Service here was great! They seems to know what they're doing and the cat is the best waiter. The fries are delicious and their burger is filling. Would love to come back to this cute cafe.

Small cafe for breakfast and lunch. EST 1956. Looks like an old gas station/ market. Taken back when times may have been a bit simpler. I was greeted kindly and seated it has a very quaint feel and very clean. They have a board with morning specials as well as full breakfast menu. I ordered from the specials. Chilaquiles & eggs. It was served with beans and sour cream on the side. The chips were well dressed and the eggs fluffy and cooked perfectly. I ordered mild as I wasn't sure on heat level. I would probably go to medium next time just to up the heat level a bit. Chips were still crispy and slowly some soften up from heat of the eggs and sauce an onions. It was perfectly balanced and one of the best I've had. Coffee is fresh and hot and a nice medium blend with cream or flavor creamers on the side. Will definitely be back to try other items on the menu. They advertise best burgers. So will have to give that a try. Picked up a fresh house made cinnamon roll for tomorrow!

Well, first off, apologies for no photo of MY meal (I took photos of my husband's and my sister in laws , but I will paint a picture with words. I ordered the linguisa, eggs over easy, hashbrowns, and a biscuit. You do not see linguisa on menus very often, and it used to be a childhood favorite of mine, so I could not resist. It did not disappoint. Everything was tasty and satisfying. The biscuit was the fluffy kind, I prefer the crispy kind. Do not come here if you are in a rush though. The service is friendly and kind, but definitely on the slow side. It is the kind of place where you settle in, sip your coffee, and enjoy a leisurely breakfast. Worth the wait if you have the time.

chicken fried steak with eggs and gravy

Toro Place Cafe was a very average brunch place. Parking was pretty rough/awkward during 11:15am on a Saturday, but we managed since the place is located right next to the highway. We were seated very quickly outside on the patio which was very nice! It was a cloudy day and a bit cold outside, but only one of the outdoor heaters was working, out of the ~5 they had :( Service was not great but not horrible. When they served our food, they forgot to give me my side of fruit. We also asked for hot sauce (which every other table except us) and I think they forgot. We ended up asking another waitress after finally managing to flag them down and she quickly brought out my fruits (yum) & hot sauce. I was halfway done with my food though which kinda sucked because I was hungry and hot sauce is a necessity with my eggs! The chicken fried steak reminded of the free lunches I got in middle school It didn't seem like anything special to me-- just a fried slab of underseasoned chicken. I think I made a mistake choosing this, but my friend who got the eggs benedict said it was really good! He finished in 6 bites!!! Toro Place Cafe is a decent brunch spot but I didn't feel like it was anything special. I see a lot of folks bringing and pets here, which is pretty cool and nice. I also really enjoyed the patio but I wish the heaters worked or wished I came on a sunnier day. Thank you to the staff here that worked really hard to attend to my table! I imagine they were short staffed during the time I came.

I've been here before with a group of friends and we had a horrible service experience so i haven't given it a thought again, but today my friends insisted that we give it another chance and we did. The foods that we ordered are just okay, it's not something that you would go back to over and over, it's a cute little cafe that needs some good aesthetics, the bathroom is clean though. I must say that service is still the same as last time that we went. They need to up their game on the service.

We stopped by for lunch on a Saturday and we were thrilled with our order. I had the grilled chicken club and spouse had the mushroom burger. We enjoyed the patio dining and the food was terrific! If you are on Hwy 68 the Toro Cafe is a must stop!

Decent roadhouse cafe. I hear the cinnamon buns are amazing but always sold out by the time I arrive. Great meeting spot to carb up before hiking Ft Ord or a nice lunch spot after an epic hike. Good and solid diner. Friendly staff.

Service was immediate. We chose our seat and had a waitress quickly. Coffee came and we ordered 2 omelets. Castroville and an ABC. Cooked to perfection and LOADED with ingredients. This is a very old restaurant that is basically by itself along the highway. Very cool small town feel. Great little patio attached for nice weather days. Highly recommend!!

Hubby had the marinade skirt steak sandwich with clam chowder soup.

Nice service, but food is average. Pricy for what you are getting. Not worth it if you are looking for delicious.

A lot of people I know are regulars here and they keep reminding me about it…read more We order takeout from here semi-regularly and it's always good and consistent but I rarely stop in. But I think that is about to change. I was at the Farmer's Market that happens right outside this place on Saturdays and I ventured in for an iced tea. What I found was super friendly service. They said I could sit outside at the tables to enjoy my beverage - even if that was all I purchased. That was so cool of 'em that I decided to try a cheeseburger. It's a pretty good burger! We recently had a slew of cloudy, chilly rainy days in Nov. 2025 so today seemed warm and the cheeseburger had a summery char-grilled flavor, perfectly cooked and juicy. They bring everything on the side so you can choose how much you want of everything - lettuce, generous serving of sliced tomatoes and onions. I just have to remember to hold the mayo next time. Some of the outdoor seats have umbrellas and some don't so you can decide if you like shade or sun. They also have heated tables (firepits) for evening dinners. Server came and checked on me twice and when I asked for a to go cup for my tea, she filled the to go cup for me rather than just making me pour what I had left into it. We normally do takeout and they have unique Mexican options from Oaxaco that are healthy Blue Zone inspired dishes alongside the more traditional Mexican options. Plus perennial faves that carried over from the previous owner like real roasted turkey. This is a cool place with solid options to suit many tases and the best part is the super friendly service. I'm going to make a note to come back soon.

I recommend this place to everyone! I love coming here.

My only 5 star on everything is the General Historic Bar…read more What can I say I may be a lil biased because I have gotten to know Dimitri (owner) and Hamada ( Bartender) personally but I had only gotten to know them because I come to this bar frequently and they have become family to me that's what great people that are. Finally made it to The Growers Pub and it did NOT…read moredisappoint! The location is easy to get to, parking is good, the inside is spotless and clean in my eyes . Bathrooms are cute. My boss and coworkers have been raving about this place for the longest time, and I finally decided to come check it out for myself during lunch. Safe to say, I completely understand the hype now and I don't regret it one bit! I ordered the fries with steak bites and they were absolutely delicious. Now here's the thing , I am not a dessert person. I almost never order dessert anywhere I go, but something told me to give the brownie a try, and wow, I am so glad I did. Finger licking good doesn't even begin to cover it. That alone is worth the trip! But what really made the experience stand out was my server, Jasmine A . She was a solid 10 out of 10 incredibly friendly, attentive, and just an overall joy to be served by. I am someone who takes customer service very seriously, and Jasmine is exactly the kind of energy every restaurant needs more of. She genuinely made the whole experience even better. If you're reading this and on the fence about coming don't hesitate. The food is amazing, the service is top tier, and it is absolutely worth every single penny.
