Small, cozy bar inside a Mediterranean restaurant in a strip mall. I didn't have high expectations. The drinks were good. My bartender was super friendly and was really attentive. The place was empty on a midweek day at about 3pm. I ordered the masala fries from the restaurant next door. They weren't very good. The fries weren't crisp, they were soggy as soon as I dug in. There was a generous amount of meat on top of the fries, but the flavor wasn't quite right. All I could taste was cumin and salt. Really wasn't good bar food. Overall this is a great place to relax and have a drink at the end of the day. I'd have to try more items off the menu to properly rate the food.

Another great trip to The General Sports Bar in Marina. We of course ordered the wings (1/2 Buffalo and 1/2 Honey Sriracha). This trip we met Dimitri, the owner. Such a treat to chat with him. He treated us to a portion of the Vegan Delight (aka Mujadara) - basically rice, lentils, caramelized onions nicely spiced and served with crispy Syrian dill pickles and Tzatziki. Delicious with so much flavor! I wish I had a picture, but we dug right in. So nice to see Hamada again too. He is truly a creative mixologist. Marty loved his smoked Old Fashioned and the citrus, spicy vodka drink with a Chamoy and Tajin rim I tried was delicious. Live music on Wednesday starting at 7 and happy hour every day from 4-6. Definitely worth a trip to Marina! We had the best visit! Love all the military history in this spot. Connected to Dametra Fresh in Marina and has a nice speakeasy sort of feel.

Espresso Martini... BEST on the peninsula.

This place is THE best! The food is amazing! The drinks are not only delicious but the price is spot on. The bartenders are funny. Expect to have an unforgettable time while you are here. Great ambiance. The owner is awesome too. Seriously, best bar in Marina. Don't pass up the hidden gem. 5 stars!

You never know what to expect. Visiting a new place trying to find somewhere to go. After checking with Yelp and asking our hotel front desk we walked over to the General. So glad we did. The service was outstanding. Dmitri and Alexi took care of us. Great alcohol selection. Great food. Happy Hour specials. The Sriracha honey mustard wings were really good. The Greek fries were amazing. So much food!!! Portions are outstanding. Highly recommend. And loved music selection.

Secret menu. If you like fruity drinks (raspberry and strawberry), try it! Ask Hamada to make one for you

If you want great food, best bar tenders (Hamada and Oscar) in town that will make you feel like family every single time, this is the place to be! Music is on point and service is superb!

I'd spent the morning hiking around Pfeiffer Beach and arrived in Carmel in the early afternoon. I was looking for basic sustenance. On the menu it didn't appear fancy-- a basic grilled cheese sandwich with tomato bisque. The combination was delivered to my table hot and fresh. I waited for a few minutes so as to avoid burning my tongue. I observed the bread was crispy, and the cheese combination was nicely melted. The bisque had a nice aroma. The first bite of sandwich was perfection, and following it up with a spoonful of bisque was pure rapture. I was impressed by a humble grilled cheese sandwich because it was made to perfection.

Calamari was very lightly breaded and maybe it was timing but not as crisp of breading as I prefer. That said, it tasted good- I just prefer more crunch. The truffle fries were GREAT. Extra crispy, perfectly salted and seasoned w truffle. I shared the nicoise salad and roast beef sliders - the salad was good, the meat of the sliders was good and the crispy onions were a nice touch. The actual sliders were a tad dry. I think an au jus would've paired perfectly with this and resolved any dryness problem. My boyfriend got the Brophy's burger - extremely cheesy and loved the mushrooms. I'm not often in Carmel, but if I am and need a solid, casual bite, I will definitely be back!!

Recommend doing the $15 mini golf, which is the mini courses on the main floor and it's a lot more lively here. The bottom floor is where the bathrooms and real golf courses are, but it's a lot more secluded. The real heartbreak came when we realized the kitchen closed at 9pm, but the bartenders were really helpful when it came to us ordering sweeter choices of cocktails and letting us know about the difference between the mini / regular courses. They also gave us recs on what was open late at night. Their cocktails were yummy and tasted like described on the menu! The John Daly tasted more sweeter than I anticipated as it came with simple syrup, vodka, and lemon juice. Both were still great choices. We love a lil bev to sip onnnnn.
