, it smells amazing! Finally went in today and ordered a combination platter and I have to say it was delicious! The grilled tomato was yumm and so was the fresh salad! The meat was well seasoned and tender. Have to say everything was perfect. This will definitely be added to my takeout rotation (maybe once a month as it is very pricey but worth it). Do yourself the favor and try this place out! read more

I used to love this place. I went here recently for my friends birthday. I ordered etli bamya, and it was absolutely disgusting. It came out 45 minutes before everyone else's food. I could tell it was old and not fresh at all. The wait staff was rude and only attending to people around us who happened to look "turkish", coincidentally. As a Turkish person I know what good kebab is and this place is excellent! Their decoration is authentic without being tacky and the food and the service is consistently good. The liver is one of the best I've ever had. Iskender kebab and lamb kebab are divine too. Definitely one of the best Mediterranean restaurants you can find. read more

Authentic fresh charcoal grill cooked halal Turkish kabobs makes any evening splendid. I've come here many times, and have been impressed with the fresh out of the oven bread served with every meal, the fresh-out-of Turkey waitresses, and not to forget impressive BabaGhanouj (a roasted eggplant side). As close to authentic Turkish you can get without leaving the country. Seating is a little compacted, but cozy. read more

Rude staff. I asked if there is Kunefe and they said no in an impolite manner. The one outside who is parking the car got angry on us because we parked. We didn't know he is the one who parks. Disappointed. The manager should teach the staff how to act professionally. I will not come back again. read more

Toros is conveniently located in Patterson (A.K.A little Turkey) and has its own parking space. Their doner plate as well as Iskender kebap are phenomenal. My friend and I fell in love with their cold appetizers such as hummus and eggplant paste. My only issue with this tiny restaurant is their service which tends to be a bit sluggish and should definitely be improved! read more

I was really excited to come to toros since I had heard so much about it from friends but was utterly disappointed today when I ate there. I guess the service was fine but the food was just so bland! I tried asking for some sauces but the waitress said they only have tobasco, which is a first for me because I eat Turkish food very often and they always have great sauces which come with the meal. I have been there a few times for dinner or lunch. The quality used to be better but has been on a decline. This is one of the oldest Turkish restaurants in the area. I think that is why it has been popular. The food is served in decent portions. Most dishes are bland. The soup and salad are lacking seasoning. Kebabs are not marinated well. Presentation of the dishes are nothing notable compared to some better restaurants in the area. The prices are reasonable but still not worth the visit. Toros restaurant has a great breakfast menu, breakfast plate is my favorite. Foods have real turkish kitchen taste and very delicious. The Staff is very friendly and helpful. There is a pretty big parking area and very easy in and out. read more

We went there as a family upon recommendation. We had only one day in NJ as tourists and wanted to eat real Turkish food in a good place. The restaurant is so small, the decoration is good, the food was let's say ok, but not as we expected. We ate Adana kebab with yoghurt and pirzola adana. The bread was old, the glasses were dirty, the salads were prepared so simple! We asked for babaganush but what they brought to us was old eggplant and yoghurt mix. The reasons i gave one star to this place are the staff were not kind, and a bit rude. Even if they saw us we entered with a baby and carried her on our lap, no one offered us an eating chair for the baby until my husband took one. They dont have diaper change table in the bathroom, so i definitely do not recommend to a family with small kid or baby. Until after finishing our lunch, no one asked us if we need anything, or how things were going! Then, they even did not bring receipt, so my husband had to go to cashier to ask for receipt. Of course to pay that we waited a bit longer! Poor gold fishes were swimming in a brown foggy water which was cleaned years ago! Decorations and picture frames were dusty! Moreover, the way the table was set and clened get ZERO star. Nothing was arranged in the table. For the hygene, NOBODY was wearing gloves while preparing the food. And in the rest room, spider webs, electrical wires were hanging from the ceiling, there were dust, pieces of toilet paper everywhere, there was dirt ..... in the sink, apparently NOT cleaned VERY OFTEN. If you do not know what real Turkish food is and want to pay tons of money for simple food and bad service, you can go there! But if we come to NJ again, we will definitely NOT go to Toros restaurant again. I am sure there are better places there. Definitely I do not recommend! read more
