They've got great techs and the quality of the final look is great but the customer service leaves a little something to be desired. A deposit is required and they're not very flexible, even if seemingly empty/not overbooked. If you're worried about cutting it close to your appointment time (weather, traffic, etc.) I wouldn't recommend, since they weren't accommodating. I had to haggle over my appointment time and still was charged over and above my booking (basically lost my deposit) for being slightly late due to rainy weather.
They never disappoint!! They can do any request you make as long as you can provide a photo! I always get compliments at my office.
The luxurious vibe of this salon is Only the Beginning! The quality of service. The Respect for each individual client and the Constant EXCEEDING of my High expectations is UNMATCHED!! THAHN I know I our connection was established long before I stepped foot into your business and I'm so Elated that I've Finally found YOU. No matter the idea I come in with, you customize it for my decidedly short nail style and leave me Giggling like a little girl-anxious to show all of my friends!!! Thank You for your kindness and Professionalism and Super friendly support staff. My Birthday nails are so glamorous and I can't wait to sit in your chair next. Ladies and Gentlemen Come on In! YOU'LL be So GLAD you did
Great vibes, the techs are all so friendly. Great color options and speedy service. Results always come out looking good! Thankfully they validate for parking however there's still usually an additional $5 to cover so that is probably the only downside. Other than that I love this place!
It has become a monthly routine for me to come to Topcoat for my eyebrows and gel X extensions. I can't imagine going anywhere else in the city! I've seen a drastic change in my nail health since becoming a customer of theirs a few years ago. And I've lost count how many times people compliment me on my eyebrow shape. Every one in Topcoat is skilled and knows what they're doing. They have fun with it, the vibe is fun and lighthearted-- but they are about their business so make sure you make an appointment. I wish more nail salons were appointment only because it allows everyone to be in and out on time.
I have been client for over two years and these ladies never disappoint. Amy and her staff are always pleasant and professional. Not to mention the salon is always clean and sanitized after each client. I just get a gel manicure and regular pedicure, my polish lasts up to 3 weeks. They do not take walk-ins, so making an appointment is a definite to secure your spot . They also validate parking as well. They still adhere to the mask policy, so make sure you have a mask with you when getting services rendered. These ladies always keep my nails in tip top shape
My search for a great nail salon in Baltimore continues... this time I thought I'd give Topcoat a try after hearing great things on Yelp and reading about their non-toxic products. You must make an appointment with Topcoat - no walk ins - and when booking, they ask for a $30 deposit per service that will go towards your total cost. I booked a gel pedicure and gel manicure so my deposit was $60. You can get it back as long as you cancel within 24 hours. Before booking, they also let me know they offer $5 validated parking at the Harbor Park Garage which is great since their shop is right near the busy Power Plant Live area. When I entered, I was pleased with how clean, airy, and bright the shop was. Lots of plants, minimalist decor, and fun music playing. It's a loft style set up with pedicure and manicure stations downstairs and what I'm guessing is lash or waxing services upstairs. Their Covid-19 policies were clearly laid out and they have you sign a quick waiver and take your temperature. This place seems to really be on top of Covid precautions! The pedicure was really amazing - my tech took her time with the massage even though it was just a basic pedicure (many places skip the massage or don't take their time, but my girl was putting in work). The pedicure finished with a hot towel and I was left feeling relaxed and renewed. The gel pedicure was efficient and meticulously done. I have very short nails so she made sure to just file them into shape and not cut them down. I appreciated that since I'm trying to grow them out. She started to put my color on and then asked if I liked it before continuing - I'm glad she asked because what I picked was more shimmery than my preference so she grabbed a different color based on what I described and completely hit the nail on the head. She even finished with a hand massage using Baltimore's very own Mount Royal Soap lotion! Kudos to them for using locally sourced products! The total was $115 ($50 for the manicure and $65 for the pedicure). This is definitely on the pricey end but I'm willing to pay a little extra for great service and results. I've had great experiences at other nail salons but after a week or two, the polish seems to chip or peel and the results just aren't worth the money. My experience at Topcoat was great so now we must wait to see if the results last as long as I hope (2+ weeks would be great). It seems like they use quality products so finger(nails) crossed!
I came to Topcoat looking to get my nails done for the summer, and I was honestly blown away by the experience! I love that they're a small, family founded business local to the Baltimore area. But I also love the emphasis they place on using non-toxic products and keeping their clients (and workers) safe! The salon was clean, booking the appointment was easy. Thanh, my nail tech, was so patient with me in my indecision and helped me figure out what design to do- we settled on this geometric design that feels and looks clean. Would recommend this nail salon to anyone in the Baltimore area!
Topcoat is one of the nicest and most expensive salons I have visited. This salon caters to young black millennial women that take their nails very seriously. If you show them a photo to recreate, they will understand the assignment. I was very impressed by the cleanliness and professionalism of the staff. You have to book an appointment to be serviced here. I put down a deposit of $60 for a dip manicure with design and gel pedicure. Deposits are non-refundable if you do not show up. Also, they give you a $5 valet for parking. Once I arrived they took my temperature and I had to sanitize my hands. They took off the gel polish I had on previously and began my pedicure. I am so happy they did that before my pedicure that way I could play on my phone without the foil on my fingertips. The entire experience was relaxing, I enjoyed my conversation with Amy, she is very sweet. The manicure was also relaxing and they take their time to service you. Your appointment can take about 2 hours. Hannah paid close attention to so many details, the only thing that is missing is mimosas and wine. Again this salon is on the pricey side, my total due was $120 after my deposit (not including a tip). So my total payment was just over $200. This price tag is way too much for me to visit monthly, maybe once or twice a year for a special occasion.
I wish I lived closer because I would definitely be frequenting Topcoat on a monthly basis! If you're looking for nail designs, Thanh, Amy, and Jennifer are the best at bringing your vision into a reality. I brought in a photo of a design that I liked and Thanh exceeded my expectations. COVID restrictions are in full force here, which gives me great peace of mind! Appointments are required due to the limited indoor capacity. Proper wear and social distancing is enforced throughout the salon. You must have your temperature checked and sanitize your hands when you check-in. The staff also uses gloves for your service and they take the time to sanitize each area after each customer is finished. There's a wide variety of colors in SNS and gel as well as regular polish. Both the manicure and pedicure I received were heavenly and super relaxing. Each nail technician takes their time for each service so you won't feel rushed at all. I would definitely recommend treating yourself here!
Came here for some me-time and I feel in love with the space. They had great covid measures, and the place was clean and spacious. They have individually packaged tools for pedicures, which made me feel really good about the cleanliness of the salon. Thanh, was a great. She helped me pick a color since I couldn't decide. She did a great job with a basic manicure and pedicure. I can't wait to go back.
I really enjoyed my experience here . It was a perfect self-care day. GLOWS: - Friendly service (ensures that you get things done the way you ask for them) - I called last minute and they called back when cancellations happened to get me in - Super clean- covid procedures on point - the decor is nice! Love it. **The pricing is the pricing, but I cannot swing paying almost $200 for nails, toes, and eyebrows, so this won't be a frequent occurrence***
Sigh, well I feel bad even writing this, but I left disappointed today. The positive, the shop is nice, big clean and overall very friendly staff. The negative is my art and nail shape/ placement was terrible. My nail tech was very friendly and informed me she was able to do the art no problem. So I didn't want to question the process, I know sometimes getting nails done it can look crazy up to the last coat so I never question the process. I don't have the best eyesight, but once I got in the car, I realized how bad the design was. It's not even close to what I asked for and I didn't feel right asking for a refund or for a discount just because booking online I did agree all sales were final, also your card is on file so I assumed they would just charge me anyways. Overall, just not happy. I had to go somewhere else to have them fix the art. ... I just wish they would've specified that all the nail art online is most likely probably coming from one tech or just be honest you're not able to do the art asked for. ... the pictures below are what I asked for and what I

I found Topcoat on Yelp after doing some digging to try and find an open salon amongst Covid closures. They just opened downtown 3 weeks ago and are taking safety measures seriously. No walk-ins at the moment, but it was simple to make a next day appointment online. The salon itself is very modern, clean, and classy. The ladies are really amazing and funny, which is nice as I normally go get my nails done alone. It opens up the opportunity for conversation with the nail artist. I can't remember my artist's name (she is from VA) but I loved her. I came in with a picture and described what I wanted and she took her time and did beautiful work. I got an Ombré dip with coffin shaping and it ended up being around $73 with the 10% discount they are running (tip not included). If you park in the Harborplace garage right behind the building you can ask for a voucher at the end which will discount your parking cost. I'll be returning to try out the other services, I'm in need of a pedicure. read more

I had the most amazing experience at Topcoat this evening. FYI, they are appointment ONLY! So call ahead and book your appointment!! Amy I believe is the manager/owner greeted me first. She was very nice and even texted me before my appointment to confirm and let me know they were running a little behind. VERY GOOD CUSTOMER SERVICE! Hannah was my nail tech. I'm always used to two different techs doing my mani and pedi but Hannah did everything (pedi and dip nails with tips). And she did everything well. I'm only here in Baltimore for a few months and I'm so happy to have found a salon that's clean, friendly staff and COVID friendly! Thanks again Hannah! read more

I can't recommend Topcoat enough! They are a new non-toxic, organic nail salon. It was very evident that they were taking all the right health and safety precautions due COVID seriously. They took your temperature when you walked in, everyone was wearing masks, they had plexi-glass up and they were sanitizing after each guest. Also, they are limiting the amount of guests that are in the salon with you, by making it appointment only. It was super easy to book using their online system & the overall ambiance of Topcoat was tranquil and relaxing and just very high quality. I can't recommend Topcoat enough! read more

What a great find! I am very discerning when it comes to my nails. I decided to find someplace local to have my nails done before dinner. And I'm so glad that I did! Jennifer did a WONDERFUL job with shaping, only lightly trimming my cuticles (as I'd asked), and helping me to choose an accent nail color! The place is SUPER clean, licenses are displayed, the techs are very friendly and I will definitely return for a pedicure and maybe lashes. Thx Top Coat! read more

This was the absolute best experience at a nail salon that I have EVER had in my life. Everything was a 10/10. The interior design of the space, the options for toxin free, nail damage free nail polish. The spa ads on options that are all organic ingredients. The exceptional staff! I got the green tea spa pedicure option with essential oils, a leg mask, organic scrub massage and oil Massage. It was the BEST foot/leg massage and the BEST pedicure I have ever had. Thana slayed my toes. It was SO RELAXING. Such a Divine experience. And she did a PHENOMENAL job on my nails!! They were attentive, listened deeply to my concerns and requests and TOOK THEIR TIME! I could have stayed there all day getting every service that they offered. I can't wait to go back. This place is a GEM. Well worth the money!! read more

I had a very relaxing organic pedicure that came out great!! My service was not rushed at all and my feet/legs felt amazing afterwards!! The salon itself is absolutely beautiful, clean, and all of the staff are friendly and happy to be there. The massage chairs were amazing too. Great selection of polish that is all organized by color! They're located right on Pratt St in the inner harbor next to blackwall hitch so parking can be tricky but otherwise I had a superb experience and I can't wait to come back! read more

Andy and Jennifer were fantastic. The Organic pedi's ($55) were incredible. One of the best pedi's I've ever had. This salon is stunning. Open concept, clean and modern. Parked at Harbour Garage but there's street parking as well. We checked in on Yelp and got $5 off our services : ) I highly recommend this place and will continue to come even though it's a bit far for me. read more

I absolutely love this place. It's immaculate, everyone is friendly and accommodating, and the attention to detail in services is flawless. The decor is a clean and modern aesthetic. I feel totally safe getting a mani/pedi at Topcoat with their COVID protocols in place. The spa pedi is TO DIE FOR. This was my first time visiting Topcoat. I was looking for a somewhere to get a pedicure and went to Yelp to search for places nearby. I called Saturday morning and was able to get an appointment for that afternoon. This was by far the best pedicure I've ever had. Louie was the technician that serviced me. He was so friendly and really did an excellent job. I plan on making this my go to spot for pedicures. read more

While it's a great space and I felt very safe going in during covid, my gel manicure didn't even last a week before peeling on both hands. For charging $45 I expect my gel manicure to at least last two weeks. I can usually get to three weeks out of a gel manicure. You can see from the photos that my nails are chipped on almost all my fingers. read more

Um...what! I was looking forward to my appointment which I booked on Tuesday for Saturday however I've changed my mind and am completely turned off by their booking policy. They called me today asking for $80 deposit! That's nearly the cost of the service!! It's non-refundable. Unheard of! A deposit for a manicure... $80 deposit... No thank you! (When booking online there was no mention of a deposit and it's $80 non-refundable lol for a nail appt...) She was annoyed when I asked for some time to think and frantically gave me till tomorrow to decide... I'm keeping my money, thank you very much! Thank you for the customer service response. I appreciate what you are doing for your business and now understand why it is the way it is. I hope to visit soon! read more

Had to make a bit of an "emergency" appointment for a mani/pedi right before a conference. Hands down best dip nail I've ever received! My technician trimmed my cuticles before the dip nail and it really made a difference. Maybe that is common practice (?) but no one has ever done that during my dip nail appointments at other salons. The pedicure chairs were super comfortable and everything was really clean. Will definitely be back for the great service and friendly/thoughtful staff. read more
