First off, I'd like to start off by saying if you go to the right Torchy's location the food is delicious. Went into this location tonight around 8:30pm with a party of two. The business hours posted online says that this business closes at 10:00pm but the hours posted on the door say 9:00pm. We asked before ordering if it was an inconvenience to order this late and we're told we were good to dine in. We ordered guac and chips which was brought to our table in "dine in dishes" with a hot bowl and cold guac with really stale chips. The kitchen staff brought our 4 tacos bagged up as a to-go order without pico that comes standard on the tacos or the extra poblano ranch that we ordered. Usually their fried avocado tacos are delicious but tonight the fried avocado tasted like they were fried in dirty grease along with the ODDEST tasting tortillas. They were so off tasting that we couldn't finish them with the result of a stomach ache and wasted money....You'd think spending $40 with a substantial tip (tipping before receiving the food and service is wild as if the amount you tip is dependent on how your food is prepared) for food. The receipt says "special prep" which makes me curious about the taste of the food because we didn't ask for any of our food to be altered from the menu suggestion. This location is sketchy and I won't be dining there again. The food didn't taste safe to eat. Staff was nonchalant and nowhere to be found to correct the mistakes of the order. We waited for a substantial amount of time to even ask for the rest of our toppings. If I could leave negative stars, I would. read more

Just came in opening day. Everything looks clean, and the staff was wildly friendly. The food was amazing. The tortillas are very soft, the meat is tender, and the queso is delicious. We've been waiting for it to open forever because Torchys is consistency delicious. They have a pretty wide menu to choose from and pretty much anything is a huge win. Other torchy's locations do have breakfast all day, but this one only has breakfast on the weekends. Not a complaint, but something to be aware of if you're looking for breakfast. Be sure to stop in on the weekends for the breakfast tacos, because they are unreal. Can't wait to eat here again, a welcome addition in Boulder. read more

Came to Torchy's for lunch and wasn't hungry again for dinner! This place is just awesome, from the super friendly person taking orders, to the fantastic funk playlist, it has it all. On this trip I got a chicken fajita taco and a fried avocado taco, they were overflowing with fresh ingredients that I couldn't finish both. Fortunately my partner could put down the rest of mine and a trailer park, trashy style and a democrat. The happy hour margaritas were a great price and done really well, not too sweet! My only gripe is with the amount of single use plastics. Each taco comes its own side of salsa in a plastic cup with a top. For dine in, I'd prefer reusable or degradable options. First off I LOVE this location USUALLY... tonight the chips were not their usual crispy deliciousness. The queso was in a large bowl, but about an inch from the top. This is an $8.00 bowl of cheese and chips... with about a tablespoon of guac. . It's special, but for that price, it would be nice if it was not an inch from the top upon serving. And the sangria. After any alcoholic beverage, I feel it. This beverage was also poured an inch from the top of the glass, and when I finished it after approximately nursing this drink for 30 min, the glass was still 3/4 full of ice. We had a similar problem before, with the frozen Rita, and did not say anything, then.... It was the same female bartender, who last time would not honor our drink order for happy hour pricing. Due to We all waited for the one paying for our dinner to head to the bar together.... since we placed our dinner order at 5:55... and it took time to get over to the bar. The bar is now where customers have to place their drink orders. It was too late to honor HH prices. I'm not sure if they are struggling financially, or what, no one makes fried avocado slices as good as these... but the whole feel of the restaurant feels off. No one is smiling, least of all the Bartender, except for the couple of patrons who are either her best friends or frequent flyers. Having drinks out is expensive, and I'd expect for them to be full, or at least fullish,.. The sangria glass should not be 3/4 full of ice after the beverage is finished. The online ordering /customer service situation on Labor Day, when we visited, was an absolute mess. We were steadily making our way from the Rockies to Denver airport, for an early evening flight, and figured an online order to Torchy's ahead of time would be the quickest pitstop for lunch. Little did we know that they were completely overwhelmed and took 40 minutes to prepare our order of 5 tacos (against a 10 minute estimate). What's worse is that our queries about the status of our order were effectively ignored by the chap at the counter, who said "they're on their way out" and then proceeded to get back to what he was doing - without bothering to check. Later, my wife intercepted someone going into the kitchen and asked them to check. Within 5 minutes, our order was ready. Probably a coincidence, but who knows. The food was solid, as you'd expect from Torchy's. It was my wife's first time coming here - on my recommendation - and she was so put off by the service that I'm not sure we'll be back. read more

I really wanted the food to be better since the restaurant was founded in Austin and Austin seems like an awesome place, but there was nothing healthy on the menu... at all. Everything has cheese or meat, or is deep-fried. Even the overly spicy guacamole had cheese on it. I gave everything I ordered to my son who has a voracious appetite and can eat two entrees (he's an athlete). I ate nothing and went home and made a healthy dinner for myself. Sad to say, this is how it went tonight. Freezing cold inside. Yes it was a cold day, but they did not compensate. I will admit, I have only ever been to 2 other Torchy's, both in CO about 5 years ago. I really liked the one at Northfield, then Stapleton but now Central Park, a lot. For the food for the ambience, for the staff quality. The other one I had visited was the one in Westminster. Not as good as Northfield, but at least back then, better than this was tonight. The Northfield visit was in January so also winter weather, but somehow it was a better designed space. The location in Boulder had been a restaurant at which I had beed a regular for decades. The building has been gutted and divided into 2 small businesses. I know nothing about the other and the space it is in was the full kitchen and bar space in the past so it too must be totally new construction. The portion I was in tonight bears no resemblance to the previous, other than it has the same location of the main door and the same sidewalk and parking. It does have more outdoor space than in the past so I may give it another try next summer. Maybe. The best of the food was the still outstanding chips, light, thin, not greasy, and just the right amount of salt. So many places miss on this part. The queso was not as good as I remember, but still OK. But too much chili oil on top tonight. And brought to the table so early, with nothing to have it drip on, made a mess. Because anther issue, the benches in the booths are too low for the table. It you are a very tall person, you might be fine but for average to short, a bit hard to eat at. In the past, I remembered having been given some sort of plate or tray to use and the queso arriving with our food. Our tacos were ok, but smaller than in the past, as with many places, wanting to not raise prices. We had some of the same tacos we had in the past but perhaps not quite the same quality meat either. I will say, the Sangria was fine though I have had better but admittedly more expensive elsewhere. The most overwhelming annoyance was the music, not only not our style, but oppressively loud. I can adapt to other styles in many places but the sound level should allow for conversation to be heard. As we were leaving, we did see a smaller area for eating that we had not seen or noticed when we choose a table. It did retain 2 of the windows of the old establishment , reduced from a wall length section and all nicely protected from the location so close to the doors. It did not appear to have anyone seated there tonight, but we should have been directed there as it seems it would have been warmer without a door there, and (wishful thinking) perhaps not as many sound speakers. It would be nice if the staff member who graciously took our order at the counter and then delivered the food when ready had suggested it when she saw us still wearing some of our outerwear at the table. Will we be back? Only in warmer weather, and we will ask about other seating options. It seems this location is much more "fast food" than "quick casual" of the others. Whether the chain has changed or they designed this to be a lower grade facility division, it is hard to tell. But how it got any 5 star reviews, I do not know. Perhaps those were all patio events in the summer for out of town visitors or a different demographic than we are, but there are many quick serve places around Boulder that we find quite satisfactory, but not this, not tonight. read more

I am from Austin, where Torchy's originated, so perhaps I'm a little bias, but I do love this little order-at-the-counter Mexican restaurant. Do I wish they had slightly higher quality tacos? Yes. Do I wish they had slightly stronger and less sugary drinks? Yes. But, do I come back time and time again and am a Torchy's Rewards member? Heck yes. I've given this torchys a few tries and it's just not good. At all. If you're from another city and were excited to see a torchys here, you're better off skipping it. I went to the grand opening party on Monday night and the staff did an amazing job helping people get in line and keeping it together. The chips and queso are my favorite in this entire world. I ate my weight in queso that night. They also allowed for two tacos; I got to try the Blackened Salmon and the Democrat, both were delicious. Two tacos is honestly a meal and I'm okay with that. These tacos are jam-packed with delicious and fresh ingredients. My favorite part of the night was the drinks. I got a passion fruit margarita (actually my friend did), only because of my license. I still have my vertical license from my home state, even though I am 22, they would NOT accept it.
