My favourite that I tried was the Lava Roll followed by the Aburi Syake Oshi... The Lobster roll is all over the gram but I wasn't a huge fan of it.. the rice base is firmer than id like and the flavours didn't stand out... it has a dryer texture The salmon tacos were tasty.. love the simple ingredients and the textures.. can't go wrong with Sushi Tacos This place has some traditional sushi along with premium sushi like the lobster tower with 24k gold leaf and Aburi.. Even with the beautiful contemporary packaging and aesthetic the prices are very reasonably priced and worth a try! read more

What a beautiful and delicious piece of art! Tried ToroToro today by ordering through a third party delivery platform, The packaging felt like I just got a nice perfume or a high-end watch! Only to open it and find those beautiful, hand crafted, elegant gems! Not only they look good and appetizing, they taste amazing! The ingredients are so fresh, and the protein and veggies are premium and delicious. I ordered the following and i'd give a 10/10 for each item: miso soup, lobster and shrimp tacos, the empress, dynamic futomaki, Philadelphia maki and crispy futomaki read more

This is by far hands down the best sushi I had so far in Toronto better than ikon sushi bar, we got the tasting box which came with 40 piece of sushi which enough for two people, it had salmon sashimi one of the best sashimi ever the fish tasted so fresh, my favourite was the salmon tacos oh my god, the shell was crispy and the salmon melts in your mouth there's some heat which hits in the back of the throat, with the jalapeño, there was two aburi which was the torched sushi I believe it just melts in your mouth then they put the caviar when it pops it's a completely different flavour and elevates the palette, and the way they present the sushi with the fancy box I think that's why this place is known for their takeout boxes, the sushi looks like a painting in be to so many sushi places and not one of them are even half as good as this place, service was a bit slow but there were so many people it's understandable, this is the perfect cheat meal, this is a wow factor, I even told the guy who took my orde this was best sushi I ever tasted, I wanted to try this place but never got the chance today was my chance and I have a smile on my face, I'll just come here for the box, i savaged through this sushi, my favourite was the salmon tacos so different like a fushion, the aburi sushi was wow you get that torched flavour, and it melts in your mouth, I like the caviar when it pops amazing flavour, I want to come back here to try the other variety of sushi, but this was it bad you get a variety of them if this is your first time coming here, read more

I saw the good reviews and wanted to try this shop for myself. When I walked in someone was leaving with takeout and someone was waiting for take out. They do have seating, but it seems that this spot does a lot of take out. When ordering the cashier was super helpful in accommodating and checking to make sure what I ordered was vegan. For 3 rolls of 6 pieces each I paid $22. It was presented really nicely and was really delicious. If I lived closer I'd go back again and again. read more

Great takeout sushi place that is decently priced. The packaging was also nice and convenient for eating on the go. I really liked the scallop roll. The lava roll which is spicy salmon looked good but fell a bit flat in terms of flavour. Will be back to try other rolls and menu items like the poke bowls! read more

Presentation! Skills! Dedication! Taste! Great place for premium sushi, maki, nigiri, sashimi! Aside from it being in such a crowded plaza and hard to find a parking spot close to the shop, everything else from service to pickup and food quality were top notch! Highly recommend everyone to pre-order before heading over! read more

Definitely overhyped and over priced. Toro toro is a completely a la cart menu offering a variety of rolls and pressed sushi. This place is unfortunately a quantity over quality type of restaurant. They care more about pushing out volume than the actual taste. We ordered the famous lobster tower and the fried sushi rice was completely stale and tasted like it sat there for days. The lobster on top didn't have much flavour. It broke apart when you tried to pick it up and tasted like mush on mush. Was not a pleasant texture. The pressed sushi rice was heavy and dense. There was so much rice but did not hold well. It fell apart when you pick it up. The rice honestly tasted like rice you cook at home, when it's just ready and mushy. Their presentation is probably the best part. But even then, ours only came in regular take out box. Not the ones pictured in the nice display boxes. This only furthered the unpleasant experience, By far the most disappointing sushi experience I've ever had. Would not recommend. Definitely not worth the drive. If you're in the area and want to try... you're in for an expensive, disappointing experience. read more

After many months of seeing Toro Toro on Instagram and Tiktok, I had to indulge! I ordered 4 rolls: Kirin Futomaki, The Forbidden, Tataki Maki, and the Crouching Tiger. We pre-ordered the night before to pickup at 6pm and it was ready earlier than our set time. The counter was FILLED with takeout bags, and employees were working super hard. It's definitely popular for a reason. I am a sushi fanatic and have never experienced rolls as innovative as these. One of them had lemon zest and I actually enjoyed the contrast with the fish. My favourite was the Kirin Futomaki, the crispy yam strings added texture and sweetness to the roll. I loved the other rolls as well, they travelled pretty nicely in the car as the boxes are packed tightly. Is it overrated? My genuine answer is no; the price-point is very appropriate to what you get and the packaging is undeniably aesthetic. You can taste the difference in the rice and fish from a cheaper sushi place. The box is correct when it says perfectly seasoned rice! Will definitely be visiting here again. read more

I was looking for a place that was close to home that offered sushi burritos. Touro Touro what is the closest place but I have never been to it before although it has a very high rating on yelp. Since there has been a lot of reviews before on dining in, I decided I would rate them on my take out experience. I placed an order online as per the reviews, so it saved time. I didn't get the best customer service ordering by phone. I think it was due to the background noise and my American accent that some people say that I have when I speak. The first person that I spoke with immediately gave the phone to someone else after their very first "What?". They never told me to hold on or anything. So I found myself repeating myself for no apparent reason. Then repeating again after the person on the phone got 50% of what I was saying incorrect, which included my telephone number and last name wrong 3x each. ‍ The food was actually very good. You could taste the quality as well. The portions were a little smaller than what I was used to from my usual sushi spot though. But it stopped me from over eating IMO. I LOVVVVVVE SUSHI !! The prices were slightly higher than my usual place too. My usual spot (locally owned) rewards people with large orders with something small on the house but I think Toro Toro is a chain so I didn't expect anything on the house. The interior was quaint and busy when I walked inside, so I knew it was going to be a treat or everyone was lying lol. But what I loved was their packaging, it stands out among every other sushi place that I have ever been to within the US, Canada, or any other 32 countries across the globe. I used to be an Asst Marketing Manager for a billion dollar company and we focused on packaging. Toro Toro Sushi has their packaging and marketing done right! I had the lobster tower and it was quite good. I wouldn't have realized it was lobster from the actual taste though. The fried rice at the bottom was a nice touch. My son ordered the sushi burrito because I raved about it from a different restaurant. He said it was AMAZING AND I HAD TO TRY IT NEXT TIME! I will be back to try the sushi tacos and the sushi burrito. But we will eat inside next time and see how the service is for Toro Toro. read more

Saw the cool presentation and menu which attracted me here. The sushi didn't disappoint There is so much variety to choose from I love 'the forbidden' roll great texture and a hint of torched taste. The lobsters tower is a must try if you like 'fan jui' you know that layer of crispy rice the forms at the bottom of clay pot rice and the top is nice lobster mixture. The aburi is good I would have liked more sauce but good nonetheless, will be back to try the rest. read more

This has to be my new favourite sushi restaurant in the GTA. I have seen people visiting this restaurant on Instagram and was initially intrigued by the presentation of their food and their beautiful rolls. I wasn't sure whether to think this place was overhyped so I was so excited when I was able to try it for myself. I entered their Mother's Day Suki Box giveaway and was ecstatic to have won! I picked up the Suki box at 3pm and let's just say, the people working there looked SO busy. Everyone was working so hard and you could tell it was going to be a busy evening. But anyways, let's get into the review of the food Presentation: 12/10. I have never seen sushi look SO beautiful before. The box it came in was so sturdy and wrapped in a beautiful red ribbon. The sushi was laid out beautifully. From the sashimi roses to the edible flowers, to the rolls shaped like little petals - everything was almost too beautiful to eat. Food: The sushi was EXTREMELY fresh and each of the rolls were unique and delicious in their own way. I loved that the box came with soya sauce and spicy mayo because I am huge fan of spicy mayo. I would say this box is perfect for 3-4 people even though I would love to eat this all by myself. Conclusion: I will 100% be coming back here for sushi. It is worth the 30+ minute drive from home and cannot wait to try out more of their menu. read more

Felt like a fast food type place, which I was aware of from reading other reviews. The packaging and aesthetics are on point though! My favorite was the Forbidden roll - would get that one again! The embellishments (the crunchy flakes) on the Fantasy roll were a bit overpowering and took away from the scallop flavor. The Aburi hamachi oshi didn't feel that special relative to other places. read more

Many good things to write about this place. First off, clean interior with nice friendly staff. Quite patient and willing to answer any questions I had about the menu. Their menu is online, so you scan a QR code to access it. I actually found it a bit hard to order looking at the website just because I had to scroll through multiple pages and making me unsure what rolls had what inside etc, but thats just my own personal preference! Food: Toro Toro Poke 4/5 - good amount of sauce, would opt for on the side as I tend to prefer my poke with less of the mayo like consistency sauces, which they used. Flavourful though, and heavy on the kewpie. - big chunks of salmon, torched and marinated well - comes with edemame, pineapple chunks, and i believe some pickled daikon, some crispy stringy bits, and a few other things. The menu doesnt explain what comes with each poke bowl other than the protein, so it was a bit confusing on that aspect and i didnt want to bombard them with each and every single item. - lots of rice, well cooked and seasoned nicely Forbidden Roll 5/5 - sweet and citrusy notes coming through - torched butterfish very fragrant and gave a nice creaminess to the roll - good amount of rice to filling ratio Fantasy Roll 5/5 - spicy mayo forward seasoning - nice torched scallop on top - overall balanced roll, classic flavours with good ratio of rice to filling Aburi Unagi Oshi 3.5/5 - good amount of unagi sauce and flavour profile - unagi was present but I can use a bit more - the pressed pieces were larger than i am used to, which own preference, i would prefer the smaller pieces (but not complaining!) - overall good taste, but average compared to the others - rice well cooked and seasoned Lava Roll 4/5 - another solid roll. Good amount of heat from the mayo and torched salmon - nothing too out of the ordinary as the base itself was a simple roll with (i believe) avocado and crab meat. still good Sunkiss 5/5 - very refreshing - good amount of well chiffonade cuts of filling - a different take and away from the rice that is in all their other rolls - good alternative! Cant wait to go back and try their other specialty items. Their rolls are definitely worth trying in my opinion. read more

Definitely worth all the social media hype. Easily one of my favourites. Great service, beautiful packaging. Called in and after several unsuccessful attempts to place my order in the app and get them on the phone, I finally reached them, and found out the reason I couldn't place an order was because they're at full capacity for the day (this was at 2 PM!) and have stopped taking orders, but I explained it was my birthday and I've been waiting to try this for a while now; the girl on the phone was really sweet and made an exception and fulfilled my order. I was really happy with the packaging and presentation. Beyond that, the sushi were great, the dynamite roll and lobster tower were so good! Will definitely go back. read more

We had take out from Toro Toro Sushi as a weekend treat and my goodness did it exceed my expectations! It is clear that the owners of this establishment took great care in tailoring a luxurious experience from when start to finish. Bags, usually mundane and nothing to write home about, but the take out bags from Toro Toro Sushi was made with thick paper, making it a great candidate to reuse or up-cycle. The sushi and poke were bursting to the seams with flavour! It was some of the best I have had in the GTA area. The fish was fresh and there was a solid amount of toppings for the poke. You'll find Toro Toro Sushi tucked away in the plaza across Vaughan Mills Mall, with ample parking (and tons of bubble tea/dessert options is a boon as well)! read more

Been seeing Toro Toro Sushi almost every day on IG for the last couple of months and FINALLY I got to try today! Service was very quick and efficient - I placed my order online at 11:45 AM for pick-up at 2 PM and my order was ready at exactly 2 PM. I was a bit worried after reading some reviews about orders being delayed lol. Hubby and I were most excited for their torched sushi and we were not disappointed. I LOVED the salmon torched sushi and his favourite was the eel torched sushi - highly recommend getting both if you are going for torched sushi :P It was just a bit annoying to eat because the torched sushi broke apart so easily. The maki rolls were unique compared to other restaurants - beautifully presented and amazing combinations of ingredients. My favourite is the Crunching Tiger! Everything was fresh and amazing! I loved the packaging too! So sturdy and convenient for take-out. You definitely gotta check Toro Toro Sushi out if you haven't! read more

Only managed to try Toro Toro on my third visit. First time - they didn't accept orders (pre-orders only) Second time - they were closed (but still open? - I managed to open the door and get in) Third time - called ahead to make sure I can come and finally made it! Loved the selection on the menu as there is a wide variety to choose from. We ordered over $80 of sushi and managed to finish it all. I would've loved if this place were an AYCE. The quality is great. Packaging is great. Some prices are a little expensive (such as for the merch) but for the sushi itself I don't mind the high price because I can taste the quality and freshness. I'd recommend this place to anyone. Amazing and fresh sushi. Placed the order the day before and order was ready when I picked it up the next day. Enjoyed the nice packaging of the sushi and that they were made of paper. We ordered several rolls to try out. Although the rolls are a little smaller than other places, it was filling. The shogun futomaki was my favourite. The forbidden roll was interesting with mango in it. It wasn't for me as I prefer mango as a dessert than in my sushi. Will order less rolls with sauce on it next time as it became a little too heavy to eat. The soya sauce that they provided was also unique, it has a sweet and tangy flavour to it. read more
