I was very curious to taste the prickly pear soft serve because I haven't had prickly pear before. Topo's prickly pear soft serve tasted like black cherry. Cherry is one of my least favorite artificial flavors, so I wasn't a fan of it. read more

Great burritos and the ice cream was so flavorful. My friend had the dipped. 1/2 orange and 1/2 lime dip. Wonderful flavors!! Yummy!

It was super fast and convenient. The ladies were super helpful. We got the elote and a chocolate dipped cone. The elote was good but when you're used to real elote you still crave the taste. It's does satisfy you temporarily. I also loved the spoons that they used. read more

My first time eating at Topo did not disappoint. Got the Tool Loco and the prickly pear lemonade, it was delicious! It's a walk up restaurant but the service was excellent! I asked for the sauce on the side, no problem. Asked for a knife and a bag because I saw the size of the Burrito, it was huge! Every request was answered with a "no problem!" When I saw the size of the burrito, I immediately cut it in half and brought half home to enjoy later Next time I'll save room for the prickly pear ice cream, I hear it's fantastic. There was plenty of outdoor seating, both on the shade and sun. Very chill vibe. I'll be back! read more

What a cute spot! Didn't know until recently they serve more than ice cream, and good thing since there are only a few flavors. I've seen long lines here before so I'm happy to say we were the only ones there and received our order immediately. I ordered the prickly pear twist and it was the perfect summer treat. The flavor reminded me of an ice cream version of raspberry yogurt, evenly tart and sweet. They have a couple shaded tables available to the side of the building. I'll have to come back and try other items from the menu! read more

Still loving Topo. It's a great place to grab a delicious burrito, and now we've tried the soft serve ice cream as well. My husband ordered their special: kind of a salted caramel sundae cone with vanilla ice cream, a pretzel, and generous amounts of caramel in a waffle cone. It was so, so good! I loved how they distributed the caramel throughout the top, middle and bottom of the cone so you got some with every bite. I found myself in that classic couples conundrum of "No, I don't want a dessert, but sure I'll have one bite. Oh, dear God! How do I stop eating this?!?" Good thing we've been married for so long my spouse shared without a fuss. Topo should add this to their regular menu. read more

First things first. Topo is situated in the heart of downtown Gilbert next to Joe's Real BBQ. You can't miss this joint since there's a gopher sitting on top of this walk-up business and there's most likely a line of folks waiting to get their ice cream, burrito and/or elote fix. Hands down, the best things to order here is the prickly pear ice cream and elote in a bowl. There's an ordering window on the left side and a pick-up window on the right. The only form of payment they accept here is cards. And the service is pretty quick too so you won't be waiting for very long. There's a seating area outside in the back patio area as well. I never would've imagined a cactus plant could taste so good in ice cream. You also have the option to get your ice cream dipped in chocolate, lime or prickly pear and enjoy it in a bowl instead of a cone. The elote comes in a small bowl but it's filled with a ton of corn in a creamy mayo sauce topped with cilantro, cheese, and paprika (I think). I definitely see myself coming back here to try out their burritos next time I'm in town. read more

Man I love ice cream and soft serve yogurt even better. What a unique little (and I mean little) place. I have the feeling this has been a Gilbert, AZ favorite for some time. Right on the sidewalk! You order your food; tacos, drinks and soft serve yogurt. I got a Twist that was vanilla on one side and prickly pear on the other! It's situated in front of an outdoor seating area with clean restrooms and a small lawn area and even though it was the middle of the hot desert summer, evenings are not bad as there is shading. I need to take a moment to say, "Well done Gilbert, Arizona!" The town has all the cool places from Phoenix but satellites along a one mile stretch of the main road through town. And everything is right off the sidewalk with parking in back, exactly as it should be read more

Topo is a nice addition to downtown Gilbert, right next to Joe's Real BBQ. Their menu is small and consists of two burritos, elote, and soft serve. The few times I've been here, it has been busy but the line seems to go quick ... You order and pay immediately, then pick-up your food at the window. I haven't tried the Topo Burrito (comes with chicken or pork, beans, cheese, and salsa), but have enjoyed the Topo Loco Burrito several times (chicken or pork, beans, elote, fritos, hot sauce, cilantro, cheese, tomatillo crema). It has a nice flavor with the different components and a little bit of crunch from the fritos. I'm not a huge spicy food eater, so I opt to get it without hot sauce! To end your meal, I would definitely recommend getting the vanilla / prickly pear twist soft serve. It's a nice refreshing combination! We did try the prickly pear dip the first time, but I would pass on it. It was a little too thick and personally, I like the ice-cream by itself so I didn't find that it's needed. They have outdoor seating right behind Topo. It has been expanded with benches and some swings; great for kids and families. read more

I've seen this place a few times and finally decided to try it. I ordered the twist swirl of vanilla and prickly pear soft serve with the chocolate dip and I was very impressed. The ice cream was delicious and the dip had a little bit of crisp/crunch to it. I would definitely return. read more

Very good burrito, loved the big chunks of brisket and the Fritos, great seating area in back. Will be back.

Burrito was amazing. Had the topo loco. The Fritos were a nice touch and added some crunch but the real star of the show was the tomatillo creama. Service was quick and we ate outside at the benches in the back. Really good quality burrito for the price and it wasn't too heavy or greasy either. LOVE!! read more

No cash business. So make sure you have a card I tasted the prickly pear vanilla swirl soft server dipped in chocolate The dark chocolate dip was nice. The prickly pear was very sweet and overwhelmed the vanilla soft serve In summer I would suggest that the dipped ice cream be a solid hard chocolate coating before handing it over to the customer. My soft serve chocolate coating was not fully hardened when passes over to me. Normally that would not be a problem, but this is Arizona and it is hot here Things melt so quickly Fun treat to eat read more

Tried this place this weekend, and got the Topo Loco burrito and elote. Both were awesome. The elote had some nice heat to it, which was too spicy for my wife but I really liked it. The burrito was really good and the Fritos add a great crunch. The tortillas they use for the burritos are chewy and really good. My only complaint was my brief experience with the guy who called my name and gave me my food. I had asked for my food to-go, and they hadn't bagged it up. So I asked them to bag it up and the guy tosses a bag at me. I don't know, it's the little things that make or break customers' experience. Food was great though. read more

Really great burritos & soft serve. Went here last Sunday to try it out before running some errands and was not disappointed. We had the Topo Loco Burrito, my husband had pork and I had chicken. I personally preferred the chicken over the pork, but both were delightful. These burritos have a good kick to them so ask for no hot sauce if you can't handle the heat! The Prickly Pear & Vanilla swirl cone was a 10/10. We are looking forward to coming back with some friends when it's just a little bit cooler to enjoy the outside area and play some cornhole! Thanks Topo! read more

Exactly what DTG needed! The perfect, affordable and fast walk-up! Today we tried the ice cream cones and they were soooo yummy!! They're huge, and full of flavor. We got a prickly pear cone with prickly pear dip, and a vanilla cone with chocolate dip. Indulgent!! The only tip I have is that maybe skip the dip option if you plan on walking around with your ice cream, it was difficult to eat on the move and became kinda messy. Otherwise, $8 for two giant cones and delicious flavors on a warm and sunny afternoon hit the spot! read more

I really love this place the burritos are very unique and simple in a good way prices and service are always good relative to the area and what you are getting. I also enjoy the casual walk up experience and just eating right in the middle of everything going on in downtown Gilbert. My only suggestion would be to put an actual vegetarian option on the menu. I order and just have them up no meat on it and it's fine but again it would just be nice if there was 1 vegetarian option. read more

My husband and I stopped here for lunch after I found the place on Yelp. I was dying to try the prickly pear soft serve and I am so glad I did. I loved it. It was sweet and tart - it reminded me of the childhood candy 'shock tarts'. We also got a burrito to share and it was delicious. My husband tried their elote and really liked it. The ice cream cone is a must try in Gilbert! The prickly pear swirl with chocolate or lime dip are both to die for.

It's a super cute little take away joint related to Joes Real BBQ next door. Selling ice cream and Elote' which the wife loves, it's a quick stop for something yummy while strolling through old town. read more

Right on the downtownGilbert strip and right next to Joe's bbq, it's a small location with the gopher on the roof. It's a walk up restaurant to grab something quick to eat. They have a menu of burritos, Elote, ice cream to choose from. Very simple menu but pretty good choices to grab while walking around. I really have been interested in the Elote and the prickly pear ice cream. Yes kind of a strange combo but that's what I wanted. The Elote is a smaller portion but tasted pretty good. I do think the corn is a little mushy but still has a little chard taste with all the elements of crema, cotija and a little spice to it. It was pretty tasty as something small to eat. I will say the prickly pear ice cream takes the cake! Really good flavor and great consistency and I wish I added the prickly pear dip too. I'll come back for that for sure! All around cool concept and I would like to try out the burritos next time around. Definitely try out the prickly pear ice cream. Yummy! read more

After walking up and down the Historical District on Gilbert's main drag and just wanting a small 'something' we decided this was our place, There's a ton of giant restaurants here to satisfy nearly every craving but if you just want something simple and cheap so you don't ruin your dinner appetite, come here. They have a limited menu of two burrito offerings soft serve ice cream and the Mexican style corn on the cob called an Elote. Oh and cold bottles of beer:) Order up a couple burritos and cold bottle of beer from the sidewalk window and find a place in the shaded garden patio right next door and dig in. There are two filling for the burritos, one is beans, elote, Fritios, hot sauce, cilantro, cheese and tomatillo crema with either chicken or pork and is called the Topo Loco. The other is chicken or pork, beans, cheese, and salsa and is called the Topo. The Topo Loco is very flavorful and quite spicy and typically I wouldn't get Fritios in my burrito but I loved every bite of it. You'll need the cold beer! read more

I can't get over how good their soft serve ice cream is. I've never tried Topo until last night and cannot wait to go back and try all the other dips with the prickly pear ice cream. Since I'm pregnant the prickly pear ice cream makes me so happy with the tartness of it. It's absolutely perfect. Obsessed would be a huge understatement. It would be cool if someday they had an option of a waffle cone instead of the cones they have. Would elevate the ice cream so much! read more

This place is great for their ice cream. They have a very limited selection but honestly it's all they need. Their prickly pear ice cream with the lime dip is a dream and very unexpected. Topo - Chicken Topo loco - Mexican Near Me - Gilbert, Arizona

If I could I would actually give 3.5 stars, but it seemed like the right thing to do when many businesses are operating under the strains of COVID is to round up instead of down. There was no line and my order was taken right away so I appreciate that. Ordered a Chicken Topo Loco bowl-style and a side of Elote, which came out to be $12.94. My not-so-careful self meant to tip $0.06 and have it round up to an even $13 but instead accidentally tipped $6, and I hit okay too quickly. Having worked with various POS systems, I was almost certain that there was nothing the cashier could have done so I decided not to bother with it. I decided that tipping almost 50% would be my good deed of the day. However, I was extremely disappointed that after tipping that much, they didn't even put the hot sauce on the side! My partner and I were supposed to share the bowl but because he is super sensitive to spicy food, he ended up having to settle for a light lunch and only eating the Elote. The food was great though, especially the Elote, do not get me wrong. And I wouldn't say it's a big bang for your buck, but pretty good value. A solid 8/10. My original plan was to come back and order a Prickly Pear soft serve after finishing lunch (I didn't order it the same time as the food because I wanted to eat first but I didn't want it to melt), but after having spent more than I was supposed to, I told myself I needed to skip on dessert. read more

Quick easy meal . Great location to sit / watch the crowds . Burritos were good (2 choices). Love the ice cream !

I may have had too high of an expectation, based on reviews. I thought the burrito was just OK. Really no choice of what you buy, other than regular or adding elote and spicing up the burrito. Prickly pear soft serve was also ok, but nothing to keep returning for. read more

After spending the morning at Bergie's, we decided to hop over to Topo for some lunch and ice cream cones. My husband and I split the pork burrito with beans, cheese and salsa. It was delicious! We went back and both got dipped cones. I got this month's special, the mint Oreo, which is vanilla ice cream coated in Oreo crumbles and dipped in mint. It was messy, but delectable. My husband ordered the prickly pear with lime dipping which was also tasty! This is just a small little stand, so there's no indoor seating, but there is plenty of picnic table seating around back in a nice open grassy area. My only complaint is the lack of trash cans. We had to walk over to Joe's (not far, just right next to Topo) and find small garbage cans to throw our wrappers and napkins away as we didn't want to leave them lying on the tables to blow away onto the grass. Since the ice cream was messy due to the warm temps and fast melting, we did use the convenient outdoor sink at the back of Joe's to rinse our hands off. Good thing we found this, as we were only given napkins at Topo. Would be nice to receive wet naps with the ice cream. Overall, really good! We will be back. read more

Amazing I love it here it's perfect. Line is long but worth it. Try dipping your ice cream. I love the vibe.

Came for the ice cream, almost convinced myself to buy seconds after finishing the first round. The prickly pear ice cream is so flavorful and fruity. Has to be one of my favorite soft served ice creams. The lime topping however could have been done without. It tasted a bit waxy and became an obstacle to get to the ice cream. Still giving this restaurant 5 stars for the ice cream, just go without the dip. read more

Yum! We stopped by Topo for a quick dessert after having dinner and drinks in the area. Seems there is always a line here, which is a pretty good sign! They were unfortunately out of just about everything, including all icecream flavors but vanilla, so I will definitely have to come back to try the prickly pear icecream.
