Thank you for coming to my Yelp Talk: TLDR: I won't be returning to Harbour Nails & Spa. I'm pretty confident they won't miss me, a client they've never had. I'm sharing hoping to help someone else from making the same mistake I made and hoping HN does better. I asked for the latest availability when I rang for an appointment. They gave me 7pm. I explained what I wanted done and confirmed I'll be able to get it. I was reassured. About seven minutes after coming off the phone, they rang and asked if I could come in for 6pm instead. I told them that would be difficult as I had just made another appointment for a pedi at 6pm. I said I would get there as soon as I finished and asked if that was okay. They said it was. I went to my other appointment earlier and was seen to immediately so I was able to get to Harbor Nails at 6:15. When I walked in and I gave my name the lady looked at me like I had fangs coming out of my mouth. I repeated my name and my appointment time 7pm but that I was asked to come in earlier. She still looked clueless. She started scrolling through her phone. After a minute of me just standing there I asked if there was a problem. She said she won't be able to do my nails today. I responded rather stoically, "you called and asked me to come in earlier, I changed things around and now you're saying my appointment is cancelled?" She just looked at me. I showed her my call log asking "is this your number?"  She said yes. "Well that's the number that rang and requested that I get here as soon as I could." She kept staring at me. I tried again, "so you won't be able to see me for my APPOINTMENT TODAY?" She said no. I replied "okay thank you"  and I turned and started walking out. She shouted after me, (not rudely just loudly) "YOU COME BACK SEVEN!" Huh? I was extremely annoyed. What a waste of time. I came all the way to this side of town thinking they honoured their appointments. A few minutes later. **Ring Ring** "Hello" "Hello did you call?" The voice on my line asked. It was a different voice than the lady I interacted with at the shop. I said no I didn't call again but asked why they cancelled my appointment without informing me. She said it wasn't cancelled they just pushed it back because they have to take walk-ins. I know how this works. I'm not against you making your money. However this isn't the way you make potential customers WITH APPOINTMENTS feel. All you had to do was pick up the phone. She asked if I was coming back. I told her it was okay I'll be taking my business elsewhere. I left the shop and walked across the street to the plaza searching my phone for another spot when I found INSPIRE NAILS in the same plaza I was at! Under new management with a shop as dazzling as they are nice. I was happy! As I was leaving inspire with my nails looking all pretty and crisp, I had my Pretty Woman Moment. I held my hand up to HARBOUR NAILS and said "BIG MISTAKE, HUGE". (I play way too much) Mike at the brand new INSPIRE NAILS is now MY NAIL GUY! To be clear, I cannot speak on their nail techniques because I wasn't able to have a service done. The End. read more

I wanted to love this place but they are a bit rough with you to the point of pain, the place is small and cramped, the wine they give you is the nasty cheap stuff, and the gal who did my nails was DRAMA. Like yelling at a man on her phone where customers could hear drama. Do not bring that kind of energy into your work place. (There are 2 Yelp pages for this place, unsure why) I was looking for a shop that did a builder gel manicure (very few do!) and came across this place online. Online booking was easy and I paid ahead of time. A pro of this place is that it is affordable. A few things: -the manicure stations weren't the cleanest. -gel removal was part of my service, and there was no soaking or foil/acetone wraps, just a series of drills. So nail health isn't a concern here. If a drill is brought out at the end of removal, fine. But when they use it for all of removal, they are motivated by time and not nail health -my manicurist didn't really engage me, which is totally fine, but when it comes to things like nail shape and etc, I had to assert this information unprompted. My nails are short right now but the extent of drilling and filing down means that a lost some length. -she was rough with my hands -I'm likely spoiled but I'm used to regularly getting builder gel at an organic/toxic free shop. I did not place those expectations on this shop, however she told me that the builder gel sometimes burns. I've never experienced that in my life, but one or two of my nails burned a bit, which felt concerning, even with the warning -the place needs better ventilation--i don't ever get lightheaded but the fumes bothered me a bit My nails look good, the place is affordable, but I will likely not return. This place doesn't really distinguish itself from a run of the mill shop (and that's okay!). I just need a bit more. read more

I used my remaining class pass points to get a gel mani and pedi. I enjoyed my experience and can't complain. The salon isn't the fanciest but has a lot of charm. Seems to be a row home converted into a nail salon. read more

Convenient location from home. It is decently priced. I wish they took Apple Pay. I appreciate them correcting mistakes. I had a terrible paint job and the owner was quick to ensure I was satisfied. Her quality of work is superior. It's a small location which I enjoy because I come to relax/get out not hear 50+ customer over talk each other. read more

I didn't see the salon sanitizing the tools. nail polishes are old and chip after 2 days of wear.my nails also broke bc the way they file destroys your nails. my nails were filed to different shapes. they didn't apply cream to my hands for manicure. Ambiance is not relaxing. Ni music is playing and staff is constantly talking to each other and eating crunchy foods while you are getting the services. It's a no for me. read more

I went back to get it fixed because they will always fix your nails if you do not like them. Everyone who works here is very kind and I will continue to be loyal to this nail salon. I appreciate having them fix my mani pedi and can't wait for my next appointment read more

I have given this place a few fair shots and leave more disappointed every time. I have class pass, so this place was convenient in that aspect. My first gel manicure was pretty okay, nothing much to mention. The second time I came here I had an appointment and waited an HOUR until I was finally seated. The woman doing my nails kept saying "Just 10 more minutes and I'll be with you" and after 30 I let her know I had to get started or would need to reschedule. So she started soaking my current polish off, but another 20-30 minutes went by and my nails were pruned with alcohol to the point my skin felt like it was burning. I asked if I could take the soaking foils off and she told me no but I obviously did anyway once my fingers felt that way and she was frustrated WITH ME that the gel hardened backup. ?! The rest of the manicure was okay, and she did a nice job which was the only reason I went back. But my visit this morning has done me over the top with this place. First of all, they opened late and started me 15 minutes after my appointment time. I had a male tech I'd never seen either two times before and he gave the worst manicure I've ever gotten. There's no way this man is a licensed tech. A child could've done a better job. My nails had finally grown to a length I was proud of and he filed them so short to the point that they hurt and one of my fingers was sliced by the file. I had polish ALL over my fingers and the paint job looked patchy because of how shaky he was the entire time. The nail tech I had for my second visit offered to fix them "with just one more coat" and literally redid my entire manicure which I was thankful she tried, but caused me to be 15 minutes late for work. I was at this salon for over AN HOUR for this which is just unacceptable. The pictures are what I left with, even after the "fix". I wish I had their before's too. From the beginning the owner (assuming she was) welcomed me with open arm....literally. Cathy ended up doing my gel mani and pedicure. For the most part she was careful, into the detail and when I asked to fix things or for art inspired by something else... accommodating. That said her focus on detail did make things a bit slow which was ok being I was in no rush. The quality of my pedi was really good. Hopefully it'll hold up. My mani also looked good. When it comes to the art the owner did the job and came close to the pic showed her. As for embellishments their arsenal is limited to only flowers, rhinestones, pearl studs and decals. I'm a lover of nail designs and could have used more options, but made due with what they had. That said, glad I would certainly recommend them to others. read more

DO NOT GO HERE! If you do, do not allow the man that works there to touch you at all. He cut up my feet so bad that I currently have at least 4 bandaids on them with antibacterial ointment on them to allow me to walk with minimal pain. I was literally LIMPING bc the cuts hurt so bad where he sliced off or sanded my skin to bleeding. I also got a "professional" gel manicure... yeah right. I don't think he has a license, honestly. I've NEVER in all my life had this much paint all over my fingers. This was THE WORST nail painting I've ever had. A child would've done better. I know I can. He coughed the WHOLE time without covering his mouth. He used his sharp nails to dig into my cuticles to "remove" paint he messed up on. He had acetone with a brush in it just sitting there, but used his own nails instead. Even digging them into the chopped up cuticles on my toes. I wanted to cry/scream/run. When it was "done", I was so upset I just wanted to leave. I didn't even have anything left to ask them to fix it. I was so defeated. This place is hard to miss due to on going traffic and all the shops across the street, but if you have a chance and are able to find street parking (honestly the only downside), I would highly recommend going. You can try marking in south side plaza and cross the street. It says on yelp that you need to make a reservation but I went in without one (although I did risk my chances by going in at 7pm) and they just so happen to have one more person free to do a gel manicure. They offer a variety of really pretty colors, the manicure is done meticulously from the shaving to styling to painting! I can't stop staring at them. I got so many compliments and it's only been a day! read more

My go to for dip manicures. They have a great selection of colors, and since I couldn't settle for one I asked if they could do an ombre. It turned out beautiful! I don't think I'll ever be able to go back to just one color. My manicurist also did an amazing job cleaning up my cuticles. I have given this salon several chances, but this was my last visit. When you arrive, they won't tell you if it's going to be a wait if they are busy...they tell you to pick a color & sit in the massage chair. I would appreciate a heads up that it was going to be a wait, rather than me fuming in the chair for 45 mins with cold water. The jets in the pedicure sink are very weak, so there is no circulation or massage. There is no tv in the top section of the pedicure chairs, so you can only hear the other tv & stare at the wall. Every time I have been there, at least one of my fingers have been cut. Today, five of my 10 fingers were cut, one is still actively bleeding even after getting home. The woman apologized, but told me that I have soft and sensitive skin, and that her clippers are new & sharp. Today I had a man giving my pedicure, who I'm assuming (based on a prior review) that it was his 3rd day at the salon. Very rough handling my feet, didn't seem to know how to hold and use the tools. I also asked him twice if he was going to wrap my nails to take off the gel polish & he just waved me off, saying the other woman would do it. I knew that would add time to my service, so I wasn't happy. My toenails are painted very sloppy. In the past, I have had wine offered & served to me, but I asked for it this time & it was never brought to me. Overall, highly disappointed & won't be returning. read more

Great new nail salon! They're the only place I know of in Fed that offers SNS Gel too, which I tried for the first time tonight. Apparently it lasts even longer than regular gel and the other customers in the salon backed that up (3+ weeks customers said!). Excited to see how it goes. Really friendly staff/owners (its family owned and it seems like everyone that has been working there the three times I've gone was a member of the family that owns it). Definitely give them a try--the best place in federal hill right now in my opinion! PS: nail color in photo is C30 SNS. UPDATE: 3 weeks and 2 days later and the SNS Gel is nearly perfect still! Definitely worth the extra $5 compared to regular gel imo. read more

Went to Harbor Nails & Spa on a Sunday afternoon to get a gel manicure and pedicure and was unfortunately very underwhelmed with my entire experience. I was so excited to try this new salon as it is so close to home and had great reviews, but my gel manicure was not good at all. The man who did my nails cut two of my fingers when he was cutting my cuticles and then continued with a very sloppy paint job. The paint was all over my cuticles and underneath my nail where it sticks to your skin too. My pedicure was slightly better, but when I asked if there was any way to get my manicure and pedicure done at the same time (not uncommon, especially when the salon is empty), they said that they could, but were definitely not happy about it and made me feel uncomfortable. After all that, when I went to pay, I was charged $75 and when I asked the woman how much each service was (I actually asked her twice) she proceeded to swipe my card and then explained that the manicure was $30 and the pedicure was $45. If someone is asking about the price of something, you don't just ignore the person and swipe their card anyways, and then talk to them after. I was pretty fed up at this point, and gave up on getting an explanation for the prices ($45 seemed too expensive for what I got), but I just accepted it and left. Overall, the price I paid and the service I got were no where near where they should've been. I thought this was going to be my new salon, but I will not be coming back any time soon read more

I went to Harbor Nails and Spa because I needed a mani/pedi badly. I just moved to the neighborhood and wanted to try out this place. I used to frequent the Light Street Nail Salon and Kim's. I arrived before 7 pm and there were only two other customers. I did not have to wait at all and I just walked in. The person who did my mani/pedi was nice and offered me wine which I sipped while I got my pedicure done. I can't remember the woman's name who did my nails but the French manicure I got was a lot nicer than the one I got at the other nail places. She had the boldness of the French tip on the first try. Since this place just opened, I got 10% off my mani and pedi. I paid $54 for my French manicure and regular pedicure. I usually pay $40 for a French manicure and $40 for a pedicure. The prices of this place is $20 lower than the other nail places. read more

They took us without an appointment. Friendly client service although I've called to reserve an appointment and sometimes had to wait 20 Minutes. They have Many gel colors to choose from. The pedicure sink plastic cover fell off during my soak. Kinda made me grossed out seeing the plastic fall off. But their client service is very good. They removed my prior gel polish which took some soaking and buffing with a dremel and listened to me when I told them that the scrub step gives me irritation. They knew to be gentle based on my feedback. Electronic check in is a progressive touch. Will go again. read more

My girl and I were looking for spa services on a Sunday at 4:30pm. She called 5 or 6 places and most were already closed. She called HNS and not only were they open, they got us both in for multiple services. The massage chairs were very nice and the staff could not have been more professional or attentive . They took their time and paid close attention to every detail. This was a great overall experience. I think this is maybe my 3rd ever Yelp review. I am not a big social media type of guy. This nails and spa salon recently opened in my neighborhood. They aren't on the Internet in any capacity so I had to walk down to their so to book an appointment. They ladies working there were super friendly. I made an appointment for Saturday morning with my friend and when we arrived they promptly stated the services. I got a simple pedicure color change and my friend got a full pedicure. If sunbelt come back as they were very attentive and did a great job. Since it was a new shop, all of their mail polishes were new and they had a great selection! They are currently offering 10% of until the ends of July as a new business offer. Definitely take advantage of it! Foot nail color change $10, full pedicure $25. Can't wait to go back! read more

I have been to many nail salons in Baltimore, and Harbor Nails & Spa has been the best one yet. I just walked in, and was seen right away. They had plenty of Gel colors to choose from and even helped me decide when I narrowed it down. The woman who did my nails took her time and did a perfect job. I got a gel manicure here a little over a week ago and the manicurist did a pretty poor job. I stopped in here last minute to get a gel manicure. Manicurist: The nail polish I picked out originally was more expensive than other gel polishes? Fine, they picked out a similar color out of the other gel polishes. The manicurist didn't put on a primer and then proceeded to break the gel seal after filing my nails once my manicure was complete. Atmosphere: If you like sitting on busted computer chairs in a cramped room filled with nail dust from other customers this is the place to go. This place is not clean. Got manicured tips with white SNS on top, and they look incredible. Square shape and length match exactly what I asked for. No bubbles or imperfections. I went on a Sunday afternoon, and they were able to squeeze me in right away with a short notice. I didn't even have to wait when I got there. I recommend calling ahead. The gentlemen (might be the owner) by the way he was talking about the store. It's a little bit rude and apathetic but he does a really good job with your nails. The first time was a full set that lasted over 3 weeks, an excellent job. Second time, was refill and it didn't dissapoint. Went here for the first time today and had an awesome experience! The staff is very polite/friendly and really goes out of their way to make sure you are happy and comfortable. I got a gel manicure and the technician's attention to detail made it turn out beautiful! I moved to the area this past fall and had yet to find a nail place that lived up to my usual place back home...this salon may finally do that for me! I will definitely be back!! Only recommendation is that they appeared to be a bit short staffed so go at odd times or be prepared to wait for a few minutes if you are a walk-in like I was...it's worth the wait! read more

I am always hesitant to find new places, I LOVE my pedicures, and I love how Tam does my nails, my nails last 3 weeks, as a hair-colorist this is a HUGE deal. I had the worst experience at this nail salon.I went here to get full set acrylic nails and when I was done they charged me $55 and on their website it's $30. The lady that was doing my nails cut my finger and they were bleeding. My nails hurt after days. I would not recommend this place. I would not recommend this Salon. read more
