Really great first experience at Toro Toro! This spot is quite busy and the interior is so nice and modern. I think this is a great spot value wise. The sushi is yummy, made with a variety of ingredients, and placed in a nice box. I didn't find it to be the best sushi I ever tasted, but it's really great for the price you pay! I tried the aburi unagi oshi, tataki roll, and lava roll. They were all delicious - highly recommend trying all of these! read more

Ordered again from ToroToro sushi! Ordered 8 rolls and 2 lobster and shrimps tacos. I'm thoroughly impressed by the sushi. The taste and presentation were phenomenal. Saying the sushi melts in your mouth is an understatement. I will definitely be back even if I am not in the area. Yes, it takes me a 25 minute drive to get there. .... And I will not hesitate to travel there again for this wonderful establishment. read more

Toro Toro by the mall, have you the coolest sushi of 'em all? Sometimes the oishii hype is real, even if it's campaigned on IG or TikTok. I have encountered peeps on the other side of town with Toro Toro takeout! Keep in mind the #Six is no small town. Just be ready for a long wait, though you can wait at Vaughan Mills mall. It isn't an average sushi stop; it's a creative takeout destination instead. I kicked myself for not trying their sushi box set at the grand opening; that was presented like an impeccable bed of flowers. Poké bowls are refreshing with mango, kamaboko, ponzu / lemon garlic aioli, and good proteins such as lobster, shrimp or seared salmon. Sushi burritos are similar tho nothing to write home about. Something a little fancier? Kirin Futomaki roll with crispy yam strings is eye-catching, though it could be crispier. Some other intricate rolls even have 24k flakes. A trio of sushi tacos in crunchy shells is quite bold with seasoned fish & jalapeño on top. Small umami bites. How about truffle yam fries? Why, yes please! Their packagings are pristine, with a red seal of freshness as an aesthetic touch. Due to Toro Toro's popularity, I've only picked up by ordering ahead on Uber Eats. I preferred this method after many folks complained about hour long waits for their call-in orders. However recently they have closed peak hour app use while business booms. Fair enough, but I ain't gonna go back till this initial craze ends! read more

New sushi hot spot in Vaughan that popped up during the pandemic! Located just outside Vaughan Mills Mall, Toro Toro mainly does takeouts, and now has the option to dine-in. Order from the counter, and get the food when they call out your order number. There is no table service, so you do need to throw your own garage out when you're done. Food will still be served to you in their signature black takeout boxes, and they will provide paper plates for dine in. We ordered the Kirin Futomaki, The Forbidden, Salmon Tacos, Aburi Syake Oshi for dine in, and 2 sushi burritos to go. Quality and presentation are on point. Hope to try their nigiri sushi next time! read more

I've seen these beautiful arrangements on Instagram and have been following Toro Toro religiously since they first opened. Their style of sushi is definitely more lavish than my usual go-to so I've been looking for the right occasion to try them out. The PERFECT PAIR TASTING BOX is what finally convinced me. This tasting Box includes: 6PC Salmon Sashimi 3PC Aburi Syake Oshi 3PC Aburi Maguro Oshi 4PC Shrimp Summer Rolls 4PC Tataki Maki 4PC Fantasy Maki 4PC Forbidden Maki 4PC Crouching Tiger 2PC Teriyaki Flame 2PC Lava Roll 2PC Atomic 2PC Salmon Sushi Tacos As well, you receive two complimentary regular sized bubble teas from The Alley's milk tea series with 1 topping! (Which must be claimed on the same day). Not only is this the most aesthetic sushi I've ever had, but each piece is so well thought out in terms of its components. This leads to a roll so full of flavor and texture! I was surprised by the uniqueness of each and loved that there were many spicy tasters with a nice crunch. You may think this place is on the pricier side, but it really gives a unique tasting experience. Available for $63 pls tax. Only available till May 23rd, so definitely get on it! I highly recommend pre-ordering on their website to help secure your spot as they reach order capacity quickly. I honestly didn't really pay attention to the interior and decor as I was in a rush, but I definitely remember how friendly the staff were. read more

This sushi place is amazing!! Food here tasted really good. I've been dying to try this place. however, you have to order early or else they will close their take out order online early around noon. I've tried multiple times... I ordered: lobster tower, hidden dragon, aburi unagi, aburi Syake and salmon tacos. Each and everyone of these were really good and they looked amazingly presented. It seems like the sushi chefs here really prides their work. It's not sloppy at all and well presented in their boxes. Price is a little higher on the pricey side. Honestly so good that it's top of my list for aburi sushi!! It's just a little too far for me to come visit often. But whenever I'm in Vaughan, I'll definite order. read more

I've been craving sushi forever since the pandemic started and this is the first time that I've been able to resolve said craving. I drove by and ordered to go. There was a long wait to order even though there was only one other patron inside. The food is made in what looked like a well-oiled assembly line of employees. Business was booming for a Saturday before noon. I ordered a poke bowl and a roll. However, the employee misheard me and I ended up with two poke bowls. I recommend ordering either over the phone or online to avoid ordering/receiving the wrong items. I ended up receiving a classic poke bowl with salmon and tuna, which is what I ordered, and a karaage poke bowl, which I didn't order. I ended up eating one for lunch and one for dinner. The poke bowls are quite large and filling. I wasn't hungry until dinner time the following day. I enjoyed the classic poke bowl. It was spicy, citrusy, and savory. I enjoyed the various textures, from the rice, to the seaweed, to the fish and the crunchy wontons. My mouth is watering just writing about it. It was well worth the price. I left the karaage poke bowl out for dinner, so the steam condensed inside the bowl. I should have left the lid open. Overall, I enjoyed this one too. The chicken was crispy on the outside, but tender on the inside. Like the classic poke bowl, this one was also citrusy and spicy, but not as spicy as the classic. It definitely hits the spot if you're craving fried chicken. Overall, I enjoyed the poke at Toro Toro sushi. I can see why it's popular and I'm looking forward to coming back but ordering online instead. read more

Came here on recommendation from a fellow Yelp friend. And mmmm! Ordered the poke salmon bowl, and it did not disappoint! The generous portion, fresh salmon cuts, seaweed salad, avocado, pineapple, crispy noodle and sauce mixed over a generous portion of rice -- I highly recommend. For the poke bowl it was $16.95? Or so. A little pricey, but worth the portion, and quality!! I also noticed they do sushi boxes as well. Amazing aesthetic, packaging, quick, and flavourful, a great sushi take out restaurant for the area! I would definitely be coming back to try other things on the menu. 5/5!! read more

I don't usually do maki rolls but their selection is unique and what we ordered was so good. Between 2 people, we shared: - Tataki Maki - The Fantasy - Teriyaki Flame - Salmon Sushi Tacos - Aburi Syake Oshi One star deducted for price and turnaround time. I know... if I say I like it, sushi purist are gonna hang me as this isn't the best place to be. If I say I didn't like it, others will say I'm just being critical. Can't win with this place. I personally think that the place is overrated and expensive, however, their cool integrated packaging for their sushi makes it a foodie destination for at least one time. The ambiance of the place is basically sushi meets cafe. Nothing to off the chart but comfortable - and if they are busy, it's a little tight but still ok. Service here is brisk and they do good biz. I say a dozen plus bags waiting for takeout and that expensive delivery service (I won't name them and give them any plugs whatsoever - though... hmm ... my fav acronym for one of the services is STD. Marketing must have been shot for that one!!! LOL! I've never ordered STD Eva!!!! Wonder why! Been here a few times and each time, it wasn't my idea. Some peeps just love the pretty little rolls and that little black box everything is packaged in. I'd rather have great tasting food in plain packaging. 3 - 3.5 stars. Depending on who I'm having lunch date with. LOL. Cheers. read more

Super good! This place gives you reasonably priced, upscale sushi in the suburbs!! A friend recommended this place a little while ago and I couldn't get it out of my head so we took a trip to Vaughan to check it out! The restaurant is small but bustling! There's a long bar of sushi makers rolling, pressing and torching rolls, it's like Santa's workshop for sushi! It's more of a takeout place but they do have tables for you to dine in. I'm not sure there's table service, I assume you order and pickup at the counter and then take a seat and dig in. We opted to take ours home. The menu is not huge like a regular sushi restaurant. They specialize in the unique rolls, they do have nigiri and hosomaki as well for the less adventurous. You won't find bento boxes or preset sushi platters here. We ordered a bunch of rolls from the maki and Aburi sections and they were all good but some were definitely standouts. All of the Aburi rolls we tried were so good! We had the salmon, unagi and butterfish Aburi and they were among the favorite of the night. We also got the hidden dragon, crouching tiger, emperor and the fantasy. For three people it came to around $85 and it was plenty, we even had a small bit leftover. The packaging is really appealing, I appreciate that they're not using the regular black plastic containers but rather cardboard boxes which look nice and can actually be recycled! The rolls themselves are beautifully presented, each one with different sauces and accompaniments, I enjoyed the different flavour and texture combinations each roll brought. The fish all tasted fresh and the veggies crisp. Sushi rice was cooked and seasoned nicely without being overly sweet or vinegary. The prices are around $10-$13 per roll, some are a bit more, our most expensive roll had truffle oil and sautéed mushrooms so it was priced fairly. Compared to similar rolls at other restaurants, it's quite affordable. The girl working there was fine, nothing special going on with the service but our order took less time than they quoted and everything was perfect so overall the service was efficient and accurate. Awesome spot in Vaughan serving cool and unique sushi at a reasonable price. My husband and I agree that we can't go back to regular rolls and this will likely become our new go-to when we're craving sushi rolls. read more

I have tried quite a few Sushi places in Toronto, but this one is hands down the best! They have a great menu selection. There's something for everybody. The seating is limited, so come early if you are coming on a weekend. I went with my girlfriend and we tried the platter for 2. The portion size is huge! It can easily feed 3-4 people. The variety is great and you get a taste of all the different options they have. A great way is to get the platter, taste a bunch of them, and then later on order your favorites in your future visits. Also, special shoutout to their Miso soup. It's like $2 CAD only! They give you a large bowl and it's so good! Would highly recommend this place if you are looking for good Sushi. read more

Finally had a chance earlier this summer to try the very hyped up @torotoro.ca ! I decided to get a little bit of everything so I can a taste of what they offer Featuring a series of their rolls and oshi sushi (pressed sushi). Top left corner features their aburi syake and ebi oshi; top right corner features the Fantasy roll with scallop, bottom right corner features the aburi manago oshi on the left and aburi hamachi oshi on the right; and finally the bottom left corner is their signature lobster tower with 24K gold flakes. Swipe right to see upclose of the items All in all the food is reasonably priced and quite delicious. The only thing was the rice in the oshi wasn't as well seasoned as I would like - it jusy felt like eating a giant chunk of rice which also filled me up quickly. But the rolls were quite well done. It certainly did satisfy my oshi cravings for the next little while! They are usually quite busy so order ahead of time if you want to get a hold of some of these read more

Finally made my way to the famous Toro Toro sushi spot in Vaughan. Located just by Vaughan mills mall. Please Note: they do not currently offer dine-in seating. I did a walk-in order and I instantly loved how welcoming and inviting the ambience was. Upon placing my order, the staff was really friendly, and when I asked how long the wait would be they politely asked the chef right in front of me and it was no more than 15mins! But I highly recommend ordering online through their website or even by phone! Depending on the time of day they can be quite busy. We ordered: - Lobster Tacos (4/5): sadly I didn't take a photo, however the quality of lobster was high and you can instantly tell it what fresh! It has a nice crunch to it with the hard shell! They really do stuff the taco with as much lobster as they can. Only downfall is these tacos are relatively smaller than the usual. - The Fantasy Roll (5/5): I really loved every aspect of this role as it had a kick to it and great savoury flavour. - Aburi Butterfish Oshi (3/5): I'm personally not a fan of butterfish so I may be a little biased, but I like how the bottom isn't just rice and they put the effort to fill it with shrimp - Aburi Syake Oshi (4/5): can never go wrong with a salmon and shrimp combo! - Tataki Maki Roll (5/5): seared tuna is always delicious, they perfected the flavouring! Only tip I have when coming here is to keep in mind you're coming for the experience and flavour not portions. They've really put a lot of thought and effort into their presentation and packaging! Would definitely come back :) read more

Got the spring tasting box they currently have in collaboration with The Alley. It's a great serving size for two and we even had some leftover. The salmon was fresh and had a great melt in your mouth texture. I will be back for more! :) read more

Let me preface the review with the fact that I really wanted my favourite Project Fish, but it seems to be permanently closed. :( It's just a different experience - Toro Toro is bustling with less ambience but it is also less expensive. I liked being able to order online. We got takeout. We got four things: The Fantasy The Emperor Aburi Shake Oshi Aburi Hamachi Oshi The aburi oshi was a good price and tasty. A nice treat to have yellowtail. These were super sized - two bites worth and easily came apart. The Fantasy was my favourite with scallop and teeny crispy deep fried yams and overall a smoky flavour. The Emperor was good, but perhaps an issue of personal taste. I like truffle, but did not like it on fish. I would go again and try some of the other offerings. Good value, nice presentation, good food. read more

I've been eyeing Toro Toro for a while now since seeing images of their premium and visually appealing sushi on Instagram. I ordered a Crouching Tiger roll ($10) (which features seared salmon, shrimp tempura, avocado, cucumber, Japanese mayo, teriyaki sauce, chipotle aioli, & hot sauce) and the Kirin Futomaki ($8) - containing cooked shrimp, cucumber, fried nori, crispy yam strings, togarashi, tobiko, sesame seeds, spicy mayo, Japanese mayo, teriyaki sauce. The staff were friendly and helped to suggest different rolls that could be made without avocado for my avocado-averse hubby. Unfortunately when they made the roll, they neglected to leave out the avocado as had been discussed. The food was ready in about 10 minutes. While waiting it was fairly busy in the restaurant. There was a patron who came in without a mask. Although I know they were busy, as a fellow patron I would have appreciated if the staff had spoken to said patron to please mask up while placing his order. The food was packaged beautifully in sleek black cardboard boxes. Ample amounts of pickled ginger, soy sauce, and wasabi were provided with the order. Everything tasted very very fresh. There was a lovely balance of textures and flavours in all of the rolls, from the smokiness in the torched Forbidden and Crouching Tiger, to the crunchiness of the crispy yam strings in the Kirin Futomaki. I can see why this place gets high marks for taste and presentation. If you sign up for their loyalty program, they give you $2 off your first order. IYKYK, this place needs no introduction. Finally got a chance to visit Toro Toro, and they did not disappoint!! The aroma of torched sushi hits you the moment you walk in. What I got: lobster tower; big chunks of lobster meat on top of crispy rice. It's quite hard to eat just because of how crumbly it is, but the flavours hits hard! 4/5 Aburi Syake Oshi; you can never go wrong with some torched salmon pressed sushi, but the added tartness from the mango chunks just elevated it to a whole another level 4/5 Lobster and shrimp tacos ; made with wonton shells, this is both crispy and refreshing all in one tiny bite! 5/5 Salmon sashimi : beautifully cut, super fresh 4/5 Spider roll: this one was the most disappointing to be honest. It's not bad but I would just stick to their popular items 2/5 read more

I was super excited to visit Toro Toro after seeing tons of instagram posts of their luxury sushi takeout boxes. I ordered the Tasting Box for Two, which was a 30-minute wait but understandable with all the effort that goes into it. We dined-in as this location as it was a bit far from home, and my only concern was the lack of difference between dine-in seating and seating for pick-up orders. This location isn't large by any means, so it feels cramped quite easily with people waiting for orders. It's not the restaurants fault, but the seating set-up definitely affects the atmosphere. PRIMARILY A TAKE OUT SHOP! While there are dining spots, I just wanted to share this first since I was a bit surprised when I got there. It is take-out order and service style and you will get all your food in take out containers even if you dine in - which personally is SO wasteful but I can see from where I was sitting how busy they are and it make sense but I would not dine-in again. The smaller tables are all in a narrow pathway towards the bathroom so not ideal if there are just 2 or 3 people in your group wanting to dine in. Food is superb and presentation is great! All comes in take out bento box style packaging and they have great social media presence which drew me in to begin with. Can I say its the best blow torch in town? No but the line-ups and 15 staff behind the counter tell me a different story. This place is popping especially for the area and I can see why its a quick favorite. read more
