This is hands down my new favorite place for dessert! I am OBSESSED with their ice cream! My personal favorite is vanilla ice cream with the Abuelita chocolate-it's cinnamon goodness is DEVINE. The prickly pear ice cream with lime is surprisingly delectable as well! The servings are generous and pricing is very fair. Highly recommend stopping by for a treat if you're in downtown Gilbert! read more

A giant, cowboy hat wearing gopher. Right smack dab on the tippy top of the TOPO establishment. It seems to attract a lot of selfies and gazes- which definitely works to drive word of mouth buzz. Built seemingly overnight late in 2019 this cool little "roadside attraction" offers simple to go burritos and soft serve. There are a few shaded tables nearby but I feel like TOPO intends for you to eat and enjoy as you walk the Gilbert downtown sidewalks. The burritos sound amazing from reading the menu. They are of decent size, wrapped in foil to keep them hot on the go. Unfortunately I had just scarfed down a lunch in the square and was mostly interested in what "soft serve" was offered as it was spelled down one side of the building. This is a simple 2 flavor setup. Vanilla, Prickly Pear or a twist (both flavors swirled together). There are dips as well like a chocolate dip. $3 for a large cone serving. I went with the twist and it was amazing. Smooth texture and awesome flavor. In the 15 minutes I spent standing around enjoying my cone I watched at least a dozen people either taking pics of the massive gopher on top of the building or walking up to place an order. Watched one girl get a vanilla cone dipped in chocolate. That will be my next go. Didn't get the chance to order a burrito but I WILL be back. The Topo Loco sounded amazing. Oh yeh the elote also looked super delicious. Prices are very reasonable. Process is easy-- it's a walk up to place the order. No cash, e-payments only. So bring that credit card or have your Apple Pay ready! Dude that served my cone was cool. Overall a great and unique addition to the Gilbert downtown. It's between a coffee house and Joe's BBQ. Easy to find with parking in back. read more

My hubby and I love this lil gem! It's a must go-to for an amazing burrito! The TOPO LOCO burrito is just so damn good! Delicious BBQ pork, with a bit of hot, and then they add sweet alote, beans....and Fritos!!!! A bit of heaven! read more

Best elote I've ever had! Corn had an awesome smoked flavor. Nice, low level of heat. Also, for the burrito, loved the texture of the tortilla and the flavor of the pork! Yummy! read more

I've drove by this place a million times, heard nothing but amazing things and today was the day I got my hands on Topo loco burrito. I didnt look at what was in it, I just wanted it to be a surprise. This is literally the best burrito I have ever had in my life. I'm not even exaggerating. I DO NOT miss meals.. Anytime I'm in the area I am 100% getting another, it was that unreal. Next time I'll probably try some of that ice cream too' Highly highly highly recommend! read more

It's hard not to love this place! On the same property as Joe's Real BBQ in the heart od downtown Gilbert, Topo's offerings are straightforward: ice cream and burritos. I've only ever had the ice cream, but it's good (and unique!). I believe the only flavors are vanilla and prickly pear, and you can also get them dipped. I've tried the two flavors as a twist/combo and also the vanilla dipped in lime. The lime is fresh and divine! The real draw here is the space and location. There's a simple walk-up window and a couple of tables and umbrellas out front, but you're also welcome to go in the gate and sit in the "yard" of Joe's. That space is awesome and perfect for families, with tons of games and plenty of seating. I remember when they started building Topo, I was so upset they were taking some precious space away from the area LOL. It turned out to be a very welcome addition that complements downtown perfectly! read more

Decent burritos, excellent corn, unique prickly pear soft serve. Not the best food ever, but a fun experience to have in Downtown Gilbert. Burritos and corn /5. read more

Impeccable customer service and great ice cream!!Autumn and Devon were FABULOUS and so friendly and made the whole experience comfortable and easy! The ice cream, which was recommended from Autumn, was DELICIOUS!! My boyfriend and I will definitely be in for some more ice cream and great service from Autumn and Devon!! read more

Last night I had the most amazing burrito! Then again, I also ate a bag of kettle corn someone left behind on a table. So, the questions is. . . Are the burritos amazing, or did I have too much to drink? Right now, I am going to go with the burritos are amazing. We tried pork and chicken. Pork was a little too smokey tasting, like it belonged on a plate with BBQ sauce and potato salad, not in a burrito. I will give it another try one day. read more

Oh my. Everything here is fantastic! Little known secret is that you can order the burritos bowl style. The smoked meat is to die for and all the ingredient are perfectly in harmony with each other. The best burrito I've had in a LONG time. read more

Topo - Chicken Topo Loco Bowl - Mexican Near Me - Gilbert, Arizona

Worth a trip. Their prickly pear soft serve is pretty good, paired up nicely with their good vanilla soft serve. We haven't tried any food here, but if their soft serve is any indication of the quality, it should be good. Thankfully, the line for it wasn't as long as we have seen in the past. read more

Delicious! Definitely recommend if you're looking for a sweet treat while wandering in downtown Gilbert. I opted to get the swirl so I could have best of both worlds. read more

A must stop when in downtown Gilbert. This burrito "stand" is genius. Minimal options to make the entire experience muy facile (very easy). Grab your chicken or pork burrito, a side of elote (creamy, spicy corn) and go! Or, stay and enjoy the cozy outdoor seating and play area. Sweet tooth? They also offer 2 flavors of soft serve ice cream (I recommend vanilla & prickly pear swirl). If you're a frugal diner and don't like to purchase bottled water, bring your own H2O, or simply step inside the neighboring, co-owned restaurant (Joe's Real BBQ) for a free cup (that's what I did). read more

Strongly recommend. The prickly pear ice cream is absolutely delicious and very unique. This business understands "keep your menu small to insure quality!". read more

I love their burritos. It has incredibly flavorful meat with a great sauce. The added "crunch" to it is the cherry on top. What suck however is that the majority of people are trying to get soft serve. It's good but not worth the 15 minute wait for. The cashier is also the soft serve "cook" so that takes way too much time. The burrito guy is just waiting back there to take my order. Add an extra person back there Joe!! read more

The food is amazing and the service is great! I thought it was just an ice cream place but their burritos are bomb too! Just a little pricey for a soft served. Other than that, super yum! read more

This is my 2nd time eating from this place. The first time I was with my girlfriends and we just had ice cream and elote which was good. Tonight, my husband and I ordered their topo loco burrito and elote and as I was waiting in line I noticed one of the kid was cleaning the counters. He had gloves on and walked over to the sink and washed the rag he was using to wipe down the counters and as he wrung the rag he came back to the counter again to wipe. I said to my husband I hope he's not the one to make our burrito and I looked over he was the one making our burrito and didn't change his gloves. I walked over back to the cashier and told her and asked if he can change his gloves and make us a new burrito. The cashier didn't even acknowledge the fact that that is nasty and apologized she just then told him to make a new burrito and the kid didn't seem apologetic either that he should know that is nasty I mean common you're handling peoples food please be more considerate and know that oh shit I need to change my gloves. Anyway? I watched him make my new burrito to make sure he didn't do anything shady but there were too many people in line it's hard to watch the entire time but I'm just hoping he didn't do anything to our food. We got our food and our burrito is so mushy that was filled with sauce and it wasn't when wrapper correctly it was falling out and make a mess. Didn't have the energy to ask for another one. Anyway, very disappointed!!! Please make sure your staff use clean gloves when handling peoples food! Think of it when you go out to eat at and people handing your food this way, you wouldn't like it either. read more

The newest edition to downtown Gilbert is nicely squeezed in between Bergie's Coffee and Joe's Real BBQ. Topo is a small walk-up food stall with a huge gopher on the roof (Topo means gopher or mole in Spanish). Leave it to owner Joe Johnston to add a little something fun, unique but weird to the growing downtown Gilbert area. This place draws you in like many of the weird roadside attractions do if you were driving on the Route 66 in northern AZ. What I like most is its very simple menu - burrito, beverage and ice cream. What else do you need in life? You can order a regular burrito (chicken or pork) or have it loco style with elote corn, fritos chips, tomatillo cream and hot sauce. They offer a small bowl of elote for a side. For dessert, they have vanilla or prickly pear ice cream cones that you can dip in chocolate, lime or prickly pear. That's it - very quick and simple. I came on opening day and it took about 15 min waiting in line to order my food (I'm sure that will decrease over time). Food came out in a few minutes. Joe Johnston greeted people in line and offered us gopher stickers. The kitchen space is small and systems-based. I noticed they weigh every burrito that is made before they serve them. There are a few tables off to the side, but most people use the larger picnic tables next to Joe's BBQ. This place is unique and fun and opens late. They should get quite a good crowd that just want a quick bite to eat. read more

Burritos + Soft Serve = Marriage Made in Heaven? I had to do a double take when I saw this joint pop up... a giant beaver on top of the tiny shack and they only serve burritos and soft serve. What the huh?!? I'm here to tell you that it kicks some serious ass! They have two kinds of burritos - pork or chicken. You can either get it plainish with beans and some seasoning or "Loco" with hot sauce, Fritos, cream, corn and more. It's different and really damn good. I am normally not one to recommend chicken burritos, but it was better than the pork. The chicken had a richer smoke flavor. You can't go wrong either way. Get the street corn! Now to the soft serve: two flavor options: vanilla or prickly pear. Wtf is a prickly pear flavor anyways?! It's kick ass that's what it is! We got the twist w vanilla and had it dipped in lime and omfg it was epic!! Kids loved it and they are both picky eaters. Grab yourself a Mexican soda and get ready to rock out with the beaver out! Plea to owners: please please please add carne asada to the menu! read more

I know they promote late night eats and that's probably because you need to kill your taste buds with alcohol before you stumble on over to Topo, because sober topo is .... interesting. As I write this I am trying to find the right words to explain the Paradox that is their pork burritos it was over spiced yet under seasoned at the exact same time, a pinch of salt would have done wonders to this food. If you need a burrito Los Favoritos is just down the road. read more

Victoria made the perfect dipped ice cream cone. And was super nice and funny. Perfect on a warm day!!

Welcoming atmosphere! Kid friendly, family friendly, group friendly. It's nice to have a second spot at Joes BBQ for food if you're in a large group and everyone wants something different. Standing in line off the road with kids is hard tho, but maybe after they've been open awhile they order window behind the fence will function. The prickly pear soft serve is yummy and full of flavor when paired with lime dip! Eat fast though, it's Arizona and that soft serve will melt fast! read more

Topo - Nice simple menu - Mexican Near Me - Gilbert, Arizona

Stopped in after eating next door at Joes BBQ. We had the prickly pair ice cream. Yum and yum. Can't wait to go back. Cash only.

Guys I can't. This place is out-of-this-world. The burrito is probably one of the best I have ever had. the crunch of the corn chips, the corn, the beans -- I ate the entire thing! My husband was waiting to get half of mine, because I never finish my food but I only gave him my last bite! Their street corn is also TO DIE FOR. I love that the service is quick and efficient, they are absolutely accommodating where they can be for dietary restrictions, and it's simple. Simple, delicious, clean food. In fact, I may need to have this for lunch today because I've got a hankering! read more

Firstly, this is not Mexican food. From what I can gather, this is food from Joes BBQ wrapped in a tortilla. The smoked meat just doesn't connect for me, at all. It was an odd, off-putting experience of flavor. They really shouldn't label this Mexican at all. It looks like a quick grab and go concept, but this place takes way too long for what it is. Highly inefficient on both the soft serve and burritos, all while waiting in the sun outside. Far better elote across the street at Joyride. The soft serve is fine (hard to have bad soft serve). It's not as creamy as I would like, it's more icy and a little empty on flavor. Doesn't compete with even the likes of chains Dairy Queen and Culver's. The prickly pear dip was applied way too thick. Call it what it is, okay Arizona bbq in a tortilla. So many better options on the street. read more

Prickly Pear soft serve was amazing . Can't believe it only took 4 years to try this place . Next time I'm trying the Elote too. Yum!

Topo - Outside area behind the stand. So family friendly and fun! - Mexican Near Me - Gilbert, Arizona

Everything was amazing!! Loved the burritos and elote... Especially the prickly pear ice cream!

This is the cutest place ever. There is no inside to this restaurant. It's a small stand that serves VERY few items. I've had the burritos several times. If you're walking in this area, you'll notice the crowds are elsewhere, especially at Joe's Real BBQ next door and the happening restaurants and bars nearby. There are a few tables right next door that we were able to sit at, though. Be forewarned that the burritos are huge--almost too large for a lunch. You really will need a plate to cut them up. Staff has always been nice. If I had any complaints it would be how limited the menu is, but unless you're eating here all the time, that shouldn't matter. read more

Big fan of everything Joe Johnston does. Topo is another hit for him. For opening day the line wasn't too bad. Got to chat Joe up for a few minutes while waiting to order. I ordered the pork topo loco burrito, elote and a vanilla/prickly pear twist ice cream cone with the lime dip. The lime dip didn't taste like anything just kind of artificial. The pork was smokey and delicious but the fritos make the burrito. The prickly pear ice cream is delicious. The elote could use a little spice though. Can't wait to return. read more

We have eaten at Topo twice and both times we gotten a solid, albeit spicy, freshly-made burrito. Both the chicken and the pork options are tasty. The elote is delicious. We did order ice cream cones, which were refreshing, but we were so full from our burritos that we couldn't finish! read more

SO GOOD! I love the aesthetic of the place. It is so fun. Limited menu items, but you know this means their food will likely all be done well. The elote is amazing, heaven in a cup. And the prickly pear soft serve is out of this world. Plus they serve Topo Chico Lime which is one of my most favorite drinks. All around 5 stars. read more
