Great vibes, the techs are all so friendly. Great color options and speedy service. Results always come out looking good! Thankfully they validate for parking however there's still usually an additional $5 to cover so that is probably the only downside. Other than that I love this place!

It has become a monthly routine for me to come to Topcoat for my eyebrows and gel X extensions. I can't imagine going anywhere else in the city! I've seen a drastic change in my nail health since becoming a customer of theirs a few years ago. And I've lost count how many times people compliment me on my eyebrow shape. Every one in Topcoat is skilled and knows what they're doing. They have fun with it, the vibe is fun and lighthearted-- but they are about their business so make sure you make an appointment. I wish more nail salons were appointment only because it allows everyone to be in and out on time.

I have been client for over two years and these ladies never disappoint. Amy and her staff are always pleasant and professional. Not to mention the salon is always clean and sanitized after each client. I just get a gel manicure and regular pedicure, my polish lasts up to 3 weeks. They do not take walk-ins, so making an appointment is a definite to secure your spot . They also validate parking as well. They still adhere to the mask policy, so make sure you have a mask with you when getting services rendered. These ladies always keep my nails in tip top shape

My search for a great nail salon in Baltimore continues... this time I thought I'd give Topcoat a try after hearing great things on Yelp and reading about their non-toxic products. You must make an appointment with Topcoat - no walk ins - and when booking, they ask for a $30 deposit per service that will go towards your total cost. I booked a gel pedicure and gel manicure so my deposit was $60. You can get it back as long as you cancel within 24 hours. Before booking, they also let me know they offer $5 validated parking at the Harbor Park Garage which is great since their shop is right near the busy Power Plant Live area. When I entered, I was pleased with how clean, airy, and bright the shop was. Lots of plants, minimalist decor, and fun music playing. It's a loft style set up with pedicure and manicure stations downstairs and what I'm guessing is lash or waxing services upstairs. Their Covid-19 policies were clearly laid out and they have you sign a quick waiver and take your temperature. This place seems to really be on top of Covid precautions! The pedicure was really amazing - my tech took her time with the massage even though it was just a basic pedicure (many places skip the massage or don't take their time, but my girl was putting in work). The pedicure finished with a hot towel and I was left feeling relaxed and renewed. The gel pedicure was efficient and meticulously done. I have very short nails so she made sure to just file them into shape and not cut them down. I appreciated that since I'm trying to grow them out. She started to put my color on and then asked if I liked it before continuing - I'm glad she asked because what I picked was more shimmery than my preference so she grabbed a different color based on what I described and completely hit the nail on the head. She even finished with a hand massage using Baltimore's very own Mount Royal Soap lotion! Kudos to them for using locally sourced products! The total was $115 ($50 for the manicure and $65 for the pedicure). This is definitely on the pricey end but I'm willing to pay a little extra for great service and results. I've had great experiences at other nail salons but after a week or two, the polish seems to chip or peel and the results just aren't worth the money. My experience at Topcoat was great so now we must wait to see if the results last as long as I hope (2+ weeks would be great). It seems like they use quality products so finger(nails) crossed!

I came to Topcoat looking to get my nails done for the summer, and I was honestly blown away by the experience! I love that they're a small, family founded business local to the Baltimore area. But I also love the emphasis they place on using non-toxic products and keeping their clients (and workers) safe! The salon was clean, booking the appointment was easy. Thanh, my nail tech, was so patient with me in my indecision and helped me figure out what design to do- we settled on this geometric design that feels and looks clean. Would recommend this nail salon to anyone in the Baltimore area!

Topcoat is one of the nicest and most expensive salons I have visited. This salon caters to young black millennial women that take their nails very seriously. If you show them a photo to recreate, they will understand the assignment. I was very impressed by the cleanliness and professionalism of the staff. You have to book an appointment to be serviced here. I put down a deposit of $60 for a dip manicure with design and gel pedicure. Deposits are non-refundable if you do not show up. Also, they give you a $5 valet for parking. Once I arrived they took my temperature and I had to sanitize my hands. They took off the gel polish I had on previously and began my pedicure. I am so happy they did that before my pedicure that way I could play on my phone without the foil on my fingertips. The entire experience was relaxing, I enjoyed my conversation with Amy, she is very sweet. The manicure was also relaxing and they take their time to service you. Your appointment can take about 2 hours. Hannah paid close attention to so many details, the only thing that is missing is mimosas and wine. Again this salon is on the pricey side, my total due was $120 after my deposit (not including a tip). So my total payment was just over $200. This price tag is way too much for me to visit monthly, maybe once or twice a year for a special occasion.

Sigh, well I feel bad even writing this, but I left disappointed today. The positive, the shop is nice, big clean and overall very friendly staff. The negative is my art and nail shape/ placement was terrible. My nail tech was very friendly and informed me she was able to do the art no problem. So I didn't want to question the process, I know sometimes getting nails done it can look crazy up to the last coat so I never question the process. I don't have the best eyesight, but once I got in the car, I realized how bad the design was. It's not even close to what I asked for and I didn't feel right asking for a refund or for a discount just because booking online I did agree all sales were final, also your card is on file so I assumed they would just charge me anyways. Overall, just not happy. I had to go somewhere else to have them fix the art. ... I wish I lived closer because I would definitely be frequenting Topcoat on a monthly basis! If you're looking for nail designs, Thanh, Amy, and Jennifer are the best at bringing your vision into a reality. I brought in a photo of a design that I liked and Thanh exceeded my expectations. COVID restrictions are in full force here, which gives me great peace of mind! Appointments are required due to the limited indoor capacity. Proper wear and social distancing is enforced throughout the salon. You must have your temperature checked and sanitize your hands when you check-in. The staff also uses gloves for your service and they take the time to sanitize each area after each customer is finished. There's a wide variety of colors in SNS and gel as well as regular polish. Both the manicure and pedicure I received were heavenly and super relaxing. Each nail technician takes their time for each service so you won't feel rushed at all. I would definitely recommend treating yourself here!

Came here for some me-time and I feel in love with the space. They had great covid measures, and the place was clean and spacious. They have individually packaged tools for pedicures, which made me feel really good about the cleanliness of the salon. Thanh, was a great. She helped me pick a color since I couldn't decide. Very clean studio and professional and kind nail artists! Regular pedicure felt like a special spa experience. Great gel manicure with attention to detail esp since i have short nails. They use materials that are less toxic than most. Worth the price! Highly recommend.

I had the pleasure of visiting Topcoat last Saturday (7/31). My time there was nothing short of amazing. The staff here are kind and attentive. They've really created a peaceful atmosphere. First, this place gets booked really fast so it's best to call in advance. I called a week in advance and set my appointment. I had to pay a deposit of $80 to secure my appointment for the gel x manicure. I started off with a pedicure and then got a gel x manicure. The pedicure was great. The person who did it was very nice and took their time. My manicure came out wonderful. The nail tech was great and did the designs exactly like the picture I showed them. My total for everything was $190. Was it worth it? In my opinion no. The only reason I say this is my nails started to lift on day 3. I do not wash dishes or do anything out of the ordinary with my nails and I was very confused because I read that gel x nails are supposed to last much longer than acrylic. Unfortunately, that was not my case. I've only had them for a week as of today and I'm pretty disappointed with how they've held up. I've paid significantly less and they would still look fresh by day 4-5. This place is great and the staff is wonderful but for the price and with how long they've lasted, it's just not worth it. Ok so I've been looking for a good nail salon and thank the lord I found it. The techs are so nice and welcoming. There's no overwhelming chemical smell. Mind you I came straight from working a 13 hour night shift at the hospital and they made me feel so good. I was relaxed and the service it self was perfect. The girl doing my nails made sure to ask if my nails were the way I wanted them always. Did them exactly like the picture. Also did my eyebrows and they did an amazing job. My toes were perfection too and super soft. I can't complain! 10/10 recommend. read more

I haven't gone to get a manicure or pedicure since March 2020, as a result of the pandemic. I came in with crusty feet and I left with immaculate new ones. I was able to book my appointment just a few days before and the service was great. There were some delays that were out of their control and they were great in communicating the changes. I am so pleased with my pedicure, I booked another appointment to get my nails done! My technician was friendly and I didn't feel rushed at all! Everything was so so clean!!!! I've only been to this shop two times and I can already tell it's going to be a favorite! The first time I visited, I got a manicure AND pedicure. I would definitely go back for a manicure again, but found myself just wanting my toes to look nice for this last month of summer. Cici did my gel pedicure today and let me tell you...she did NOT miss! She checked in with me every step of the way to make sure the water temperature wasn't too hot for my feet. She also routinely checked in to make sure I liked the shape of my nails. She did a great job! This shop has also taken COVID-19 seriously, ensuring ample spacing between clients and lining the pedicure bowl with plastic that gets changed after each client. I just had an awesome experience at Topcoat. I called to make an appointment. When I arrived, I was pleasantly welcomed and asked to do a temperature check. Once completed, I was escorted to the chair where I was greeted by Amy. She made me feel really comfortable. She gave me a service menu and some advice on the different options since this was the second time getting a pedicure. LOL Once I made my decision she started and the experience was really nice. After not going to the nail salon for a couple months I was very hesitant about going back with everything going on. My worries were much relieved as soon as I walked into the salon. They are taking extra cleaning precautions, spacing out appointments, and have hand sanitizer EVERYWHERE. In addition to which I was the only one in the salon the whole time. Jennifer was awesome and really took the time to give my toes some much needed cleaning/polish while maintaining appropriate precautions. I will definitely be back! read more

I don't understand the positive reviews on this place. I have been searching for a good nail salon in the city and came here to find a higher end nail salon experience and was paired with possibly the worst nail tech I have ever had named Cici. The ambiance of this shop is cute but that's the only pro. The cons are many: sloppy nail polish application with polish and top coat all over my skin, crooked filing, no hospitality (the customer next to me was offered water while the owner proceeded to multitask and man the front desk but I never got offered water). Cici didn't even completely remove my old polish before sloppily painting on the new polish, despite my pointing it out. I canceled my manicure when the pedicure was done and will not be back-when I told the manager I was unhappy with my service, she just told me my balance and said to try another tech. The prices are clearly just to cover the Pratt St. rent. $80 for a terrible pedicure. Do not waste your money! read more

I absolutely LOVED this place! First off, booking an appointment through their website was extremely easy. When I arrived, I immediately noticed how welcoming and comfortable the space was -- it was also very clean, and they sanitized frequently which made me very comfortable. I got their CDB pedicure which I was extremely satisfied with. The whole process super super relaxing. Topcoat provided an amazing, enjoyable experience here and I most definitely will be returning soon! read more

Honestly had a very bad experience. I had gone requesting a specific nail design and my nail tech either pretended or genuinely did not know what ombré or matte meant... so I paid almost $80 for nails I didn't like but because they require a deposit, I wasn't going to leave and lose money. After everything the dip nails lasted a week and a half. Also wasn't offered any water or anything which isn't a huge deal but if I'm paying $80 I'd kind of expect a bit better service. read more

Mediocre. My gel polish kept chipping, nails broke and toe nail polish was cheap and got dirty. I would not recommend, especially being that their quality does not match their prices. Try city nails instead. Will not be coming back EVER. read more

I got my nails done at this salon for my birthday, just a standard mani/pedi. The salon appeared very clean and comfortable and I enjoyed myself while I was there. However, two weeks later when I removed the polish off my toes it appears that I had developed a nail fungus from my pedicure. I have never experienced this before and it is clearly a result of dirty tools/pedicure bowls at this salon. So disappointing as I was set back $100 with tip and tax for a basic mani/pedi with regular polish. This was the first time I've had my nails done since COVID started and although it was nice in the moment, I now have a terrible fungus situation to treat over the summer. Definitely not going back again and would not recommend it, the price is too high and clearly they did not sanitize their tools well enough. read more

Came in for a pedi and gel mani but switched to dipping as soon as i arrived. I was in love during my pedicure and thought I found a great nail salon. However, when it was time to start on my hands the lady sat me at the booth, said she'd be right back and was gone for 30 minutes. I sat there with my hands in water for 20 min before anyone said something. She started a client upstairs and decided I would wait for her to be done. If changing my service messed up the scheduling it should've been communicated. I could've rescheduled or agreed to wait. But to disrespect me and lack any courtesy is unprofessional and unforgivable. I know it's because I was a black woman that they felt comfortable with how they treated me. Hope I find a salon that appreciates me and my business. Still tipped too. read more

We went in for manis and pedis. I had Jennifer and my boyfriend had one of the sisters that owns the salon (blanking on her name). It was such a great experience. The aesthetics of the salon are so chic and relaxing. The massage chairs for pedicures were the best massage chairs I've sat in. The place is so clean and my nails look great. If you are picky, this is your place! I drove over an hour to visit with my mother this week and I am so so glad I did. First of all, the salon is female owned which I LOVE. Second, it is clean, calm, and the vibes are just right here. They have amazing Covid protocols in place as well such as temp check, sanitation, social distancing etc. I'll be back and I think I've found my new go to nail spot despite the drive! read more

My favorite spot. This is me and my hubby's relaxing time. The vibe that has been created in TopCoat is ah-mazing!!!! I've been going to Amy since she was at her last nail shop in Gambrills. Hear me y'all--I travel from Bowie to the Inner Harbor! Amy is like family to me. She's a sweetheart, kind, has a great sense of humor, is meticulous, and very creative. The shop is CLEAN! They're appointment only and have plenty of colors to select from. They're taking COVID-19 protocols seriously. Street parking or you have the option to park in the garage in the building. I'm always able to find street parking. The entire family and staff are theeeeee best (Kim, Thanh, Nam, and Helen). Go treat yourself and maybe your boo. read more

I found out about topcoat through the Yelp Instagram. When I heard that they were a family owned women-led business I just new I had to check it out. Their IG is extremely helpful and informative when it comes to figuring where to park, COVID requirements when entering the store etc.. When I first arrived I was greeted by Amy and Thahn (both owners) I came for a a pedicure and honestly it was the best pedi I've ever had. I got the wellness pedi since I hadn't had one since March. I love how well Amy did my feet. The salon is brand new and very COVID safe. They use 100% organic nail polishes are chemical free and safer than typical brands you'd fine in other salons. The quality was superb and they were so kind a approachable. I went back a 2nd time and got my nails done and it was the same experience. Very safe, super professional and not once was I rushed. Everyone in the salon is great so you can go to just about anyone and have a great experience whatever service you are getting. I can't wait to come back and get my nails again. I definitely plan on being a regular at Top Coat! read more

It's SO nice and clean in there! We were visiting MD from NY for my birthday and we didn't have the time to get our feet done at home so we booked here. Somehow only 1 out of the 3 appointments went through and I was a bit sad at first but then Amy fit me in quickly. She did a great job on both me and my sister. FAVORITE NAIL SALON EVER! From the product quality to the color choices to the amazing services, to the location and aesthetic of the place - truly a wonderful experience. Best dip manicure I have had in all of Baltimore. The pedicures are phenomenal. This last time I went in a week and a half before my appointment to get one nail redone because I slammed my hand in a door and broke a nail. Not only did they tell me to come in that same day, they also put a tip on the broken nail to make it the same length as my other nails, fixed another nail that had a crack in it( also my fault), as well as redid the top surface of the rest of my manicure so that the two new nails matched, and on top of all of that they didn't even charge me!!! I have been going to top coat since last winter and I can't say enough great things about them. If you are planning to go for your first time, I would recommend booking one to two weeks in advance. It was $5 extra to get either the coffin or almond shape. The cat eye nail polish is an extra $15 as well. I also got a classic gel pedicure for $50. My salonist, Bee, finished my pedicure and did a great job in 30 minutes. The builder gel manicure did take about 2 hours and I was there past their closing time. I had my first appointment here on September 4th for a full acrylic set with gel polish. I have no…read morecomplaints about this set, and all nails remained in tact with no lifting until my fill. I made an appointment for a fill on Saturday, October 11th because the original set was holding up so well. During this appointment, I had the nail tech make the shape a bit more to my liking and did a simple French tip design. During the appointment, I noticed that (unlike other fills I've gotten), she did not go around the base of the nail to clip any potential lifting-- she just went straight into applying a new layer of acrylic. I'm not the professional, so I didn't think anything of it. The design came out beautiful, and I was again happy with the service. Unfortunately, two days later on Monday, October 13th, half of a nail popped off when I was wiping my hands. The acrylic popped off, but did not cause any damage to my nail underneath. They are closed Tuesdays, so I called on Wednesday to ask when I could come in to have the nail fixed. Ordinarily, when a customer is inconvenienced because of an application error, I would expect the service provider to correct it immediately. Instead, they told me to come in Thursday. I was slightly disappointed, but agreed. On Thursday, October 16th I went in and got the nail fixed. During this appointment, the nail tech noted she filed down too low on my nails and checked the integrity of the rest of the nails. She fixed the broken nail, and I was on my way. Two days later on Saturday, October 18th, I knocked a different nail on the stove. I've been getting acrylic nails for a decade and have jammed my nails much much worse and not caused any damage. This was merely a graze on the top of the stove. On Sunday, October 19th, I realized that this caused a crack in the middle of the nail. With some finesse, I was able to get the tip off without disrupting my natural nail, but this had already caused a complete tear to the middle of my nail bed, so I had to clip my natural nail down. Within a week of getting the fill, I've had two nail breaks and this was not due to any aggressive treatment to my hands. Worse, this second break has gone down to the middle of the nail bed, so I can't get this fixed. This is a luxury service and this shop has add on costs for everything (including for certain shapes). I can't, in good conscience, recommend this shop or its technicians because there are clearly quality assurance issues. The only reason I would return is to get the rest of this set soaked off because it is clearly a hazard. For the price, absolutely unacceptable.

The experience at Topcoat is like no other nail salon . Topcoat has all of Covid 19 regulations. The place is immaculate, chic and fabulous. I love that Topcoat products are all organic.
